Today at the UNGA 17 countries signed the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), including the United States - the largest arms exporter in the world. So far 108 countries have signed the ATT and 7 have ratified it. Fifty countries need to ratify the treaty for it to enter into force.

The estimated one billion people worldwide who live with disabilities are still excluded from equitable access to resources (education, healthcare, etc.) and as a result persons with disabilities experience disproportionately high rates of poverty. World leaders will address these issues and more on Monday as part of the UN General Assembly's annual meetings.

An Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)-United Nations advance team arrived in Damascus just four days after the OPCW Executive Council and the UN Security Council unanimously endorsed a plan to send them to Syria to begin the process of overseeing the destruction of the country’s chemical weapons programme.
