For anyone who somehow missed the "Montoya, Por Favor" memes, Netflix's Temptation Island is the rebooted U.S. version of the storied franchise, in which four long-term couples on the brink of breaking up are brought to a tropical island and face the ultimate test of temptation. Each couple is split up to spend three weeks in separate villas, where a dozen hot singles of the opposite gender are waiting to try and steal them away.

One of Temptation Island's couples, 29-year-old pilates instructor Shanté Glover and 26-year-old medical salesman Brion Whitley, have quickly become the most controversial couple of the season. After facing infidelity issues and differing sexual libidos, the pair made a jaw-dropping decision at the final bonfire, sparking a debate on how much men can get away with. Now that all 10 episodes are available to stream, read on to learn more about Shanté and Brion's time on Temptation Island, including any clues of whether they're still together today.

What happened between Shanté and Brion on 'Temptation Island?'

Atlanta-based couple Shanté and Brion dated for over a year when they arrived on Temptation Island. When describing their meet-cute in the premiere, Brion says they were introduced when Shanté asked for financial advice at their church...and they had sex together that night. That TMI reveal indicates the extent to which sex and infidelity are the pair's biggest issues (which they chose to handle by going on a show called Temptation Island).

Brion's an admitted "flirty boy." He also reveals that he left Shanté for another woman early in their relationship before realizing "the grass isn't greener on the other side" and getting back together with Shanté. However, he now wants to take their relationship seriously...but he also wants Shanté to work on being more sexually forward with him.

On Shanté's side, she wants to see if he can have platonic friendships with women. She also sheds some tears when Brion discusses possibly moving in together after the island. She describes "putting that test forward" as "a little scary," but adds, "I'm hopeful for what's to come."

As you can expect, Shanté and Brion handle the parade of beautiful bodies in front of them very differently. Shanté does try to put herself out there, but still, the only incriminating clip she has at the first bonfire—when the couples can watch back footage of what each other is up to in their separate villas—is dancing with Princeton grad Hashim. In response to seeing her be more outgoing, Brion talks about how he wants her to have her own life separate from him.

Meanwhile, Shanté sees shots of Brion having chocolate syrup licked off his neck, and of him discussing how he loves a good threesome but can't have that with Shanté. When Mia asks Brion in the clip whether he thinks he can have the best of both worlds, the emotional and the sexual, with another woman, it mirrors doubts that Brion expresses to host Mark L. Walberg at the bonfire. In response to Brion's playback footage, Shanté says he's the one who "brought her" to the island, and he's not "starting off with a great job" of proving he can stay platonic with women for her sake.

Though Brion doesn't hit it off with any of the singles on a romantic level, like some of the other boyfriends (*cough* Tyler and Kay *cough*), he is eventually tempted. In episode 4, there's a tricky moment where he and Alex briefly go into his bathroom together and close the door; they don't seem to do anything, but it gets close. (Shanté appears to be literally reading the Bible while this is happening.) But then, in episode 5, he finally gets that threesome he won't shut up about. He, Alex, and Courtney end up in his shower, and even if he didn't admit it the next day, the "[rhythmic wet slapping]," as described in the subtitles, explains it all.

The morning after, Brion says in a confessional, "I didn’t...wake up with any regret. I’m still respecting Shanté at the end of the day. I think women respect honesty and being true to yourself, and I think a lot of women would rather, you know, have someone just be real and talk to them, and if they're gonna step out or whatever, let 'em know." He then adds, "Now I’m like, 'How do we get Angel and Amiah in the shower?'"

Back in the girlfriends' villa, Shanté had a rougher night, thanks to the addition of the Temptation Haven. In a bit of psychological torture that would be impressive if not horrifying, each villa was given a tent that, if entered, would set off an unmissable alarm on the other side of the island. Brion wasn't the one to set it off (it was Tyler and Kay, then later Grant and Natalie), but Shanté still seemingly spent all night sobbing at the fear that it was Brion. That may be part of the reason why she was eventually able to stay dry-eyed at the bonfire where she saw the threesome footage (yes, including the slapping). Shanté points out that the lack of regret is "sad, hurtful, [and] disrespectful," but it's telling when she says, "I genuinely don't think that in the real world he would've ever did this to me."

Before the episode 6 bonfire, Brion had a revealing conversation while discussing the threesome with Courtney. When asked whether Shanté would forgive him, Brion responded with a solid, "Yeah," and claimed it would "better their relationship at the end of the day." His clip at the bonfire shows Shanté crying on tent night (which also happened to be the night of the threesome). Brion owns up to the threesome, and argues that it needed to happen and that now he "don't gotta hold that over Shanté's head." He continues, "So it's gonna suck, and she's gonna go through it, but I feel like this pain that she's feeling now, it's only for a moment, and I feel as though I can give her a lifetime of happiness...I feel like I can go up to her and apologize, and she's probably still gonna stay. That's a great woman right there."

It seems nothing will top the threesome—however, there are still three more episodes before the final bonfire. In episode 7, each couple gets to send 30-second video messages to each other. Brion says in his note that "the boundary that [he] crossed is not what [he] needed" in life, and he's ready to treat Shanté better. (Notice how there's no concrete apology in there!) In her video, Shanté cries a bit and explains that both his actions and lack of regret "genuinely crushed" her, while wondering whether he was "really considering how [she] was gonna feel at the end of it." After watching her message, Brion says he feels "humbled" and starts crying for the first time on the island.

After Shanté's message finally seems to shake Brion a bit, influencer Amiah briefly knocks him on his ass. Until now, Amiah has had the most friend-like vibe with him, and he had asked her on the next date. However, in episode 7, they'd had an argument, where Amiah felt uncomfortable about Brion wanting to talk to her about his love of rough sex, and he called her "fucking weird" for asserting a boundary. Right after he looks at Shanté's message, Amiah calls him out for "picking and choosing when he wants to be single" and turns down the date.

The producers make Brion have a sad shave-ice date alone. At a subsequent bonfire, he sees a clip of Shanté looking utterly done with him, and that seems to be when he decides to act like he is in a committed relationship.

We also learn a bit more about Brion's background at the episode 8 bonfire, as it's revealed that he dealt with abuse in the foster system. Walberg points out that he had "no model" to show him how to respect or support someone growing up. It's a big moment to have the mirror held up to you, and the idea that Brion could have a therapy journey after the island is a step forward—but I can't help remembering how all this happened at Shanté's expense on the biggest streaming platform in the world. Still, to give him the benefit of the doubt, he asks Amiah on the final date, which is solely friendship vibes. Also, on the morning of the final bonfire, Brion finally says he regrets hurting Shanté for his own self-growth. (Good!) Meanwhile, Shanté says she hasn't made a final decision.

Did Shanté and Brion leave 'Temptation Island' together?

Shanté and Brion are the first couple to reunite at the final bonfire, and they immediately hug as Brion sheds a quick tear. Both of them get the chance to speak uninterrupted at first. Shanté reiterates that he was disrespectful and none of his actions reflected the man she deserves. Brion responds by apologizing and crying, saying he had been a surface-level boyfriend and isn't worthy of her but he can be. Shanté asks if he's crossed any other boundaries beyond the threesome, and he says no (which is only technically the truth). He promises to start dealing with his emotional issues. Shanté admits that she always puts others before herself, and claims she's starting to put herself first.

Then the big question comes. Brion wants to leave the island with Shanté, but when it's her turn to answer, she asks for a second and walks into the shadows to cry. She tells a producer, "I want him to grow, I do, but I don't know what to do anymore." Upon coming back, Shanté initially says she wants to know the better him "down the road," but "right now, [she] has to choose [herself]." However, the conversation doesn't end then. Shanté points out that Brion has reached the emotional place she wanted, and when asked again, she agrees to leave the island with him.

"I am giving him grace in this," Shanté says in a confessional. "It's not gonna be an easy road for him. That's for sure. But I believe in our love. I believe that we can make this something special, and I am happy with my decision."

Are Shanté and Brion still together after 'Temptation Island'?

As of March 14, two days after Temptation Island premiered on March 12, neither Brion nor Shanté have publicly commented on their relationship status. All we have are the typical social media clues to sift through, and while the pair do follow each other on Instagram, neither of them is giving couple vibes on their respective pages. When you compare that to Alexa and Lino—the other original pair who left Temptation Island together and still have a ton of couple pics up—Brion and Shanté seem a bit shakier.

However, in addition to his main page (where he's restricted comments), Brion also has a second Instagram account, focused on his financial planning work. Shanté is one of just 45 people following this page, and all of its pics were posted in July 2024. Depending on when the series was filmed, this could show that the pair were at least on good terms for a while after.

<![CDATA[ Kendall Jenner Pairs The Row's $1,350 Tee With Under-$200 Hoops to Cosplay as a College Student ]]> Kendall Jenner is going back to college, but not to study. Just in time for spring break, the supermodel's 818 Tequila College Tour—a roaming pop-up that visits local bars in college towns across the country—is back for another round.

On Mar. 14, the liquor mogul was spotted posing with fans on a party bus in Nashville, Tennessee. In keeping with the collegial theme of the expedition, the 29-year-old dressed like a student studying abroad. That said, the pieces she pulled for the occasion definitely range outside the average undergraduate's budget. The beige stripes of her long-sleeved crewneck shirt might look like something you could find at Gap, but it's actually a $1,350 tee from The RowJenner's favorite brand at the moment.

Her black oval sunglasses channeled the Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy aesthetic she's been gradually cultivating since 2022. When the model was on tour with 818 last year, she even had a mane of rich-girl blonde hair to complete the '90s It girl effect. One thing that's remained the same in the intervening year? Her love of straight-leg denim. Above, she's wearing a pair of mid-rise Levi's jeans in a bright blue wash that offers a perfect contrast to her fleshy nude top.

The rest of her ensemble is a study in understated classics. Her ridged silver hoop earrings underscore the influence of '80s jewelry trends on today's most-wanted accessories. Her sleek brunette bob haircut nails the stylish gray area between chin-length and collarbone-grazing. And frankly, I'd pay good money to know the impossibly glossy rose pink lip combination she's sporting in these pictures. Mary Phillips, you have 24 hours to respond.

<![CDATA[ Prince William Says He's "Trying Not to Be Biased" When It Comes to His Kids and This "Passionate" Choice ]]> Prince WIlliam doesn't often give interviews, but he opened up about one of his biggest passions to the Sun after Aston Villa clinched the Champions League on March 12. However, when the Prince of Wales—who is a huge Villa fan—was asked about his kids, he said that he's okay with them forging their own paths.

"I’m kind of hoping they’ll all find their own teams in time," Prince William told the Sun. "They don’t all have to be Villa fans. I’m trying not to be biased but obviously they see how passionate I am about it and they watch the matches with me."

The future King—who serves as patron of the Football Association—added that he's "trying to spread the love a little bit" in terms of his children supporting other teams.

It turns out Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, are even being recruited by some of the teams for their fandom. "They do have Villa shirts, and ask to come to games with me, but they have other shirts as well," the Prince of Wales said. "There’s been a bit of courting going on by other managers too."

The father of three didn't mention names when it came to the "courting," but mom Princess Kate is known to be a Chelsea fan.

This isn't the first time the Prince of Wales has commented on his children becoming Villa supporters. While heading to a pub to join fellow Aston Villa fans for a pint, William told one fan that he "didn't want" Charlotte and Louis to feel like they had to support the team.

Of their encounter, pub goer Steve Jones said, per GB News, "It was 95 percent chat about Villa as that’s our shared interest, but a bit about his family. Young George is a Villa fan but he didn't want all three to be Villa fans."

As for his game day routine, the Prince of Wales told the Sun, "If I’m home alone with the children, I probably don’t have the pre-match pint but I do have a bit of superstition about where I sit when I’m watching them." He added that he'll "start moving 'round the house quite quickly" if Villa is "not doing very well" and will even "put the children in different positions hoping that’s going to change our luck."

The future King is so involved with the team that he even goes into online forums and posts anonymous comments. "I like going on the forums, I can be on there for ages," he admitted. "I listen to what other fans have to say and give them my opinions. I get quite into it, definitely. It’s important to have that debate."

<![CDATA[ Prince Harry and Prince William's Rarely-Seen Cousin Is Set to Inherit $130 Million Fortune ]]> Royal fans and fashion followers are familiar with Princess Diana's nieces Kitty, Eliza and Amelia Spencer, with the glamorous trio being a regular fixture on the British society scene. While Kitty and crew frequently make appearances on social media (and in this magazine), they have a lesser-known sibling who stays out of the spotlight—and it turns out their brother Louis Spencer will one day inherit a massive fortune.

As Viscount Althorp, Louis—who is celebrating his 31st birthday on Friday, March 14—is the eldest son of Princess Diana's brother Charles, Earl Spencer and therefore heir to the Spencer dynasty. Even though he has three older sisters, the custom of male primogeniture means Kitty, Amelia and Eliza have been cut out of inheriting the family estate.

When the earl dies, Louis will take over the Spencer seat of Althorp, where Princess Diana is buried. Per the Sun, the estate is "estimated to be worth a staggering £100m," making it a roughly $130 million fortune.

Louis, Kitty, Amelia and Eliza's mother is Charles Spencer's first wife, Victoria Aitken, and they share two half-siblings Edmund “Ned” Spencer and Lady Lara Caroline Spencer from their father's second marriage to Caroline Freud. They also have a little sister, Charlotte Diana Spencer, from the earl's failed third marriage to Karen Gordon.

"Primogeniture can be a tricky topic, because as times are changing, attitudes are as well," Lady Kitty told Town & Country in 2021. However, she added that she and her sisters have "grown up understanding that it’s Louis to inherit, and Louis will do an incredible job."

Unlike his sisters, Louis keeps a low profile—in fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find a current photo of the Spencer heir. But he's always been there to support his family, and walked big sis Kitty down the aisle during her lavish 2021 wedding in Italy. Louis was raised in South Africa alongside his sisters and later attended the University of Edinburgh.

The aspiring actor graduated from London's Arts Educational Schools and according to the Daily Mail, uses the stage name Louis John Lyons. It seems he's yet to make his big Hollywood debut, but the Spencer heir is signed to the Tavistock Wood talent agency alongside several big names like Dominic West.

While Louis hasn't spoken about his budding career, Earl Spencer shared in 2019 (via the Daily Mail), "Louis lives in London. He’s an actor at drama school and works incredibly hard and I want him to be able to fulfill his dreams in that direction. It is full on: he’s doing 14-hour days."

<![CDATA[ Amal Clooney Spices Up Her Ladylike Leopard Print Coat With a Celebrity-Beloved Boot Trend ]]> Amal Clooney celebrated the opening of her husband George Clooney's Broadway debut by—what else?—a fabulously feminine outfit that doubles up on celebrity-approved pieces.

On Mar. 13, the famed human rights lawyer was spotted re-contextualizing winter's best trends for spring outside the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. A taupe leopard print coat topped with a wide satin bow closure from Giambattista Valli's Fall 2022 Ready-to-Wear show was the crown jewel of her look. Frankly, I never would've guessed the never-ending balletcore bow trend details would pair so nicely with the mafia wife-coded leopard print trend. Noted animal print devotees Jennifer Lawrence and Hailey Bieber should take notes.

A photo of Amal Clooney styling a Giambattista Valli leopard print coat with black snakeskin over-the-knee boots.

Underneath her statement outwear, the attorney layered a '60s-inspired cream-colored shift dress with a high neckline. Her buttery mini dress matched the length of her thigh-grazing coat perfectly. The shorter hemline also showcased her black patent over-the-knee boots, in a nod to the thigh-skimming styles seen all over the Fall 2024 runways at Chloé, Fendi, and Gucci. More than a year later, the look has staying power: Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and even Michelle Obama have taken the thigh-high boot trend for a pap walk.

Just like her Hollywood-adjacent peers, the British activist matched her pointy boots to her other accessories: in this case, a black patent croc-embossed micro-bag, which came adorned with a tiny silver lock. She skipped jewelry apart from a single pair of gold huggie hoop earrings, which dangled a delicate drop charm from each lobe.

Her nails were painted the hue of pale pink putty and her long brunette hair billowed behind as she exited the venue. Caramel balayage highlights were woven throughout her bouncy blowout. Her makeup, meanwhile, mirrored the warm tones of her hair with shimmery rose-gold eyeshadow, peachy-pink blush, and a glossy pink lip.

Given that her husband's new play is set in the mid-1950s, it was all too fitting for the 47-year-old to wear an opening-week outfit that similarly channels American nostalgia. No one does boho-chic better than Clooney, but this Jackie Kennedy-coded aesthetic really works for her. Plus, she already owns the oversize sunglasses she'd need to make the homage complete.

<![CDATA[ The Surprising Detail About Princess Diana's Earrings You Probably Missed at Kate Middleton's Latest Appearance ]]> Princess Kate has honored the mother-in-law she never met, Princess Diana, in a number of ways through the years. Whether it's channeling the late princess in a very similar mint green blazer or wearing Diana's iconic sapphire engagement ring, Kate has paid numerous fashion tributes to the People's Princess. On March 10, the Princess of Wales wore Diana's beloved Collingwood Pearl Earrings—a pair Kate has worn to several royal events—to the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. However, a close-up photo of the royal's left ear reveals a worrying detail.

The large pearl drop earrings feature diamond caps and hang from two diamond studs, but zooming in on a picture from Commonwealth Day, it's clear that one of the stones above the pearl drop is missing. Whether it fell out en route to the ceremony or the Princess of Wales was aware that the stone was missing is anyone's guess, but it seems the historic jewels will be in need of a swift repair.

According to The Court Jeweller, the pearl style was given to Diana by the Collingwood jewelry brand and she first wore the earrings to a special dinner just ahead of her 1981 royal wedding. Princess Diana went on to wear the pearl drops many times over the years, often pairing them with her go-to Lover's Knot Tiara.

Princess Kate first wore the Collingwood Pearl Drops to a state banquet in 2017, when she paired the earrings with Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara. Since then, she's gone on to wear the earrings to several white-tie events with the aforementioned tiara, and also showed off the pearls at Garter Day 2019 and in her stunning 40th birthday portraits.

As for the rest of Princess Kate's Commonwealth Day jewels, she paired Diana's earrings with Queen Elizabeth's Japanese Pearl Choker, a piece that Kate wore to both the late Queen's funeral and to Prince Philip's. The Princess of Wales went with a red theme for the rest of her look, choosing to repeat a scarlet-hued Catherine Walker coat dress with a red pillbox hat.

<![CDATA[ Gigi Hadid's Espresso Brunette Hair Color Is Growing Out So Beautifully ]]> Gigi Hadid is slowly saying goodbye to her blonde era. On Mar. 13, the model was spotted in New York City after attending a Rabanne event earlier in the day. For her nighttime look, Hadid wore a black and white pinstriped jumpsuit and a leather jacket. She accessorized with oversized jewelry and a small clutch, a brown belt, and black pointed-toe heels. The model looked absolutely stunning as per usual, but what made me do a double take was the fact that her typically blond hair was a much darker color from the last time she was photographed in public.

For Le Grand Dîner du Louvre on March 4, an annual philanthropic event hosted by the Louvre Museum, Hadid was sporting a “silver tequila” color—a shade aptly named by her hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos. As you’d expect, her hair was a cool-toned silver for the event, but regardless of the shift away from her traditional buttery blonde, her hair color was still extremely light. That being said, her latest look is decidedly in the brunette territory. For her New York City engagement her hair was styled in a slicked-back bun. Whereas Hadid has typically kept her roots dark, this espresso color extended all the way down almost to the ends of her hair, leaving just the tucked away part of her bun to boast the lighter hue.

Deep brown is one of the hair trends that is expected to make a fierce return for spring 2025, seconded only by the return of the bob haircut, (which, if we’re being honest, never really went away). Hadid is seemingly ahead of the curve, as she’s been sporting her shorter haircut since early 2024 and is now well on her way to becoming a full brunette, combining two of the season's hottest trends into one like a true supermodel mogul. If your hair is also on the darker side, ensuring that your color looks shiny and healthy is the key to having that celebrity-level glow. <![CDATA[ 7 Times the Royal Family Broke Queen Elizabeth's More Understated "Rule" ]]> Royal life comes along with plenty of protocol that dictates everything from traveling with heirs to what royals can and can't eat at official functions. But one so-called beauty rule Queen Elizabeth had over the years wasn't actually a rule at all—even if tabloids might have fans convinced otherwise. While the late Queen held a strong preference for natural or very pale pink nails, there was no hard-and-fast regulation that other women in the family couldn't wear colored polish.

However, it was still rare to see senior members of the family sporting anything but barely-there shades of nude or pink on their nails, including Queen Elizabeth's longtime favorite shade, Essie Ballet Slippers. Princess Kate, for example, stuck to Queen Elizabeth's example, so when Meghan Markle took the stage at the 2018 British Fashion Awards, her ultra-dark nails made waves.

While negative articles claimed the duchess had "broken protocol" with her black mani, the truth is, Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson routinely wore red polish in the late '80s and early '90s. Princess Eugenie is also a fan of a fun manicure and has worn colorful designs on her nails to multiple royal events, and Zara Tindall has shown off shades ranging from teal to black.

Rule or not, it's still of note that the Princess of Wales waited until Queen Elizabeth's death to show off a bright red manicure for the family's 2023 Easter service. But in recent years—even before the late Queen died—more royal women have been playing with nail trends than ever before.

Below, get inspired by seven of the Royal Family's best colorful manicure moments.

Princess Diana, 1992

Princess Diana was seen showing off lipstick-red manicures even before her separation from Prince Charles, like she did for a 1992 performance of Verdi's opera "Otello."

Sarah Ferguson, 1989

The Duchess of York often embraced red nails. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Diana wasn't the only royal who loved a red nail; the Duchess of York showed off a scarlet manicure while visiting Canada for an official royal tour with Prince Andrew in 1989.

Princess Kate, 2023

Decades later, the Princess of Wales would get in on the red nail action for the Royal Family's 2023 Easter service. And while it was the first time Princess Kate had worn anything but a pale, natural color on her fingers, she'd actually shown off red polish on her toes at several red carpet events over the years.

Meghan Markle, 2018

Meghan Markle made plenty of headlines when she attended the 2018 British Fashion Awards in a (gasp!) one-shouldered dress and (double gasp!) deep burgundy nail polish that appeared almost black. While critics claimed that the Duchess of Sussex was breaking some unspoken royal fashion rules, reporter Omid Scobie told Harper's Bazaar at the time, "There’s no actual protocol about dark nail polish. It’s simply about being appropriate—we’d never see this at a royal engagement."

He added, "tonight’s event is a celebration of fashion and there’s a lot more flexibility on what one can wear."

Zara Tindall, 2019

Zara Tindall also got in on the black polish action later that year, matching her mani to her coat as she watched mom Princess Anne's horse compete at the Cheltenham racecourse.

Princess Eugenie, 2012

Perhaps the most risk-taking member of the Royal Family in terms of nails, Princess Eugenie has embraced designs like Union Jacks and even reindeer over the years.

Duchess Sophie, 2020

Often described as one of the late Queen's favorites, Duchess Sophie has remained dedicated to serving the monarchy. However, she's never been one to shy away from making a fashion statement—even if it departed from her beloved mother-in-law's preferences. Here, she's pictured wearing gray polish while visiting a children's hospice in February 2020.

<![CDATA[ Daisy Edgar-Jones Revives the Brat Green Color Trend in a Sheer Gucci Plunge Top and Leather Pencil Skirt ]]> Daisy Edgar-Jones is the ultimate Gucci muse. At South by Southwest festival, the Normal People actor hit the red carpet premiere of her new movie, On Swift Horses, wearing yet another head-to-toe look from the Italian fashion house.

On Mar. 13, Jones hopped out of her Uber sporting a plunging lime green lace halter bodysuit with a waist-cinching belt and a sheer belly button cut-out. She coordinated the top with a soft green nappa leather pencil skirt that almost looked like crushed velvet from afar. Leave it to stylist Dani Michelle—whom the British star shares with It girls Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber—to revive the brat green color trend just in time for spring.

The 26-year-old accessorized her punchy outfit with a pointy pair of black patent leather mules. To fill the negative space left by her deep-V neckline, she also slipped on a long double-wrapped gold chain necklace with an oversized horsebit pendant.

The Twisters leading lady balanced her colorful look with a short bubble bath pink manicure and her signature '70s-inspired bohemian blowout: balayage-highlighted brunette waves topped with middle-parted curtain bangs. Her makeup emphasized her features with a glossy peach lip, rose-colored boyfriend blush, and a gold shimmer eyeshadow swept over her lids as well as her lower lash-line.

It's hard to overstate how much Edgar-Jones's personal style has changed since she began working with Michelle during the Twisters press tour. She's been embraced by bigger luxury houses; experimented with more daring silhouettes; and landed on several best-dressed lists. In turn, the fanfare around her fashion evolution has catapulted the romcom darling's fame to daring new heights. Thanks to their ongoing collaboration, we have yet another celebrity patron saint bolstering the boho-chic trend revival. And frankly, when is that ever a bad thing?

<![CDATA[ I Lost Track of Time in Nordstrom’s Spring Sale Rabbit Hole—Here's What I'm Buying For Under $300 ]]> Spring weather is here, and I have to admit that I’m a little stuck. After months of relying on my all-black outfits and heavy winter knits, I'm trying to. lighten up my look. So, I turned to Nordstrom’s sale for inspiration and crafted seven early spring outfits for less than $300 each.

Nordstrom’s massive sale offers shoppers up to 50 percent off every spring outfit essential. I found discounted white trousers perfect for wearing in the office and Bermuda shorts that are surprisingly chic. These all pair perfectly with the accessories I picked, like sleek ballet flats and black sunglasses you’ll wear daily.

Keep scrolling to shop my favorite sale finds and see how I would style them. The discounts are running until March 24, so there’s never been a better time to shop.

It's not quite all-white-outfit weather yet, but you can still make your light pieces work this spring. My trick is to style my favorite picks (like white trousers) with other tan options like the bomber jacket below.

Bermuda shorts are shaping up to be a major denim trend for summer. Make them feel a little more elevated with a black blazer and knee-high boots.

All-denim looks are trending right now, so make sure you have at least one in your spring outfit rotation. This means keeping layers like a denim shirt-jacket and a matching pair of jeans on hand at all times.

Striped shirts and straight-leg jeans are a perfect combination. (Image credit: Launchmetrics Spotlight)

This is a classic combination I return to whenever I don't know what to wear. High-waisted jeans in an easy-to-style dark wash, a button-down shirt, and a thick belt to tie it all together.

Handle up-and-down weather by keeping a black sweatshirt on hand at all times. (Image credit: Launchmetrics Spotlight)

The spring season is peppered with unseasonably warm afternoons that warrant lighter layers like a white tank top. Keep the cold at bay with an extra layer—like a wear-anywhere black sweatshirt.

<![CDATA[ Nordstrom’s Spring Sale Section Includes Every Major Sneaker Trend for Less Than $150 ]]> Now that spring is here, I have a confession to make—my sneaker selection is pretty slim. My cool white sneakers look a little worse for wear, and the ultra-chunky sneakers I bought last year feel a little outdated. So, I'm in dire need of a refresh. Thankfully, Nordstrom's Spring Sale is here to upgrade my trendy sneaker game.

The sale, which is running until March 24, offers shoppers up to 50 percent off hundreds of styles. To be more specific, there are 963 pairs of discounted sneakers hidden in the selection, and I personally scrolled through 14 pages to find the best picks. My hard work paid off, too. I found plenty of pairs from celebrity-favorite brands like Puma, Vans, and Adidas.

Keep scrolling for every pair of sneakers in my cart from the current sale. This edit includes styles in many of spring's trendiest colors, plus multiple pairs of comfortable shoes for your upcoming summer travel plans. Even better, every pair on this list rings in at $150 or less.

<![CDATA[ Selena Gomez Remixes Her Classic White Shirt With a Parisian Bra Styling Trend ]]> Selena Gomez filmed the music video for "Sunset Boulevard" about two weeks ago. I know because I saw photos of Gomez pairing Victoria's Secret lingerie and Ugg boots on-set, then immediately sent the lazy Saturday outfit inspiration to the Marie Claire team. But following the track's midnight premiere on March 14, I got the sense the singer and her stylist, Erin Walsh, had more in mind than channeling the song's intimate lyrics with their boudoir outfits. They were also predicting a bra styling trend that would take over Paris Fashion Week shortly after filming wrapped.

The "Sunset Boulevard" music video is styled like an early-'80s fever dream, with a hazy lens over the camera and glowing neon lights. Gomez sings with teased hair, red lips, and the aforementioned Victoria's Secret sets in one scene; then, she changes into a classic white shirt by Comme Si unbuttoned to reveal a cherry red Fleur du Mal bra. In successive shots, the singer layers on Wolford tights and Victoria's Secret tap shorts.

Pin-ups and manic pixie dream girls throughout pop culture history have styled their underpinnings as outerwear—or teased a flash of their lingerie beneath another shirt. Those come-hither examples all felt tailored for the male gaze.

But when I took in Gomez's intentionally-visible bra days after runways like Miu Miu, Valentino, and Vaquera had wrapped, I saw it for what it was: a co-sign of a revealing new (and perhaps more empowering) trend. Designers throughout the Fall 2025 season strategically exposed silk, satin, and lace bras beneath mesh dresses (Givenchy), layered slips (Miu Miu), and even sewed them on top of another sheer lace shirt (Valentino). They arrived accompanied by show notes celebrating femininity as a 360-degree experience, exposed bras included. In Givenchy creative director Sarah Burton's words, "I want to address everything about modern women. Strength, vulnerability, emotional intelligence, feeling powerful or very sexy. All of it."

Selena Gomez's take on the look isn't just sultry (she is singing about the "big, hard heart" behind her engagement, after all). Like the bra styling on the runway, it's also self-assured—because it takes confidence to show off what's underneath a shirt.

<![CDATA[ Did Jamie Kill Katie? Breaking Down the End of 'Adolescence' ]]> If you’ve watched all of Netflix’s limited series Adolescence, take a deep breath. The moving but agonizing tale about a young boy named Jamie (Owen Cooper) who is accused of murdering his female classmate is a harrowing watch, as the four episodes chronicle his arrest, a psych evaluation, and the effects on his classmates and family. Each episode of the U.K.-set drama is shot in a single take, embedding the audience into the action—and the emotions—alongside the police, the Miller family, and Jamie himself.

The standout third episode of the must-watch series is a two-hander between Jamie and his court-ordered psychologist (Erin Doherty), and their conversation is both biting and nurturing at the same time. During their one-on-one, Jamie reveals that the victim had cyberbullied him by referring to him as an incel, and then accidentally admits to the crime—a sentence he tries to take back immediately.

So where does the finale leave Jamie and his family? Below, we break down the emotional ending of Adolescence.

Did Jamie actually kill his classmate in 'Adolescence?'

The first episode of the series concludes with CCTV footage of a boy that the police identified as Jamie (Owen Cooper) stabbing a girl repeatedly. The video shocks Jamie’s father Eddie (Stephen Graham), who had steadfastly believed Jamie’s assertion that he did not commit the crime. Even after the footage is shown, Jamie claims repeatedly that he didn’t do it.

The fourth and final episode follows Jamie’s family on Eddie’s 50th birthday 13 months later. Jamie calls his father to tell him that he plans to plead guilty during his trial. Audiences don’t see exactly what led to that decision, though it cements that we’ve known the answer about his lack of innocence the entire time.

Why did Jamie commit the crime in 'Adolescence?'

The reasons behind Jamie’s actions are left murky, though the series references right-wing men’s rights activist Andrew Tate and the fragility of masculinity online. Graham, who also co-created the series with Jack Thorne (Toxic Town, His Dark Materials), told Los Angeles Times that he didn’t want to go down the obvious route of blaming the parents. Instead, he wanted to explore other factors that could contribute to wayward behavior, including the rise of incel culture online.

What will happen to Jamie in 'Adolescence?'

Adolescence doesn’t show us Jamie’s trial or reveal his sentencing, but the choice to plead guilty suggests that Jamie will serve a life sentence. According to an official U.K. government site, even those with life sentences could be released on parole but will “spend the rest of their life ‘on license’ in the community,” meaning they’ll still have to abide by certain rules and regulations or be sent back to jail.

How does Jamie’s family cope after the incident in 'Adolescence?'

The fourth and final episode of Adolescence is centered entirely on the Miller family as they try to navigate life after Jamie is charged with murder. His parents Eddie and Manda (Christine Tremarco) discuss leaving town and starting over somewhere else, but Eddie is against the idea, reasoning that moving away won’t change anything. By the episode’s end, their daughter Lisa (Amelie Pease) also agrees that moving would be worse than staying, especially if new neighbors discover their past.

Centered on Eddie’s birthday, the last installment of the series expertly balances the family’s struggles in the face of Jamie’s actions while also allowing them small moments of joy. Manda gets up early to cook her husband an elaborate breakfast and he suggests they have sex right there in the kitchen. However, their jubilant moods are derailed when they find someone has spray painted “nonce” (which is British slang for a sex offender) on his work van. Unfortunately, their reaction reveals that this is a recurring occurrence in their neighborhood and not the first time Eddie has had to scrub obscenities from his truck.

After Jamie calls to let them know he has committed to pleading guilty, Eddie and Manda have a heartbreaking discussion about their parenting, whether they did enough, and where they went wrong. Manda mentions Jamie’s temper and says that they should’ve monitored his computer usage more, while Eddie is still horrified by the footage he saw and wishes Jamie had requested his mom as his “appropriate adult” (a.k.a. his guardian during legal proceedings).

The series leaves us with an absolutely crushing image: Eddie enters Jamie’s room for the first time—a space that has not been touched since shortly after the events of the first episode—and sobs into his son’s pillow. “I’m sorry son, I should’ve done better,” he says, kissing the teddy bear as a stand-in for Jamie. This sorrow is something that the Millers will live with for the rest of their lives.

<![CDATA[ Prince William Admits He Has a Secret Online Habit: "I Get Quite Into It" ]]> Whether it's cheering on his beloved Aston Villa, serving as patron of the Football Association or supporting organizations that help people get into the sport, Prince William's passion for football (or soccer, if you're American) is second to none. The heir to the throne recently showed off his love for Aston Villa when the team won the Champions League on Wednesday, March 12, and in an interview with the Sun, he revealed some surprising—and hilarious—habits when it comes to the game.

It turns out plenty of Villa fans have actually interacted with the Prince of Wales in online forums without knowing it, as the prince admitted he posts anonymously on fan sites.

"I like going on the forums, I can be on there for ages," the Prince of Wales told the outlet. "I listen to what other fans have to say and give them my opinions. I get quite into it, definitely. It’s important to have that debate." Of course, he didn't reveal his undercover username, but knowing the future King is chatting away on Aston Villa sites at home isn't something most royal (or football fans) had on their 2025 bingo cards.

Prince William attended the March 12 championship match at Villa Park with some of his closest friends, including Princess Charlotte's godfather Thomas van Straubenzee and longtime pal Edward van Cutsem. The group was definitely in a celebratory mood, with photos showing off their jubilant celebrations (at one point, William is seen wiping van Cutsem's face after he spilled his drink).

Despite not living anywhere close to Birmingham, Prince William has become quite the Aston Villa fan over the years, something he chalked up to a game he attended as a child. "I had some family friends who took me to my first Villa game when I was younger because they are big Villa fans," he told the Sun.

"With the camaraderie among the fans and the chanting and the singing, I just felt like I belonged there." The Prince of Wales admitted that his interest didn't become quite as intense until 2016, however.

"I kept an eye on Villa from then on but didn’t get too involved initially," he shared. "But Villa being relegated to the Championship in 2016 got me even more interested, strangely."

When it comes to watching the games at home, the Prince of Wales shared one of his superstitious habits. "If I’m home alone with the children, I probably don’t have the pre-match pint but I do have a bit of superstition about where I sit when I’m watching them," the father of three said.

In fact, Prince William—who has brought his kids to numerous football matches over the years—will go as far as to change where Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are sitting if Aston Villa is losing. "If we’re not doing very well, I start moving round the house quite quickly and I put the children in different positions hoping that’s going to change our luck," he admitted.

<![CDATA[ Gigi Hadid Trades Her Butter Yellow Naked Dress and See-Through Trench Coat for '80s Pinstripes ]]> Gigi Hadid is back from Paris Fashion Week, but that doesn't mean she's done playing dress up. On Mar. 13, the supermodel headlined the Rabanne pop-up in New York City in a layered look that somehow managed to seamlessly pair transparent plastic, chiffon, and sequins.

Her underpinnings consisted of an ankle-length silver sequin slip dress with a scoop neckline. Atop her metallic slip, a sheer butter yellow chiffon naked dress was added in the exact same silhouette for a peek-a-boo camisole effect. Both Rabanne dresses were then bundled up with a see-through canary yellow trench coat that was cinched at the waist with a sculptural silver belt buckle. At last, the naked dressing trend has made its way to outerwear. Sunny in shade yet clearly made for rainy days, her slicker instantly reminded me of the transparent piped PVC trench coat from Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2023 collection curated by Kim Kardashian.

Later in the evening, she changed into a black and gray two-piece set that tapped into the pinstripe trend with a cropped tuxedo-inspired blazer and a matching pair of trousers. She slipped a shiny black leather bomber jacket over the '80s-inspired ensemble along with a multi-strand gold chain belt. For added bling, she donned a weighty gold pendant necklace and interlocking gold hoop earrings. Under her arm, she carried a small beaded gold pouch as a clutch. Pointy black booties completed the look, along with her slick bun from earlier in the day.

Elaborate day-to-night looks are no easy feat even when you're an internationally beloved model, but I simply have to hand it to Miss Gigi Hadid. Between her daytime nod to spring color trends and her evening homage to boom boom businessman aesthetics, she crushed this costume change.

<![CDATA[ Hailey Bieber Reverses Her Stance on Classic Pants With an All-Time Wardrobe Essential ]]> There is one cardinal rule in Hailey Bieber's wardrobe: Under only the rarest circumstances will the Rhode founder wear pants. Bottoms in a prototypical Hailey Bieber outfit often have "micro" as a prefix: micro shorts, micro-mini skirts, micro-mini dresses. At Paris Fashion Week for Saint Laurent's show and after-party, Bieber wore two of the three—plus a snow-leopard Saint Laurent coat with nothing but sheer tights. (That's another of her favorite leggy styling hacks.)

So it came as a shock when I scrolled Instagram on March 13 and stumbled upon a secret outfit Mrs. Bieber wore while attending Paris Fashion Week this week. Longtime stylist Dani Michelle shared photos lensed by Tizano Raw on Instagram of the beauty mogul in an industrial space wearing an unexpected (for her) wardrobe essential: classic black pants.

Hailey Bieber wears a black matching set from Jacquemus in paris

Hailey Bieber traded her pantsless formula for enormous pair of Jacquemus trousers. (Image credit: Backgrid)

Bieber being Bieber, these weren't ordinary pants. If she was going to succumb to the corporate suiting trend taking over runways from Calvin Klein to Givenchy, she was going to do it in over-the-top fashion. She chose a full look from Jacquemus's latest collection, pairing a nipped-in longsleeve black jacket to ballooning black pants. It was the businesswoman special's take on the "tiny top, big pants" phenomenon sweeping street style in the past year: the proportions were exaggerated, the CEO energy off the charts.

Bieber kept her newfound affinity for black trousers somewhat under-wraps (or underground, judging by the parking garage-look of her photoshoot). Since returning to the public eye after giving birth to her son, Jack Blues Bieber, she's been staunchly anti-pants in nearly every outfit. Before there was her Schiaparelli blazer and elegant ballet flats, Bieber had worn everything from Ferragamo leather party dresses to barn jackets styled as a mini dress. The only exception I can think of is the Saint Laurent suit she wore to a Rhode Barrier Butter launch party—which, like her Jacquemus outfit, dialed up proportions with oversize shoulders and puddling pants.

While at Paris Fashion Week, Bieber wore a Saint Laurent snow leopard coat, sheer tights, and definitely not pants. (Image credit: Instagram/@haileybieber)

Plenty celebrities with distinct personal styles still rely on the eternal wardrobe essential otherwise known as black pants. It's the great common denominator of Hollywood—and closets worldwide. Jennifer Lawrence strolls through New York and Los Angeles displaying a range of pants by The Row and Loewe. Kaia Gerber wears her low-slung black trousers as often as her trendy East-West tote bag by Paloma Wool. (Read: almost every other day.) Even Hailey Bieber's close confidant, Kendall Jenner, appears to have a walk-in closet dedicated to minimalist black pants.

All that's to say, I've always known Hailey Bieber wears the pants metaphorically. Now I know she can do it literally, too.

<![CDATA[ One Woman Show ]]> In the new Broadway production of The Picture of Dorian Gray, Sarah Snook, best known for dishing out barbs as Shiv Roy on Succession, plays the title character, the vain Victorian fuckboy who wishes that only his portrait would grow old while he remains forever young. That, in itself, is a feat: a woman taking on a canonically male role. But Snook doesn't stop there. She also plays 25 other roles, male and female, over the course of two hours (with no intermission), acting entirely opposite herself.

What unfolds is a mindblowing theatrical experience that updates Dorian for the 21st century, while making Oscar Wilde’s classic story feel more relevant than ever. It is, after all, about self-obsession, and we live in a self-obsessed age.

"I think for audience members, whether they identify as female or male or nonbinary, there is a sense in which everybody can see themselves within Dorian and the kind of moral compromise that Dorian finds themselves tangled up within becomes this universal compromise that we are all capable of finding ourselves within," director Kip Williams tells Marie Claire.

So how does Snook do it? In part by sheer acting talent, of course. (Snook won an Olivier in London for her performance; prior to that the show played in Australia and New Zealand with other leads.) The 37-year-old, who is the third actress to appear in the production, modulates her voice depending on whether she's playing the initially bright-eyed Dorian or his tragic love interest, Sibyl Vane. She changes her body language to match whatever persona she’s inhabiting. But to fully transform, she also relies on 19 costume changes, a host of wigs, six LED screens, and 15 total crew members, some of whom are wielding cameras on stage to capture her at different angles.

Take, for instance, a bravura dinner party sequence. We watch as stagehands, dressed in nondescript black clothing, turn her from Dorian into the haughty Lord Henry, deftly applying a mustache and a brown wig. Then Snook is seated at a table with five other people whom she also plays: the elderly Lady Agatha dressed in pearls; a duchess holding a pug; and a "rotund" member of parliament. The characters who are not Lord Henry have been pre-recorded. But still the conversation between a live Snook/Lord Henry and her digital counterparts flows almost unnervingly freely. In other moments of the play, Snook is on stage while the screens show every facet of her face in tight close up, a metaphor for the fracturing of self.

The task of figuring out how Dorian would evolve from innocent naif into soulless party boy—as well as everyone else—fell to scenic and costume designer Marg Horwell. With the show now in previews in New York, Horwell, whose award-winning work also includes a production of Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, walked us through her complicated process.

Marie Claire: How did you think about gender when creating Dorian's look?

Marg Howell: We spent a long time [with Sarah and each performer that has played Dorian] trying to find how they looked best as a man, but without denying something inherent about themselves. So it didn't kind of turn into something that was overly costumey.

There's fun kind of camp things that are happening as well. But to find a version of Dorian that is so obsessed with aesthetics and also doesn't deny [the actors'] inherent femininity or their inherent kind of physical mannerisms is the great thing. And the weird thing is you find that they feel more masculine wearing heels than they did flats. Actually we've cinched waists in quite a bit…that very feminine shape that was in fashion at the time. Then mixing it with contemporary versions of gender-fluid fashion. So it really does feel like something that spanned a century.

MC: How did you figure out Dorian's hair?

MH: So the first Dorian is quite cherubic with curls and is more innocent, but he also has that kind of classic, romantic heartthrob look with sideburns as well. But then as he becomes more invested in aesthetics or as he kind of becomes more enamored with his own image, it becomes more styled and more fashion-y. I got obsessed with the model Lucky Blue Smith. So lots of people say, "Oh, it's very Elvis." But actually, all of it is that Lucky Blue kind of tall, dirty, greasy blonde, great style.

Horwell cites early Ann Demeulemeester tops with "lacings and things that were left undone," as well as the most recent Maison Margiela collection, as inspiration. (Image credit: Courtesy of 'The Picture of Dorian Gray')

MC: There is a floral motif running through the show. Why was that important to you?

MH: In the book, he goes into the garden and describes flowers just in great detail for a long time. And [there is] the mythology around Oscar Wilde that he carried a carnation. But the great thing I think about flowers on stage is that they're not real. So there's something about artifice or the kind of saccharine falseness of them that I think is really important. We started with something that felt a bit more real or felt a little more honest. And then throughout the show it evolves. Then it becomes a very sickly motif by the end.

MC: How did you think about how the costumes and sets were going to be captured by the videographers?

MH: Theater wigs are so different to film wigs in terms of how closely you can interrogate them and how quickly they can go on. Because we're doing wig changes live for her, which are two seconds or something, it's like a dance. You have to be really careful about what you can see or how that's styled to be able to make sure that we don't expose too much. It's going to be a 360-degree set because a lot of stuff is seen from the back. You are aware of how exposed everything is. There's a joy in that as well because all of our fabrics are kind of gorgeous, textured slightly, quite subtle. Sometimes [on camera] you can see the texture between silk and wool really close up and see Sarah's face so close up. It's about delighting in the detail of it rather than making sure that we're not found out.

[For wigs] you throw it off and then have to get it on matching an on-screen image, which is prerecorded. So we've had to design it in a way that is forgiving or precise so that it doesn't look so disheveled live. And because we had to shoot it before, obviously, we got into the theater, you have to make sure that we can make the costume changes in time because often they're over text. So she'll be speaking whilst people are changing her shoes, whilst people are changing things, and there's a camera circling her. And then the word will happen, wig, sideburns. So it has to kind of finish on a line.

And so to make sure that we go, "Well, can we do it in 20 seconds total or can we do it in 12 seconds total?" We've got to make sure that it can happen before we put it on film. Otherwise, we don't know that we can replicate exactly what we've done. So the early days, [it was] just terrifying. Because when we first put something on film, [we were] so scared of everything just to make sure it's possible to make sure that we're not committing to something that we can't fulfill live.

MC: What is the training process for the crew in terms of doing these costume changes?

MH: It's something that I think is a really specific skill that we've found it difficult to find the right people. It's so in front of everybody. It is like choreography, but it also has to be about a relationship with a performer where they trust you completely that you can be holding their shoe open and while they're talking, they know that you're going to be there when they put their foot down. And there's some changes that you don't see on stage because she's speaking to us and you can't see parts of her body that people are changing while she's speaking. So our wig person, [Nick Eynaud], who we're lucky to have in New York, who's done Australia and has done London has a great rapport with Sarah. There's a code, kind of like, "If I'm not ready..." She has to know that she's ready and then he's ready and go, “we're good.”

MC: Beyond Dorian, was there another character that was particularly difficult to crack aesthetically?

MH: There's a couple of characters who age. Lord Henry, we see him young and old, and we see the duchess a couple of times young and old. But they were pretty exciting to make because, again, by the time we're in that artificial, sickly country house, everybody's getting Botox and feels like they're denying their age. Sybil is a tricky character because I think that she can be two-dimensional and facile. But in the end, I leaned into the artifice of her as well, because we get to see her performing Juliet. I leaned into her looking like a Victorian doll with perfect ringlets and too much hair and all smiles. And then we see her backstage where she starts to take off her wig, and she's more of a real person. She was tricky to know how to pitch, and I guess that's a bit of a disappointing thing to have to admit that the women are harder.

But [as Sibyl] we've got her in a costume that's like a cupcake, and it's all tulle. It's her Juliet costume, so she's got a stab wound in her stomach that's all beaded red beads. And she's got red gloves that's all red beads like it's the beads of her blood when she's killed herself. It's actually one of my favorite costumes now because it's tiny, you only catch it for a little moment, but I think it's a silly kind of theatrical gesture that is making light or making ornament out of her death. It's so bedazzled. She looks so fabulous.

It is like choreography, but it also has to be about a relationship with a performer where they trust you completely that you can be holding their shoe open and while they're talking, they know that you're going to be there when they put their foot down.

MC: How are social media filters used in the show?

MH: One of the scenes that a lot of people have asked if it's pre-recorded is actually live manipulation. It’s when Sarah takes a photo live. And then while she is talking to us in a monologue, augments her face. I think one of the filters is called "baby." It's one of those things where you just look so perfect. [Also] in the opium den, she plays many people in a kind of hedonistic, loud environment. There [are multiple] people with iPhones, and if she's looking at this one, she looks like someone else.

MC: Were there any other key reference points for you in terms of designing and the aesthetic?

MH: The earlier [Dorian] looks I got really inspired by Ann Demeulemeester and the way that she made tops that had kind of lacings and things that were left undone or that trailed behind. Then I got quite obsessed with seeing suspender clips that you could see sticking out or underneath her jacket. It felt like there were layers or the underwear was kind of peeking out. There was some great Maison Margiela stuff that really felt like it was about cutting things up and putting them back together or that you would see the underlayer of things.

Actually, I was so inspired by the most recent collection where it was those shorts over those sheer skirts, but obviously, we made the show before that. But it felt exciting. It was looking at corsetry over the top of suiting.

MC: What did you find thematically relevant about designing for someone who was a woman playing a canonically male character?

MH: What we've done with Sarah, especially, is embrace her more traditionally feminine shape. And I don't know whether it's about bravado or if it's about posture—but physically, she's incredibly nuanced in terms of how she'll shift from one to the other. We have really changed how we approach those characters. In a photograph, I think she looks more feminine than masculine if you got rid of the context, but on stage it is very convincing as a very kind of masculine thing.

I think something that I learned is that all of those elements are very unexpected as to what denotes feminine, masculine or what can kind of tread that middle line. But I think there's something amazing about a character who is investigating excess or looking at how they are perceived in the world, if that is actually not who they inherently are. So it isn't actually about finding your true self, it is about finding something that you have manufactured or finding something that is other than yourself. There's something inherently great about that premise, I think.

<![CDATA[ Michelle Obama's Boho-Chic Crown Braid Revives the Yeehaw Agenda ]]> Michelle Obama marked her first public outing in months with a boho-chic look at South by Southwest festival. It was a fitting vibe for the former First Lady to channel at the multi-day event, which is hosted annually at the nexus of modern Americana: Austin, Texas.

On Mar. 13, the 61-year-old took the stage at Austin Convention Center with her brother, college basketball coach Craig Robinson, to record a live taping of their new podcast. Dubbed IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson, the conversational weekly show sees the sibling duo grapple with listener questions big and small. The topic for Thursday's session was transforming grief into hope—fitting, given the year she's had. What really renewed my will to carry on, though, was the best-selling author's crown braid, paired to a Rabanne set styled by Meredith Koop.

Obama's fabulous hairstyle created a halo around her face with rows of tightly wound brunette braids. Atop her head, several smaller braids were woven together to create a thicker braid that arched from ear to ear. Cascading curls fell to her waist behind her crown. As she walked, her ringlets billowed behind her like a windswept cowgirl riding into town on horseback.

Obama originally debuted her braids in August 2022 right before the long-awaited unveiling of her official White House portrait in the East Room. It felt like a symbolic choice for the former First Lady to don a more expressive style after years of sporting a perfect silk press while in office. The media mogul continued to wear braids on the 2024 presidential campaign trail with Kamala Harris, where Michelle frequently appeared to stump in support of the former Vice President's bid. At the Democratic National Convention, for instance, she pulled her micro-braids into a stunning fishtail braided updo with a deep side part.

That said, I'm partial to long and loose style she selected for South by Southwest. It complimented the Western flair of her burnt orange lace-up matching set so perfectly that I can't help but tip my hat. Rest assured, the yeehaw agenda is alive and well.

<![CDATA[ Michelle Obama Lassos Spring 2025's Zestiest Color Trend at SXSW in a Western Matching Set ]]> Did a former First Lady shop Bella Hadid's closet at her Texas ranch? Because Michelle Obama lassoed her most cowgirl-coded look on record—and played with spring 2025 color trends—for her March 13 panel at the annual SXSW (South by Southwest) festival.

Obama skipped all her usual style codes for a casual conversation with her brother, National Association of Basketball Coaches executive director Craig Robinson, about their new podcast, IMO. She traded her leopard-spotted Theory blazers and Monse pantsuits for a Western matching set. Her longtime stylist, Meredith Koop, confirmed to Marie Claire the designer behind her boxy jacket with two rows of criss-crossing leather laces and coordinating high-rise pants is French label Rabanne.

The burnt-orange shade and lace details definitely could have belonged in Hadid's recent slate of rodeo queen outfits. They'd also pair nicely with a ten-gallon hat for front-row seats at Beyoncé's upcoming Cowboy Carter tour. But Mrs. Obama kept things from feeling too "Texas Hold 'Em" by balancing out her set with sleek black ankle boots, a plain black T-shirt, and delicate Kendra Scott jewelry. A boho-chic crown braid and long, cascading curls flowed over her shoulders and down her back.

Michelle Obama's SXSW matching set coordinates with one of the spring 2025 runways' favorite Pantone swatches. Designers from Miu Miu to Dries van Noten all but painted their collections in tangerine orange this season; so did Alberta Ferretti and Loewe. Obama's set is notably more yeehaw than those collections' takes on the color trend: Most sampled the fruity shade in the form of silk dresses and diaphanous skirts.

Saddling up to a Western matching set is Obama's way of method dressing for SXSW, an Austin institution since 1987. It's also another example of the former First Lady's adventurous style since the end of President Obama's administration. Mrs. Obama and stylist Meredith Koop approached the presidential years with a focus on championing American designers and accessible pieces any citizen tuning into the State of the Union could wear. (Most famously, she wore J.Crew cardigans at the White House.) Now as a best-selling author, voting rights advocate, and podcaster, she can have more fun with fashion—and embrace her luxury side.

Obama has attended talkshows wearing head-to-toe Bottega Veneta and hosted fireside chats in thigh-high Balenciaga boots. Serious moments, such as her appearances on Kamala Harris's presidential campaign trail, required more somber and straightforward suiting. Her vibrant SXSW matching set is both a return to form—Kendra Scott, the maker of her jewelry, is an Austin-based brand—and adventurous new terrain. We'll say yeehaw to that.

<![CDATA[ The Trendy Tote Bag Kaia Gerber Has Carried for Six Months Straight Is Finally Back in Stock ]]> Kaia Gerber is the most unabashed outfit repeater I've ever encountered. When the 23-year-old comes across a piece she loves, she fully commits and buys backups in multiple shades. Capsule wardrobes may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the model's wardrobe could make anyone reconsider.

On Mar. 12, the Library Science book club founder stepped out for a lunch date wearing only her most beloved closet staples. She matched a loose pair of black trousers to a cropped black V-neck cashmere sweater that was rolled up to her elbows like an old-school J.Crew catalog muse. Her chunky knit coordinated well with her extremely broken-in Repetto black leather ballet flats. Not a day goes by where she isn't traipsing around New York City or Los Angeles in these French girl-favorite slippers, which were created at the personal request of Brigitte Bardot. But the accessory we really need to discuss here is the Bottoms actor's trusty Paloma Wool tote: a crackled black leather style called the Philana bag.

A photo of Kaia Gerber accessorizing her black sweater, trousers, and ballet flats with Paloma Wool's black Philana tote bag.

With a row of oversized silver grommets lining the bag's rim, this edgy shopper has basically taken up permanent residence on the star's arm for the last six months. The under-$500 bag's first sighting came in late October 2024 when Gerber wore it to run errands in her black SUV. And in January alone, she reached for it four times as the finishing touch to her athleisure-laden breakup outfit, her off-duty theater kid uniform, her comfy-casual matcha run look, and her soft-launch date-night ensemble. She also owns the versatile carryall in an aged brown leather colorway.

What makes the Spanish brand's studded leather accessory so appealing? One explanation is its unique dimensions, which split the difference between a shoulder bag you can tuck neatly beneath your arm and a tote bag you can pile high with possessions. This style also happens to be wider than it is tall, making it an ideal example of the East-West bag trend's far-reaching implications. Starting in 2022, nearly every luxury designer from Dior and Bottega Veneta to Hermès and Louis Vuitton has incorporated the trend into their lineups at least once.

Three years into the East-West trend cycle, bags of this shape are now available at a wide range of price points. And the obsession with compact, rectangular styles doesn't seem to be slowing down. But don't take my word for it—take Kaia Gerber's.

<![CDATA[ Patina Miller’s Stiletto French Manicure Needs No Introduction ]]> Patina Miller is on her way to becoming your next beauty muse. On Mar. 12, the actor was in New York City for a press run to promote Power Book III: Raising Kanan, in which she plays Raquel Thomas, the main character’s mother. For the occasion, Miller wore a black sweater with asymmetrical fringe detailing and paired it with a sheer black skirt lined with a white silk fabric. Miller’s hair was lightly curled, courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Ro Morgan and her monochromatic makeup softly accented her features. But what really caught my eye was her super sultry stiletto French manicure.

Miller’s nails were first cut and filed into a medium-length stiletto, which is essentially a tapered shape with a rounded edge that is filed into a pointed tip. They were then painted what appears to be a cool-toned white before being finished off with a traditional smile line for an updated version of the classic French tip. The actor opted out of any additional nail art or charms, allowing the timeless design to stand on its own.

Almond and stiletto seem to be Miller’s go-to nail shapes lately. Whether she’s been wearing minimal single color manicures or donning gorgeous designs on each finger, the one thing that never seems to change is her preferred silhouettes. Nowadays, recreating your favorite manicures at home, even a dramatic shape like a stiletto nail, just requires the right tools and a few detailed tutorials pulled up on your phone. That being said, I fell down the DIY rabbit hole a long time ago, so keep reading for the products you need to have on hand to get Miller’s exact stiletto look.

<![CDATA[ How Queen Camilla Secretly Supported Survivor of Shocking Rape Case ]]> In a powerful demonstration of her ongoing commitment to supporting domestic abuse survivors, Queen Camilla has personally reached out to Gisèle Pelicot, the French woman whose harrowing story of betrayal shocked the world. The 77-year-old Queen was "tremendously affected" by Pelicot's case, in which her husband of 50 years drugged her and invited strangers to rape her over nearly a decade.

A Buckingham Palace source revealed the royal's gesture to Newsweek, explaining that for Queen Camilla, "it was very much her instigation and determination to write to express support from the highest level."

The insider added that The Queen was personally impacted by "that lady's extraordinary dignity and courage as she put herself in the public eye." Pelicot said she wanted "shame to change sides" when it comes to rape victims, which is why she waived her right to anonymity during the high-profile trial.

The private letter reflects The Queen's longtime dedication to amplifying survivors' voices and addressing issues many would prefer to keep hidden. She's visited domestic abuse centers in the U.K. and around the world to meet with survivors and volunteers, and in 2013, she launched the Wash Bag Project, providing essential toiletries to sexual assault survivors following forensic examinations.

And during the pandemic, when domestic violence rates surged alarmingly, Camilla used her platform to raise awareness through virtual engagements.

In February, Queen Camilla paid a visit to Brave Spaces, a sexual assault referral center in Exeter, England. When Sarah, a domestic abuse survivor, became emotional during a group photo, Camilla gently brought her to the front, ensuring this woman who had endured a decade of abuse stood proudly in the center.

"She's got compassion," reflected Afnan Tellesy, who received support from Brave Spaces, told Newsweek. "The idea that The Queen would come and talk to them just wouldn't have entered their minds," added program manager Jeanie Lynch, noting how transformative the royal acknowledgment was for women rebuilding their lives.

<![CDATA[ Meet the Cast of 'Adolescence' ]]> One of the most harrowing miniseries in recent memory comes to Netflix on March 13: Adolescence. The U.K.-set series follows Jamie—a 13-year-old boy who is accused of stabbing a female classmate to death—across four single-take episodes as he is questioned by police, evaluated by a psychologist, and jailed while he awaits trial.

Adolescence is co-created by Stephen Graham, who also stars as Jamie’s father, as a response to the rise of knife crime in the U.K. The must-watch series will break your heart as it aims to interrogate masculinity and what causes this type of violence, without leaning on tropes we’ve seen before. “The dad is not violent, the mom is not an alcoholic, he’s not been abused or molested. How can we look at what’s happening to young boys today in our society if we take away the things we would normally construct a drama around?” Graham told the Los Angeles Times.

The four-part Netflix crime drama features both familiar faces and new ones to play the various investigators and people in Jamie’s life. Read on to familiarize yourself with the cast of Adolescence.

Owen Cooper as Jamie Miller

Owen Cooper, 15, plays Jamie, the 13-year-old at the story's center. In the opening moments of the limited series, Jamie is ripped from his bed and charged with murder.

This is Cooper’s first acting credit, period. The newcomer landed his debut gig through a self-tape, shot the series when he was 14, and immediately made an impact. His co-star Erin Doherty, who he shares the screen with for almost the entirety of the third episode, told The Guardian that Cooper was “hands down one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with.” Meanwhile, creator and co-star Stephen Graham likened him to Edward Norton. Next, he’ll appear alongside Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi, and Hong Chau in Emerald Fennell’s book-to-movie adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

Stephen Graham as Eddie Miller

stephan graham as eddie miller in adolescence walking through a parking lot outside of a police station

Stephen Graham, 51, plays Jamie’s father, Eddie. While in custody, Jamie elects him to be his “appropriate adult,” sitting alongside his son as the police present their evidence against him. The fourth episode centers on Eddie grappling with the truth and feeling he’s failed as a parent.

Graham doesn’t just act in the series but co-created it alongside Jack Thorne (who also wrote/produced Netflix’s Toxic Town and The Eddy, HBO’s His Dark Materials, and other series). The BAFTA-nominated British acting icon’s previous credits include the films Snatch, Gangs of New York, and The Irishman, as well as TV roles on Boardwalk Empire, This is England, and Peaky Blinders. Before Adolescence, he also co-created the 2023 BBC One miniseries Boiling Point, a four-part continuation sequel series to the 2021 film of the same name he starred in.

Ashley Walters as DI Luke Bascombe

ashley waters as detective Inspector Bascombe walking outside of the school with a memorial set up in the tv show adolescence

Ashley Walters, 42, is DI Bascombe, the leading detective on Jamie’s case. He has a strained relationship with his son, and the case subtly encourages him to be more present in his son’s life.

Walters is best known for his role as drug dealer Dushane in the hit British crime drama Top Boy. He led the series during its original two-season run from 2011 to 2013 and returned for its revival for three more seasons from 2019 to 2023. Walters has also appeared in popular British shows like Bulletproof, Doctor Who, and Cuffs, and is a rapper and member of the U.K. garage group So Solid Crew.

Christine Tremarco as Manda Miller

Christine Tremarco, 48, plays Manda Miller, Jamie’s mom. As Jamie requests his father be his “appropriate adult,” Manda appears sparingly throughout the series until the finale, where she and Eddie deal with the aftermath of their son’s actions.

Tremarco is a British actress from Liverpool, England who began her career on the ‘90s BBC 'miniseries The Leaving of Liverpool before appearing in Waterloo Road, Casualty, Wolfe, and Emmerdale.

Erin Doherty as Briony Ariston

Erin Doherty, 32, appears as Briony Ariston in the third episode of the series, a child psychologist hired to evaluate Jamie’s state of mind and understanding of the crime he’s being accused of.

Doherty played Princess Anne on The Crown for two seasons before appearing opposite Adolescence creator Graham in the Hulu drama A Thousand Blows. Before transitioning to film/TV, Doherty was primarily a theater actress in the U.K., appearing in stage productions in London and studying at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where she won the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Award in 2015.

Like Doherty, Marsay is an alum of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School where she won the Spotlight Prize in 2012. She has appeared in recurring roles on TV series like Andor, Game of Thrones, and The White Queen, as well as films like Darkest Hour, A Private War, and Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

<![CDATA[ This Royal Was Once Asked to Become King of a Small European Country and Refused ]]> As Prince William prepares for his upcoming visit to Estonia on March 20, a little-known royal story has reemerged about another member of his family and an unexpected royal proposition.

In the aftermath of the Soviet Union's collapse, Estonia sought to establish its new identity. While most newly liberated Eastern European nations embraced democracy, Estonia's Independent Royalist Party had different aspirations. After securing eight parliamentary seats in the country's first elections in 1994, the party embarked on an extraordinary mission—to transform Estonia into a constitutional monarchy.

Their royal candidate? Prince Edward, Queen Elizabeth II's youngest son. Although he seems like an unusual choice, Edward was far enough down the line of British succession to make him pretty much off the table as its future King. He also wasn't married, although the prince was dating his now-wife, Sophie, at the time.

The Estonian group was so serious about Prince Edward that they actually contacted Buckingham Palace about the matter. The Sunday Telegraph reported in 1994 that party leadership made a formal approach to the palace, describing Edward as the "perfect" candidate for their vacant throne. The admiration was apparently "enormous," with the party indicating Estonia would be "honored" by his acceptance.

"Your background as an actor and television producer would be ideal to create the majesty a new king would require to combine ancient culture with modern political reality," the letter read, in part (via People).

Buckingham Palace acknowledged the suggestion as "a charming idea but a rather unlikely one," ending any possibility of King Edward of Estonia.

Instead, Estonia established itself as a parliamentary republic and eventually joined both NATO and the European Union. And rather than becoming a European king, Prince Edward went on to earn his late father Prince Philip's title, becoming the Duke of Edinburgh when King Charles granted his brother the honor on his 59th birthday.

And even though he's not a monarch, Prince Edward is now one of the hardest-working members of the Royal Family, even if he was once dubbed "Prince Brat" after a disastrous 1987 press conference for the show It's a Royal Knockout.

Prince William's upcoming two-day visit to Estonia marks his first official time visiting the nation—a country that, in a parallel universe, might have welcomed him as the nephew of their monarch rather than as a representative of the British crown.

<![CDATA[ Prince William Could be Getting a New Title Very Soon Following Exciting News ]]> Prince William's year has been off to a busy start, with a variety of U.K. engagements and a trip to Estonia scheduled. But when he's not carrying out royal duties or spending time with his young family, the Prince of Wales enjoys friendships with a close circle of longtime confidantes. On March 12, the prince went wild over Aston Villa's win with Princess Charlotte's godfather Thomas van Straubenzee and their close friend Edward van Cutsem. But it was another pal from their group who made news this week after making a happy announcement—and Prince William could be getting the title of godfather.

A spokesperson for Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, announced on March 12, "The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are very pleased to share that the Duchess is expecting a baby in the summer. The couple are delighted with the news and are very much looking forward to starting a family together."

The Duke of Westminster has been friends with Prince William and Prince Harry for many years and is a godfather to both Prince George and Prince Archie—making it extremely likely that the Prince of Wales will make the cut when it comes to the list of baby Westminster's godparents.

In fact, Grosvenor has his own royal godparent; his godfather is none other than The King. The royal ties don't end there, however, as the Duke of Westminster's mother is one of Prince William's godmothers.

Grosvenor married his wife Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral on June 7, 2024, with Prince William serving as an usher at his close friend's wedding. Prince Harry didn't attend the ceremony, with a source telling People at the time that there was "an understanding between the two friends" that it would have been difficult for him to be at the ceremony for numerous reasons.

In addition to his ongoing security concerns in the U.K., the Duke of Sussex could have drawn uncomfortable attention considering his brother's duty as an usher.

As for the new Westminster baby, he or she will be born into quite an impressive family. Before his marriage, Grosvenor was considered to be the most eligible bachelor in Britain thanks to his fortune and title. In fact, he was named the richest person in the U.K. under age 40 on the Sunday Times 2024 rich list with a staggering fortune of $13 billion, making him even wealthier than any members of the Royal Family.

<![CDATA[ Spring 2025's Most Viral Color Trends Are All on Sale at Nordstrom Right Now ]]> I’m a self-proclaimed minimalist who loves nothing more than to dress in neutrals. However, I’ve recently decided to give my warm-weather capsule wardrobe a vibrant boost by playing into the latest spring 2025 color trends. And to my surprise, the most viral shades of the season are beyond easy to style. Even better, they're all discounted right now during Nordstrom's Spring Sale.

During fashion month, designers like Ulla Johnson and Chanel experimented with a soft butter yellow color palette while Sandy Liang and Ferragamo opted for powdery pink. On the other hand, Gucci and Hermès decided to forgo pastels in favor of bold, juicy cherry red tones. Across other runways, there were also various ocean blue, pistachio green, and mocha mousse hues.

These color trends have since trickled down from the catwalks to a handful of retailers, including Nordstrom. Did I mention that the beloved retailer is hosting a huge spring sale? Through Monday, March 24, Nordstrom will offer up to 50 percent off select items. I discovered a sleek slip skirt for $39 and a lace-trimmed mini dress for $43, and that's just a sneak peek. Scroll on for a handpicked list of 36 on-sale items that embrace spring 2025’s best color trends.

Cherry Red

Cherry red has been dominating fashion’s trend cycle for several seasons now, and this fiery shade shows no signs of slowing down. It’s the type of color you drench yourself in when you’re looking for a boost of confidence.

Ocean Blue

If you’re in the mood to manifest a coastal getaway, consider tints of blue that resemble clear Caribbean waters. Take your nautical-inspired look up a notch by enhancing your outfit with fisherman aesthetic accessories like net bags and shell necklaces.

Powdery Pink

For those of you who are wondering, the girlhood aesthetic is very much alive and well. Provided that you want to add an ultra-feminine touch to your outfit, try one of the charming styles below. Keep things casual with trendy sneakers or elevate your look with a slip dress.

Butter Yellow

According to Ulla Johnson, the best shade of yellow starts with a “B” and ends with an “R”. (Image credit: Launchemtrics)

If you didn’t test-drive the butter yellow color trend last year, now is the perfect opportunity to sample this tasty shade. Yep, it’s back for another spin around the trend cycle, and Nordstrom has everything you could possibly need to incorporate this hue into your closet.

Pistachio Green

In the world of Chloé, no spring wardrobe is complete without a splash of green. (Image credit: Launchmetrics)

I don’t own a single item of pistachio green clothing, but Chloé’s Spring 2025 collection convinced me that I must give this color a try this season. I’ll be doing just that with the selection of pieces below, from cropped trench coats that will keep me cool amid temperature dips to airy maxi dresses that will save me during heat waves.

Mocha Mousse

For the minimalist girlies who aren’t fond of saturated shades, don’t stress. Jason Wu and a slew of other designers have an alternative for you—it’s called mocha mousse. (Image credit: Launchmetrics)

A few months ago, Marie Claire’s E-Commerce Editor Julia Marzovilla predicted that shades of mocha mousse would soon be everywhere, and boy, was she right. Coveted brands like Madewell, Mango, and Open Edit are all favoring this chocolatey color, and it’s only a matter of time before other labels hop on board.

<![CDATA[ Khloé Kardashian Finds It "Insulting" When Kendall and Kylie Are Called Her Half-Sisters ]]> Over the past nearly 20 years, the world has become very familiar with the Kardashian-Jenner family. (Yeah, that's right. Keeping Up with the Kardashians premiered in 2007!) And while their reality show was intitially all about being a blended family, Khloé Kardashian has just shared that she finds it "insulting" when Kendall and Kylie Jenner are referred to as her "half-sisters". Because, while that's technically true, she doesn't view them that way.

"I absolutely despise when people call Kendall and Kylie our half-sisters," Khloé said to her mother, Kris Jenner, on a recent episode of her podcast, Khloé in Wonderland (via E! News). “Because I’m like, ‘No, those are my real sisters. I was born and raised with them, spent every minute with them.’ And so I really find that insulting when people say that about us."

The 40-year-old reality star went on to say that being a blended family came naturally, to the point where it wasn't something that needed to be talked about much.

"I don’t remember there ever needing to be a discussion,” Khloé explained. “Even with my dad, I felt like... we’ve always had this really strong family dynamic."

In case you need a refresher: Khloé's father is the late Robert Kardashian Sr., and he is also the dad of Kourtney, Kim, and Robert Kardashian Jr. After divorcing Robert Sr., their mother, Kris Jenner, married Caitlyn Jenner and they welcomed Kendall and Kylie. When Kendall was born, Khloé was 11 years old.

Kris told Khloé of her family, "We did everything together, and nobody was ever left out. Not even your dad." She added that Robert became known to Kylie and Kendall as "Uncle Robert".

Caitlyn also has four more children: Burt Jenner and Cassandra Marino with Chrystie Scott, and Brandon and Brody Jenner with Linda Thompson. Clearly, it's a big family with plenty of step-siblings, as well as half-siblings who feel like simply siblings, as Khloé explained.

And while the Kardashian-Jenners are close, over the years, some of them have had closer relationships than others. In 2023, Kylie told Vanity Fair Italia that Kim was her favorite sister. "It changes over time. Right now it's Kim," she said. "We are very connected, she is always the first sister I call when I need something. We have been going through a lot of similar experiences lately."

Also in 2023, Kim said in a YouTube video for Hailey Bieber's channel that Khloé was her favorite and that she felt "so protective of her."

Back in 2018, Khloé was asked to rank Rob, Kourtney, and Kim on Watch What Happens Live. She put Rob last, because she was mad at him for saying in an interview that Kylie was his favorite. Then she put Kim in the middle, and Kourtney at the top.

Well, when you film a reality show together for two decades while becoming some of the most famous people on the planet, dynamics are going to shift. Just don't go calling anyone a half-sister unless you want to upset Khloé.

<![CDATA[ Hailey Bieber Stalks the No-Pants Trend in a Saint Laurent Snow Leopard Coat and Sheer Tights ]]> Hailey Bieber has basically become a walking fur coat at this point. I'd even venture to say she's single-handedly carrying the no-pants trend on her back.

On Mar. 12, the Rhode founder shared an Instagram photo dump from her 32-hour stint at Paris Fashion Week that featured multiple fabulous coats, all worn sans pants. Of course, she made sure to highlight the black leather bomber jacket she wore with a skintight LBD and black satin pumps—which notably featured a built-in ankle bracelet—to Saint Laurent's star-studded after-party. The mother of one also included a picture of the crushed ivory velvet Schiaparelli blazer she and stylist Dani Michelle accessorized with a matching pair of Mary Jane flats and a beaded bag. But in between those slides, I caught sight of a previously unseen addition to her vast collection of furry statement outerwear.

A photo of Hailey Bieber sporting a Saint Laurent leopard fox fur coat with tights instead of pants.

In one selfie, the FILA muse could be seen posing in a voluminous leopard print coat with flecks of pale pink, daffodil yellow, and cherry red fur mixed among the brown and black spots. Some digging soon revealed the jacket to be a Saint Laurent dyed fox fur collector's item.

The piece couldn't have resurfaced in Bieber's closet at a better time. All winter long, the 28-year-old has been campaigning fiercely for the Yeti coat trend's ascendancy alongside fellow celebrities like Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, and Suki Waterhouse. Clearly, their efforts to make dressing like mythical creature cool again are paying off.

No pant on planet Earth would have been able to hold its own in juxtaposition with her fluffy snow leopard jacket. Instead, the beauty mogul accessorized her Saint Laurent throwback with sheer black tights and matching black '90s-inspired oval sunglasses. Never one to leave the house without a generous helping of gold jewelry, the star also wore a chunky ring and a row of coordinating stud earrings to accent her slick brunette bun. In terms of Hailey Bieber outfit ideas, it simply doesn't get more classic than this.

<![CDATA[ Without Donatella Versace, Celebrity Style Will Never Be the Same ]]> Before there was "quiet luxury" or "stealth wealth," there was Donatella Versace.

The original maximalist, Versace began her reign in 1997, introducing her famously flamboyant designs as an antidote to the understated elegance of the '90s. There was nothing stealthy or quiet about her extravagant creations—nay, they existed to cause a scene.

The longtime creative director made dressing for your bank account the norm, outfitting society's most elite in opulent pieces that embody the lyrics Lady Gaga once wrote for her in a 2013 track from ArtPop: "I'm a rich b*tch, I'm the upper class."

Some 28 years later, CNN reports, Versace has announced she will be stepping down from her leading role to be replaced by Dario Vitale (previously of Bottega Veneta and Miu Miu). Celebrity style as we know it will never be the same.

Best known for her delightfully garish chainlink motifs, liquid gold dresses, and tweed creations covered in pearls, Versace's impact on fashion as a whole is insurmountable. She was single-handedly responsible for the creation of Google Image Search, having designed the tropical dress Jennifer Lopez wore to inspire it.

The designer can be credited with some of history's most memorable works of wearable art. During her decades-long career, Versace dressed every manner of the influential—from global pop stars and supermodels to First Ladies. Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Anne Hathaway, Gigi Hadid, and more are among her most celebrated fans.

Acting as co-chair in 2018, Versace was the architect behind some of the Met Gala's most talked-about looks in history. She designed Zendaya's famous Joan of Arc armor, Blake Lively's Statue of Liberty gown, Kim Kardashian's golden "Heavenly Bodies" dress, as well as Kendall and Kylie Jenner's coordinating showgirl looks.

The label's signature Medusa logo has traveled the globe on the backs of the music industry's biggest stars. Versace has dressed artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Shakira for some of the most talked-about performances of the last decade. She even collaborated with Dua Lipa on a special edition collection, named "La Vacanza," in 2023.

For the first time in the 47 years since its founding, the house of Versace will not be run by the family it was named for. And though the brand will soon be entering a new era, Donatella's legacy will never be forgotten.

<![CDATA[ How Zendaya Helped Co-Star Robert Pattinson When He Was "Going Crazy" for Three Days Over a Scene ]]> Confirmed! Zendaya is the direct, yet calming presence she seems like. (Doesn't she seem like that? I can't be the only one who thinks so.) In a new interview, Robert Pattinson—Zendaya's co-star in the upcoming film The Drama and man who does not sound like a particularly calming presence—explained that the Challengers actor was able to soothe him and give him the advice he needed when he spent three days "going crazy" over a line in their script.

"We had a scene together that was driving me crazy,” Pattinson told the French publication Première (via IndieWire). “I was desperately looking for its meaning, writing pages and pages of textual analysis."

When this didn't get the Mickey 17 star the answers he was looking for, he called up his co-star.

"I ended up calling Zendaya the night before shooting the scene. I shared my doubts with her, I spoke for two hours, and after a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning," Pattinson explained. "And there I was going crazy for three days."

It seems this isn't out of the ordinary for Pattinson. "I tend to stumble over the meaning of things,” he told Première (via People). "To the point of overdoing it, trying to solve mysteries that aren't really mysteries."

While not much plot information has been released yet, The Drama is said to be a comedy-drama about a couple whose relationship changes just before their wedding. Co-stars include Mamoudou Athie and Alana Haim. The film is written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, who is known for the 2023 surreal dramedy Dream Scenario, starring Nicolas Cage. There is not yet a release date for the new movie.

While writing analysis and spiraling over a scene is one thing, Pattinson has shared other much more unique ways he's prepared for roles, too. For the 2019 psychological horror film The Lighthouse he told Esquire, "It was crazy. I spent so much time making myself throw up. Pissing my pants. It’s the most revolting thing. I don’t know, maybe it’s really annoying."

For the 2017 thriller Good Time, he told The New Zealand Herald, that he lived in a dark basement apartment with unwashed sheets and survived on cans of tuna. (Earlier on in his career, Pattinson also had a habit of making things up in interviews, so take this all with a grain of salt.) Just a guess, but Zendaya maybe could have talked him out of these techniques, too.

This month has certainly been jam-packed for the duchess. Earlier in March, she launched With Love, Meghan, joining special guests like Mindy Kaling to share her favorite cooking and entertaining tips and tricks. The Netflix series has been renewed for a second season, which will premiere this fall.

<![CDATA[ J.Crew’s New Spring Collection Offers Nostalgia and Dopamine All at Once ]]> If you were to meet me in real life, you would know that my style relies almost exclusively on neutrals like black, white, and grey. But that all changed when J.Crew dropped their newest spring collection, which showcases the brighter side of things.

The pieces debuted on J.Crew’s website this week offer spring and summer essentials like linen pants and breezy dresses in bright colors like Kelly green, butter yellow, and cherry red. The brand’s signatures get a warm-weather refresh, too. Cashmere crewnecks are swapped for '90s polo-stye tees and cardigans, and silky slip skirts are refashioned into lightweight linen styles perfect for your warm-weather vacations.

The nostalgia goes beyond just the clothes. The collection's launch aligns with the second edition of its revival print catalog, which reimagines the brand's classic preppy image. This edition features former J.Crew model Liya Kebede’s family—marking sixteen years since she first appeared in the original catalog—and introduces her daughter, Raee. Clearly, good style is in J.Crew's DNA.

<![CDATA[ Reese Witherspoon Pairs a Celine Tweed Jacket and Oversize Sunglasses With the Brand's Most-Wanted Bag ]]> Reese Witherspoon is jumping headfirst into the Celine renaissance. On Mar. 12, the Big Little Lies actor was spotted out and about in New York City sporting a full look from the French luxury brand.

After picking up coffee and pastries with a friend, the Legally Blonde alum strolled around Manhattan's NoHo neighborhood clad in the label's timelessly chic Chasseur Jacket. Cut from black bouclé tweed, the slightly cropped design features gold buttons and braided piping at the collar and pockets. The star seamlessly coordinated the buttons of her tweed topper with the gold chain strap and Triomphe logo closure on her black calfskin East-West flap bag—a day-to-night style dubbed the Celine Victoire. Introduced through former creative director Hedi Slimane's Summer 2024 collection, the carryall is an homage to '90s nostalgia and the period in which Slimane got his start in fashion.

The media mogul layered her Celine investment pieces with a long-sleeved black sweater and flare jeans. Could these be the very same Celine Marco flares Kendrick Lamar wore during his Super Bowl 2025 halftime show? Rihanna owns them, too, and and recently wore them to dinner at her favorite Italian restaurant with a brown leather bomber jacket, fur stole, and snakeskin boots. Here, Witherspoon opted for a pointy pair of black ballet flats instead.

As a final nod to Slimane's legacy, the 48-year-old completed her look with Celine's black acetate Triomphe 04 sunglasses and a bubble bath pink manicure.

In October, Celine announced a new designer would take the helm in 2025. Polo Ralph Laurent alum Michael Rider will make his debut later this year, while Slimane moves on to as-yet-unannounced new ventures. It's safe to say celebrities like Witherspoon will stick with the house in its new era—brand loyalty is a virtue.

<![CDATA[ How Kate Middleton Revealed Her "Inner Steel" and Proved She Was a "Tough Cookie" During Awkward Party Moment ]]> The year was 2007, and Kate Middleton—who at the time, was Prince William's ex-girlfriend—joined her sister Pippa at a book launch party in London. The photos reveal a smiling 25-year-old Kate dressed in a cream-colored lace dress and black slingback heels, looking like any twenty-some society girl at the time. But nearly two decades later, the Daily Mail's Richard Eden has revealed the telling conversation he had with Middleton during the event and what it revealed about her "tough" character.

Eden first met Kate on May 14, 2007 when they were both attending the launch party for Simon Sebag Montefiore’s biography Young Stalin at London's Asprey store (ironically, a brand Middleton would go on to wear many times as a princess).

Eden shared that the former royal girlfriend spoke to him "in a group with Sebag Montefiore’s sister-in-law, the TV presenter Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, who sadly died a decade later at the age of 45." At one point in the conversation, Palmer-Tomkinson, a famous figure on the London social scene, asked Middleton about her breakup. The socialite was no stranger to the royals—Palmer-Tomkinson's parents were friends of The King (then Prince Charles) and she was well-acquainted with Prince William.

As Eden noted, she "was not shy about speaking intimately about him to Catherine." Middleton, however, wasn't having it.

The Daily Mail columnist shared that "Tara, typically, got straight down to what everyone really wanted to know about: Catherine’s break-up with William." The couple had sadly split that spring, and "had been a big story since it had been disclosed a few months earlier."

When Palmer-Tomkinson asked "How are you doing?" Middleton replied with a one-word answer, stating, "Fine" and "blushing," per Eden. "'It must be so hard...' Tara persisted," he continued. This was when the future Queen put her foot down, with Eden recalling that she "replied firmly if uncomfortably," stating, "Really, it's fine."

"She made clear with her body language that she didn’t wish to discuss the subject, and the conversation moved swiftly on to happier and less fraught matters," the columnist wrote of the awkward breakup chat.

It was this encounter that made a lasting impression on Eden, who pointed out that Middleton "was seen as a party-loving girlfriend of William" at the time. He continued that his "first encounter with her taught me that she was a tough cookie who wasn’t going to be inveigled into saying something she didn’t want to say by anyone—not even a close friend of the royals."

Her demeanor even reminded the writer "of members of the Royal Family, much older than herself," musing that the royals "have the uncanny ability to make small-talk with anyone" without giving away anything of note. Eden pointed out that although the princess "has changed in many ways" over the years, she showed "a hint of that inner steel which has stood her so well in the years since."

Of course, Middleton went on to get back together with William later that year, and we all know the rest of the story. During their 2010 engagement interview, Kate reflected on their time apart, stating, "I at the time wasn’t very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person. You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realized. I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you’re younger, and I really valued that time for me, as well."

<![CDATA[ Selena Gomez Just Sold a $3,000 Benny Blanco Ring to a Fan for $12 ]]> Selena Gomez is the third most-followed person on Instagram with a whopping 421 million followers. So, there are a lot of people who would be interested in owning something of hers... like, say, a $3,000 diamond ring? As part of her 12 Days of Really Rare Stuff countdown to the release of her joint album with fiancé Benny Blanco, Gomez is giving away—or selling for really cheap, in some cases—12 sentimental items to lucky fans.

"I thought it would be fun to give away some ‘rare memories’ I've kept over the years every day until our album comes out," Gomez said in a March 9 Instagram video. The album, I Said I Love You First, will be released March 21.

In the Instagram video, the 32-year-old added that her "day one fans will know where to look" for the giveaways. The answer is her website, where each item is released along with links to sign up to enter for future items. She's also posted updates on Instagram.

The first piece of Really Rare Stuff released was a diamond ring with a B on it in honor of Blanco. Gomez posted a photo of herself wearing the ring in December 2023 to confirm her relationship with the music producer.

"For the first day of #12DaysOfReallyRareStuff, which is also a countdown to I Said I Love You First, it felt fitting to choose something that is a symbol of the start of our relationship," the description on Gomez's website reads. "This is the exact, real ring that I posted to my Instagram story in December 2023." It's now marked as "sold out" with the price showing that it went for $12.

According to Page Six, the ring was custom designed by Jacquie Aiche. It is reportedly worth $3,250 and includes .44 carats of pavé diamonds.

So far, Gomez has listed two other items. Day 2 was a giveaway of a signed handbag from her Coach collaboration. For this one, fans had a limited amount of time to submit entries to get the bag for free. One day three, a neon sign of a peach with the word "Fetish"—referring to her 2017 single of the same name—was sold for $10. "This has been on my wall for years, but I want one of you to have it," Gomez shared. "I know this song is special to so many of you, so I hope one of you hangs this neon sign somewhere special."

While Gomez will no longer have her "B" ring, she's probably just fine without it considering the major upgrade she got recently. In December, Gomez revealed that she and Blanco are engaged. Her marquise diamond engagement ring has been estimated to be worth around $250,000.

Gomez first mentioned her love for marquise diamonds in her 2015 song "Good for You." (I'm on my marquise diamonds/I'm a marquise diamond/Could even make that Tiffany jealous.) In an joint interview with Blanco for Interview magazine, Gomez said, "Ever since the 'Good for You' days—that was, gosh, so many years ago—that’s the diamond I’ve always dreamed of."

Yeah, no one's ever getting this one for $12.

<![CDATA[ Anne Hathaway's Burgundy Adidas Sambas Expertly Translate a Winter Color Trend to Spring ]]> In the years since Adidas Sambas hit it big, many sneakers have been dubbed their successor. Pumas Speedcats and Salomons both had their moment, as well as other Adidas styles, like the Gazelle and viral Wales Bonner collab. But try as they might, competitors simply cannot outpace the Samba—this trainer is in it for the long haul.

The sneaker is beloved far and wide, with celeb fans like Bella Hadid, Olivia Rodrigo, Kaia Gerber, and beyond. But even with such wide-spread support, few are as staunchly pro-Samba as actor Anne Hathaway. The Idea of You star has made them an integral part of her weekend wardrobe, regularly slipping hers on for sanity walks and casual outings. And though she's loyal to the OG suede-trimmed design, her color choices vary.

Of course, Hathaway keeps a classic white pair on tap, but yesterday, she debuted a brand new color. While out in Los Angeles on March 12, the star went laid-back and cool. Looking like a Free People ad campaign, she wore a smattering of granola mom basics, styling her army green cargo pants with a khaki padded jacket. From there, Hathaway added a corduroy hobo bag and baseball cap (her off-duty favorite), finishing with—you guessed it!—a pair of burgundy OG Sambas.

Instead of opting for classic black or some form of neutral—like Katie Holmes or Kendall Jenner, for example—Hathaway chose to sport the iconic sneaker style in a rich shade of merlot, effectively playing into one of winter 2025's biggest color trends. Hathaway's cool-girl footwear is totally sold out on the Adidas website, but they can still be found at retailers like Farfetch.

Though their reign has certainly been long-lasting, this is a sure sign that Sambas aren't going anywhere any time soon—at least not if Anne Hathaway has anything to do with it.

<![CDATA[ You Won’t Get Chelsea Handler In the Mood Without a Tongue Scraper and Cashmere-Soft Skin ]]> Beauty routines are integral to getting In The Mood—not for any other person, but for you. Here, get a glimpse into the products, habits, and mantras that help powerhouse women slip into the sexiest version of themselves.

Despite never meeting Chelsea Handler until last week, she’s historically been one of those celebrities with whom I firmly believe I have an intimate, personal relationship. I’ve seen her ski topless (she’s going at it again—black bathing suit edition—tomorrow, in partnership with Gold Bond), talk about her sex life, and give many a pep talk on her podcast “Dear Chelsea.”

But give me a Zoom link and 20 minutes with Handler and you better believe I’m having her answer my most burning questions. Now, I’m happy to report that I know what she smells like (it’s not what you think), am filled in on her “addiction” to having soft skin (plus the $13 product that makes it happen), and perhaps a bit too much about her love affair with her tongue scraper (see, we got into it). The latter is key to her getting In the Mood, FYI.

Read ahead for the full breakdown on how Handler taps into her feminine power on a daily basis, then make sure to shop her go-to products below.

PQ

The first five minutes after I open my eyes, I look in the mirror and say, “Hello, beautiful. What kind of business are we going to get up to today?” I start off with a positive attitude. I've realized how important the gratitude aspect is. It’s magnetic, so what you put out is what you receive. Every morning is a chance to start again.

white text on a black background

I shower after my workout, but I try not to wash my hair too much. I’m not a long-time shower person; you’ll never hear me singing in there. I’m getting in there, hitting my hot spots, and getting out as quickly as possible. My self-care happens afterward. I moisturize everywhere as often as possible because I'm addicted to soft skin. If you touch my skin—many people have—you'll also understand how moisturized I am. I use Gold Bold Daily Lotion and put it all over my body.

white text on a black background

My tongue scraper. My dentist introduced this to me about three or four years ago. Basically, it removes any sediment in your mouth or on your tongue. I scrape my tongue every morning in the shower—trust me, you will never have bad breath again in your life. You will never have coffee breath. We’re all brushing our teeth but a tongue scraper is a key ingredient. It’s my number one pet peeve for anything that I’m interested in of the opposite sex. If you do not have clean, healthy hygiene in your mouth, we have nothing to talk about.

white text on a black background

I don’t use fragrance. My natural scent is good enough. I also find that sometimes fragrances overpower and irritate my skin or give me headache. I just smell like the creams I put on and the shampoo and conditioner I use. And, obviously, my deodorant.

white text on a black background

I don't use a lot of makeup when I'm alone because I've been in hair and makeup chairs a lot of my life. But if I am, I use Armani Luminous Silk Concealer for under my eyes, which can be dark, and around my nose where I have some redness. I have a couple of versions: shade three, four, four and a half. I get my eyelashes tinted and lifted every few weeks, so I can just curl them. I’m high maintenance to be low maintenance at the same time. It’s quite a combo.

white text on a black background

I usually just throw my hair up and put a hat on. We’re just going for it.

white text on a black background

I only wear [Essie] Mademoiselle, a nice translucent pink. I don’t put colors on my fingers and toes.

white text on a black background

I go to sleep wearing makeup a lot. People don’t like that answer, but I’m 50 years old and something is working. Last night I was so tired when I got home that I just put my eye shades on. When I took them off this morning, they had concealer all over them. My makeup artist can’t believe I do it, but, listen, it’s working. I’m not good about washing my face or having a nighttime routine. I’m a low-key woman in that regard.

white text on a black background

I feel more and more grounded each year. I feel more like myself and more solid—I'm looking forward to more of that. My confidence is real and tangible, and I feel the older I get, the better I am at injecting other people with the same confidence.

white text on a black background

It’s more of a photography tip. Don't look directly at the camera. You always turn to the side a little bit to angle yourself. It doesn't matter which side—you can pick your favorite. And when you smile, try to look like you're being asked a question—almost like you’re surprised.

<![CDATA[ The Best Romances in TV History ]]> Relationships on the best TV shows may be fictional, but they're easy to get invested in. The dynamic between two characters can grow and build tension over a series' run or various seasons, so there is a carefully timed payoff that flourishes into a romance. And with the best TV couples, we root for them the entire way through. Shows may feature tropes, from "enemies to lovers" and "friends to lovers" to even "coworkers to lovers," but with the right storylines and chemistry, fans inevitably start shipping the romance they tune into week after week or see unfold over a binge watch. Because they put us in our feels, we've rounded up the best romances in TV history.

'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

jemma and leo getting married outside on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

You may have missed this show when it first aired. Initially an offshoot of the Marvel universe, it developed its own identity as an adventure story. One of the most compelling parts was FitzSimmons (a.k.a. Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz), two scientists who started as BFFs and ended up married.

'Bridgerton'

the duke and daphne at a ball in bridgerton

Like many shows on this list, there are several great relationships to choose from on Bridgerton. But the granddaddy of them all is Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page). I will always be a fan of the "fake relationship turns into a real relationship when two people realize they have the hots for each other" storyline.

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'

sarah michelle gellar as buffy speaking to David Boreanaz as angel in buffy the vampire slayer

If you were a religious Buffy watcher, you had your favorite couple. There was Buffy-Spike and Willow-Tara. But it's difficult to top the angst and yearning that Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), vampire slayer, and Angel (David Boreanaz), vampire, had for each other. Their initial pairing (and the twist that comes afterward) is some of the best '90s TV.

'Dawson's Creek'

joshua jackson as pacey and katie holmes as katie dancing at a school dance on dawson's creek

Considering that Dawson is literally in the show's title, it shocked many Dawson's Creek fans that Joey (Katie Holmes) and Pacey (Joshua Jackson) were the couple to root for. When you go from BFFs to something more, it's a beautiful story.

'ER'

George Clooney and Julianna Margulies as doug and caroline an office at a hospital in er

ER was melodramatic, and it spawned a bunch of messy on-screen romances. Doug and Carol (George Clooney and Julianna Margulies) were probably the messiest and the most romantic of the bunch. Just about every ER fan wanted to see them together in the end—myself included.

'Friday Night Lights'

kyle chandler as coach taylor and connie britton as tami standing in a kitchen in the tv show Friday Night Lights

There's a ton of romantic angst in the hit '00s series Friday Night Lights. But through it all, we have the bedrock of Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler) and Tami (Connie Britton). They're good parents and a strong couple, but it's also clear they still have the hots for each other. Marriage goals forever!

'Friends'

monica wearing a white jean jacket and chandler wearing a suede jacket on friends

The obvious Friends choice here is Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston); the show hinges on their relationship drama, after all! However, I would argue that the low-key relationship between Monica (Courteney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry) that develops naturally and later on is the real romance of the show. It's their lack of drama that makes them perfect.

'Gilmore Girls'

luke and lorelai sitting on a stoop in gilmore girls

Gilmore Girls centered around Rory (Alexis Bledel) and her various loves. But the slow burn of Luke (Scott Patterson) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham) was deep and just as meaningful. They could not be more oppositional, but their (fast-paced) banter and subtle sexual tension led to a gratifying couple.

'Grey's Anatomy'

romance - greys anatomy

You could probably make an entire book of the various relationships in Grey's Anatomy. But it's tough to beat the original: Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey). A one-night stand turns into an awkward coworker situation, but it was lovely to watch the two slowly realizing they were meant to be together.

'How I Met Your Mother'

romance - How I Met Your Mother

Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) were the best relationship in How I Met Your Mother. There, I said it! "Lilypad" and "Marshmallow" were essentially the show's backbone. While their friends were busy with romantic shenanigans, they were quietly funny and sweet.

'I Love Lucy'

Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz as lucy and ricky on I Love Lucy

Even though Lucy and Ricky aren't the most romantic couple on this list, they're still one of the most iconic couples of all time. Based on the real-life relationship between Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, their "friendly bickering" belies a real affection for each other.

'The Jeffersons'

romance - 'The Jeffersons'

The show All in the Family was momentous because it was an early classic TV show that featured depictions of Black love. One of the strongest elements was the relationship between George (Sherman Hemsley) and Louise Jefferson (Isabel Sanford), who were so popular they got their own show, the iconic Black series The Jeffersons. They're opposites balancing each other out, which is a joy to watch.

'The L Word'

women sitting around a table at a coffee shop in a still from the L word

You could take your pick of relationships on the hit LGBTQ+ series The L Word. While many of them were ill-advised, there were some truly inspired couplings as well. I'm torn between Alice (Leisha Hailey) and Dana (Erin Daniels), who were friends to lovers, and Alice and Tasha (Rose Rollins), who were opposites to lovers.

'The Mindy Project'

danny and mindy in an elevator on The Mindy Project

If there's one couple on this list that defines "frenemies," it's this one. Mindy (Mindy Kaling) and Danny (Chris Messina) from The Mindy Project begin not liking each other...but it turns out that's just the start of their story. There are a lot of ups and downs, but every second they're together is great.

'Moonlighting'

bruce willis and Cybill Shepherd posing in a shot for Moonlighting

One of the most iconic "will they-won't they" couples on this list, Moonlighting is now famous for the show's "curse" (where the ratings dip after the on-screen couple gets together). But if you've never watched, the back and forth between David (Bruce Willis) and Maddie (Cybill Shepherd) is truly world-class—even after they consummate their romance.

'New Girl'

nick and jess in the elevator in 'New Girl'

When you watch the pilot of New Girl, you'd never expect sunny Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and grouchy Nick (Jake Johnson) to be soulmates. That's the show's brilliance: make the two of them roommates, and let them realize their feelings over time.

'Normal People'

daisy edgar jones and paul mescal as marianne and connell during school on Normal People

Unsurprisingly, Normal People put Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal on the map. Marianne and Connell start as classmates secretly sleeping together, evolving into much more. Their chemistry is some of the strongest on this list—which says something.

'The Office'

jim and pam standing over their desks on the office

This is probably the best example of a "best friends to lovers" TV arc. Pam (Jenna Fischer) is engaged to someone else when she meets Jim (John Krasinski), and the two become BFFs. But then both of them develop feelings for each other. Drama, then happiness, ensues.

'One Tree Hill'

James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Lenz as nathan and haley standing under a tree in one tree hill

This show featured many dramatic pairings. But at the center of it all was Haley and Nathan, also known as Naley, (played by James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Lenz). Their relationship was grounded and mature—still considered one of the strongest in teen TV history.

'Orange Is the New Black'

poussey and soso standing outside in the tv show orange is the new black

Orange Is the New Black had an important central relationship: Alex (Laura Prepon) and Piper (Taylor Schilling). But it was the side characters' relationships that we ultimately fell in love with, including "Pousoso" (Poussey and Soso, played by Kimiko Glenn and Samira Wiley), the odd couple who bonded over shared experiences.

'Outlander'

claire and jamie embracing in outlander

This adaptation of the bestselling romance book series had high stakes. Could the TV version faithfully depict the story of a 20th-century nurse time-traveling and falling in love with an 18th-century Highlander? The answer was a resounding yes. The love story between Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) transcends time and place.

'Parks and Recreation'

ben wyatt and leslie knope in Parks and Recreation

"I love you and I like you." Of all the relationships in Parks & Recreation, Ben (Adam Scott) and Leslie (Amy Poehler) will always be my favorite. They're enemies, they're coworkers, they're secretly hooking up, they're in a legitimate relationship, and as happy as ever. I love every stage!

'Pose'

angel and lil papi together at the club in Pose

If you haven't watched Pose, binge it, and prepare for one of the cutest romances ever. Angel (Indya Moore) and Lil Papi (Angel Bismark Curiel) are friends at frist and then—in one extremely romantic moment—realize that they're supposed to be together. And things go up from there.

'Scandal'

Couple in Scandal

Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) weren't the healthiest couples. They start as coworkers as she tries to help him win a presidential election, then have a torrid affair. But despite the emotional rollercoaster they go through, their attraction is undeniable.

'Schitt's Creek'

david and patrick smiling at a birthday party on schitt's creek

Schitt's Creek was always incredibly loving and accepting towards its characters. But it was never more loving than when it brought together David (Dan Levy) and Patrick (Noah Reid). The former is a chaotic pansexual with a good heart, and the latter is a quiet, newly-out gay man who brings a lot of stability.

'Shameless'

ian and mickey sitting on a stoop in shameless

There are a couple of cute relationships in Shameless. My favorite is Ian (Cameron Monaghan) and Mickey (Noel Fisher). (Fans called them "Gallavich," as a portmanteau of their last names.) Theirs is a real "enemies to lovers" arc, but—without spoiling anything—it goes to some very sweet places.

'This Is Us'

Sterling K. Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson as randall and beth in this is us

This Is Us gave us many couples to root for. If you're a superfan of the show, you probably have your faves; for my money, though, Randall and Beth (Sterling K. Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson) had the sweetest, most realistic pairing. And they were parent goals!

'The Vampire Diaries'

damon and elena smirking in a still from Vampire Diaries

If you're unfamiliar, The Vampire Diaries featured a love triangle for the ages: a woman torn between two vampire brothers. Fans still debate the "right" couple to this day, but Elena and Damon, aka Team "Delena," were a great combination of chemistry and connection. Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, who played them, also dated in real life!

'Veronica Mars'

logan and veronica smiling at each other in veronica mars

Veronica (Kristen Bell) and Logan (Jason William Dohring), known among fans as "LoVe," are the definition of opposites attract. Veronica's a budding investigator who loves to solve crimes, and Logan is her school's "obligatory psychotic jackass." But, plot twist: The two actually have incredible chemistry.

'The Walking Dead'

rick and michonne laughing on the ground in a still from The Walking Dead

Among the couples on The Walking Dead, Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) are the most obvious for this list. But I was actually a fan of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), best known as "Richonne." It is the definition of a slow burn, with the two slowly learning to trust each other. The build-off has an amazing payoff!

'The X-Files'

scully and mulder investigating in the woods in 'The X-Files'

Back in the day, many fans of The X Files wanted to see professional partners Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) get together. What I loved about the show was that it was constantly teasing us. Even when the two do start a romance, it's extremely subtle.

'You're the Worst'

gretchen and jimmy looking upset in 'You're the Worst'

As the title implies, Gretchen and Jimmy (Aya Cash and Chris Geere) aren't the best people or even the best partners to each other in You're the Worst. But you'll be impressed by their arc together; I won't spoil it if you haven't watched, but the two exhibit a lot of growth.

<![CDATA[ 13 Hailey Bieber Outfit Formulas Defining Her Laidback Personal Style ]]> With such an effortless style, it’s no wonder Hailey Bieber's outfits are a fan favorite. Her enviable looks, styled by Dani Michelle, have made their way onto many Pinterest mood boards and TikTok "For You" pages. Meanwhile, on Instagram, fan page accounts like @haileybiebercloset and @haileybstyle have gained several hundred thousand followers eager to emulate her It-girl aura. Simply put, Bieber never fails to teach a lesson in dressing—and you better believe we’re taking style notes.

Given the rising temperatures, we’ve already begun referencing Bieber’s archive of breezy, laidback outfits to inspire our warm-weather uniforms. The star’s spring capsule wardrobe is peppered with viral trends like collegiate rugby shirts that pair well with a slew of preppy outfits and rugged barn jackets that embrace English country style. She also owns a variety of classic staples, like tailored trench coats, thigh-grazing Bermuda shorts, and airy slip dresses.

The beauty of Hailey Bieber’s sense of fashion is that it's rooted in simplicity, meaning her outfit formulas are ripe for copying. Ahead, you’ll discover a list of her best looks perfect for the upcoming season. Whether you’re getting dressed for a casual coffee run or a night in the town, effortless style starts here.

A Winning Combo

Ask Bieber about her favorite rugby shirt, and she’ll likely wax poetic about this blue-and-red version from Loewe’s Resort 2023 collection. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Bieber championed rugby shirts way before they became a game-changing spring 2025 trend. Follow suit and team this top alongside a leather jacket, a pair of straight-leg jeans, and glossy heels. Enhance this look even further with an embellished designer handbag and ’80s-inspired jewelry.

Off to the Barn

Hailey Bieber wearing a barn jacket, shorts, and shoes

Even though barn jackets aren’t typically worn with shorts, Bieber makes a case for the unconventional look. (Image credit: Getty Images)

While barn jackets had their moment in the fall, Bieber demonstrates that this hard-working layer can easily be styled for spring. Her solution? Ditching pants for skin-tight biker shorts that offer a barely-there feel.

A Trusty Trench

On balmy spring days, Bieber rarely leaves the house without pulling a trench over her shoulders. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Take a peek at Hailey Bieber’s collection of spring jackets, and you’ll find plenty of trench coats in oversized silhouettes. If you ask her how to wear this billowing layer, she’ll tell you to balance it out with an itsy-bitsy crop top and a pair of denim Bermuda shorts.

Pretty in Pink

For an evening outfit that’s elegant and easy, take a look at this slinky number. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Bieber has many styling tricks up her sleeve, one of which includes lingerie dressing. The A-lister has worn bras with mini skirts and bloomers with peacoats, but perhaps her best look yet is this pastel pink satin slip dress. Wear a similar style with pointy slingbacks and shimmering gold hoops, and you’ve got yourself a foolproof going-out outfit.

Pilates Princess

If you’re ever in need of athleisure outfit inspiration, allow Bieber’s Pilates uniforms to lead the way. Her secret to the perfect laid-back outfit involves dressing up a sporty base with elevated pieces (like a leather jacket and a $3,200 Saint Laurent bag). A look like this will function well beyond any workout studio.

Plain and Simple

Of course Hailey Bieber can make a neutral outfit seem not-so-basic—what can’t she do? (Image credit: Getty Images)

For a no-fuss formula, try this breezy black-and-white look. Bieber’s streamlined outfit idea is so good, you'll want to wear it on repeat. Plus, it features a trendy touch with sandals that showcase fashion’s nautical-inspired fisherman aesthetic.

A Splash of Red

A little bit of red can make a major difference. (Image credit: Alamy)

Cherry red has ranked high on the list of color trends for quite some time now, and Bieber knows exactly how to wear this decadent hue. Instead of dousing yourself in the shade, take a less intimidating approach by way of accessories.

On the Move

No one masters the blokette trend quite like Bieber. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Whether you’re running errands or meeting up with friends for coffee, consider stealing this relaxed outfit from Bieber’s fashion file. Anchored in sportswear, this look gives a practical edge without sacrificing style. All you'll need is a windbreaker, a tennis skirt, and a pair of trendy sneakers.

Biker Chic

While we’re not sure if Bieber owns a motorcycle, we know she certainly knows how to dress like a biker. However, her take feels undeniably sophisticated with sleek moto boots, a cropped trench coat, and abbreviated biker shorts.

She Means Business

Bieber is no stranger to an office siren look—she loves to put a sultry spin on workwear staples. Take, for example, her vintage Thierry Mugler pinstripe skirt suit (pictured above), which flaunts a plunging neckline and a sculpted bodice. If you want to amp up the corporate volume, adopt her approach and slip into sheer tights and power pumps.

Off-Duty

When she’s not busy being a mogul, the Rhode founder likes to keep things casual in sweatshirts, shorts, and sneakers. If you’re not in the mood to build a complicated uniform, try Hailey Bieber's stress-free outfit that feels surprisingly put-together.

A Sweet Pairing

Wondering how to test-drive the mocha mousse color trend this season? We’d suggest copying this transitional look that masterfully embraces the delectable hue with must-have spring essentials like a blazer and a mini skirt.

Simplicity Reigns Supreme

To know Bieber is to understand that the stylish celebrity is a staunch advocate for minimalism. (Image credit: Getty Images)

It’s no secret that Bieber lives by the style memo “less is more,” and this streamlined outfit is proof. While this look is inherently pared-down, it’s far from boring, thanks to accessories like retro sunglasses, a hardware-adorned designer belt, a tote bag, and a pair of square-toed loafers.

<![CDATA[ Dakota Johnson's Black 'Verity' Manicure Pays Beauty Homage to Kaia Gerber and Kylie Jenner ]]> Dakota Johnson has been vaping all over New York City, but not for the reason you might think. It seems the actor has officially begun filming for the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover's 2018 psychological thriller novel Verity. Set to star opposite Anne Hathaway in the film, Johnson will portray the story's shrewd protagonist Lowen Ashleigh: a struggling writer who stumbles across a disturbing mystery when she's assigned to complete a book for a best-selling author.

Now, we're finally getting a first look at Johnson's styling for the project. On Mar. 12, the Madame Web star was spotted shooting one of the book's earliest scenes in New York City. Her taupe coat, burnt orange pants, and gold chain jewelry channeled an autumnal vibe. But in order to catch the most telling detail, you'll have to zoom in on the 35-year-old's short black manicure.

For celebrities like Selena Gomez, Kendall Jenner, and Dua Lipa, 2024 was the year of bubble bath nails and naked manicures—shorter styles that mimic mannequinlike perfection. But in recent months, the pendulum seems to be swinging back toward nostalgic nail trends, such as French tips and glossy shades of black.

Recently, Kylie Jenner accessorized her vintage Celine shirt with long black nails for a tennis match date with Timothée Chalamet. And for several weeks running, Kaia Gerber has been rocking a chipped black manicure in an unexpected break from her biweekly baby pink gel appointment. Seeing Dakota Johnson embrace the look on set feels like even more confirmation that black manicures are so back.

A photo of Johnson sporting short black nails while filming the bloody opening scene of Verity in New York City.

Black nails also make perfect sense for Johnson's character in the flick. At the beginning of the book, Lowen is an awkward and seemingly naive introvert drifting through life. By the end, she emerges with a cunning sense of self-preservation she never had before. In a way, her black manicure foreshadows this duality to her personality as well as her transformation from meek ghostwriter to main character.

Of course, you don't need to be embroiled in a dangerous literary mystery to take this chic minimalist manicure trend for a spin. Any saturated black creme lacquer will do the trick. Just be sure to do thorough nail prep and a base coat beforehand to avoid streaking and staining.

<![CDATA[ Americans Have a Surprising Favorite Member of the Royal Family, Per Latest Poll—and It Isn't Princess Kate ]]> The American fascination with British royalty hasn't changed very much since the days of Diana and Charles, as a recent YouGov survey has revealed. Although Prince William and Princess Kate seem like they should be a shoo-in for the top spot in a "most popular royals" poll, Americans are still carrying a royal torch for the People's Princess nearly three decades after her tragic death.

Princess Diana still reigns supreme—at least according to a survey asking Americans for their views of British Royal Family members both living and dead. The late princess dominated the poll with an impressive 76 percent of respondents finding her "very or somewhat favorable."

Unsurprisingly, Queen Elizabeth II secured a solid second place with a 67 percent favorability rating, while Prince William (58 percent) rounded out the top three. But although you might expect the Princess of Wales to rank similarly to her husband, Prince Harry (53 percent) narrowly beat his sister-in-law Kate—despite his controversial 2020 departure from royal duties.

The Princess of Wales's fifth-place, 52 percent favorability position comes as a surprise considering her typically stellar polling numbers in the U.K.; she was voted the number-one most popular member of the Royal Family in a February 2025 YouGov poll in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, American-born Meghan Markle landed in seventh place with a 46 percent favorability rating, trailing behind Princess Anne's 47 percent. Interestingly, the hard-working Princess Royal received a hugely different ranking in the U.K., coming in third place with a whopping 70 percent of Brits viewing her in a favorable manor.

Just 42 percent of Americans viewed King Charles favorably in the poll—significantly behind his late first wife and mother. Queen Camilla, however, was ranked the second-to-last most popular royal with a favorability rating of just 30 percent—which given Diana's popularity is hardly surprising.

As for the royal with the lowest rating? Unsurprisingly, that honor belongs to Prince Andrew, whose friendship with Jeffrey Epstein continues to cast a shadow over his public perception.

<![CDATA[ The Vintage Shoe Trend Bella Hadid Just Wore Makes Even Bootcut Jeans Look Elegant ]]> A brisk walk out of her Paris hotel on March 12 was all Bella Hadid needed to prove bootcut jeans aren't just for her Texas ranch. The morning after storming Saint Laurent's Paris Fashion Week runway in a lace naked dress and pointed-toe heels, Hadid woke up ready to upend everyone's denim styling expectations with help from a resurgent vintage shoe trend.

The model tapped Vivaia's satin Derby flats—defined by an elegant curved toebox and coquette ribbons for laces—to dress up her pair of down-to-earth blue jeans. Most people (Bella, deep in her cowgirl era, included) would pair bootcut denim with structured ankle boots or a rodeo-inspired style. Clearly, she saw the potential for high-contrast, high-reward styling instead.

Her shoes gracefully peeked out beneath the puddling hem of her jeans, coordinating with a black wool coat, black turtleneck, and teeny-tiny sunglasses. Saint Laurent's Sac de Jour tote, the definitive favorite designer bag in Hadid's never-ending closet, put a rich-girl final touch on the outfit.

Situated at the corner of ballet slippers favored by Sandy Liang and Repetto and the 19th-century Derby styles returning to runways like Miu Miu's just this week, Bella Hadid's $129 pair is an unexpectedly accessible entry to her style file. Most days, she spends her Ôrebella fragrance checks on $1,250 Saint Laurent boots or The Row's $1,190 heeled loafers. If she's going to branch out into an affordable shoe, it would be in a reworked version of the Derby: they're predicted to be one of the biggest footwear trends of the coming year.

The sweetly antique aesthetic of Vivaia's, however, is right in step with Hadid's usual wardrobe. She's sourced everything from rare Jean Paul Gaultier tees to Tom Ford-era Gucci—just for similar strolls from hotels to a black car and back.

Oftentimes, corralling denim into the past-meets-present mix would find Hadid reaching for a rising sneaker or a cowgirl boot. If the model can make even a feminine satin flat work with these blue jeans, anything can. Let's see her try bootcut denim with the boat shoe trend next.

<![CDATA[ Jenna Ortega’s New Burgundy Hair Has Me Ready for Season 2 of 'Wednesday' ]]> Jenna Ortega has returned to her goth-glam era, this time with a twist. On Mar. 11, the actor attended a screening for her new movie Death of a Unicorn in New York City, wearing a stunning black asymmetrical cutout dress. Ortega finished the look with pointed-toe heels and minimal jewelry. Still, her new burgundy hair and moody nails were an ode to her Wednesday Addams character, and felt like a signal for all the looks we’ll be seeing when she starts to promote season two of the hit Netflix series later this year.

Ortega’s hair was pin straight with soft curtain bangs, allowing her new hair color to be a focal point of the look. She opted for a similar color on her nails—a deep red manicure that almost looked black— and a more sheer version on her lips for a chic “my lips but better” moment. The stunning smoky double cat eye tied the whole look together.

Goth glam has slowly been inching its way back into the zeitgeist via ‘90s beauty trends like supermodel lip, spiky buns, and indie sleaze eye makeup. Ortega has been particularly well-poised to welcome this trend, as she spent the better part of 2022 method dressing—creating grunge glam hair, makeup, and nail looks, that would make her character from Wednesday proud.

Though she’s been sporting her new hair color for a few weeks now, Ortega’s new look is the epitome of a subtle beauty refresh, which feels particularly timely for the upcoming spring and summer months. Personally, I’m ready for a little zhuzh, so keep reading to see how I plan to channel Ortega’s “new season, new me energy” for my own spring and summer beauty reset.

<![CDATA[ Prince William Has a Surprising Claim to Fame After Claiming He's "Broken the Record" for This Activity ]]> In a moment that would make any Guinness World Records official raise an eyebrow, Prince William has apparently added "high-five champion" to his royal résumé. On Tuesday, March 11, the Prince of Wales found himself mobbed by enthusiastic schoolchildren who apparently missed the memo about maintaining dignified royal protocol—not that dad of three William minded one bit.

The Prince of Wales joked that he'd "broken the record for the most amount of high fives in 10 minutes," and his hand must have been tingling after the impromptu palm-slapping marathon with pupils from Fibbersley Park Academy in Willenhall, England.

The royal visit centered around a referee training course at Sporting Khalsa FC in Willenhall—part of the Football Association's Reflective and Representative campaign running since July 2023. The initiative aims to recruit 1,000 people from diverse backgrounds into refereeing roles.

Between posing for selfies and receiving hugs, Prince William seemed particularly charmed by the homemade posters. One young football critic had clearly done their royal homework with a sign reading "Aston Villa is the best"—instantly winning a thumbs-up approval from the notorious Villa supporter.

Another budding sports analyst cut straight to the question of William's officiating abilities with a sign that read, "Hello Prince William, I hope you are a good ref, good luck."

The Prince of Wales went on to grab a whistle and take part in refereeing training, and also spoke to people whose careers have been impacted by the course. "We spoke about women in football, which I think is definitely growing," professional referee Levi Gray told the Mirror, adding she also chatted to William "about diversity events like this and how important it is that you can see it and believe it."

It's been a busy week for the Prince of Wales, who attended Monday's Commonwealth Day ceremony with Princess Kate, who made her return to the event after missing it in 2024. It was also announced that William will be heading for his first overseas visit of the year on March 20 and 21, when the prince will travel to Estonia. While the Princess of Wales won't be joining her husband for the trip, she's also got a new event on her calendar and will be attending the Irish Guards' St. Patrick's Day parade on March 17.

No word yet on whether the FA will actually certify the prince as an official referee, but if his high-five skills are any indication of his athletic abilities, Premier League matches could get considerably more interesting.

<![CDATA[ Your Guide to Netflix's 'Temptation Island' Cast, From the Couples to the Tempters ]]> Netflix's reality TV universe is growing, with its revival of the international franchise Temptation Island. Classic TV fans may remember that Temptation Island began in the U.S. in 2001, with previous seasons airing on Fox and USA Network. (Not to mention the numerous iterations airing abroad.) For the ninth season, which premiered on Netflix on March 12, 2025, longtime host Mark L. Walberg (no, not that one) returns to lead four unmarried couples through the ultimate test of temptation.

Over several weeks, each of these couples on the brink of separation split up into villas, populated by a dozen ultra-hot members of the opposite sex. During their time temporarily apart, each couple has to decide whether they'll come back together stronger than ever, or break up for good. The only knowledge they'll get of each other's activities will come from emotional bonfires, where the cast members see clips of what their significant others have been up to with the singles.

Netflix fans will find this series' drama (and low-key psychological torture) similar to that of The Ultimatum, though the welcome addition of Walberg offers a sympathetic ear and advice. Is Temptation Island the streaming giant's next reality TV guilty pleasure? Will any of these couples reach "Montoya, por favor" levels of social media infamy? Below, read on to meet the vulnerable couples and sexy tempters populating Netflix's Temptation Island cast.

The Couples

Accountant Ashley, 28, and business owner and dad Grant, 28, have been on-again-off-again for a year and a half before coming on Temptation Island. After Grant cheated a month into their relationship, Ashley built up major trust issues that she's trying to overcome. As the series starts, Grant is determined to prove that he can now resist temptation, but his biggest fear is that Ashley will "speak of him poorly while on the island."

Alexa and Lino

Labor and delivery travel nurse Alexa, 28, and personal trainer Lino, 28, have been inseparable since their mutual gym crush turned into a relationship over three years ago. Though Alexa's ready to get engaged, Lino has reservations, including how Alexa is his first-ever serious relationship and he has uprooted his life several times for her. After a "rocky" start to their relationship, where Alexa dated other people when Lino thought they were exclusive, he also has to believe he isn't "second choice."

Shanté and Brion

Pilates instructor Shanté, 29, and medical salesman Brion, 26, had instant chemistry when they met at church a year ago. However self-described "flirt" Brion briefly dumped Shanté for another woman, before "realizing the grass isn't greener on the other side." Shanté wants to see if the sexually adventurous Brion will take their relationship seriously in the face of temptation.

Personal trainer Tayler, 30, and model Tyler, 27, began dating four months after Tyler separated from his now ex-wife. Over two years later, Tayler is looking for economic and emotional security from her boyfriend, who has "fallen into temptation" in the past. Meanwhile, Tyler plans to "work on understanding [himself] better," having been in committed relationships back-to-back since he was 18.
