House of 1000 Corpses (2003) – The Best Scene

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of writer/director Rob Zombie’s feature debut House of 1000 Corpses (watch it HERE), and today we’re celebrating the film’s anniversary with a video that digs into The Best Scene in the movie! You can check it out in the embed above.

The scene we’ve chosen to feature in this video is the opening sequence that involves Captain Spaulding, brought to life through an iconic performance from Sid Haig, dealing with a pair of dimwitted armed robbers who have come busting into his gas station / murder museum.

House of 1000 Corpses has the following synopsis: Two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of a local legend known as Dr. Satan. Lost and stranded, they are set upon by a bizarre family of psychotics. Murder, cannibalism and satanic rituals are just a few of the 1000+ horrors that await.

Haig is joined in the cast by Erin Daniels, Bill Moseley, Karen Black, Sheri Moon Zombie, Rainn Wilson, Dennis Fimple, Walton Goggins, Chris Hardwick, Jennifer Jostyn, Matthew McGrory, Robert Mukes, Walter Phelan, Michael J. Pollard, Tom Towles, Harrison Young, Irwin Keyes, and Jake McKinnon.

The 20th anniversary of House of 1000 Corpses was also recently celebrated by Fathom Events, who brought the movie back to theatres for two nights earlier this month, by Lionsgate, who gave the film a new Blu-ray release, and by Trick or Treat Studios, who started selling a House of 1000 Corpses coloring book.

Zombie followed House of 1000 Corpses with two sequels, The Devil’s Rejects and 3 from Hell. He recently said he won’t be making any more movies in this series (nor will he be making a sequel to his most recent movie, the sitcom revival The Munsters).
