The Boulet Brothers' Dragula: Search for the World's First Drag Supermonster: Killer Dolls (2024)
Not a Second of Wasted Time
This episode was fantastic! From the second that the show started to the rolling of the credits, the episode was extremely entertaining. It was jam-packed with fun drama and before you got the chance to catch your breath you were already moving onto the next scene. Then you move onto the incredible floorshow. The caliber of drag is so high this season which makes for a jaw-dropping sequence. I loved the music that they chose for the runway and performance too. More drama ensues in the cauldron, but it's actually enjoyable to listen too and not too heavy. The extermination is very intense and I still can't believe what they had to do. Altogether, this is one of my favorite episodes of the entire franchise.
Drag Race France: Grand Finale (2024)
Tripped Right At The End
They had the perfect winner with an amazing storyline in Ruby on the Nail. It was the underdog who crawled her way up and proved how amazing she is. Then you have her against Le Filip, who technically didn't win a challenge this whole season because she lost the top 2 lipsync for the win. When her and Ruby were called as the top 2 of the season, I for sure saw Ruby taking the whole thing. This thought was cemented even further after the final lip sync, since I preferred Ruby's interpretation more. Having Le Filip win came out of nowhere and still makes no sense to me. I'm not mad, since I enjoyed Le Filip's presence this entire season, but I'm mainly baffled as to why queens like Ruby and Lula were spotlighted if they weren't going to win in the end.
The final episode in itself is great. The performances were fun, it was a great mix of emotions, and it moved by pretty quickly for being an hour and a half too. It's simply that last decision that drops it down for me. If Ruby or Lula had won, this would've been a 10/10 episode in my eyes. The only thing I can think is that they didn't realize just how popular Le Filip would be with the fans, so they corrected course last minute which resulted in unfulfilling storylines. This episode, and season, had the potential to be very good, but the strange decisions along the way make it fade into the background with all the other average Drag Race seasons.
Paranormal Activity 4 (2012)
The worst editing I have ever seen, and that's including school projects
The only reason this movie is scary is because of how terrible the production is. I understand that they're going for the "home movie" vibe, but that doesn't excuse the lack of editing skills. There are pitch black fade-outs that go for over 5 seconds and the movie is ripe with jump cuts. Most of the time the characters don't even get to finish what they're saying before they cut away form them. What little plot there is is lost beneath a slew of awful editing, bad camera work, and horrendous audio. Again, I get the made at home vibe, but that doesn't mean you can't install a proper microphone and lower some of the audio feedback. The only thing I've edited is a school project in eight days, but it seems that I know a lot more about it than Gregory Plotkin. Was this made in Movie Maker? It doesn't look like anything more than that at all. Every other aspect is mediocre at best and downright awful at worst. The acting is so-so, the plot line is overused and tired, the "camera work" is non-existent, and you all know my thoughts about the editing. Unless you want to watch a terribly boring movie with little to no production value, I would advise you just skip this one.
Lazer Team (2015)
An Enjoyable Movie if You're Not Expecting Oscar Worthy Material
For their first movie, it's actually very good. The cinematography is better than expected, and the writing is actually funny and clever even though it's a tired idea. Not the most original of all topics, but its still quite fun to watch. So the big downfall is the acting. The acting isn't anything to call home for, but it's much better than most B or C level films. They probably would've done better if they went outside of the company, but I understand the loyalty. If you're a fan of Roosterteeth it would probably be better since you'll see all of the people you already know. I was neither disappointed nor blown away. It was exactly what I was expecting. If you go into the movie just having fun and not criticizing it too deeply, it'll be a worthwhile movie. Overall, it was entertaining but not the best film I've ever seen.I would recommend it to someone who wants to watch a funny, lighthearted movie, but definitely not to a critic or someone expecting a masterpiece.
