Imaginur (2022)
good first half, weak conclusion
I really enjoyed the first three quarter of the movie... keeps me guessing what is going on, never a boring moment..beautiful cinematography, the acting by each actor is good, the script is also meaningful.. even the houses deco and the props they use in the movie also has esthetic values.. it reminds me of my sister, one of of those cool uni students in the 70's..when our education system was much better back then, hence creating cool smart people that give this vibe like no other
but the later part of the movie and the conclusion is a big let down for me.. Im ok with time loop plot and have seen many good time loop movies but in this movie the execution of the repetitive events was somehow not done well .. it makes the movie loses its pace and bores and annoys me..
the plot twist at the end also did not surprise me I kinda guessed it already.. and I was expecting a more clever and satisfying ending but this one is just ordinary..
But I still have no regrets watching this movie and for sure I will check all of Nik Amir's films after this.
La ira de Dios (2022)
Disappointing
This has a good pace, simple plot but looks promising in the early part of the movie .. but as the story progresses it loses its potential and fall short
Just that letter about the law suit have made Kloster's wife kill their daughter and then herself on the spot like that. I found it unbelievable because it is not shown she is as mentally disturbed as that..she's just shown popping pills in between her screen time.. and yes its true their psychiatrist says she is so fragile like a broken crystal so then how could he let her be alone with their daughter?
And for Luciana the least she could do is to make a police report not get help from a writer.. at least the police could do a better and more thorough investigations.... or at least the movie could have shown she tried to get help from the authorities not from a writer who could do nothing
The movie also portrays Kloster as so invinsible and could manage to get away with everything..
Luciana herself is a very weak character.. I would rather see her kill Kolster than took that decision in the end.. that would at least be a better and more ending IMO.
Speak No Evil (2022)
Depressingly silly
Good storyline, good story pace, but could have been way better if the characters arent so weak, and so foolish making illogical decisions just to keep the story going..
who in the right mind would still stay after seeing so many red flags?
Why didnt the danish couple fight at all? Why they just follow everything the dutch couple says when the weapons the dutch couple has are only rocks?
In my opinion, this movie could be way better if the danish family survived or at least this is a revenge movie, where the dutch couple get what they deserve at the end..or at least make the father arent so annoyingly weak.. or at least make them fight all their might so this movie could be more reasonable.
Spiderhead (2022)
Don't
It's an ok plot and looks promising in the first 5 minutes of the movie.. as it keeps going it goes down the hill.. it could have been better but the storyline fails miserably
Hemsworth acting is bad in here.. his character as Steve Abnesti is also annoying.. the facility is a state of the art and must have cost a fortune, but why is the place is so understaff it is so illogical
the way Steve test the drugs on the test subjects is so casual, with no safety precautions at all- breakable furnitures around, no staff to monitor the process, the mobipak that contains the drugs is so easily damaged..
and Mark, Steve's assistant who controls the drug administration, is the only one who has to help Heather when things go out of control?
And the access to the room is so far it took Mark a while to reach Heather.. It is so silly like the writers couldn't think of a smarter way to create a tragedy in the movie.. which also didn't give any impact to the movie..
The motive to create the target drug is not so strong and feels meaningless and the twist at the end doesn't even feel like a twist..it too didnt add any impact to the movie..
in all this movie is just a waste of time.
The Weekend Away (2022)
Ordinary and nothing special
Just a light movie about 2 bestfriends having a weekend away together.. and 1 of them suddenly found missing.. So the other one tries to investigate what happens.. there are some other characters thrown in between to be suspected as the criminals..
In all this is quite a watchable movie .. not so good but watchable.. But there is one ridiculous important fact ruins this movie for me..that is how could the police so easily conclude that Pavic is the killer? Without even looking into other evidence or at least check the cctv footage closely? Because obviously its not him in the footage..
So they made it that way just for the twist at the end could happen.
Death on the Nile (2022)
Ok but not too good
I love murder mystery movies and the harder to predict the storyline and find the clues, the better.
In this movie its quite predictable and the clues are not so clever..its a bit frustrating to see Poirot's character is not as great as shown in the Murder In the Orient Express movie..
he just easily concludes Pennington will not use his own pistol to kill Linnet, while there are possibilities that Pennington can own his own gun, and at the same time he still could use the 22 caliber as to avoid being suspected
Its also quite funny that the killer could plan the murder well, with detailed strategies for years.. but the killer could not even bring his/her own red paint.. but the killer had to steal the red paint from Bouc's mother..
and at the end, the red paint that turned pink on the handkerchief does prove Poirot's theory, but it still could not prove who the killer is. So its quite odd the way the killer easily give up and admit the crime just by seeing the weak evidence. In all, this movie is watchable but not as good as I expected.
Scream (2022)
Better than scream 4 but still has lots of silly cliches
I like the opening scene it really gives the vibe of the first scream movie
but then as the movie goes on, there are more and more silly scenes such as
1. That scene at the hospital, where are the nurses and all other patients go? Why they have to always make it like deserted hospitals in every ghost or killer movies involving hospitals?
2. Why Dewey just leave the shot killer without trying to open the mask and check who the killer is?
3. and why he had to go back alone to shoot the killer's head, then delay the action and got distracted by his phone? Can the scene not be so annoyingly cliched?
4. In the last scene at Stu's house, its obviously no 911 call were made because the police did not show up even after that long.. how could sidney and gale be so sure to fight the killer without calling the cops especially after gale got shot before entering the house
4. How could everyone be so strong and can survive the stab wound that long..Sam even got the knife twisted in her guts..
5. When the killer talks through the voice changer tool in front of Sam, there should be 2 voices including the killer's original voice, not just that fake voice only
if they really going to make scream 6, hopefully they create a better storyline without the overused cliches. I really miss hollywood in its glorious days where they make great movies that create phenomena.. Now they just do it for the money.
El páramo (2021)
Missing it chance to be good
Who makes a toilet that is too far away from the house? The idea is there, about a monster that feeds on fear.. but so many questions in the movie are unanswered.. the movie tries to build fear for the audience but with too little details it becomes meaningless.
Mideunaiteu (2021)
Could have been better
Good start.. than as it goes on the movie becomes annoyingly silly with too many stupid decisions by the characters..thank god the trick at the end saves this movie.
Halloween Kills (2021)
Bad
Halloween series fans will still watch it no matter what, including me..but this one is so bad.. even the earlier scene is annoying with the weak police that accidentally shot his partner...... silly unnecessary scenes at the hospital....and so many more silly scenes just for gore.. and everything still feels like the 70's..no way an extremely dangerous crazy serial killer can let loose like that with no real help from the authorities.. he even can return to his home safely after all the kills.. just silly.. It does not work anymore..hopefully the end (Halloween Ends) will be much better, if it really ends.
Maid (2021)
Waste of time
Started out ok and then it goes down the hill.. The main character is unlikeable and she does so many foolish acts..the acting is also too much especially her mother and herself.. Her show of emotions seems like limited to nodding and head movements with widened eye.. It gets old really fast and a bit annoying.. But that does not really bother me if the plot is good.. But the truth is there is nothing special at all about this series.
The Guilty (2021)
Unlikable character
Is this movie suppose to show Jake Gylenhall's acting ability? If it is to be as annoying and unlikable as possible, then yes he did a really great job.. .. the movie too has ordinary story.. nothing gripping or entertaining about it..just watch the original version.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Dissapointing ending
The plot is exciting.. keeps the viewers on the edge of their seat.. but the ending is so rushed and not so great.. the final game chosen, the squid game is not so exciting especially for only 2 players .. then to make it worse it turned into a boring cliched knife fighting scene.. they should have chosen a more exciting game for a great climax..
in the earlier part it's kinda weird that sang woo showed his caring side to Gi Hun in the first game but then suddenly in the second game he showed his selfishness just after he agreed to team up with him.. I get it sang woo is being competitive to win the money but it does not seem he looks at Gi hun as a threat and there are still many other opponents at that time..so why showed Sang woo's good side just to expose his selfishness so soon?
And in the end I get it when sang woo suddenly has his conscience and finally let Gi Hun wins, because he knows Gi Hun is a nice guy that will make sure his mother will get something
but it is kinda boring that Gi Hun is being too nice and too kindhearted and wants to end everything at the edge of winning just to let that selfish sang woo lives...not after what sang woo did to everyone.. It will be more satisfying if Gi Hun just wins the game fair and square and just let sang woo be killed by that masked staff
and at the end it is so irrational to use the sad emotional music while the mastermind is explaining why he did all that.. so are we suppose to feel sorry for him and forget how evil he truly is?
And how does Gi Hun save himself from all the loan sharks for one whole year? He didnt use his money so there is no way he settled his debt with them..
And I dont like it that Gi Hun left his plane in the end I mean for what? Yes he has won the game once but there is no way he can get his revenge he is no match for them..dont tell me after he is being depressed for one whole year than suddenly he will be heroic and all smart in the second season? (If there is any) Unless Jun Ho, the policeman is actually not dead maybe they can team up with Gi Hun's money and all the information that Jun Ho got, they might get somewhere
and if it is really the end of Jun Ho, it is so bad to write him off just like that, not after he took so many risks to gather all the proves but to no use..
The acting of most characters, the cinematography and the idea are nice, only I just wish it has a better ending.
Under Suspicion (2000)
Engaging but with big flaws
For those who is still confused with the ending.. The real killer was caught in the act so no doubt Hackman is innocent.. His wife felt guilty to have doubts about Hackman and for letting the police search their house and take the pictures..After knowing that Hackman is not guilty she tried to reconcile with him but it seems whatever trust he has left for her is gone.. Freeman also felt guilty too to almost punish an innocent man
But why does Hackman confessed in the end? Is it because he is so frustrated with his wife go against him or the stress of being interrogated all night?
And so many silly illogical coincidences in this movie.. Hackman knows both girls and happens to be at the same place where the first girl die.. And he found the second girl's dead body... The real killer get caught just when Hackman make the confession.. And why he did not confess that he knows the girls? He is a lawyer he should know that the detectives will search his house and find those pictures..
The Life of David Gale (2003)
Plotholes
What's Gale's motive to ask for Bloom's help? The case is widely known he does not need her to cover his story but it is just to fool the viewers so the viewers will not see the twist in the end.... And how come she can come out with the answers just within a few days... And the first thing she notice is the feet moving.. She told its unnatural and that means Constance is doing it to herself? Constance is suffocating for real how can she be so calm unlike Bloom when she tested it..
Sul più bello (2020)
Weird movie
The main character is so unlikeable.. She made a mistake while announcing the discount at the store she is working.. and without being responsible she just leave like that to get ready for the date? Having a fatal disease does not give her the excuse to be so selfish and self centered like that.. She also controls everything including her friends.. And surprisingly her friends just follow whatever she says like their world revolves around her..
And the romance between her and the guy is so not believable.. There is no true connection between them.. And just after a few dates he is already in love with her? Too illogical to be enjoyed even for a fiction.
Retreat (2011)
Disappointing
I'm excited to see Cillian Murphy as one of the cast but boy his character is so weak, unwise and annoying in this one.. Thandie Newton as the wife is also a very unlikeable character.. The silly decisions made by the characters just to keep the plot going is so irritating.. What a waste of good casts and what could've been a good movie.
Love and Monsters (2020)
Nothing special
This movie has nice cinematography but with ordinary clichéd plot.. The start is ok then the storyline got predictably boring even the monsters are boring..
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Not a smart plot
It's a simple plot about a stone that can grant your wish.. Then one guy, Max took it too far and asks for too much.. The wishes become more and more silly.. First he asked to be the stone itself then he asked for oil in his acres of land.. then he went all the way to Egypt to see the ruler there just to get more oil.. Then suddenly he wants to be more powerful than the president and then he wants to absorb health and energy from everyone...
Lots of silly things in between like WW suddenly can make a plane become invisible.. She only succeed to do so with a mug before.. And just for a short time..and why max didn't ask for a better health earlier.. And why Barbara turned into a silly not so great cheetah like creature when she wishes to be number 1 and powerful?
So in the end Max did not need to physically touch everyone but the signal broadcast is enough for the wishes to work? How he is so sure about that when the writings on the stone stated you have to touch it to make your wishes come true.. In all the movie becomes too messy and dragged towards the end..Gal Gadot is great in this movie but it is not enough to save the silly messy plot
Earthquake Bird (2019)
Engaging
Kept my solid attention from start to finish.. everyone played their character well, especially Alicia Vikander.. we could really feel her intoxicating attraction towards Teiji and her jealousy towards Lily.. if only the story gives more details about Teiji and his motives it would be a more satisfying ending..an enjoyable watch and lingered in my mind for days.
Bando (2020)
More to humans vs humans than zombies vs humans
Just saying.. There is no train in this movie at all just a lot of cars..its not a sequel to the first movie just using the same pandemic that's started in Korea...
This movie has a very different vibe from the first movie... it is not really a survival zombie movie like the first one..no really thrilling zombie scenes compared to the first one.. more to war between humans with car racing and guns..
There are some questionable facts in this movie such as a mother who let her kids riding cars like that ..and a really young girl who can drive like that is too good to be true.. a group of people survived that long but did not in anyway try to contact the outside world? But instead capture people and have fun watching them being killed by zombies..Did not really feel anything when some of the characters died.. There are some forced drama like the death of his brother in law which I don't really care.. Because not much bond can be felt between them.. There is also added drama towards the end that suppose to make me feel something but instead felt clichéd..
Angmareul boatda (2010)
Overrated unclever movie
As other revenge movie it started off with a tragedy related to the main character,Soo Hyun.. The first 20 minutes is good but then Soo Hyun start to do something questionable.. I thought it would be something clever because I expect that from Korean movies.. But turns out Soo Hyun just release the killer and then track him down.. Punish him in the verge of doing another crime..this make Soo Hyun seem foolish, selfish and irrational because what he did jeopardise other's safety..its a gore movie with silly decisions by the main character with no satisfying ending and 1 hour too long..
365 dni (2020)
One of the worst, meaningless movie I have ever watched
A good looking rich bad boy is obsessed with a girl for no logical reason... I get nothing from this movie but feel overwhelmed by how bad it is... Bad acting, unlikeable characters, ridiculous laughable plot..It is a meaningless movie that tries too hard to be sexy but failed miserably and ended up feels cheap..everything is too over the top including the way the girl walk..
It tries to be sexy and romantic but it turns out more like a cheap soft porn. I gues less is always more, movies included.
Yeopgijeogin geunyeo (2001)
One hour too long
The parts that matter in this movie is the first 10 minutes that shows how the 2 main characters met..and then the last 30 minutes towards the end..that's it.. Because in between nothing really happened..
No story development or anything important happened .. Just the 2 main characters spending time with each other.. And some irrelevant things happened just to show the personality of the girl.. As if the viewers still don't get how sassy she is..
The guy went from feeling a bit suffocated with her controlling behaviour then suddenly likes her.. How can that be when at times she seems too much, a control freak and even abusive.. The ending even coincidental, it is a bit sweet.. but it is still not worth the extra run time..of all the Korean films that I've watched so far, this one I like the least.
Gokseong (2016)
1 hour too long mashed genre
If you watch this movie without knowing the synopsis you will keep guessing what this movie is all about.. Is it a crime movie? Is it a zombie movie or a monster movie? The early part is too slow and filled with annoying stupidity of those sissy policemen.. The multiple plot twists within the last 10 minutes are the only part that I enjoy but it could not save the whole rhythm of this movie.. Its unsettling but it does not create a lasting impression.. Well at least for me
