Kill (2023)
Finally a real action film
No more flying salman, no more jumping akshay, no more floating shah rukh... Finally somebody had the idea of making a real good action flick... And the result is awwww... The stunt director's effort is commendable in the film as it is shot in a very congested set and what a marvelous job. This is the kind of film that will compete with the world's bests... Not tiger or lion... They are just cats in front of these youngsters... Great strategic writing. After "The Dark Knight" it was this one that made me clap for the antagonist... Casting is outstanding. I just couldn't pick a bad actor in this one.
Joker: Folie à Deux (2024)
Music killed the DC star
I went to watch a movie instead I had to watch a sequence of music videos which weren't even fun watching or pleasant to hear. I fell asleep thrice... The writer certainly missed to understand why the previous one was a super hit. Gaga was a disastrous choice for the character. She appeared nowhere close to Quinn. The film in general was a disapointment. There was no content at all. Very amature writing I'd say but commendable performance by Phoenix... Not against musicals but just that it wasn't meant for our protagonist.. sitting there in the theatre I imagined Heath Ledger performing those acts and my peace of mind was plundered.... They need to come up with a part 3 soon so that the horrors of this one is erased from my mind... Hopefully with a better writing..... Cheers.
Malayalee from India (2024)
It was a flop show for me
Most of the scenes felt like I've seen it before in some other movie... Like it was a compilation of many scripts, old and new. Even including the rat scenes was typical. Adding metaphor is great essence in movies but things that have already been used several times in several movies is just bore. People have access to world movies these days and at such times if you don't have original idea you better don't make the film. Nivin Pauly is becoming fat... Soon many things will start looking odd on him. Professional actors go out of their way to look perfect on the role and we have people who find it hard to maintain their shape in real life.
Animal (2023)
Super acting, pathetic film making
Ranvir, Anil, Bobby... exceptional work by these three but the way the film is made is just another 90's south Indian film (Tamil/Telugu) with better technology (not including Kannada and Malayalam films as they are more creative)
I see the youngsters loving it, obviously it was targetted on them.... is this the kind of blockbuster that we want our kids to watch and learn? All in all the screenplay was (-) 200 and the direction was about average.. set direction was brilliant, lighting was awesome... but all these good work was failed by direction and screenplay... Bollywood is getting desperate.. that's all I can say.
Secret Invasion (2023)
Too slow and boring
Watched 3 episodes out of love for the movies but ended up sleeping through all 3 of them because of the lengthy, boring conversations that led to no interesting conclusions.. poor script writing. In this net-age when everything's trying to move faster than light TV series are going the opposite direction.... They haven't left anything for the viewer to imagine or assume.. It felt like the story/script was written 50 years ago. They could have made it a 2 hr movie or a 3-4 episode series by keeping it short and interesting.. My personal opinion - nobody would be waiting for next episode.......
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023)
Yet another blunder
No word can describe how bad it was... The worst I've ever watched. I was having a bad day and I needed something or someone to abuse and the movie served it's purpose well. I was so glued to the screen to find something interesting or sensible but couldn't. It made feel disgusting about myself for choosing this film to watch.... But in the end I felt satisfied knowing that I could be a little less angry about the senseless things happening in my life. By the time the movie ended I was much happier about my life and the people around me... So pls watch it so you can be enlightened too like me..
0/10 for direction
1/10 for casting
-100/10 for script.
Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022)
Amateur direction and screenplay
The actors were used poorly making them look like amateurs. Their performances reminded me of many children's tv series of DD1, Zee and Star back in the 90s... Story was good but bad script and disastrous screenplay.... Mixed opinion about SFX because one moment they are good and the next a blunder.... Felt like watching TV series in the theater..... That's how it is edited...... The plot seemed great and we all love to watch fantasy movies, if created keeping in mind what era you live in. Hoping to see a better execution while making part 2. Will definitely watch but will not take risk of watching in theatre.
Thuramukham (2023)
Took me a while to understand what was happening
I felt bored at many points but it got interesting towards the end. A well directed tale of the struggles of our ancestors for their rights and the price they paid for true freedom and equality. Screenplay was a bit lazy. Unorganized maybe. There were pointless repetitiveness of things and many unwanted scenes that could be avoided to keep the film intact and interesting... Casting was brilliant. Most of the actors have done great job and justified the characters they played... Indrajit didn't fit in that role in my opinion... Great set and edits made it look like actually in the 50s.... BGM was bad... Super bad.
Enkilum Chandrike (2023)
Average
The comedy made me smile at times but not laugh. Maybe if I had company I would have. So for me it was an average script supported with good direction, acting and editing.... Sound edit wasn't that good. At many points dialogue wasn't audible because of the loud background sounds..... Casting was cool...... I'd say I liked almost everything but the script lacked the punch and made it look like a basic countryside daily-life story... Wasn't ever a fan of Basil's acting but he's done better in this... So overall a one-time-watch on a sunny afternoon sipping your coca cola in an AC theater.. Have fun and don't forget to rate and review.
Pathaan (2023)
Same old Bollywood
Bollywood never learns but just copy from movies that are made either by south India or by the west... Those who've seen 007 movies in the 90s would agree that this is just an Hindi version of Bond movies made by Hollywood in the past 2-3 decades... The fight scene on truck-top in the earlier part of the movie looked more like drama than action. There was no logic in about 30% of the movie. Well you cannot expect logic where there are ShahRukh and Salman. That's where much criticized Amir Khan stands apart. Overall the movie is one-time watch even for the fans of stars in this film. Stunts in the train-fight was well directed untill Salman Khan showed up.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
Unreal animation
Super bad animation... Twelve years ago the animation looked like real animation.... what's this??? The character designing seem thirty years old but just faster than how it was back then... Couldn't connect at all with the script and creation.... It's a similar disaster like "adventures of buck wild" they ruined an interesting character back then, they are ruining another now... It happens when u employ impassionate people and make them work under poor direction... But it's not the worst disaster so go ahead and give it a shot.... Maybe you'll find something interesting that I missed.... Let me know in your review.
Aaraattu (2022)
Close to disaster
Felt like an outdated "Suresh Gopi" script from the 90's.... It was literally hard to see Mohanlal in this act especially when the world has recognized him as a great actor. Can't blame him... The script touches parts of his old movies so he must've gotten carried away in nostalgia..... I thought these kind of movies were extinct but krishnan brothers did it... Not only made it but released it too. I salute my patience, I watched full movie don't know how and why.... Maybe I was too lazy to get up and turn it off or maybe I had too much time to waste... Mohanlal may lose some followers and lovers with one or two more acts like this.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Disappointing
Maybe I expected too much but I wasn't wrong to have expected more than Avatar... after all it is a sequel and so had to be better than the previous but it is not... Sadly I'm the only one that noticed poor animation in certain scenes that reminded me of "Adventures of buck wild".... Visuals were good but many scenes were unnecessarily dragged which made it hard to just sit and watch helplessly... What made me wonder most was that Jake comes with the whole tribe to rescue their children but after 1 or 2 minutes of the operation the other warriors disappear and the fight is left a family matter. The fin-less whale helps though... Similarly no update about 'forest people' after Jake's family leaves itched my thoughts...
Padavettu (2022)
Boring screenplay
The story was not bad but the screenplay dragged each scene with unnecessary shots that it became impossible to even pretend to like the film... Too much slowmo in the last fight, in fact the whole fight was in slow-motion. Story writing style was pretty old where things were being explained on atom level, c'mon, we are living in net age. People understand things faster than the speed of light.
However I liked the casting. Shine could've been used better or a bit more of his involvement would have been great.
Overall an average flick... People who watch movies based on the lead actor in the film would like it a lot 'cause Nivin has done a great job.
The System (2022)
What did the director smoke?
That's all I wan' know. Dallas Jackson, what did you smoke before making this? 'cos I swear today to stay far away from it.... Gibson must be cursing himself for being a part of this... 20 minutes of the movie and I felt like I was watching some amateur 80s' chinese stuff.... The actors have done their best but the way it is directed and the cinematography.... Both deserve an Oscar for "God knows what it was". I personally feel that the young film makers must watch this again and again so they'd know what not to do. Also the script seems like stolen from hundreds of average films from the past 2 decades.
Kantara (2022)
The fame is exaggerated but....
Long time ago I watched "7aum Arivu" a Tamil film. It gave me chills in the beginning for the first five or ten minutes but later I kept wondering why I was watching it... Now years later comes Kantara. I got the similar chills in the beginning but later begins the same kind of stuff that is seen in most of our films... However there's something else in this movie... The almost two hours of average movie period turns into thrilling entertainment in the concluding 10 minutes with a mind-blowing performance by Rishab Shetty that gave me goosebumps.. hats off to a brilliant display of acting, editing, sound and visuals.
Vikram (2022)
Where's the logic?
Just another KGF inspired film that has no logic at all.... Vijay and Fahad were reasonable but Kamal... Decode the film scene wise and you'll realize there's sense only where there's no Hassan. Like many other South Indian old stars who are releasing films glorifying themselves this one is kamal's it seems.... Loved agent Tina though. That was a gig.... Overall an enjoyable flick for one time if you watch it wearing 3d glasses.... Avoid the intro dance-song if you are not a Kamal fan.. just a heads-up if you don't want to find yourself in deep sleep or coma... Over hyped by fans I'd say.... Cheers.
The Last Airbender (2010)
Great script, poor casting and acting
Great story and script but the team failed to cast the right actors for almost all the characters... Most of the them looked constipated while fighting or showcasing their powers. Stunt direction was outdated. I noticed there was 0% coordination between both parties involved in a fight in almost all fight scenes... Patel and uncle Iron looked good though. Overall a one-time-watch and if you can overlook the poor acting in the film you can watch a few more times for the story is pretty captive. Not as bad as many reviewers have rated it 1 and 2..... It's worth a try on a lazy Sunday afternoon...
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022)
Great biopic
If the facts are all right the movie is a great insight to the life, struggles and achievements of Mr. Nambi... A great fan of Madhavan's acting but not in this film... He did not copy how a 60+ years old man would speak. He sounded just the way a 20 year old did in "3 idiots" but if overlooked his performance the plot is informative..... And damn I cannot post this review 'cause imdib is not allowing reviews less than 600 characters... So I go on putting dots..... Here and there ...... And many other places... Why this kolavari to me when others are posting 2 liners????? Oh damn.... It's still not 600... How long do I need to go?
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Logic, history and respect murdered
Poor comedy ruined the whole legacy.... For now...
Thor's struggle through his emotions made him look like a teenager. Maybe it was made for younger generation to connect with but the makers can't just show anything to grab attention of certain age group because after all he's a God who knows that he's a God.... Mighty Zeus was portrayed as if he was gay... How else could you fail? Could have been much better if they knew the depth of emotions shown in the film. After all they had Christian Bale with them... They could make a masterpiece but there it is, a poor comedy film in the end.. Casting, Editing, acting, all good but few points less for screenplay... made me sad.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
A class act
It's covered the 60s, the 70s, the 80s and to a great extend the 90s... A classic masterpiece for a viewer who's lived all of the modern era and knows how it was back in the days... Never loved Brad more than in this ever.
Phir Hera Pheri (2006)
Amateur comedy
Part 1 was great cos it was copied directly from a masterpiece but this.... The only great thing in the film was Johnny Lever... Exceptional performance by the legendary comedian... Rest all was below average and overacting.
Jallikattu (2019)
A delayed masterpiece
Multiple brilliant metaphors... It's for the viewer's intelligence to judge and understand. A classic, I would say. This is for people who live in movies... The climax was so brilliantly written n shot that I had to watch several times... "The man" is the worst being on earth.
Thallumaala (2022)
Waste of time n money
A below average story supported by poor screenplay. Back and forth story-telling technique was used too many times that it looked like amateur filmmaking though it wasn't. There's a deep disconnection with sense. However editing and stunt direction was great but that doesn't cover up for poor story.
Bãhubali 2: The Conclusion (2017)
A traditional masterpiece
If in a long long time I've loved the casting and direction of an Indian film after "A Wednesday" this is it. A pure masterpiece of film making... There's best of action, drama, tragedy... Everything that a movie promises.. few flaws in the war scenes can be overlooked in praise of the direction.
