The Acolyte (2024)
Appaling Dialogue, Atrocious Acting, Weak Story, Colourful cast!
Director - "Apologies Carrie-Anne but you die in the first scene".
Carrie-Anne - "Works for me".
Thankfully, the legend Moss was spared the ignominy of a prolonged appearance in this dog's dinner. I gave it a 2 star rating for the incredible make-up on Master Sol and the hours it must have taken to teach him to butcher the English language.
So you killed the only two white actors/characters in the first two episodes! Is that a budget thing or just a decision that you think you can put any no-name average actors in a show as long as they are "on trend"?
I thought Ahsoka was as low as this franchise could possibly sink to but alas I was wrong. "This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope".
Cloak & Dagger (2018)
Bin Liner and Wooden Spoon (Spoilers)
This is what we have so far - father gets killed in a car accident while talking on a mobile phone, dumb stupid kid gets his brother killed over a car radio, dirty cop covers up the killing and is stealing and selling confiscated drugs, mother is an alcoholic druggie and steals money from her kid, girl uses a date rape drug to steal from her entitled mark, mark attempts to rape girl and she stabs him to death, kid has a brawl on the basketball court, skips class and decides he is going to kill the cop with a gun that magically appears from nowhere. kids classmates beat him up because his teacher made all his classmates suffer for his bad behaviour, girl steals from a really nice bride who tried to help her - not only money but also her "just married" car, laundry guy is an arms dealer and false ID manufacturer, supermodel policewoman arrests girl's boyfriend (the only guy so far with any redeeming features), girl drives away (couldn't give a crap)........and so on.
As far as the targeted TV audience goes, this series is like hosting an AA meeting in a bar. Total and utter drivel - Iron Fist, Punisher and Inhumans were really scraping the barrel - you will need a mop for this one.
It is millennial flakey in its presentation, with unbelievably poor character development and a flat script. Two episodes was enough for me-I think one series is going to be enough for the majority!!
Strike Back (2010)
"Struck Down"
Whoever did the casting for Series 6 should be immediately taken out with an RPG. What were you thinking?? Replacing the god-like Philip Winchester, Sullivan Stapleton, Richard Armitage, Robson Green, Rhona Mitra and Andrew Lincoln with 3 midgets and a barbie doll all with dodgy accents. And to make matters worse, 20 is now being run by a timid girl from the BBC with a crush on Lord Grantham. You could not have got it more wrong if you had picked actors from the phone book.
I was really looking forward to the new season but so far The Brave is looking more polished and believable TV at every level. Totally disappointed!!
10 out of 10 for Series 1-4, 8 out of 10 for Series 5 and 5 out of 10 for this sad imitation.
Addendum: SE6E7 - unbelievable plot, unbelievable acting, unbelievable script, unbelievable romance, unbelievable decision making - just pathetic!! Lowering my rating on Season 6 to 3 stars and that is purely for the anthem "short change hero" which is all this debacle has left. Time to move on - RIP!!
Warehouse 13 (2009)
Brilliant potential -miserable fail
A great concept with all the potential on the planet to rival Heroes and X-files totally let down by appallingly bad acting and scripts. The whole show has a Jewish flavor to it with the actors constantly bickering in the genre of a stereotype Yiddisher household.
The two leads Myka Bering and Pete Lattimer are nothing short of imbecilic in their failure to put 2 and 2 together to solve scenarios that Dumb and Dumber would have little difficulty with. Then there is the writers unnerving attempt to have every race, religion and sexual persuasion represented in the show supposedly, one would assume, to garner a larger audience. The gay Buddhist was the last straw for me and I wept tears of joy when they killed him off only to be mortified in S04E02 when they brought him back to life. To make my point, in the above episode in question -Myka and Pete struggled to realize that it was the person that became the monster who had been affected by the artifact and not the people viewing it. Tragic really and why didn't Pete put on gloves when he was chasing down the artifact holder -because his character is a moron who really has no place in a show with this much potential: and then the perpetrator was arrested by the police -I mean what are the police going to charge him with?? Please give some thought to the scripts and stop the actors from always turning away to allow the bad guys to escape. Script writers- your audience have brains -or maybe they don't. Just a real shame. This could have been such a cool series.
