Aloha (2015)
Am I insane?
I actually thought I was going crazy while listening to the dialogue in the movie...questioning my sanity. Never have humans ever interacted the way this movie portrays it. I would not be shocked if aliens wrote this movie because that's how insane the interactions are. None of it makes sense, the characters are bizarre, and I had no idea what was going on. This is billed as a romantic comedy when it really a test of who your willpower and how long you can watch this weird concoction of like seven different stories happening at once. How do movies like this get made with so many famous people?!
A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)
I have no idea why this has such a low rating
This is a very good movie that does what the two previous movies has done, which is mainly focus on the characters and their stories in the midst of something horrific happening. I know people were mad because it didn't "explain" the aliens but that's never been the point of these movies. The acting and story are really well done. The main two characters have amazing chemistry and really tell such a story with so little words. I appreciated the creativity of the story and would love to see more movies centered around this event happening, whether they explain what's happening or not. Definitely would recommend.
Fall (2022)
For what it is, it's good
If you come into this expecting something really stupid and campy, it actually better than you think. I was surprised at how good the acting is and how genuinely terrifying it was to watch. It had a good pace and makes your heart pound with fear so it basically does its job as a suspenseful thriller. There are interesting twists, even if they are somewhat predictable. It does a lot with what was a small budget and lesser known actors. Yes, it's dumb they climb the tower, yes, you can get hung up on that, but bottom line, it's entertaining.
If you expect a phenomenal Oscar worthy movie, go somewhere else, but if you're looking for movie that genuinely makes you face your fear of heights, this is the movie for you.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2024)
It's just not good
Overall, this is very poorly written and acted. So many moments of dialogue are totally unbelievable and just in general, overly dramatic and silly. It's one of those shows you watch simply because you want to know "who did it" but there are a lot of eye roll moments along the way.
Pip is played decently well by the actress but her whole plight is so unlikely. It's hard watching her do so many stupid things but even harder is watching characters spew exposition to her for literally no reason.
The cringiest performance comes from the kid playing Max Hastings, who is clearly supposed to by like a Rile from Outer Banks but just comes across absurdly over of the top. His acting didn't was very hard to watch.
The worst plot point is the valedictorian of the school is in love with this girl who is completely awful and it's supposed to be like a sweet thing that he is? Dump her!
My main takeaway is British accents can't make a bad script and bad acting that much better. Netflix originals are batting 50 right now (yes, I mean 50 out 1000).
