Few cinematic characters have left as big of an impression as Ellen Ripley, Sigourney Weaver’s iconic “Alien” survivor, who led four films in the franchise and left behind some massive shoes to fill for everyone who’s come since. In “Alien: Romulus,” that’s a young cast of franchise newcomers, led by “Priscilla” and “Civil War” star Cailee Spaeny.
Directed by “Don’t Breathe” and “Evil Dead” filmmaker Fede Álvarez, the latest installment heads back between the events of “Alien” and “Aliens,” introducing a young group of friends desperate to escape their grungy mining colony. You will, of course, recognize the Xenomorph — H.R. Giger’s inimitable alien creature — but for everyone else, here’s a handy guide to the “Alien: Romulus” cast and characters.

The Alien: Romulus star is taking the world and beyond by storm.
It's a question many of us have pondered in the middle of the night, but Isabela Merced has lived it: if you had to face a xenomorph or one of the infected from The Last Of Us, which would be worse? For Merced, who plays Dina in the second season of the show and stars in Alien: Romulus, it’s the infected. “[But] it depends what state, right?” she tells Empire, having thought about this extensively — Merced is a deep researcher about all of the projects she works on and played the whole game. “There’s the dumber ones, then there’s the Clickers, then in the game you have the Stalkers... But the Bloaters are ter-ri-fy-ing!
Oh my God. My heart’s racing now just thinking about it!”

Few could look away when a nearly naked Dakota Johnson stepped onto the red carpet for the world premiere of Madame Web. The 34-year-old has been a brand ambassador for Gucci since 2017, so it’s no surprise that Johnson received a sparkling custom gown from the Italian brand for the Sony Marvel movie screening.

Known for dressing with stars Scarlett Johansson, Selena Gomez, and Julianne Moore, Kate Young styled Johnson for the Madame Web premiere. She honored the spidery theme with a web-like gown encrusted in crystals, almost like water drops on a spider web.
Johnson wore a nude bodysuit with a plunging necklace to match the form of her spaghetti-strap dress.

“Superman: Legacy” writer-director and DC Studios co-chief James Gunn is expanding the new DC universe with three new actors joining the cast: Nathan Fillion (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”) will play Guy Gardner, one of the figures known as Green Lantern; Isabela Merced (“Dora and the Lost City of Gold”) will play Hawkgirl; and Edi Gathegi (“X-Men: First Class”) will play Mister Terrific.
Gunn cast David Corenswet (“Hollywood”) as the titular Man of Steel two weeks ago, alongside “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
At a press presentation of the new DC Studios slate in January, producer and DC co-chief Peter Safran said the film will focus “on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”

Exclusive: Sierra McCormick (American Horror Stories), Jade Pettyjohn (Big Sky), Brenna D’Amico (Descendants franchise), Gianni DeCenzo (Cobra Kai) and Bentley Green (61st Street) have signed on to star in Burnouts, a supernatural thriller from writer-director Tim Donner, which is heading into production in Atlanta this summer.
The film sees a group of grieving teens, hot off of quarantine, head off for a much needed retreat to reconnect and mend their wounds. A seance subsequently leads to an evening where anything can and does happen. Summer Parker (ABC’s Schooled pilot) and Connor Hammond (The Summer I Turned Pretty) will also star. Farrah West cast the film, which Kevin G. Lee and Kendrick Foxx of Tlk Filmworks are producing.
McCormick recently had an arc on FX on Hulu’s American Horror Stories, and can currently be seen in the horror film We Need to Do Something, which is streaming on Hulu.
