The Grammy Awards (17.6 million/5.4 rating) aired on CBS last night, but the 2018 telecast was down considerably vs. the 2017 telecast.
Before that, the red carpet spectacular drew 10 million viewers and a 2.2 rating.
ABC was the sole network to air original programming as the others opted to duck the competition.
Surprisingly, Shark Tank (4.3 million/1.1 rating) was on par with its most recent results.
NBC went with a movie, The Neighbors (1.4 million/0.4 rating), and it failed to draw in much in the way of traction.

James Franco is kicking off award season with a bang! After hitting the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday with his younger brother Dave, the actor took home the award for best actor in a musical or comedy for his performance in The Disaster Artist. Before delivering his speech, James brought out Dave and director Tommy Wiseau, who is the subject of The Disaster Artist. James plays Tommy in the film, and during his speech, the actor took a moment to explain how The Room is tied to the Golden Globes. "Nineteen years ago, he [Tommy] was stuck in traffic from the Golden Globes," James told the crowd. "He said to his best friend Greg [Sestero, who starred in The Room], 'So what? I'm not invited.'" James then did his best Tommy impression as he referenced the fact that Tommy was never recognized for his film, saying, "'I know they don't want me . . . I...

“I got the results of the test back – I definitely have breast cancer!”
Forget the Eclipse! The wait is almost over. The St. Louis movie event of the summer is this weekend! The Room screens Midnights This Weekend (August 25th and 26th) at the Tivoli – with Tommy Wiseau in Person (!!!) as part of the Reel Late at the Tivoli Midnight Series. All seats $15.00, no passes.
There will be thousands of plastic spoons flying through the air in the Tivoli’s main screen this weekend. Grown men in tuxedoes will be throwing footballs three feet away from each other in the Tivoli’s lobby. What’s going on and who will that strange man with the sunglasses, odd accent and black stringy hair be that everyone will be crowded around?
Our city is bracing itself for the arrival of the one and only Tommy Wiseau! St. Louis-area fans of The Room...

As we patiently wait for the release of James Franco’s The Disaster Artist (or at least a 3D version of The Room), we’ll have to get our fill of bobo-auteur Tommy Wiseau via midnight screenings, memes, and reruns of The Neighbors, for those that can stomach it. For example, the below edit from Facebook page core-core brought Wiseau’s The Room character Johnny into the world of Star Wars, where he encountered yet another Mark.
Among those delighted were the comedians of YouTube channel Pistol Shrimps, who decided to take the meme a step further. In their rendition, Wiseau’s now-iconic assertion of innocence is seamlessly interwoven into the Force Awakens epilogue alongside a few more of Wiseau’s greatest hits.
Here, Wiseau’s antagonistic “chip-chip-chip” chicken sounds may very well posit him as a new nemesis. Hey, he’d at least be more interesting than Snoke.

An introductory paragraph for director-writer-star-producer Tommy Wiseau seems redundant, pointless. He is a towering figure in the canon of So-Bad-It’s-Good cinema with his smash cult hit, The Room. Behind the scenes stories of his antics are widely spread — in fact, they’re the central focus of the James Franco’s latest directorial feature, The Masterpiece. Since The Room, Wiseau has since worked in various forms — on a short-lived sitcom of his own creation called The Neighbors and as a villain in Samurai Cop 2, all the while selling his brand-specific underwear. No, I’m serious.
So now, after a 15-year gap, the cult classic icon has reunited with Room star Greg Sestero — who penned the book The Disaster Artist, which Franco’s film is based on — for a new feature, the title of which is, frankly, ingenious. Best F(r)iends, which Wiseau himself promises will “make you find paradise” after viewing,...

Having a debut film as critically and commercially panned as the 2003 feature The Room can spell doom for many careers. In the case of Tommy Wiseau, however, who wrote, directed, and acted in the film, it proved to be a fruitful start to his career, as the film has grown in cult status solely due to how many people find it entertainingly bad. Midnight screenings of The Room have become a common occurrence, and co-star Greg Sestero’s book about the experience of filming the movie, titled The Disaster Artist, is poised to be adapted into a film itself by James Franco.
Despite the notoriety afforded by The Room, however, Wiseau has gone on to other directorial projects as well, even creating a tv show called The Neighbors. His latest directorial effort comes in the form of a music video for the band Corsica Arts Club. Putting previous music video directors David Fincher,...

Be it alchemy, good fortune, or a deal with the devil; somehow The Room went from an indie stinker to a cult classic thanks to an overnight Internet following. With his new show, The Neighbors on Hulu, Tommy Wiseau would seem vindicated and ready to write his own ticket in Hollywood, and even he knows the score. Which makes one of the next projects he's proposed sound even more ridiculous, as he wants to tackle a very serious issue in American history: the slave trade. Fusion had an in depth conversation with Wiseau, which highlighted the writer/director's hope of winning an Emmy out of his new sitcom. Apparently, though he didn't say it in as many words, an Oscar might be on his mind too, as he not only wishes he could play Abraham Lincoln in a future movie role, but he also wants to make a full film...

Week in Review rounds up the past week in film news in one easy place. Check back this weekend for round-ups for TV and gaming.
Oh Hai Tommy Wiseau. You’re making something of a comeback, aren’t you? Several months back we reported that you were working on a TV sitcom that you had written, directed, and starred in (naturally) called The Neighbors, but that in the same way that you would start throwing around a football and then completely forget about it a moment later, it seemed like that was just a whim. Sure enough, The Neighbors was picked up on Hulu, and this week you did a Reddit Ama to promote it. Looks like people are finally starting to recognize your genius.
Stepping away from my conversation with Mr. Wiseau for a moment, if you’ve ever actually gotten an opportunity to attend a late night screening...

Oh hey, Mark. Guess who did a Reddit Ama session? Well, kind of. Tommy Wiseau called someone from Reddit named Victoria, who evidently read him questions over the phone and transcribed his answers as best she could. (There are some hilarious instances of him responding with nonsense, and bless her soul, Victoria writes it all down like the saint she must be; also, Wiseau says "move on, next question," to almost every single question, which is incredible.) We've rounded up the best of Wiseau's/Victoria's responses so you can learn more about his cult flop The Room; his new TV show, The Neighbors (available on Hulu now); his nonexistent autobiography, The Disaster Artist; his branded underwear; and the forthcoming 3-D prequel/sequel to The Room.Who's the biggest celebrity to say they're fans of his work? Well, we met Jonah Hill at a grocery store and seth rogen. The others...

It's been over a decade since we first entered The Room, but the cult midnight movie still draws legions of new fans and the legend around its mysterious auteur/creator Tommy Wiseau continues to build. James Franco will both direct and attempt to portray the off-kilter Wiseau in The Disaster Artist, a film about The Room's nightmarish production based on actor Greg Sestero's book. Now, Wiseau is back with a new project of his own: A sitcom called The Neighbors.
