Even though it might not be everyone's bag, there is no denying the popularity of "The Big Bang Theory" as well as its spin-off "Young Sheldon." Both had ridiculously long runs that defy the norms of the streaming era, where shows are lucky to run for three short seasons. A huge part of what makes these titles retain a loyal audience is the love viewers have for Sheldon Cooper, portrayed by Jim Parsons. But with both shows now in the books, would Parsons consider returning as Sheldon yet again?
E! News asked Parsons what it would take to get him to do a "Big Bang Theory" sequel series following his cameo in the "Young Sheldon" series finale, which aired on CBS in May 2024. The actor was blunt saying "reincarnation" before adding "the next lifetime," just to punctuate his point. He did so with a laugh before elaborating a bit on...

The “Big Bang Theory” spinoff series in the works at Max has found its first three cast members.

The show remains in development and has not been greenlit to series at this time, with Posehn, Sussman, and Lapkus currently under talent holding deals. “Big Bang Theory” co-creator Chuck Lorre is executive producing the new project via Chuck Lorre Productions, with Lorre currently under an overall deal with series studio Warner Bros. The major Young Sheldon character who won't be at Thanksgiving in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage
Thanksgiving is a time for the whole family to gather, no matter where you live. And that makes for the perfect opportunity for a reunion and to do so on television shows as well. Especially in the case of Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage being a spin-off of Young Sheldon on CBS.
Per TVLine, we're getting a Thanksgiving episode and it features a reunion with almost all of the major Young Sheldon characters celebrating the holiday with the McAllisters! Well, except for one major character. And that would be Sheldon himself.
Annie Potts, who plays Connie/Meemaw, shared a behind-the-scenes video of her, Zoe Perry as Mary, Raegan Revord as Missy, and even Craig T. Nelson as Dale in the McAllister home with Will Sasso as Jim, Rachel Bay Jones as Audrey, Dougie Baldwin as Mandy's brother Connor, and Jessie Prez as tire store employee Ruben. "The Big Bang Theory" was never a critics' darling, to the extent that reviewers were a bit stunned when they found themselves gradually won over by "Young Sheldon," but both series were massive Nielsen ratings hits that managed to attract loads of big-name guest stars. The former earned its nerd bona fides by landing appearances from "Star Trek" legends like Leonard Nimoy and LeVar Burton, while touching television immortality by casting sitcom god Bob Newhart as Professor Proton. As for "Young Sheldon," the producers happily welcomed Newhart back as the TV science host, and also brought on notable talents like Melanie Lynskey, Jason Alexander, and Lance Reddick.
So no matter how you feel about these ultra-mainstream shows, you've got to accept that there is no shame in playing the cameo game within "The Big Bang Theory" universe.

Once upon a time, there was a sitcom called "Rhoda." It was a spinoff of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," and was an instant smash. How instant? Early in the first season, Rhoda got married, and the episode was watched by over 52 million television viewers. It was the highest-rated episode of television in the 1970s until the premiere of "Roots" in 1977, and served as a bit of a sitcom laboratory for James L. Brooks and Allan Burns. "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" was groundbreaking in its own right, but, at least early in the series, Brooks and his writers were a little looser on "Rhoda."
One of their most brilliant ideas was to introduce a regular character who is heard but never seen. "The Andy Griffith Show" had done this on occasion with Barney Fife's beloved Juanita Beasley, but "Rhoda" turned the alcoholic Carlton the Doorman into something of a sensation.

For decades, CBS was known as the “Tiffany Network.” Now, CBS president/chief marketing officer Mike Benson is ready to “break some Tiffany glass.”
The exec, who has been giving CBS a modern image overhaul since taking over in 2019, has now turned his attention to its comedy brand. Timed to the fall launch of the Eye network’s four comedies, Benson has introduced the campaign “You’re Laughing at CBS.”
“People will say that CBS is old and stodgy, but actually, if you look at our programming, it’s really not,” Benson said. “I think we’ve got a lot of work to do, from a brand perspective, to show that we can have a lot of fun. That we are willing to poke fun at ourselves as much as we want people to come in and laugh at the shows that we’ve got.”

Exclusive: God Friended Me creators Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt are returning to CBS, teaming with the former The Neighborhood writer-producer Laura Moran, James Wan’s Atomic Monster and CBS Studios for Area 51.
The half-hour workplace comedy, now in development, is single-camera, indicating that CBS continues to opportunistically take shorts in the single-camera comedy space where it has had a lot of success with the recently departed juggernaut Young Sheldon and ongoing hit Ghosts.
Last year, CBS ordered only multi-camera comedy pilots, and its two new comedy series for next season are both multi-cam, Poppa’s House and the Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Multi-camera comedies are cheaper to produce, making them attractive for broadcast networks as budgets get squeezed amid declining linear ratings. For studios, broadcast single-camera comedies are hard to justify financially because of their higher cost and depressed network license fees.

The classic TV show “Matlock” is coming back to screens next year – but with a twist. Kathy Bates will take on the lead role as a lady lawyer named Madeline “Matty” Matlock in CBS’s reimagined version of the legal drama.
Matty is joining a prestigious law firm later in life, looking to prove that experience counts just as much as youth. As a woman in her 70s, she’ll show viewers that older people still have a lot to offer. “I wanted to write a character who challenges ageism,” says producer Jennie Snyder Urman.

Matty is joining a prestigious law firm later in life, looking to prove that experience counts just as much as youth. As a woman in her 70s, she’ll show viewers that older people still have a lot to offer. “I wanted to write a character who challenges ageism,” says producer Jennie Snyder Urman.

More familiar faces will be joining “Young Sheldon” alums Montana Jordan and Emily Osment on the upcoming spinoff series “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.” Set to guest star in Season 1 will be Zoe Perry as Georgie (and Sheldon’s) mother Mary Cooper, Annie Potts as his Meemaw and Raegan Revord as sister Missy Cooper.
“Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” stars Jordan, continuing his role as Georgie, and Osment as his wife Mandy, as the characters raise their new family in Texas. Unlike “Young Sheldon” (but like “The Big Bang Theory”), the series will be a multi-camera comedy as opposed to a single-cam. The series also stars Rachel Bay Jones as Audrey McCallister and Will Sasso as Jim McCallister. (Jones and Sasso had recurred on “Young Sheldon” as Mandy’s parents.)
Other “Young Sheldon” alums could eventually make an appearance as well, including Iain Armitage as Sheldon. “I hope so,” executive...

The Big Bang Theory has been over for quite some time already, but its story is continued by a recently ended prequel Young Sheldon and the latter’s upcoming spinoff titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Launched back in 2017, Young Sheldon brought the original titular character’s actor Jim Parsons back to the production set as the show’s narrator and executive producer. However, now he’s not getting accolades for reviving the fan-favorite story, and The Big Bang Theory’s lovers actually have a lot of things in mind to blame him for.
Initially, Parsons was the one to put The Big Bang Theory to its unplanned end. The actor once admitted himself that specific circumstances in his personal life and other projects he was working on made him feel like Sheldon’s happy ending was meant to arrive soon.

Since 2023, there has been a lot of buzz around more potential The Big Bang Theory spin-offs, partly thanks to the huge success of Young Sheldon. Moreover, earlier this year, it was reported that CBS was in the final stages of negotiation for a potential Young Sheldon spin-off, which will focus on Georgie Cooper and Mandy’s parenthood.
With the show finally getting greenlit, which will be titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, it led some to speculate that Jim Parsons’ Sheldon might make his appearance known in it. But per the actor’s stance on future TV roles, we might not see him in any sort of cameo in the upcoming sitcom.

Prominently known for portraying Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons has enjoyed an illustrious career, across television, film, and Broadway. Despite the immense success of The Big Bang Theory, the show is believed to have ended largely because Parsons chose not to return as Sheldon Cooper.

His decision sparked speculation about the factors influencing his departure from the show. Parsons later revealed that exhaustion and the emotional toll of losing his beloved pet dog were significant factors that led him to a point where he felt he could no longer continue with the series.

The original Matlock was a long-running network TV series in the 1980s and 1990s. It starred TV legend Andy Griffith as attorney Ben Matlock.
Debuting in 1986 on NBC, Matlock remained on that network until 1992, when it moved to ABC, where it remained until it wrapped up in 1995.
Matlock was a popular legal procedural created by Dean Hargrove, who was also behind the original Perry Mason.
Ben Matlock was a defense attorney who often proved his clients innocent, usually in dramatic courtroom moments.
Since early 2023, a reboot of Matlock has been in the works, not on the original show's networks but on CBS.
The other big change is that the Matlock character in this version is a woman, played by Kathy Bates.
