Lionsgate has set a Us release date for drama The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister And Pete.

The film stars Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) and singers Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks.

The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister And Pete chronicles two city boys who must care for themselves after their mothers are taken away by the authorities, Deadline reports.

The coming-of-age drama will arrive in theatres in limited release on October 11.

The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister And Pete comes from director George Tillman Jr, who is best known for his work on Men of Honour and Soul Food.

Actors Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (The Bourne Identity), Julito McCullum (Akeelah and the Bee) and Adam Trese (Zodiac) also star.

The film, written by Michael Starrbury (Black Jack), has yet to be given a UK release date.

It's been a few years now since we first started hearing about the possibility of David Gordon Green directing a remake of Dario Argento's Suspiria. 20th Century Fox Television has inked a pod deal with Rough House Pictures. Under the one-year pact, Rough House principals David Gordon Green, Jody Hill, Danny McBride and head Matt Reilly will develop animated and live-action comedies targeted for broadcast networks. This marks the first network TV deal for the company. Hill and McBride co-created the HBO live-action comedy series Eastbound & Down, now in production on its third season, and Green created the upcoming MTV animated comedy series Good Vibes. Additionally, Rough House is producing the Comedy Central comedy pilot Black Jack starring Ving Rhames. "We as a studio are always looking to be in business with people who we think have unique and specific voices, and the group from Rough House have that," 20th TV chairman Gary Newman said. On the feature side, Pineapple Express helmer Green is directing the forthcoming Jonah Hill comedy The Sitter for 20th Century Fox Studios.
