The duo was gunned down in Mehsampur village, Punjab, in 1988. Their assassination remains an unsolved mystery and was the subject of Kabir Singh Chowdhry’s 2018 mockumentary “Mehsampur.”

“Chamkila,” produced by Reliance Entertainment, is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, known for “Jab We Met” (2007), “Love Aaj Kal” (2009), “Rockstar” (2011) and “Highway” (2014). Pop star and actor Diljit Dosjanh (Netflix original film “Jogi”) plays Chamkila while Chopra plays Kaur.

“Diljit and I are going to be singing throughout the film. We’re doing like 12-15 songs because it’s a film on music. We’re doing live recordings on set.

Rohit Shetty, the filmmaker known for his Singham cop franchise, and Reliance Entertainment, will produce a biopic on one of Mumbai’s most revered top cops and former commissioner of police, Rakesh Maria.

The biopic will be based on Maria’s 2020 memoir “Let Me Say it Now” and will be mentored by Shetty. A director and cast have yet to be finalized.

As deputy commissioner of police (traffic) in 1993, Maria cracked the Bombay serial blasts case. He was later deputy commissioner of police (crime) and then joint commissioner of police (crime), of the Mumbai police. The city was renamed as Mumbai in 1995.

Maria solved the 2003 Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar twin blasts case. He was also given the responsibility of investigating the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008 and interrogated Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist captured alive.

Actor Shreyas Talpade turned a year older on Wednesday, and is happy to spend his special day with family and friends. 

"I usually have a working birthday, but this time it is different. I am spending my birthday with family and friends. With (daughter) Aadya growing up, all priorities change. Now it boils down to what she likes," Shreyas told Ians.

Arshad Warsi feels it is easy to get stereotyped as an actor, and very difficult to break away from it. The actor says he has managed to evade the image trap despite his overwhelming popularity in comic roles only because his serious roles were equally loved.

Street Dancer 3D takes the film franchise that is Street Dancer to its expected next level, with the returning characters played by Prabhu Deva, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor being joined by the new queen of dance Nora Fatehi for a dance off for the ages. Actor Ajay Devgn took a dig at his "De De Pyaar De" co-star Tabu with a throwback image of the two from the film "Vijaypath".

Ajay posted the image on Twitter. In the photograph, the "Singham" star can be seen sleeping with his mouth wide open while Tabu is sitting beside him, looking completely bored.

He captioned it: "Still haven't figured if the reason to fall asleep was the puzzle or Tabu."

The two are in costume for their song "Aayiye aapka intezaar tha" on the sets of their 1994 film. The number was sung by Kumar Sanu and Sadhna Sargam.

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has said that making "Golmaal" feels like a responsibility as it has been appreciated by the audience over the years.

He was interacting with the media at the launch of upcoming children's show "Golmaal Junior", based on Shetty's Hindi comedy film series of the same name here on Friday.

Talking about "Golmaal Junior", Rohit said: "'Golmaal' is basically kid's brand. I am saying this because when adults come to see 'Golmaal' they become kids. For me, Ajay (Devgn), Arshad (Warsi), Kunal (Kemmu) and Shreyas (Talpade), it has been like a childhood memory. It's been 14 years since the time we started shooting since the year 2005.

Actor Kunal Kemmu has been a part of filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Golmaal franchise for a while now. He says the multi-starrer film series works only because of the entire team, including his co-stars Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor. Kunal has been part of Golmaal 3, Golmaal Again, Go Goa Gone and has more multi-starrer movies, including the recently announced Malang and the fifth part of Golmaal, lined up.

What does he like about being a part of multi-starrer movies?

"The most important reason is that it's not on your shoulders," he replied with a laugh.? But that's not the only reason.

"It's the story that always attracts me. A film like Golmaal only works because of all of us. It is as much Ajay's film as it is mine or Arshad's or Tusshar's. These are the stories of the gang,"
