Outlander fans are gearing up for the second part of season 7, premiering in November. But we're also looking beyond to the final chapter of the series. We can't contain our enthusiasm for how the epic time-traveling love story will end, and there are so many questions about how the series will take its final bow.
Fans are chomping at the bit to learn more about the ending, and the cast members are apparently right there with us. While speaking with Collider, Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser) revealed that while she has read some of the final script, she hasn't read all of it. Basically, she's just as much in the dark as us. "The last script, I don't think any of us have read the full script," she shared. "I think they're still keeping parts of it to themselves until the very day that we film it. We're coming up on the second half of the seventh season of Outlander, Starz's epic time-traveling romance. New episodes start dropping on November 22. After that, there's only one more season to go before the series wraps up for good.
But how will it all end? If you're hoping that Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books hold the answer, you're out of luck. For one thing, she's unlikely to have published the tenth and final book in her series, which does not yet have a title, by the time Outlander season 8 premieres on Starz next year. Responding to comments on Facebook, Gabaldon clarified that she's given the producers "a synopsis and pieces for dialogue," but they don't have the full book. And considering that season 8 is already shooting, it's too late to get it.
And even if they had it, there's no way for the producers to fit in the whole...

There's still a good amount of time left before the end — we still have the second half of season 7 to enjoy later this year — but the eighth and final season of Outlander is coming over the horizon. The cast and crew met the other day for their last-ever table read, with everyone posting pictures of what was an emotional gathering. Let's start with Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), who wrote simply, "Final readthrough. Final block. Final season."

The first half of Outlander season 7 wrapped up on Starz over a year ago. The second half premieres in November. Fans might look at this and say something like, 'Stop telling me these are two halfs of one season. We had to wait over a year to get new episodes. These are two separate seasons you're calling part 1 and part 2 of one season to try and trick us. I see you! I see your lies!' And they'd be right. But at least new episodes are on the way.
Jamie and Clare Fraser, the couple separated by time by joined by love, have ever been at the center of Outlander. That'll continue when the show returns for new episodes later this year. “The passion hasn’t changed. It’s deeper and it’s developed,” actor Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie, told TV Insider during a set visit earlier this year.

“I did a play years ago called ‘Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off,’ about Mary Queen of Scots, who was King James’ mother,” reveals BAFTA nominee Tony Curran, who plays King James I in the Starz Limited series “Mary and George.” “In that play I played King James’ father, Lord Darnley, who got assassinated, got blown up. So, I knew a bit about his history. He never really had a mother because she was taken away by Queen Elizabeth when he was a baby and she was imprisoned before she was executed. How do Hollywood creators forge massive universes for their characters? For Ronald D. Moore, executive producer of “For All Mankind” and “Outlander,” it all began with the question: What if the Russians landed on the moon first? From this starting point, “For All Mankind” was born. Moore and his team explored their alternate timeline, weaving cultural, societal, and political shifts with historical events, crafting a rich universe for the Apple+ TV series.
Diving deeper into the intricacies of world-building for Variety’s Sony FYC Showcase, Moore was joined on the “Building a Television Universe” panel by “For All Mankind” co-showrunners and exec producers Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, as well as Maril Davis, who serves as an exec producer on both “For All Mankind” and “Outlander.” Also on the panel: “Justified: City Primeval” co-showrunners and exec producers Michael Dinner and Dave Andron, as well as Sony Pictures TV drama development exec VP Andrew Plotkin.

The latest round of Outlander spinoff casting includes an Easter Egg for a subset of the book-loyal fandom.
Starz on Wednesday announced the addition of four roles to the forthcoming prequel, Blood of My Blood. Among them: Watchmen‘s Sara Vickers in the part of Brian Fraser’s mother (and, therefore, Jamie Fraser’s grandmother). The character is a housekeeper in the Lovat household, which is good and all, but we’re super into how she’s also named after someone many devotees of author Diana Gabaldon will recognize: Davina Porter, who narrates the audiobook versions of Gabaldon’s Outlander book series.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood filming is officially underway in Scotland and with it comes the love stories of Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) parents and Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) parents. Chronicling the romances set in World War I England and the 18th-century Scottish Highlands, the show will explore two very different time periods, which eventually come crashing together with the help of Claire’s time-traveling abilities when she takes a fateful trip to Inverness. While the original television series is based on Diana Gabaldon‘s books, some fans may wonder how this spinoff will live up the franchise. (Credit: Theo Wargo/Getty Images for Starz) Well, Gabaldon put minds at ease when we spoke to the author in April 2023 for Outlander‘s Deluxe Collector’s Edition Issue as she revealed her own involvement in the prequel spinoff. “I will be writing a script for the prequel and also one for...

Outlander‘s upcoming spinoff Outlander: Blood of My Blood has already begun casting some familiar characters, which poses a big question: Will the new series include Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan)? In a universe that involves time travel, it seems like the door could certainly be open to the possibility, but considering this will be an original story not previously shared by author Diana Gabaldon, there’s no source material to reference for such Easter eggs. Blood of My Blood will chronicle the love stories between Claire’s parents Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) in World War I England as well as Jamie’s parents Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) in the 18th-century Scottish Highlands. (Credit: Starz) While the main focus would undoubtedly be on the main couples, it feels as though the time-traveling aspect leaves the door open for...

He’s back in the U.K. now to promote Mary & George, premiering April 5 on Starz, but will soon return to set to continue filming the spinoff. The 10-episode series is based on Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitríona Balfe) parents and, as Curran reveals to us, will specifically take place in 1714 and 1914. Exclusive: On the heels of his newest feature Radical‘s Festival Favorite Award win at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, filmmaker Christopher Zalla has inked with Entertainment 360 for management.
Zalla wrote and directed the critically acclaimed drama, based on a 2013 article written for Wired magazine by Josh Davis, which was among the most discussed titles at Sundance 2023. The film is based on the true story of Sergio Juarez Correa (Coda‘s Eugenio Derbez), a teacher in the neglected town of Matamoros, Mexico, who as Zalla notes in his director’s statement, suffered “a mental breakdown” after “increasingly failing to reach his students in each successive year.” When Correa stumbled upon “a new kind of child-directed learning” in a Ted Talk, he decided to try to implement it, in order to turn the situation in his classroom around, to profound results.

Droughtlander isn't over just yet, sassenachs. Though Starz's "Outlander" is ending after its eighth season, there's still plenty to look forward to now that season seven has not one, but two premiere dates.
On Dec. 23, 2022, Starz served up a preview of what's ahead in season seven to tide fans over, and the first teaser promised all of the romance, action, and prophetic dreams viewers have come to expect from the show. That time around, it was Jamie envisioning the future - which could be a warning of what's to come for him and Claire. In the teaser, Jamie tells Claire that he dreamed they were surrounded by an unnatural light. "I had another dream," he says. "There was a light around ye. But it wasn't candlelight, nor firelight. “Outlander” might be gearing up for its end, but everybody’s favorite dashing Highland warrior still has a home at Starz. Sam Heughan, the star of the channel’s smash-hit time-travel series, will star in the thriller series “The Couple Next Door” at the premium cabler.
The show, a co-production between Starz and Britain’s Channel 4, is adapted from the Dutch series “New Neighbours,” and stars Heughan as Danny, an “alpha traffic cop” married to glamorous yoga instructor Becka (Jessica De Gouw of “Pennyworth”). When a new couple moves in next door — Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson of “The Outlaws”) and Pete (Alfred Enoch of “Harry Potter” and “How to Get Away With Murder”) in their high-class suburban neighborhood, the foursome become fast friends, but tensions soon form. Especially when Danny and Evie share a passionate night together.
Filming for the series has begun in Leeds and Belgium. This is Heughan’s third series for Starz,...
