Kate Winslet and her ex-husband Sam Mendes were always listed among the most decent Hollywood couples. Surprisingly, media rumors about an alleged affair between Mendes and actress Rebecca Hall allegedly led them to announce their separation in 2010, culminating in their divorce in 2011.
But even after their separation, Winslet reportedly went ballistic when Mendes allegedly tried to hire Rachel Weisz in a James Bond film.

With Amazon MGM and Barbara Broccoli in no hurry to rush their man back into service, by the time agent next hits the screen he might be unrecognisable to anyone over 25
Like a seasoned croupier brushing the felt off everyone’s chips, Amazon MGM Studios boss Jennifer Salke revealed this week in an interview with the Guardian that there is absolutely nothing to worry about with regard to the complete and utter absence of any significant sign of a new James Bond movie, any time soon. “The global audience will be patient,” she said. “We don’t want too much time between films, but we are not concerned at this point.”

The longest time frame between James Bond movie releases was six years, with the mark being hit twice: first between Timothy Dalton’s final outing, 1989’s License to Kill, and Pierce Brosnan’s debut, 1995’s GoldenEye; the most recent came between 2015’s Spectre and 2021’s No Time to Die. It has now been three years since that Daniel Craig farewell hit the screen…but will it be another three? According to one key figure at Amazon (who acquired MGM in 2022), patience is still key.
Speaking with The Guardian, Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said, “The global audience will be patient. We don’t want too much time between films, but we are not concerned at this point.” That comment seems to sit somewhere in the middle. Are the studios not concerned because they have a specific vision for the future? Or because they feel like they’re on track for...

It’s taking a long time to get a new James Bond film made – but Amazon MGM is not rocking the boat with Eon at the moment.
James Bond day came and went this year, as it has the last few years, without a whisper as to the future of 007 on the big screen. Since the release of No Time To Die, Daniel Craig’s swansong that was shooting five years ago, Eon Productions has offered little sign of what the new Bond film will be, and who will be playing 007.
But then part-stakeholders now in the James Bond movie series is Amazon, who bought up MGM a few years back. Amaazon MGM studios now has a global head, Jennifer Salke, and she’s been asked about, well, where the hell 007 has got to?

Although the James Bond torch has yet to be passed, the franchise will have to Die Another Day.
Amazon MGM Studios global head Jennifer Salke recently gave an update on the franchise after Daniel Craig took his final bow as 007 in No Time to Die (2021), as the UK’s Eon Productions continues to maintain the majority of creative control.
“There are a lot of ideas [about potential actors] that have popped up that I thought are interesting,” she told The Guardian. “I think there are a lot of different ways we can go. We have a good and close relationship with Eon and Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G. Wilson]. We are not looking to disrupt the way those wonderful films are made. For us, we are taking their lead.”
Salke added, “The global audience will be patient. We don’t want too much time between films, but we are not concerned at this point.

Sam Mendes and Christopher Nolan, are two directors whose respective visions have transformed the landscape of modern filmmaking. Mendes brought his expertise to the James Bond franchise with 2012’s Skyfall and 2015’s Spectre, while Nolan crafted one of the most iconic superhero trilogies with The Dark Knight, and many renowned sci-fi films.

If there is anyone who knows what is happening behind the scenes in the saga over who will become the next James Bond, it’s Jennifer Salke, the global head of Amazon MGM Studios – home of box-office crown jewels including the 007 and Rocky franchises.
Salke was part of the Amazon team that sealed an audacious $8.5bn deal in 2021 to buy the 100-year-old MGM and its celebrated library of 4,000 film titles and 17,000 hours of TV programming – ranging from Gone with the Wind and The Hobbit to The Handmaid’s Tale and Legally Blonde.

Sam Mendes directed two James Bond movies, “Skyfall” (2012) and “Spectre” (2015), and he doubts he’ll return to the 007 franchise to helm a third entry. Speaking to Inverse to promote his new HBO series “The Franchise,” Mendes said the studio often needs a director who is younger and thus more “controllable.” That’s no longer him.
“Never say never, to quote the man, but I would doubt it,” Mendes said about directing a third “Bond” movie. “It was very good for me at that moment in my life. I felt like it shot me out of some old habits. It made me think on a bigger scale. It made me use different parts of my brain. You have to have a lot of energy.”

Sam Mendes doesn’t rule out a return to James Bond, but for James Bond 26, he reckons they want a more controllable director.
Well, James Bond day came and went over the weekend with a 283-word article on the official 007 website, and no sign whatsoever of the next movie. The wait continues, with it now being half a decade since a James Bond movie was shooting, and no announcement yet as to who’s going to succeed Daniel Craig as 007.

"Men in Black" is the best kind of blockbuster. It's uncommonly smart, riotously funny, exciting, heartwarming in spots, mean-spirited in others and, best of all, short. Yes, Roger Ebert was right when he said that no good movie is too long and no bad movie is short enough, but big summer movies have a tendency to give 'em too much of what they want. Sometimes, it's okay to leave the audience wanting more -- and by this I do not mean a post-credits stinger hyping the next movie in the franchise (although I am old enough to remember the thrill of waiting through the credits of a new 007 movie so I could see the "James Bond will return in..." title that typically gave viewers the title of the MI6 agent's next adventure).
At 98 minutes, "Men in Black" zips by.

Some of the most compelling moments in White Bird, Marc Forster’s mostly slushy adaptation of R.J. Palacio’s graphic novel of the same name, take place during flashbacks to the 1940s. These are the recollections of an aging grandmother trying to teach her grandson lessons about kindness. They’re also stories of survival, and Forster, with Dp Matthias Königswieser, films them in a way that avoids the trappings of sentimentality.
In them, the German-Swiss helmer behind Monster’s Ball, Quantum of Solace and more recently A Man Called Otto reaches for a specificity and a clear-eyed honesty that liberates parts of this young adult film from narrative contrivance. Unfortunately, too much of the rest of Mark Bomback’s screenplay tends toward saccharine manipulation.

Rachel Weisz, the stunner, seems to still be holding a potential villainous role in the James Bond saga a possibility. Throughout her decades-long star-studded career, she has been seen delivering applaudable performances in commendable roles across action adventure masterpieces like The Mummy film series and classic thriller dramas like The Favourite.

But as much as she is loved for her heroic roles that saw her in a different light nearly each time, Weisz hasn’t eliminated the chances of her becoming a part of the same franchise of the peerless spy that her husband Daniel Craig earned worldwide recognition through. In fact, if anything, the actress confessed she was still prime to join the saga.

All the James Bond films go back on Prime Video to celebrate James Bond Day this weekend – but there’s no sign of a new film announcement.
The official James Bond 007 website has been drawing attention to the fact that this Saturday, the 5th of October, is James Bond day. This has become a thing it seems over the last few years, and it marks the date of the world premiere for Dr No, the first official 007 movie.
Dr No was released in 1962, which coincidentally appears to be the last time we heard anything about where the James Bond saga is going next. Following Daniel Craig’s swansong in the tuxedo back in 2021’s No Time To Die, there’s been radio silence from Eon Productions over the whens, wheres and hows of the next James Bond movie.

Warner Bros. delivered the biggest hit of September with “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and they hope to follow that up with “Joker: Folie à Deux,” the oddly-titled sequel to the 2019 global hit “Joker,” which grossed $1 billion worldwide with $335 million of that coming from North America after a $96.2 million opening. Before “Deadpool and Wolverine” was released this past summer, it was the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

Steven Spielberg only had this James Bond actor in mind to play the father of Indiana Jones, Henry Jones, in the third Indy film, The Last Crusade. George Lucas imagined Laurence Olivier for the role, which was initially written to be a more serious one. However, Spielberg wanted to cast Sean Connery in the role and try to outdo his James Bond role.

Timex’s Pan Am collab is one way for timepiece collectors and history enthusiasts to fly back in time — and after selling out last year, the Hollywood-loved duo has launched a new collection for fall.
Priced from $289 to $299, the latest Timex x Pan Am collection features two new silhouettes in recycled stainless steel cases and leather straps with contrast stitching: the Fly Back Chronograph in 43mm and the Waterbury GMT silhouette in a 39mm size. The chronograph movement features “leveled-down, fan-shaped sub-dials at the 4 o’clock and 10 o’clock positions with retrograde hands,” and the upper sub-dial can keep track of a second time zone when not used as a lap counter.

Daniel Craig is best known for his role as Agent 007 in the James Bond films. Starting with 2006’s Casino Royale, the actor played the role for fifteen years, ending his tenure with 2021’s No Time To Die. The actor was reportedly happy to exit the role and has since starred in Knives Out and will be seen in the upcoming Queer.
However, one film reportedly trumped his horror at playing Bond repeatedly. The actor spoke about the early scenes that director David Fincher showed from their collaboration The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Craig mentioned that he was horrified at the visuals and could not believe the free rein he got from the studio.

Daniel Craig has finally bid goodbye to his blockbuster James Bond franchise. The actor has branched out to other roles, including playing detective Benoit Blanc in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out franchise. He will be next seen in Luca Guaagnino’s romantic drama Queer, which recently premiered at the Venice International Film Festival.
Among the many racy scenes in the film, Grammy-nominated singer and debutant actor Omar Apollo reportedly had to share intimate scenes with Craig. Though Apollo was nervous about sharing the screen with the former 007, Craig reportedly put him at ease by mentioning that he was terrified every time the camera was on.

Even though Daniel Craig has been famous for playing quite a few characters following his breakthrough in the entertainment industry through Our Friends in the North, his best role to date still ranks as one of the most iconic iterations of James Bond of all time. But while the part brought him tremendous fame and wealth, it also seriously meddled with his personal life indirectly.

As it turns out, though his immaculate portrayal of the fan-favorite peerless spy has left behind a legacy very few could live up to, it has done no favors to Craig’s current wife Rachel Weisz. Apparently, Bond was exactly what was causing further rifts in his 13-year-long married life as it left him as a “broken” man “very hard to live with” until the time he let go of the character.

Ben Whishaw played James Bond’s technology and weapons expert Q in three 007 movies with Daniel Craig, joining the franchise on a high note in 2012’s acclaimed “Skyfall” and also appearing in 2015’s “Spectre” and 2021’s “No Time to Die.” The latter title marked Craig’s last Bond movie, which has Whishaw predicting that his time as Q is also over.
“I don’t think I’m going to be in the next one,” Whishaw recently told the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg about his future in the James Bond film franchise. “I think they’re going to start all over again, and with a new cast, a completely new cast. I think that’s my hunch, but I don’t know. I have no idea.”

Ben Whishaw suggests that the entire cast may be replaced for the next generation of James Bond 007: more here.
Speculation remains rife as to the future of the James Bond movie saga, even as franchise guardians Eon keeps up its policy of radio silence until it’s ready to talk. Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson are presumably moving things along behind the scenes, but even as the rumour mill throws in names of directors and potential successors to Daniel Craig, we’re still seemingly as we were come the end of 2021’s No Time To Die.
Still, when someone involved with the James Bond saga has a thing or two to say, it does come with a little more weight. And while Ben Whishaw – being interviewed on the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg programme over the weekend – is just proffering his opinion, it does suggest more clues.

There exists an alternate cinematic realm wherein Pierce Brosnan, having concluded his run on the briefly successful NBC action-drama "Remington Steele," inherited the role of James Bond from Roger Moore and likely guided the franchise through a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape. It's possible he could've failed, but that would've been the fault of the production team led by Albert "Cubby" Broccoli. Because Brosnan was born to play Bond. Broccoli even said as much when he met the actor on the set of 1981's "For Your Eyes Only." Though I'm a huge Timothy Dalton supporter, I think versions of "The Living Daylights" and "License to Kill" tailored to Brosnan's more debonair persona would've been much bigger hits, and brought a quick resolution to the legal wrangling that hastened Dalton's departure.
Pierce Brosnan was the platonic ideal of a big-screen James Bond.
Alas, NBC boneheadedly misread the ratings uptick the due-to-be-cancelled...

Gemma Arterton has revealed that she once had to resist pressure from an unnamed director to film a sex scene that was written to take place off-camera.
Arterton, who has performed alongside Daniel Craig in James Bond movie Quantum of Solace and is currently starring in The Critic, said she “flat out” rejected the director’s demand.
In an interview with The Radio Times, the actress said: “I remember being on a set once and the director said, ‘You’re going to shag on the bed.’ And I said, ‘No, this scene was written for us to be off-screen, so you just hear the noises. I’d never have accepted the role if it was going to be filmed.’
“He put pressure on us on the day. The other actor, God bless him, was mortified. There were very high-profile people there.”

While there is still a lot to find out about the next James Bond movie, we do know one thing: Edward Berger, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind All Quiet on the Western Front has been hired to direct. Except, that’s not true at all, and Berger would really like you to stop saying it is.
Speaking with Deadline, Edward Berger made a plea for people and publications to quit saying he will be calling “Action!” for the next installment. “That’s an absolute rumor. There’s no truth to it whatsoever. I would be very grateful if you put out that fire.”
Edward Berger went on to praise the woman behind the James Bond franchise, also acknowledging he has trust that she’ll choose the right director when the time comes. “Barbara Broccoli is a wonderful producer. She will know what to do at the right time, and it’s her family legacy.

Edward Berger describes reports that he’s on the James Bond director shortlist as “absolute rumour”. More here.
You’re set to see a fair few interviews with director Edward Berger over the coming months, as his new film Conclave seems certain to be a leading contender in the upcoming movie awards season. His last film – All Quiet On The Western Front – was something of a gong attractor too, so he very much knows the drill.
What’s changed since he was last in the awards spotlight though is that Berger has been heavily linked with directing the next James Bond film. This isn’t something that he’s brought up himself, rather that the rumour mill has him on a list of directors for the next 007 adventure.

Exclusive: Though Conclave is fiction based on the Robert Harris novel, you cannot watch Edward Berger’s taut thriller about the election of a new pope without noticing the parallels to the polarizing politics of the race for the White House. The surprise twists and turns abound as it becomes clear the Vatican will either retreat into past conservative, exclusionary policies, or embrace Catholics who’ve been excluded by the institution. The German-born filmmaker is introducing his follow-up to the harrowing WWI drama All Quiet on the Western Front, which won four Oscars including Best International Film. This one-two punch also announces a major filmmaking talent, though he’s no overnight success. Whether he moves on to a major studio franchise like Ocean’s 14 or 007, it is clear from the confident hand in his visual storytelling that Berger is a filmmaker who can make the kind of impact in...

Christopher Nolan has long been a fan favorite, there’s nothing he could do that would make the public turn on him. For years, people have been eagerly hoping he’d take the reins of a Bond film, and it’s easy to see why this idea is a slam dunk. Need another reason to back this golden notion?
Just check out how he transformed Anne Hathaway into a sensational Catwoman. If Nolan can work that kind of magic, just imagine what he could bring to the world of Bond!

Daniel Craig’s run as James Bond lasted for fifteen years beginning with Casino Royale in 2006 and No Time to Die in 2021. While there was initial doubt about the actor filling in Pierce Brosnan’s shoes, he soon proved everyone wrong with his physicality and charm. He is also responsible for the highest-grossing James Bond film in history – Skyfall. The film made over $1.1 million at the box office as it received unending praise from all.

Following their recent collaboration in Wolfs, George Clooney and Brad Pitt are circling Ocean’s 14 – with Edward Berger as director.
While George Clooney and Brad Pitt have recently been bestowing their movie star grins on all and sundry at the Venice Film Festival as they attended the premiere of their new film, Wolfs, we imagine that in private they’re slightly less happy. In recent years, Neil Gaiman has seen many of his beloved works become outstanding TV shows, from The Sandman and Dead Boy Detectives to Good Omens and American Gods. His name is ubiquitous in the fantasy space, but amid numerous sexual assault allegations, adaptations of his works are starting to be affected. Notably, Disney has paused its live-action adaptation of The Graveyard Book.
The Graveyard Book follows Nobody "Bod," a young boy who seeks refuge in a graveyard after his parents are murdered. He meets ghosts who become his new family and he grows up in the graveyard. The book shares a striking resemblance to Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book...except with ghosts instead of jungle animals.
Disney's adaptation of The Graveyard Book was announced in 2022. Marc Forster was on board to direct the movie, with David Magee penning the script. Neil Gaiman himself was never directly involved. When the project was announced,...

Jenna Ortega doesn't want a female to play James Bond. The 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' actress argues that more franchises should be created with female leads in mind instead of film studios following the trend of reimagining classic movies with women in the starring roles. In an interview with MTV, Jenna, 21, said: "I love that there's a lot more female leads nowadays, I think that's so special, but we should have our own."I don't like it when it's like a spin-off – I don't want to see like 'Jamie Bond'. Jenna Ortega won’t be suiting up to play a female version of James Bond anytime soon — and that goes for all male-originated roles.

Jenna Ortega, known for her roles in “Wednesday” and the upcoming movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, wants to see more original action franchises focused on female leads. In a recent interview, the actress expressed her views on representation of women in Hollywood blockbusters. Ortega said she appreciates the growth in female-led movies but thinks the industry should create fresh stories, not just repurpose existing male characters.
She explained that turning classic franchises into spinoffs with women in the iconic roles, like “Jamie Bond,” is not the answer. Ortega would rather see new portrayals of strong, independent female characters headline their own adventure series. Her comments come as the film industry grapples with improving diversity and offering compelling roles for women and people of color.

Daniel Craig opened up about filming sex scenes for Luca Guadagnino’s “Queer” during the film’s Venice Film Festival press conference, saying he and co-star Drew Starkey “tried to make it fun.”
