Looking for something to stream that won’t cost an arm and a leg in subscriptions and rental fees? A slew of shows and films like “Dawson’s Creek” “Licorice Pizza,” “The Amazing Spider-Man” one and two, “Legally Blonde” and more will be arriving on the free streaming service Tubi starting on Nov. 1.

In the spirit of fall and Thanksgiving, Tubi plays with the idea of nostalgia bringing in some oldies but goodies. Among the incoming films are “13 Going on 30,” “The 40 Year-Old Virgin,” “Reservoir Dogs,” “Burlesque” and more. As for originals, Tubi will premiere four new projects — a documentary and three thrillers.

An anonymous source at the DisInsider answered a question regarding the actor’s potential involvement with the upcoming Live-Action Remake of Hercules via their mailbag.

Spooky season is upon us and Max is getting in on the action.

The internet has been freaking out over Austin Butler’s recent Oscar nomination. His astounding performance in the 2022 biographical drama Elvis has been turning heads worldwide. Spooky Season is in session on Hulu, as the streaming service is adding a ton of horror-themed content this month. But not to worry, there’s plenty of other non-spooky new movies and shows to watch, too.

In the horror realm, director David Bruckner’s new (and well-received) take on “Hellraiser” arrives on Oct. 7, while horror films ranging from “Annabelle: Creation” to “The ABCs of Death” to “Monster House” to “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” arrive throughout the month.

In decidedly non-scary new arrivals, the entire series of “Schitt’s Creek” comes to Hulu on Oct. 3 after streaming on Netflix for the last few years, while the Hulu original film “Rosaline” – which tells the “Romeo and Juliet” story from a different point of view – streams on Oct. 14.

Other noteworthy library titles include Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch” on Oct. 25 and David Cronenberg’s “Crimes of the Future” on Oct. 31.

When the name of your streaming service so neatly fits into the word “Halloween,” you have a moral imperative to bring the goods come spooky season. Thankfully Hulu is abiding by that obligation with its list of new releases for October 2022.

Sydney-based Odin’s Eye Animation has secured sales of kids’ TV series “The Beachbuds” to Disney Japan and ABC Australia. Other territories are under negotiation at the MipTV market in Cannes.

“The Beachbuds” is a 52-episode x 11’ animated series set in Zoobak Resort, a fictional tropical island paradise with the funniest feathered friends. With a target demographic of 6 to 11-year-olds “The Beachbuds” teaches kids about harmony, hospitality and humor, so no matter what happens everyone can have their best day ever.

The series is produced by J-Toon Productions, a U.S. and Indonesian firm, established in 2013 by industrialist and minerals magnate Jimmy Budiarto, and Montreal-based producer-distributor Syon Media. The producers previously negotiated a license deal for Southeast Asia, where the series is now available on Disney Plus Hotstar.

The series is directed by George Samilski with writers including Primetime Emmy-winner Steven Banks, Ken Goin and John R. Morey (“Family Guy”).

WarnerMedia has acquired the rights to new animated show “Master Moley,” starring Warwick Davis and Gemma Arterton, for its children’s platform Boomerang in more than 100 countries across Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Master Moley” is based on original stories written by British entrepreneur James Reatchlous, who spoke to Variety about how it came to life.

The deal, struck by Jetpack Distribution, will see the animation’s 30-minute special, “Master Moley By Royal Invitation,” head to the channel in November. The acquisition of the new 52-part series, comprising 11-minute episodes, “The Misadventures of Master Moley,” will continue the adventures of Master Moley and friends on Boomerang next year.

The animation follows adventurous mole Master Moley, who lives deep in a burrow under Queen Elizabeth II’s Windsor Castle in the bustling city of MoleTown, where he is the keeper of a magical book, which has the power to bring peace between humans and moles.

Exclusive: Brenda Chapman, who directed the Sundance film Come Away, starring David Oyelowo, Angelina Jolie, and Michael Caine, will write and a direct live-action hybrid feature based on Claribel Ortega’s upcoming novel, Ghost Squad, which will be published by Scholastic.

They’ve proven to be among the most popular kids series on Prime Instant Video, and all four of them were recently honored by the Parents’ Choice Foundation. Today Amazon announced that it has greenlit second seasons of its hit kids series: Creative Galaxy, Annedroids, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, and recent Annie Award winner Tumble Leaf.

Prolific television producer Barry Josephson has inked an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television. As part of the pact, the company also gets first look at feature films, a studio representative told TheWrap. The veteran actors collectively play former cast and crew members of a fictional 1970s show called "Prognosis: Homicide," and they now live in an apartment complex where another resident has died suspiciously. Capt. Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell) and her team seek the group's assistance in determining what happened.

Barry Josephson, producer of Enchanted and Aliens in the Attic, will produce Stan Lee's Chinese superhero movie The Annihilator. The movie is about a Chinese expatriot who makes a deal with the Chinese goverment: rather than go to jail, he'll sign up to be genetically altered for their supersoldier program. Josephson has serious kid cred as a producer, but he's also been behind one of TV's most unusual superheroes: he was the exec producer of "The Tick."

Dan Gilroy (Real Steel, The Bourne Legacy) wrote the script. The movie is being made by Magic Storm Entertainment, a compay created to make superheroes for the Asian marketplace. China's National Film Capital is helping finance the movie.

Seeing franchise potential from the eight-minute short, Fox is currently in negotiations to purchase the rights to Ruin and the pitch is to turn it into a live-action film.

The creator of the short, Wes Ball, is attached to direct and co-write the feature version of Ruin with T.S. Nowlin. McG is negotiating to produce the film through his Wonderland Sound and Vision company, along with Lucasfilm executive Steve Tzirlin, who oversaw script and story development for Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Ruin debuted on Vimeo in March, featuring a post-apocalyptic North American city that's been overgrown by vegetation. It's been referred to as I Am Legend meets Terminator 2. The film does provide an incredible vehicle for Ball to show off his skills in creating exciting chases. Fox jumped on the opportunity to purchase the rights to the film before any other studio saw it. A high six-figure deal is rumored.

Back in March we showed you an awesomely beautiful animated short action film called Ruin, directed by Wes Ball. The movie is set in a post-apocalyptic North American city overgrown with green foliage. It's really an impressive short, so it's not really a surprise that it's going to be adapted into a live-action full length feature film. 

20th Century Fox has made an offer to acquire the rights for the short, and McG (Terminator Salvation) is in negotiations to produce it. Ball is attached to direct the feature, and will co-write the script with T.S. Nowlin. Lucasfilm executive Steve Tzirlin is also in negotiations to produce the film. He oversaw story and script development for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The studio is hoping to turn this into a franchise.

Producer Donald De Line (Green Lantern, The Italian Job) is still hard at work on "The Jetsons," a live-action movie based on the 1960s TV cartoon show that was originally in development at the same time as "Yogi Bear." According to Variety, Van Robichaux and Evan Susser have just been hired to re-write "The Jetsons" script, which has had several writers, including Adam F Goldberg (Aliens in the Attic). Back in 2009, Robert Rodriguez was attached to direct the film. Then Peter Segal (Get Smart, Anger Management) stepped in to replace him. Right now, a direct has yet join the production. To absolutely no one's surprise, Hollywood has plumbed the vacuous depths of the children's lit market and come up with yet another hopeful franchise. Obviously, author Megan McDonald meant for her girl with the tangled red hair, the so-called "heroine" of the Judy Moody book series, to evoke aspects of both Pippi Longstocking and Ramona Quimby. This adaptation, directed by John Schultz (who helmed the similarly frenetic Aliens in the Attic), manages to stuff a whole lot of turbulent action into this movie despite the fact that there's nothing going on in the process. It's not even loosely controlled -- it's completely uncontrolled and exceedingly loud to boot. For the simple reason that it's not only a very boring movie but also a very shrill one, adults will positively despise Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer. Kids will tolerate it well enough, but they won't get anything out if it either.
