This was an interesting study of people. Richard Anderson (Six Million Dollar Man) is captured prisoner of Josh Randall. His gang captures the sheriff and two others to use for trade bait or to kill. Randall works on Anderson's pride as a man, and his guilt, while trying to track down the gang and the hostages.
Meanwhile the deputy sheriff (played by Terry Becker, who was later Chief Sharkey on Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea) is left in charge. His first desire is to help free the hostages with Randall. However, his sleazy, conniving gold-digger girlfriend, the saloon girl (played by hard looking Kasey Rogers) tells him he is a loser, and she is leaving town. Without any hesitation she tells Becker that if he wants her crusty love, he needs to become the top dog in town, and the sheriff needs to die.
In less than five seconds Becker has changed, and he leads the posse in circles the next day, and one of the hostages is sent into town dead. Becker's plan is to keep misleading the posse until the sheriff is killed.
Fortunately for everyone, John Anderson decides that he is not OK with innocent people getting killed for his freedom, so he tells Randall he will help him find the gang. Becker hears about this, and rides out with Randall and Anderson to find the gang. His real intention is to kill them both, so the sheriff will get killed off too. The final ten minutes are action packed, as all hell breaks loose. Excellent episode, excellent ending.
