One afternoon in the early aughts, Melissa George found herself in a hotel room with Harvey Weinstein. The mogul, wearing a bathrobe, wanted to discuss two roles in his upcoming films Derailed and Amityville Horror. An assistant waited in the hallway, but then, fortunately, so did George’s ‘entourage’.
“I actually was very well protected back then,” George tells me via Zoom, speaking from a park in Paris, with one of her sons in her lap. “My agent at the time said, ‘You’re not going to that meeting alone.’ And [Weinstein] realized that I came with bodyguards and back-up.”
With her team lurking, he made no inappropriate moves, beyond his choice of attire. But then, a week before shooting on Derailed began, the lead role earmarked for George was mysteriously demoted to a supporting one. She believes this is absolutely because of that tightly-controlled Peninsula hotel meeting.
But she prevailed,...

As with actress Annabella Sciorra and other women who have accused Weinstein of misconduct, Dunning is testifying as a “Molineaux” witness. Prosecutors are calling the Molineaux witnesses in an effort to establish a pattern of broader conduct by Weinstein.
Now 40, Dunning met Weinstein as a 24-year-old waitress at a nightclub in New York’s Meatpacking District. Move over Kevin Bacon! When it comes to working with everyone in Hollywood, Jennifer Aniston may be the actor to beat.
While Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon -- an idea that came from the actor himself when, in 1994, he told Premiere magazine that he’s worked with everybody -- has become the ultimate trivia game, it may be time to re-think who’s actually at the nexus.
Thanks in large part to Friends -- the former NBC sitcom now streaming on Netflix -- Aniston worked with a number of stars well before they were famous. And in the years since the series ended, Aniston has shared the screen with a few but key number of A-listers. But it wasn’t until she earned a 2015 Golden Globe nomination for her role in Cake that we realized she’s practically worked with everyone in Hollywood.

Jennifer Aniston, the Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominee, could land her first Oscar nomination for her role as a woman suffering from chronic pain after surviving a car crash in Daniel Barnz’s Cake. (It won’t be a contender in the musical or comedy category at the Golden Globes. The nominations will be announced Dec. 11.)
The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and received a standing ovation. Though the film has received mixed reviews, Aniston’s performance has been described as an ”honest, sturdy performance.” The Los Angeles Times’ Betsy Sharkey said that “it is a serious treat to see the actress stretch herself.”
Aniston embraced going sans makeup in the film (except for fake scars) and found freedom in it. At a press conference in Toronto, she said, “I loved every minute of it. It was extremely liberating to do that.

The Town that Dreaded Sundown is being remade or re-invisioned for 2014. Blumhouse Productions and MGM have completed production on a new film in the series, which takes place sixty-five years after the original. Both films deal with a crazed killer, who murders by moonlight. The update stars Addison Timlin (Derailed), Gary Cole (Office Space), Spencer Treat Clark, Joshua Leonard and Denis O'Hare. And now, a trailer for the latest film is hosted here, along with the film's movie poster. The story begins several years after the moonlit murders. Texarkana, Texas is again plagued with a masked killer, who preys on young women. Nearby, a lonely high school girl knows more about this killer, than she is letting on. The trailer shows the killer behind a potato sack? Meanwhile, kids are stalked in backwoods and in behind the town. The clip shows a few chases sequences as the killer lays waste to this rural locale.

The Killing was an American remake from AMC based on the nordic noir show popularised over here by showings on BBC 4. The Us version moved things to Seattle where it rained constantly and revolved around the murder of Rosie Larson. Unfairly compared to Twin Peaks when it debuted, it was nonetheless something of a hit on Channel 4 for at least two seasons. I lost track of it around the mid-point of season two, not because I didn’t like it, I enjoyed it lots despite its grimness but it became impossible to keep up with the weekly scheduled showings and 4Od was, and still is not very good. From what I hear season two wrapped up the murder of Larson and season three moved on to a new mystery which was just as gripping.

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson co-stars in Summit's action-thriller Escape Plan, alongside Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Caviezel, Vincent D'Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, and Amy Ryan. The $70 million film, directed by Mikael Hafstrom (1408, Derailed) centers on an expert on structural security (Stallone) "who is framed and put in a high-security prison of his own design, and must put his skills to the test to escape and find out who put him there." Fiddy is apparently playing some kind of tech genius named "Hush." Hollywood's way of "geeking up" an actor for a part usually starts with having them wear...

Google "Jennifer Aniston Box Office Poison," and here are some of the headlines on the first page of results: "Jennifer Aniston's 10 Biggest Box Office Failures," "Celebrities With Good Looks Don't Always Translate Box Office Hits" and "Another Box Office Bomb For Jennifer Aniston!"
Which is to say that, for many industry observers, Aniston doesn't carry much box-office clout. "Over the past decade, she dropped one box-office bomb after another during her attempted run as the next America’s Sweetheart," Kevin Fallon wrote for The Daily Beast. "She’s failed as the next rom-com queen. She’s flailing in her attempt at becoming a lascivious leading lady. So what, exactly, do we want from Jennifer Aniston?"
Well, maybe we're already getting it: For instance, Aniston's new film "We're the Millers" is headed toward a debut week tally of about $30 million in North America. It's not like Aniston is fronting movies like "The Lone Ranger.

Next Wednesday marks the release of Rawson Marshall Thurber’s raunchy comedy, We’re The Millers, a Jason Sudeikis- and Jennifer Aniston-starring affair that aims to make international drug smuggling fun for the whole family (even if that family is a fake one, like the one in the film). It’s also another film that aims to convince America that both Sudeikis and Aniston are bonafide movie stars, a claim that we’re still not entirely sure is true (even if we do think that Sudeikis is well on his way). The problem lies with Aniston, an actress that has never been better, funnier, or more interesting than she was on the television show that made her (we’re talking about Friends here, you’ve probably heard of it). Aniston has starred in plenty of films over the course of her career – including Leprechaun, She’s the One, The Object of My Affection...

Three horror vets join Alfonso Gomez-Rejon's remake of the 1976 slasher film The Town That Dreaded Sundown. The film is based on the true story of a serial killer that stalked a small Texas town in 1946. At least five people were killed and the perpetrator was never caught. Addison Timlin (Derailed, Zero Hour) has already been cast as the headliner. Joining her are Veronica Cartwright, Gary Cole, and Joshua Leonard.
Cartwright will play Timlin's grandmother, who raises her after her parents are killed in a car accident. In a career spanning over 50 years, Cartwright has had many roles in genre films, including The Birds, Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and Candyman: Farewell to Flesh.
Cole will play a deputy who is chasing the hooded killer. Cole is probably best known for his role in Office Space, but to me, he will always be Lucas Buck from American Gothic.

With a filmography that includes the paranormal spookfest 1408, the dark marital thriller Derailed, and the exorcism drama The Rite, Swedish director Mikael Håfström isn't exactly synonymous with kid-friendly filmmaking. But there's a first time for everything, and a press release reveals that Håfström has signed on to direct Tunnels, an adaptation of the 2009 young adult novel written by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. Relativity Media is producing the film, which follows two teenage boys who discover a secret underground civilization beneath the streets of London, waiting for a hero to come to their aid. Read on! Tunnels is the first of six books in the series, so there's obvious franchise potential in mind here for the studio. The Amazon synopsis of the first book says the action begins when the father of one of the protagonists disappears and the boy goes searching for him, which sounds an awful lot like...

Back in May, we got our first look at Arnold Schwarzengger and Sylvester Stallone on the set of their upcoming action/sci-fi thriller, The Tomb, with a peek behind the scenes of production interviewing the two action veterans.
Included with that were a few screengrabs of the grey-haired leading duo, and now the first official image of them has surfaced over at The Wall Street Journal.
The two will of course be returning to the big screen this coming weekend, with the release of The Expendables 2, but it will be in The Tomb that they’ll first be getting together opposite each other in leading roles for what is expected to be a huge action success.
“Ray Breslin is the world’s foremost authority on structural security. After analyzing every high security prison and learning a vast array of survival skills so he can design escape-proof prisons, his skills are put to the test.

For all their success so far, the Marvel movies have, aside from a few smallish parts, been a pretty lilywhite affair to date: only Samuel L. Jackson was a significant minority presence in "The Avengers." But signs are that the studio aren't going to keep that up for too long: yesterday, it was reported that the company are actively moving ahead with a movie about "Black Panther," the African prince-turned-crimefighter, and are targeting a release in 2014 or 2015.
Marvel has denied the reports, but this wouldn't be the first time they've denied something that turned out to be bang-on, and Latino Review's track record with Marvel scoops is pretty strong, so it seems to be a good bet that there'll be an official announcement about a "Black Panther" movie before too long. Which of course leads to the question: Who could play the character?

Imagine you have a film with a cast of established international names like John Cusack, Chow Yun-fat, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Franka Potente, Gong Li, David Morse and Ken Watanabe, a director who’s done some respectable work on Hollywood thrillers like "Derailed" and “1408,” a ‘40s period setting, and the prestige of producer Harvey Weinstein to boot. Sounds like Oscar fodder at the very least, right? The thing is, you don’t have to imagine, because this film exists, it's called "Shanghai," and it's been sitting on Weinstein’s shelf for almost four years since it wrapped in August 2008, with a trailer hitting back in May of 2010 ahead of a June release solely in China, and radio silence ever since.

The Governor is to The Walking Dead comic book series what Khan is to Star Trek. Sadistic, cruel, drunk with power and the most deadly adversary that Rick Grimes and his band of Atlanta survivors have faced, The Governor is ruler of his walled-off world. He does whatever is necessary to keep himself and his group of followers safe from the zombie horde. Some of the things that The Governor does in The Walking Dead are far more shocking than the acts of violence the mindless undead commit.

A living Hollywood legend is bouncing back from his troubles towards the Oscars, with an enhanced reputation for good taste
On Sunday, one man's name will be invoked in Oscar acceptance speeches even more frequently than mom, America and the Almighty. Or at least, one of his monikers will be. At last month's Golden Globes, Meryl Streep referred to him as "God"; Madonna as "the punisher". For Thomas Langmann, the French producer of The Artist, he was simply "le boss".
Harvey Weinstein's producer credit on films such as The Iron Lady, My Week with Marilyn, and W.E. has earned him his 303rd Oscar nomination. Surely it's only a matter of time before the academy fires up the foundry and remodels the award itself in his generous image.
