Bad Girls takes place at Larkhall Prison, a women's prison and chronicles the lives of it's inmates and staff. The main characters in Season 1 are Helen Stewart, the prison's governess who becomes a lover of Nikki Wade. Nikki Wade, a outspoken lesbian who is serving a life sentence for killing a cop who was trying to rape her girlfriend and becomes Helen Stewart's lover. Shell Dockley, an evil murderess who is also serving a life sentence for kidnapping, torturing and murdering the woman who stole her boyfriend. Jim Fenner, the corrupt chief guard who is having a sexual affair with Shell Dockley. Denny Blood, the best friend of Shell Dockley and is doing 7 years in prison for committing arson on a children's home. Young prison guard Dominic McAllister. Duo Julie Saunders and Julie Johnston who are both doing 8 years for prostitution. Sylvia Hollamby aka BodyBag, a bad tempered veteran female prison guard. Drug addict Zandra Plackett doing 10 months in prison for credit card fraud. Elderly Monica Lindsey who is doing 4 years in prison for stealing $400,000. The self-righteous and moral Crystal Gordon who has been sentenced to 12 months for shoplifting and Yvonne Atkins, the tough, no nonsense chief convict who cares and looks out for some of the inmates and has been sentenced for 4 years in prison for hiring a hitman to kill her gangster husband.
