I always thought that Peter Jennings was the best of the "big three"
Of the "big three" anchors of the '80s and '90s, it always seemed like Peter Jennings was the most intellectual. Hard to believe that in his 22 years as anchor, he covered the collapse of the Soviet bloc and later September 11. As I understand it, early criticism of him came because of his more circumspect approach to certain topics than other anchors (or maybe it was just because he was Canadian).
Still, from what I've heard, it would have been good to see "ABC Evening News" during the Vietnam War and hear John Chancellor's indictment of that war. I remember when Peter Jennings showed the 25th anniversary of the modern broadcast's first airing (they reported on the trial of some Soviet Jews): John Chancellor correctly identified that the USSR was dooming itself to failure.
But no matter. Had Peter Jennings survived a few more weeks, he could have covered Hurricane Katrina. I had never known that he smoked. But a radio station noted that he reported on anti-war protests when the US invaded Iraq, so you gotta give him credit for that.
So, for all it's flaws, I recommend this news show.

COMMERCIALS
I use to watch ABC World News but switch to. Sheppard Smith with MSNBC. I switched because World New Tonight has TOO MANY COMMERCIALS. Unfortunately, he was cancelled. I switched back to World News for now. Muir tells a news story and switch to commercial, then tells another then goes to commercial. I love watching the news show but too commercials is leading me to start watching NBC. Don't understand why so MANY commercials so close together. I know that commercials are needed but it can be not so close together. I think you get more commercials than you do actual news. Hoping for more news s.

Worst Journalists, biased and lies
Last night's debate done by the moderators of ABC was the worst one ever seen in the history of news. ABC is no longer considered a trustworthy station. Instead of being unbiased fair moderators, David Muir and Lindsey Davis attacked Trump and fact checked everything he said but did nothing of the sort for Kamala. They also gave their opinions which journalists should never do. I grew up watching ABC and respected PeterJennings. ABC is NOT THE SAME honest and honorable station it used to be. I am walking away from a station I grew up with and will never come back. Thank you for opening my eyes up to this biased unfair station and the untrusted journalists that work for you.

The News
David Murr ABC , CBS, CMBC NBC, How come none of use report the real facts in our country , how Biden is destroying the USA. Open boarders,Afghanistan pull out , Inflation high as ever before the war. You blame everything on Trump so if you don't report the real facts like Fox News you all should you all are guilty for misinforming the people of the USAand all should lose your jobs. We have more crime then ever with illegal imagrants , people losing their jobs and now living on the streets, taking in imagrants and boarding them with shelter and money before our own Veterans, you all should be ashamed of yourselves.

Professional, classy, and traditional was what you got from Peter Jennings.
"ABC News" was always highly informative in the evening with the now late and great Peter Jennings. The network was always on top of things in events, though from time to time the network would focus much on international and foreign affair issues. The reporting and interviewing was always top notch from people like Charles Gibson, John Stossel, and Elizabeth Vargas, and the legendary Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs were unbeatable. Yet the most traditional and best was Peter Jennings it was sad he passed so young, Peter always told the news in a traditional manner with such a smooth and calm voice and he was always a hard working newsman and anchor. And ABC is probably the most conservative of the big three certainly more to the right than NBC or CBS.
Too Little News, Too Much David Muir -- It's the News, Not the Muir Lovefest
Since David Muir has taken over, you can chart how things have shifted, seeming narcissistically to feature more and more of Muir.
He eats up the first two or three minutes doing nothing but summarizing -- sometimes more than once -- news stories you're going to watch, to the degree that he often literally reports the same thing. (You can switch channels and they're already actually reporting.) Then he's got to interject himself into the news story again by interviewing the correspondent.
If you break down the 18 or 19 minutes of news in between the insufferable and repetitious commercials for pharmaceuticals and home products, there's very little content here anymore. They hit a couple of major events, then do a long segment on the weather, and then wrap it up with some saccharine feel good story about some suburban white kid who had a lemonade stand or something.
And Muir himself is harder to follow, from his weird haircut (I thought Jimmy Fallon was the goofiest on TV in this regard) to his sticky lips that the microphone picks up and makes disgusting.
The glory days where the news was done by thoughtful anchors and the content was rich are long gone. This is more like Muir's blog come to life.

To the Point Reporting
Since David Muir took over as anchor, I watch no other news. Great stories presented professionally and accurately without bias. He has a way to present the stories not only with facts and professionalism but with caring. No political bias either which is rare in news. The "who, what, where and when" is presented fairly.
Would be nice to have less commercials at end of show, but it is good to end with feel good stories considering most news of late is depressing.

Can't think, just read the paper in front of him.
A few days ago I was watching David Muir and the ABC evening news. One story he was reporting on it was that it was the hottest day on earth. He reported the temperature is 62°F. Yes Fahrenheit. Of course the correct reading was in centigrade which is 143°F. I can't believe David Muir, the script writers, and producers can be so dumb as to not catch this error. Any high school student would know the difference and know that what he is reading is wrong. For this he gets paid millions of dollars a year. I also agree that there are way too many commercials. Between the weather which is always catastrophic, and the fluff story at the end there is not much news. I also don't like the little snippets of bias.

There is more to World News than the UK, Korea & Afghanistan only.
Diane Sawyer is an excellent newscaster. The best editions of her World News is when she really talks about other countries. On some nights, the program resembles local news reports. Wouldn't it be unique to bring us an extra 5 minutes of real news happening in some NON- headline country - Lord knows there are countries with war and starvation and elections and even exciting positive events that could keep us educated about the world and our foreign policies. Does Bosnia still exist? Sudan, Biafra, Mongolia, Thailand, Norway, Bolivia etc. My friends and I are interested in the World, not just you-tube videos of cute gorillas and cats. Please bring us more WORLD news.

Shilling for Disney resorts
I used to trust ABC News to deliver news. Lately, though, they are using the limited time in their broadcast to "report" what is happening at Disney resorts. I cannot believe real news people are putting up with shilling for Disney products and calling it news. It is appalling.
There is a lot going on in the world and, given the large number of ads in a 30-minute broadcast, there is actually less than 18 minutes devoted to reporting news. To displace coverage of events that matter with events important mostly to Disney properties is a disservice to viewers and an embarrassment to professional reporters.
Tonight David Muir teased the Disney honors no less than 5 times then devoted more than two minutes to the awards ceremony, now streaming on Disney+. This is not news, it is using a supposed news program to shill for ABC's parent company.

Replace David Muir with Whit Johnson
I can't handle all the extra stress added by David Muir.
Also, what is up spending more time with multiple headlines for a certain news than the time used for the actual news. Did you ever record the news to later fast forward the commercials? Well, I constantly miss those 'few secods news' because they don't even appear during fast forwarding. Watching the news when Whit Johnson is covering for David is way better. Thank God for Leaster Holt in the meantime. Well, to be honest I'm getting fed up with both nightly News always bashing Trump and covering for Biden. I recently checked out Fox News and it felt more acceptable.

What did ABC do for the kids and orphans from Ukraine
I just saw the David Muir report about the children and orphans thst left Ukraine for Poland . He interviewed many of the children etc. I am wondering if ABC thought to bring anything to give to the children or did they simply exploit them for ratings and for their news content . They knew that were going to meet these kids and did they bring anything for these poor children .

Very disappointed!!!!!
This is a great news program but it needs to change its name to EXLCUDE "WORLD" news in the title. National News Tonight? ,
actually, tonight with the exceptoins of the MiddleEast, there was no mention about the entire rest of the "WOLRD" An aritcle about a dog and bear cubs is more important thank anything else in entire worlds??? Give me a break!. What about the U. K, Europe, Asia incluidng China and Japan, Africa, Australiea, India, South America and god knows what else?
PLEAE DROP THE "WORLD' from your broadcast.
You cannot calll yourself "WORLD" news.
The rest of fo the world is going by and you have NO INTEREST in it. Any comprison with NPR would show you the something about the the rest of the world. And, acutally,it can be more interesting than the latest idiocy abuut Trump.

Good news magazine show
"ABC EVENING NEWS," in my opinion, is a good news magazine show. I enjoyed seeing Peter Jennings as the main anchor. There are many reasons why I said that. It's so sad that he passed away. Before I found out about his death, I never knew he smoked. If you ask me, it seems that nobody stays with a TV show throughout its entire run anymore. Still, I enjoy hearing about what's happening in the world. The only thing I don't like hearing about is when someone has been murdered or gone missing. Now, in conclusion, I highly recommend this good news magazine to all you die-hard news magazine fans. You will really enjoy it.

Tulsa shooting June 2
Well ABC David Muir led us to a president corrupting our America.
Now ABC and David cannot even give accurate news here in Tulsa.
I have lived in Tulsa and born here for 77 years.
World news was even accurate. ABC doesn't even know where the shooting happened. Dumb idiot stupid democrat station.
Shooting was NOT at a Tulsa Hospital.
It was at the NATALIE MEDICAL BUILDING. YOU CRUCIFIED TRUMP AND NOW YOU CANNOT EVEN SAY IT TOOK OUR POLICE 4 MINUTES TO RESPOND.
OH I GET IT. WE ARE REPUBLICAN!!!!!!

Thank you David muir
This week yall are actually the first ones that has been back to Ukraine to show what's going on over there. I been trying a few stations but yall are the ones that went back and I really thank yall for showing what's been happening over there. I watch yall every night and thanks for the news. This review says 600 letters so here's some more. I believe the first time I saw putin he was evil. And now with things going on the way they are shows how evil he is. I know how people can be evil because I was evil when I was young but I finally grew out of that part of my life. Guess you could say I am a good person now. I am 60 years old so life keeps on going.

You are incorrect explaining climate change for the drought. That is not true. It is due to deforestation to plant fields and have grass for cattle. Report the accurate news Sir. Not the narrative for the democrats.

Repetitive Headlines
We have always liked David Muir news program but wonder why it is necessary to repeat the headlines at least three times during the program. It is too repetitive and done every day. Our memory is fine and can't help but think we could get a good more info if it was not done,

Too many commercials!
Way too may commercials! They discuss one topic and then back to commercials.......
I gave it 10 stars because...
I first saw David Muir on and Old school Tv when I was on a Christmas trip to Pennsylvania in 2022, where my grandmother is. I was jumping on the bed while the old school tv was on and the World news tonight came on. When I was jumping on the bed... I saw his face for the first time and I was curious... "who is that guy" I said in my mind. 1 month later... I was looking on the guide on tv and when I was scrolling on ABC... I found his face... "hmm... is that guy familiar to the day I saw him while jumping on the bed" I said in my mind. That was the day where I knew his name. I thought world news existed in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and on Saturday night live. But ok. I started watching him in January, and I thought he was kind of cute for some reason in my head and heart. But not to much... UNTIL NOW... when I realized the world news was doing the #America strong thing that is where feel something in my heart. One time... he smiled at the end of the world news... I thought he was just smiling at me! And when I saw the video where David hugged Lilly from the grocery store, that's where I fell into Very deep love with David. I literally have a crush on him right now and don't get mad at me when you are reading this... but love songs remind me of him now. The song are "You Are Not Alone by Micheal Jackson" and "My Love By Paul McCartney" and I love him so much that I kissed the TV screen where his lips are on the Tv screen. Don't hate on me plz. I hope you are happy for me and have a good day! 🙂✌🏻
Lies, lies, and incredibly left leaning
I'll keep my review short. This news program lies to hurt President Trump, Republicans, and conservatives. Also, they lie to uplift, boost, and cover up the dirt of all Democrats and Joe Biden. They just bold faced lied about the border problems. If Joe Biden dropped a bomb tomorrow, guess who wouldn't cover the true story and guess who they'd pin it on, President Trump.
How anyone can call this travesty news? How is it news when they never tell the truth about what's really going on?!?

Bias David Muir
How come that now you don't insult and diminish our new president?
You used to do it everyday for everything TRUMP did or didn't.... Who is to blame for our Mexican border disaster?
Who is to blame for Afghanistan shame?
How come you don't mention biden for nothing????
Shame on you and your channel for being one side only and so politically bias....
