If anyone ever gets the chance to see this rare film, you will be moved!!
This film is not available in the United States due to a dispute between Rickie Lee Jones and her then label, Reprise Records. It aired on Canadian television and all over the world to rave reviews. I managed to get to see it from a friend who taped it off of British television.
It is really too bad that Americans cannot experience this wonderfully crafted, moving, and thought provoking slice of life and music. It basically is RLJ speaking of her music, her life and influences. Her childhood, teen years, adulthood, and her rise to stardom and drug addiction are all covered here. She has led a fascinating life and it is all played out as memories from her past. These memories are recreated in a very artistic way.... with several blond women acting out RLJ's experiences.... but we never see their faces, just blond hair from the back..... so it ads to the mystery and mystique of her life. If anyone ever gets a chance to see this, please take the opportunity.....even if you are not a fan of Jones' music, you will be mesmerized by what you see! It will haunt you for days afterwards. Just brilliant.
