Edmond Classen, who plays Eddie's grandfather, was only 53 when the first season was being filmed and wasn't (and has never been) a real-life grandfather. Maria Stiegelis, who plays Eddie's mother, is only 6 years younger than her on-screen father, while her on-screen son (Peter Lusse) is 15 years younger than she is.
On the DVD release from Disky (2005/2006/2007), episodes' lengths vary. One episode can last 29 minutes, another can last 23 minutes. Sometimes for a television series episodes are longer when they are aired on their original channel, after which they are cut shorter for reruns on a different channel. This means it is possible that there are deleted scenes. Another indication for this is that in some episodes Maria Stiegelis and Gaston van Erven are credited for appearing while they do not appear in those episodes.
The series credits poster and season 1 DVD cover are set up like a family portrait. Curiously enough, Paul (Sander de Heer) is also on it as the only non-family member, although he is just Eddie's work friend--and not even a very good one.
Eddie and Ellen's cat is often mentioned but rarely seen.
Based on the LWT series The Two of Us (1986), which had just ended its run a year before this series started airing.
