One of the locations where the movie has been shot, the imaginary village called "Borgo tre case - frazione di borgo dieci case" (literally "Three houses village - fraction of Ten houses village") is Casoni, near Pavia.
The scene of the village people sitting to look at the train passing by became such a cult scene in Italy that some movie enthusiasts formed a club and meet once a year on the filming location (indicated by a commemorative plate) and sit down waiting for the train passing by. Often also actor Renato Pozzetto takes part to the meetings and repeats the gags from the movie. Pozzetto stated that the last time before the Covid-19 pandemic there were at least 500 participants.
Actress Sandra Ambrosini, who played Artemio's girlfriend Maria Rosa, often takes part to movie fan meetings and manages a Facebook page dedicated to her character.
In 2020 Renato Pozzetto starred in a TV commercial for railway Trenord repeating the gag from the movie: "Il treno è sempre il treno" ("The train is always the train").
Artemio's mother Giovanna is played by actress Clara Colosimo, but dubbed in the original Italian version by actress Liù Bosisio, at time of filming particularly known for having played the character of Pina Fantozzi in the first movies of the Fantozzi saga together with Paolo Villaggio. Nowadays she is particularly known as the voice of Marge Simpson in the Italian edition of The Simpsons.
