Charmed, I’m… not so sure.
After years of rumors and false starts, a Charmed reboot is once again in the TV cauldron, with The CW ordering a one-hour pilot script that is being billed as a prequel-ish reimagining of the beloved WB original. What better way to celebrate Mother's Day than with these inspiring women who stood up to the people who tried to shame them for breastfeeding - or in one mom's case, for using formula. Because at the end of the day, these moms are just trying to do what's best for their children. Emily Locke paused to nurse her son in a Cleveland, Ohio, museum after a long day taking photos for her sister's wedding. The Yeti attack at Covent Garden in recently recovered Doctor Who episode, The Web Of Fear, is a masterwork. Here's why...
The Web Of Fear was commissioned after a positive response to The Abominable Snowmen by then Story Editor (soon-to-be Producer) Peter Bryant, with the intention that it would close out Doctor Who’s fifth season. Rewrites for Fury From The Deep resulted in it becoming the penultimate story (one of many variables that resulted in Nicholas Courtney playing the role of Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart). Previously available as an audio soundtrack narrated by Fraser Hines, the film of The Web Of Fear was returned to the BBC archives in 2013.
I first experienced The Web Of Fear as a Target Novelisation at some point in the Nineties (I can’t remember if it was in Uddingston Library – so many Targets, so many Asterix books – or my primary school’s...

As her absence from Hasbro's Star Wars Monopoly game leaves fans asking "Where's Rey?", we look at a curious merchandising decision...
Nb: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Sometimes, public pressure really does work. Over the past few days, you may have heard the stories that Rey, the character played by Daisy Ridley in The Force Awakens, is notably absent from Hasbro's Star Wars Monopoly set.
The board game comes with four playable characters from the Star Wars franchise, and they're all male: Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Finn and Kylo Ren. Mysteriously, the lead character of the entire new franchise is nowhere to be seen. As reports of Rey's absence circulated around the net, a letter written by an eight-year old Star Wars fan was also widely shared on Twitter.

Companions new and old combine as Strax makes the transition to the world of Big Finish's Doctor Who audio adventures…
While rumours of a Paternoster Gang Doctor Who spin-off have been floating around for ages, no one could have predicted this – an audio production that teams up Dan Starkey’s Strax with Tom Baker-era companions Jago and Litefoot, played by Christopher Benjamin and Trevor Baxter (they first appeared in Tom Baker’s The Talons Of Weng-Chiang in 1977).
While classic companions are normally fair game to Big Finish (indeed, there's already 9 series worth of Jago and Litefoot material), Strax’s inclusion here makes him the latest in a very-recently-established trend that has seen the Torchwood cast, the main show's Unit characters, Alex Kingston’s River Song, and Ian McNiece’s Winston Churchill all swap the televisual realm for Big Finish audio adventures, all in the space of the last year.

Welcome to the April 6, 2015 edition of Outrage Watch, HitFix's (almost) daily rundown of all the things folks are peeved about in entertainment. Today's top story: Mindy Kaling...'s brother has come under fire for some dumb stunt. After revealing on his blog AlmostBlack.com that he got into medical school 15 years ago only after pretending to be African-American -- and that he plans to write a memoir about his experiences -- the "Mindy Project" star's older brother Vijay Chokal-Ingam has become the target of criticism from folks who aren't too happy with his affirmative action-bashing. His most prominent critic may be his famous sister, who allegedly told Chokal-Ingam that his revelation would “bring shame on the family.” "Frankly, I think it’s kind of funny that Chokal-Ingam’s point seems to be that affirmative action is bad, but apparently riding on your sister’s coattails is just dandy," writes Salon's Mary Elizabeth Williams,...

Director Kirby Dick and producer Amy Ziering's 2012 documentary The Invisible War took a look at the epidemic of rape within the American military and won 2014 Emmy Awards for Best Documentary and Outstanding Investigative Journalism, Long Form; a 2013 Peabody Award; and the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award. It was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. They now shift the focus to sexual assault on the American college campus with their new film, The Hunting Ground, a Radius TWC release which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and opened in theatrical release February 27.
Among the sobering statistics documented in the film are the following:

Ken Marino and Ryan Hansen‘s little bromance is about to encounter a big rough patch.
The real-life pals and frequent co-stars (Party Down, Veronica Mars, Play It Again, Dick, etc.) will play potential adversaries when Hansen guest stars on Marino’s NBC comedy Marry Me, TVLine has learned exclusively.
In an episode set to shoot next week and air later this season, Hansen will portray Lee, the ex-boyfriend of Marino’s onscreen fiancé Annie (Casey Wilson).
The gig also reunites Hansen and Wilson, who, coincidentally, played love interests in a Season 2 episode of Happy Endings.

We doubt Daddy Warbucks would approve! Consumers are slaming Target for a series of in-store ads for the new Annie For Target line of kids' clothing line, calling the company "utterly disrespectful" in a petition created on Change.org. The controversy occurred after Target customers began noticing that the campaign features white models, despite the fact that the newly released version of Annie stars African-American actress Quevenzhané Wallis, who also attended the brand's launch. Read: Check out the review round-up for Annie! A petition was subsequently created asking for Target to apologize to Wallis in addition to requesting that they remove...

From the Macra to The Mysterious Planet, Andrew finds the gold in oft-unloved Doctor Who episodes from across the decades...
For the show's fiftieth anniversary, Doctor Who Magazine ran a new poll ranking the 241 stories up to and including The Time Of The Doctor. The Twin Dilemma came last again, having done so in 2009 survey, and though it does have many faults, it isn't completely bad. Colin Baker blazes his way haughtily through it, and the story noticeably lacks energy when he's off screen. Perhaps it might have been marginally better just to have had the Sixth Doctor and Peri go to a Little Chef so he could complain about the service.
In the lower half of the poll (compiled by people rating all the stories out of ten) are some pretty good stories, or at least ones that arguably don't deserve to be there. We've therefore compiled a list...

Andrew counts down Doctor Who's 10 best Cyberman stories from across the TV series, audio dramas and comic strips...
Cybermen; Doctor Who's other monster. The one no-one knows quite what to do with, who show glimpses of what they can do, but don't look like dislodging the upper echelon from its perch.
They're Arsenal, basically. What is Nightmare in Silver if not Mehmet Ozil? A big name attached with lots excitement generated, and sure there are some clever ideas, but ultimately it's not what was necessary. I'd apologise to Arsenal fans but what are they going to do? Throw a trophy at me?
Like the Cybermen presumably do between their on-screen appearances, the writers will be heading back to the drawing board to discuss what they've learned. Meanwhile, here's our list of the top ten Cybermen stories across the entirety of Doctor Who.

Doctor Who: The Spear of Destiny
I hope it isn’t oversharing to say that I read this book sitting in bed with a cup of tea and a plate of biscuits, on a Saturday morning, warm and cosy, while the snow fell heavily outside and my local radio station played Duran Duran. No, I’m not 10 years old and it isn’t the early 1980s, but reading this book transported me back to my childhood.
The Spear of Destiny is a short Doctor Who story featuring the third Doctor, as portrayed on TV by Jon Pertwee, and his assistant Jo Grant, played by Katy Manning.
It is part of a series of 11 books, one for each Doctor, to celebrate the TV show’s 50th anniversary. And it’s a good one.

Review Andrew Blair Feb 14, 2013
Based on the unaired Douglas Adams Doctor Who 1979 serial, Gareth Roberts' novelisation of Shada is a brisk, entertaining read...
Shada is a challenge for a writer. Firstly, it's based on a Douglas Adams script, rush written in 1979 (the show's production was never finished due to industrial action), that its author was not hugely enamoured of anyway. Those aspects Adams did like he used in other stories, most notably in the first Dirk Gently novel. Footage from Shada was used to represent the Fourth Doctor and Romana in The Five Doctors (Tom Baker having declined a return to the role), and what was shot was released on VHS in 1992 with linking narration by Tom Baker.
