Featured review
Standard "Holiday in the Heimat" comedy, in its genre not badly done (but not well either) and mildly amusing; at least it does not suffer from too much traditional costume and irrational resentment; a Heimatfilm as escapism (from the German 50's Wirtschaftswunder) rather than a plea for traditionalism. Regular Heimatfilm actress Marianne Hold - of whom I am never too kind - is quite acceptable here as she shows the viewer an independent woman, and certainly is very attractive in this film. Added feature (at least for my taste) is Angelika Meissner, who sings a couple of songs with a dubbed voice. Gerhard Riedmann plays a tenor, but take it from me that his singing voice was also dubbed. The most curious part is played by Hans Nielsen (a fine actor), who has nothing else to do than just to be there.
