If you're a fan of Dexter, then you might just enjoy this film about a counsellor who takes it upon himself to dish out retribution and justice as he sees fit.
It's not a bad watch, it's very graphic and brutal, but despite the shocking scenes it's just a little bit lifeless at times, almost dull, I'd put that down to some of the characters, who at times feel a little flat.
Seann William Scott does a fine job as Evan, he's very strong, if totally dead pan.
I wouldn't want to sit through it again, but it filled a gap, 6/10.

I love Seann William Scott. I also love serial killer movies. So I was surprised I hadn't heard of this movie prior to stumbling across it on IMBD. The musical score and movie style seemed a touch of camp to me, but that may have been intentional. Being a horror flick buff my whole life, campiness has not always a bad thing. Evil Dead is a gift of cinematic gold. With this in mind, and what I found to be a very pleasantly unexpected ending, I have to admit I quite enjoyed it.
Sean william scott put on a good showing of a dexter like killer. Emotionless at times, cold at others. Movie wont be winning any awards any time soon.but all in all it was a good movie and worth a look if you're into killers in a more realistic way. Gory as well!
When I saw the Blumhouse logo I knew it would be worth watching. I wasn't disappointed.

Bloodline is a Dexter-like movie, about a psychopath killing people that he thinks deserve it by their previous bad actions. It's not of the same quality as the series Dexter, but that's difficult as that show had it all, suspense, twists and great characters. Bloodline has some suspense though, and that's a positive thing in this story. The acting wasn't bad either, and there's a twist to it. For a movie about a serial killer it's not a bad one.

The film kept me wondering what's going to happen in the long run.
Seeing everything pan out slowly added to the suspense, I did enjoy the film, but this is a one time watcher.
I was 50/50 on watching this but it recently just came onto Netflix so i decided to give it a go and i was pretty surprised by Sean Williams Scott's performance betraying a serial killer very dexter like in the way he chooses his victims and some little twists and turns along the way but i think it lacks that spark i wanted to see more kills dont get me wrong it was pretty graphic but it could of been more within the kill was very basic for a serial killer or maybe im wrong but other than that its a decent watch if you have seen everything on your netflix to do list

Not in the mood for detail so some bullet points:
1. Sean William Scott is not acting in this film yet people say he gives an amazing performance! He...does...nothing! 2. The story and characters lack depth 3. The film hides behind decent cinematography, lighting and its soundtrack. Very much style over substance. Teeth was similar but had a great story and characters so it worked. It Follows was also like this...weird but backed by great story and interesting characters. Bloodlines just has the style...the fancy shots... 4. Gore is just there for the perverse...the story and characters do not give weight to any scenario...so the gore and the nudity just feel like they were the main focus to carry the film. Add some spectacle! 5. The wife's decision at the end of the movie is just plain stupid
The reviews fascinated me more than the movie did. I guess this is why there are now so many vacuous movies out there. As the world becomes dumber so does the entertainment. If you want to see a movie like this that is worth your time please do check out American Psycho with Christian Bale...the plot and the characters are relatable and the story can teach you a few things about the human condition.

Incredible experience of madness, cinematography and a captivating performance from Sean William Scott! Interesting how others reference Dexter, I guess I can see the similarities. The soundtrack is so damn good I absolutely love when horror has a dope tune to go with it! Very vibrant colors that go quite well with the scenery which is rare for a lot of movies. Nice mix of a loving family and menacing vibes along with some unfortunate cruelty.

I always think copy n paste is not a problem. Even this movie is just like one of best tv drama ever - Dexter, but it got its own good. The bloody scene is a big plus given it's a horror, real horror. The actor behavior is explained clearly by his childhood encounter which audiences are convinced. Only little bit is not convincing is the job of the killer is a counselor. His look is too gang member kind or rough man but not look as soft as be a counselor in high school. If I'm a student with problem, I will cry out when seeing this type of counselor. Only this part I not buy.
I mean we all want to see Seann William Scott thrive in a dramatic role but honestly this is not his fault because he does a pretty good job but, wow, the writers were sleeping on this one. I'm not sure how this movie has three writers credited unless the collaborations between them were just trashing each others ideas to the point where nearly any kind of actual conflict is taken out of the script and we end up with a nice looking skeleton of a movie that does not satisfy the genre in the slightest. It has its moments (primarily the gore) but there is just not enough of it and what is there tends to just repeat, like all the inbetween scenes just repeat and repeat and repeat until we are not sure why we are watching this mopy couple and their mother slog around this house for an hour and change unfrequented by some minimal detective stuff and some family drama and helping out troubled youth the stupidest way possible. Not sure what happened, it could have been decent if Jason Blum did more than just put his name on this: I mean we watch Blumhouse movies for a reason and that is because Blum usually has a pretty good eye what will look good produced. I wanted to like it and the cinematography, music, editing, locations, and even the acting was good, but, as I've already stated, the writers really didn't put enough together to make a decent plot of a movie out of.
A very dark and disturbing one . Everyone has a bloodlust that they don't know ; it's in our instinct . Sometimes this bloodlust can be the only way to release tension and frustration.

Deliciously dark, one corker of an "I didn't see that coming". Didn't need to biggest amount of concentration to watch which is always a positive.

I really wasn't expecting a movie this disturbing. I had to turn away from some scenes. Overall the acting and story was good and there were some interesting twists and turns along the way. Not very predictable.

Sean William Scott desperately struggles to avoid being pegged as 'the funny guy' by dressing up in a dark edgy coat, darkly and edgily murdering people, and not smiling. He's not acting either, but that doesn't seem to matter to many people nowadays so long as the expression of someone is inscrutable.
This is a direct Dexter rip off to a ridiculous degree. He's a father and councilor instead of a forensic investigator but the method of killing is roughly the same (torture and murder of a tied up victim) and his victims are all sketched so broadly as deserving of death their slaughter is not emotionally investing at all.
It would be one thing if, like Dexter, Evan here had to contend with avoiding being caught or maybe had some form of guilt about how his lifestyle would affect his loved ones.
Luckily that drama is replaced by nice camerawork, bold colors, a thumbing synth score and some admittedly top notch gore effects.
There is zero suspense here. Every problem is solved by violence. Nobody ever shows regret or the chance of change. It's not quite nihilistic though: luckily the writers/director are so self-righteous they can tell you flat out who deserves to die horribly. You're a racist? A junkie? Rude? You should die and nobody will ever care.
How very 'contemporary' but also childish and not the least compelling.
The twist is ludicrous, telegraphed, and predictable.
Hitchcock already knew that when you make a 'story' about a bad guy that bad guy has to either be in trouble, danger, or conflicted. Doing none of these things leads to even the splatter becoming stale.
Wow. What a performance from him! He's just amazing in this from start to finish. The plot isn't bad. The acting over all isn't bad. Nice twist at the end. Creepy enough and moves enough to keep you interested. Yes quite brutal in places really. But it all follows and makes sense. Very enjoyable. Hope to see more from him in roles like this.

Bloodline contains some scenes which, even as a hardened horror fan, are somewhat shocking. If you've seen Maniac (2012), then be prepared for another mainstream actor to surprise you with his dark choice of movie.
Seann William "Stiffmeister" Scott plays a cold and brooding father whose recently new born baby, and the reptitive sleepless nights, awakens his need to kill. But how long can his nocturnal activities go un-noticed by his family ... ?
The movie has strong performances throughout and a twist or two to spice up a simple plot. An exceedingly dry undercurrent of dark humour complements the violent kill sequences, not entirely unlike TV's Dexter, but never interferes with the edgy mood in this slick, dark gem.
I saw the NC-17 version at FrightFest and have heard that this version is not the one going to be screened in US theatres.

I am slightly biased as I like all of Seann William Scott movies but this is so because he can act and his characters are enjoyable. This story did start off a little slow as they developed characters and motivation but around 30 mins in the movie was moving along well. A slight twist at end and it brought a smile to my face. It was a OK story that I enjoyed watching and I was happy just to see Seann on the screen.

I regret watching this film, what a boring movie!
I do not feel a trauma from Evan, except he only vented his childhood revenge by becoming an anti-hero, in order to defend children who are victims of violence in his family, or his hatred of people he considers unfair.
Really a film that is not able to build a story properly, everything feels rushed and rigid. I suggest you don't be interested in reviews that say this film is good, I swear, this film is too ugly to get a compliment.
Is too far from being called a suspense film, a forced plot twist, to torture treatment that is too stale to be labeled as a horror film, really I regret my time is wasted for watching this sucks movie.
My personal score is 1.5 out of 5

Stiffer did a solid job on this horror/ thriller with some twist that will see coming a mile away. This just lacked motivation from the killer that made this an okay film.
I was left a little underwhelmed after seeing a decent rating and intriguing trailer. Literally all I could think of while watching the movie was Dexter, Dexter, Dexter. I did like the production as in the film shots and music within the movie. Overall solid.
