Regarding the Statute of Limitations, prosecutor Seo mentions real life cases of South Korean murders affected by this: "The Frog Boys" (Gaegurisonyeon) is the murder of 5 boys who disappeared in 1991 and their remains were found in 2002, the statute of limitations expired on 2006 and the case remains unsolved as 2018. The "Daegu Child Sulphuric Acid Terror" is the case of 6 year old Kim Tae-wan, who was attacked by an unknown man with sulfuric acid in 1999 and died 49 days later. Statute of Limitations expired in 2014. In 2015, South Korea passed the "Statue of Limitations for Murder Revocation Law", also known as "Taewan Law", abolishing the Statute of Limitations regarding homicides. "Taewan Law" was passed 1 year after "Gap Dong" was broadcasted.
