It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Over 30 films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.
There are a couple of different ways to watch the Marvel movies in order, but below we run down how to watch the MCU in chronological and release date order. Indeed, some films like “Captain Marvel” and “Captain America: The First Avenger” are full-on prequels...

Holy spoilers, Batman! This article discusses major events from the season finale of "The Penguin."
The flood waters have receded, the dust has settled, and Oswald Cobb's power-hungry Penguin is now exactly where we thought he'd be following his final scene in "The Batman" — left with nothing standing in his way for control of the city's criminal underworld. The eight-episode run of HBO's "The Penguin" lived up to its billing as "The Sopranos" in Gotham, adding all sorts of complexity and deeper layers to the one-dimensional, yet always entertaining mobster played by Colin Farrell in director Matt Reeves' 2022 blockbuster. Viewers who tuned into the spinoff series have been given a satisfying character study, detailing how an overambitious mama's boy turned into an insecure man hellbent on proving everyone wrong throughout his murderous rise to power. But for those who'll only ever end up watching the original movie and its planned...

After debuting it for D23 Brazil attendees, Marvel has released wide a new trailer for Thunderbolts*, the team-up movie that will continue the character arcs for Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes and John Walker, which were last visited in assorted Disney+ TV series.

It has already been a great year for Sebastian Stan thanks to his acclaimed performances in “A Different Man” and “The Apprentice” and the awards buzz and recognition that has come with each film. But the party won’t stop in 2025, even if Stan doesn’t land among the Best Actor nominees.
In May, Stan returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier in Marvel’s “Thunderbolts.”
On Saturday, during Disney’s first-ever D23 fan convention in Brazil, a new extended trailer for “Thunderbolts” made its debut, highlighting Stan’s effortless and brutal efficiency as Barnes as well as the project’s comedic tone.
“Thunderbolts” is Marvel’s answer to “The Suicide Squad” or an evolution off “Guardians of the Galaxy.” The film unites several Marvel antagonists, including Stan’s Barnes, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, David Harbour’s Red Guardian (“Black Widow...

Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and the rest of the “Thunderbolts*” stars are kicking even more ass in a special look at Marvel’s upcoming film.
The extended trailer debuted at the first-ever Brazil D23 fan event on Saturday. David Harbour, who plays Red Guardian in the film, was there to present the trailer to the audience.
The Thunderbolts are essentially the answer to DC’s Suicide Squad — both are teams of villains and antiheroes forced to undergo dangerous missions for the good of mankind. In addition to Pugh, who reprises her “Black Widow” role of Yelena Belova, the cast includes Harbour, Stan as the Winter Soldier, Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster from “Black Widow”), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost from “Ant-Man and the Wasp”), Wyatt Russell (John Walker from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (as mastermind Valentina Allegra de Fontaine). “Top Gun: Maverick” star Lewis Pullman plays a mysterious character named Bob.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania: Earned A Meager Profit Despite Being A Box Office Dud ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Ant-Man 3, also known as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was released in the theatres last February. It featured Paul Rudd in the lead role, reprising Scott Lang’s character, aka the Ant-Man. It was the first movie in Phase Five and marked the entry of Kang the Conqueror [played by Jonathan Majors]. It was reportedly a box office disappointment, but the latest report suggests it did make a profit despite failing to earn even the break-even amount. Scroll below for the deets.
Majors made his MCU feature debut with this movie. It was planned to set Majors as the next big baddie in the MCU after Thanos, but Jonathan was arrested around a month after the film’s release. The guilty verdict let Disney fire the Kang actor and steer their future projects away from Kang.

Ant-Man and the Wasp was the first movie in the MCU’s phase 5 and was supposed to kick off exciting things, especially introducing Kang the Conqueror, Marvel’s next big villain. However, the movie was a big disappointment in terms of both the story and its profits.
The drama surrounding Jonathan Majors didn’t help either. Recent industry reports suggest that Kang would be replaced because of the poor reception, even if the actor hadn’t faced any legal issues.
The first reported numbers for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania show that it earned $476.1 million worldwide. This includes $214.5 million from the United States and Canada and $261.6 million from other countries.
Although the movie had a strong opening weekend, making $120.4 million over four days, it did not break even, which was estimated to be around $600 million. The production budget was $388.4 million.
In its second weekend, the earnings dropped significantly to only $32 million,...

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ was the first movie of MCU’s phase 5 and was bound to kickstart great things, primarily Kang the Conqueror, Marvel’s next big cinematic villain. The movie turned out to be a great disappointment both when it comes to advancing the MCU story and when it comes to profits.
The subsequent drama with Jonathan Majors certainly did not help. The recent industry reports claim however that Kang would be replaced due to poor reception even if the actor didn’t get himself into legal trouble.
The first reported numbers for the movie were clear. ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ earned a total of $476.1 million worldwide. This includes $214.5 million from the United States and Canada and $261.6 million from other countries.
Although it had a big opening weekend, making $120.4 million over four days, it fell short of breaking even, which was estimated at $600 million. The movie had a production budget of $388.4 million.

Sony Pictures billed “Venom: The Last Dance” as the final chapter in Tom Hardy’s alien-symbiote-buddy-comedy franchise. But with its $51 million domestic opening weekend — 44% and 55% lower than the previous two installments — the movie also signifies the continued twilight of superhero cinema as the dominant force at the box office.
Superhero movies used to be an indispensable revenue driver for the film industry. In 2018 and 2019, the average global gross for superhero fare was more than $1 billion. This year, it’s half that, even with the record-breaking success of “Deadpool & Wolverine.” In fact, the Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman vehicle is the only comic book movie that could qualify as a hit since “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” debuted in June 2023. Since then, the genre has suffered an extraordinary box office drought. Film after film, from “The Flash” to “The Marvels” to “Madame Web,” opened to, at best, a shrug — and, at worst,...

Several prominent figures in the entertainment industry have connections to Scientology. Many well-known actors and celebrities are members of the religious organization. Founded in the 1950s by sci-fi author L. Ron Hubbard, the religion has always inspired intrigue and skepticism in people. As per the church’s official website, Scientology addresses the spirit. The church has maintained a significant presence in Hollywood through its Celebrity Centres.
A lot of controversy and allegations surround the celebrities who align themselves with the faith, leading to many not being open about their association with the church.
However, some have no qualms in revealing themselves as Scientology parishioners. They have even tried to proselytize people by using their popularity. Here’s a list of celebrities who have been open about their links with Scientology.

Marvel Studios, known for its reluctance to officially cancel shows, opting instead for the ‘limited series’ tag, appears to have made a rare move. A beloved series praised for its engaging storytelling and critical acclaim, confirmed through storyboard artist Gabi Rode’s comments, is facing an early conclusion.
Despite the series boasting a pristine 100% Rotten Tomatoes critic score, it will not see a third season. The series in question? ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.’
The news broke via X/Twitter with insights from user @owlphibia and was given further credence by Rode, who lamented the long-standing knowledge of the show’s fate among Disney staff. He revealed that the production area had been deserted for more than a year, indicating a decision long made but only now coming to light.
What sucks is that a bunch of us at Disney knew about this for so long but couldn’t outright say it.

Barbarian director Zach Cregger's next project as part of his current deal with New Line Cinema is Weapons, which is now in production and is set to hit theaters in early 2026. However, it seems the highly in-demand filmmaker is also being courted by Sony Pictures.

The last Resident Evil feature was Johannes Roberts' Welcome to Racoon City starring Kaya Scodelario (Crawl) as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, and Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield. It was not well-received by fans or critics.

Marvel Studios' upcoming superhero flick "Thunderbolts*" is slated to be the 36th feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will assemble six ancillary characters culled from previous MCU movies and TV shows, making them into a ragtag fighting force. On the team are the Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and Taskmaster from "Black Widow," the Winter Soldier and U.S. Agent (Sebastian Stan and Wyatt Russell) from "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) from "Ant-Man and the Wasp." These characters previously served as low-level villains or antagonists, but are now redeeming themselves as hunted antiheroes.
The first full trailer for "Thunderbolts*" was released on September 23, 2024, and it displays the requisite action that the genre demands, as well as the notable character reveals that the MCU is known for. It's the start of a new week, and clearly Hollywood studios woke up and decided it must start with a bang. We've got a trailer party on our hands, people!
After going through something of an existential crisis over the past couple of years, Marvel Studios is finally getting its footing back under it. This year only held one Marvel movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, and it was a smash success. On the television front, Agatha All Along is now playing on Disney+, which is the only live-action Marvel show to drop on the platform since Echo premiered back in January. Marvel is going for quality over quantity now, after a while of doing the latter.
And now we have our first look at another of the studio's upcoming movies: Thunderbolts*. We've known this film was coming for a while, but the asterisk in the title only made its debut this morning.

When the pilot of "Lost" aired on ABC in September of 2004, it became an instant hit for the network and catapulted its sprawling cast to stardom in the process. Created by J.J. Abrams alongside Jeffrey Lieber and Damon Lindelof — the last of whom would eventually become a co-showrunner with Carlton Cuse — "Lost" begins in the immediate aftermath of a massive plane crash on a deserted island, but things quickly get very, very complicated. When Oceanic flight 815 crashes on that island while traveling from Sydney to Los Angeles, the audience is introduced to the survivors ... and throughout the first season, they all get a closer look through flashbacks set before they ever boarded the doomed flight.
I should say this up-front: the cast of "Lost" is huge, so not every single important character will get a spotlight here. As far as the core cast is concerned,...

A Cal/Osha investigation determined that the wooden catwalk which 41-year-old lighting technician J.C. “Spike” Osorio fell from was “deteriorated” and gave way “suddenly and without warning.”
The fatal accident occurred on Feb. 6 at Stage 3 at the Radford Studio Center in Studio City.
“The deteriorated ledger was weakened likely due to age, environmental conditions and repeated stress loads over many decades,” according to a statement issued by the agency, which levied two penalties of $18,000 each against Marvel parent company Disney.
They concluded that Osorio was standing on the weakened section of the catwalk, when “suddenly and without warning, the ledger supporting the floorboard broke apart and collapsed…. The employee fell 41 feet and forcefully impacted the ground below.”
Cal/Osha also issued two $22,5000 citations to the nearly 100-year-old Radford Studio Center.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is all set to step into a new era thanks to the return of Robert Downey Jr. who will now be playing the fan-favorite villain, Doctor Doom, in the superhero world. While we are quite excited to see how Kevin Feige will pull it off, there are a couple of questions at the back of our minds that are still bothering us, especially regarding Jonathan Majors’ Kang and Eternals.

Both storylines ended on cliffhangers, giving fans hope that they would return to the MCU to give themselves the conclusions they deserve. However, with Jonathan Majors’ firing and the disappointing updates about Eternals’ future, we are not sure if Kevin Feige even plans on addressing these plots in the future.

Love it or hate it, Rotten Tomatoes is now more important than ever when it comes to whether moviegoers decide to check out the latest releases in theaters, and it's not uncommon for studios to tout scores as proudly as star ratings.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has delivered hit after hit since Iron Man was released in 2008, though the Multiverse Saga has proven it's not immune from the wrath of critics.
After delivering its first Rotten movie in 2021, Marvel Studios had a so-so 2022 before a 2023 we're betting Kevin Feige and company would rather forget (particularly at the box office). Thanks to last year's strikes, 2024 will see the release of only one movie: the R-Rated Deadpool & Wolverine.
It's broken box office records and, with it now added to this list, looking back at how these movies fared on the review aggregator makes for interesting reading, particularly when they're stacked up against each other.

Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” is set to hit between $438-$440 million globally this weekend. The opening also puts the film in eighth place on the highest domestic opening list.
This weekend, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman brought the boom with the third “Deadpool” film. The film is expected to bring in around $205 million at the domestic box office. This puts the film in eighth place above “Black Panther” ($202 million) and behind “The Avengers” ($207 million.) The highest film spot is for “Avengers: End Game” at $357 million.
Internationally, the film hit about $233 million.
It’s not bad for an R-rated film. Traditionally, these films don’t perform as well because the audience is more limited, but “Deadpool & Wolverine” is slashing its way through and winning big at the box office.
Estimates.
Initial estimates for the domestic box office were around $160-$170 million; even higher estimates were at $190 million to maybe $200 million.

Marvel’s newest super-team, the Thunderbolts, made their San Diego Comic-Con debut on Saturday via first-look footage — and a relatively tight-lipped cast — during the MCU panel.
The entire cast joined the Hall H stage with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, including David Harbour in costume as Red Guardian. But his colleagues didn’t get the memo. “Oh my god, you guys didn’t dress up?,” Harbour exclaimed. “Guys! Guys! I sent that email! We all said we were going to dress up because it was Comic-Con!” Harbour quickly left to change.
While info about the movie was kept to a minimum, some select nuggets included:
*Feige’s revelation that the group’s moniker isn’t related to Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, saying that sometimes comic book writers just use the same names.
*Of her character, Julia Louis-Dreyfus said, “Valentina is after power, control and, I would say, just generally she wants...

Peyton Reed's 2018 film "Ant-Man and the Wasp" was released in the wake of "Avengers: Infinity War," one of the major team-up movies that occasionally punctuates the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "Wasp" served, some have said, as a palate cleanser after the major, widely-seen event film, trying to keep the McU's mood light. This ethos was also employed with Reed's original "Ant-Man" from 2015, which followed "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
"Wasp" took place concurrently with the events of "Infinity War" and was a brisk, comedic heist movie featuring a very human villain played by Walton Goggins. Ant-Man, aka Scott Lang, (Paul Rudd) was under house arrest, which explains why he wasn't present for the big Thanos fight in "Infinity War." The Wasp, aka Hope van Dyne (née Pym), (Evangeline Lilly) and her father Hank (Michael Douglas) have, meanwhile, built a massive, high-tech shrinking tunnel which will serve as an entrance to the Quantum Realm,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always had a bit of a boys' club vibe. The first official phase of the franchise that built up to "The Avengers" was spearheaded by Tony Stark's hard-partying ladies' man Tony Stark, while the most significant female members of the MCU to date have always been written as, at best, eye-rolling foils forced to acknowledge that most of their male colleagues are overgrown children who come through in the clutch when resolving a crisis that is partially of their own making.
This isn't much of a departure from the almost exclusively male-drawn and -written comic books of the 1960s-1980s that inspired the mostly male-directed MCU films. Aside from a boy scout like Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) or a cerebral conjuror like Doctor Strange, these guys have a good time off the clock. In a way, they have a kind of frat boy mentality.

Kevin R. Wright’s MCU timeline has come to a close. The Loki executive producer and now-former VP of production and development at Marvel Studios has exited his position to produce original film and TV projects, independently. Wright was one of the central creative figures behind the Tom Hiddleston-led Loki, which is widely considered to be the crown jewel of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ slate. On top of six Emmy nominations, the time-bending sci-fi series is the first-and-only MCU live-action series to receive a second season thus far.
In 2018, when Disney CEO Bob Iger pivoted to streaming with Disney+, he asked his most successful studio, led by Kevin Feige, to expand its shared universe into television. So Wright took the initiative with regard to a potential series about the God of Mischief, crafting a 30-page pitch that included many of the future show’s foundational elements, including the Time Variance Authority.

Even if "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania" is arguably the lowest point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and marked the beginning of what seems to be the end of its dominance in pop culture and box office, there is no denying that the first two "Ant-Man" movies are fantastic. They serve important roles in balancing out rather bleak and dense chapters in the Infinity Saga with some light fun that also grounds the universe and shows how regular people live outside of the big world-ending events.
A big part of the fun is Scott Lang's group of friends turned co-workers in his X-Con Security crew, which includes David Dastmalchian's Kurt — who delivers the best bit in either of the two movies. The bit begins when the crew hears about the second film ("Ant-Man and The Wasp")'s villain, Ghost, who has the ability to turn invisible. Kurt wastes...

Chris Pratt paid tribute to his late stunt double Tony McFarr in a heartfelt message on social media in which Pratt remembered their time on several movie sets together. McFarr was Pratt’s stunt double on some of the actor’s biggest films, including the “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World” franchises. McFarr died May 13 at the age of 47.
“Devastated to hear about the loss of my friend and former stunt double Tony McFarr,” Pratt wrote. “We did several movies together. We golfed, drank whiskey, smoked cigars, and spent endless hours on set. I’ll never forget his toughness. I remember he took a nasty shot to the head (in the title sequence of ‘Guardians 2’) and got several staples in his head came right back to work ready to go again. He was an absolute stud.”
“He was always a gentleman and professional,” Pratt added. “He’ll be missed.

At this point, everyone knows that MCU has hit sort of a rough patch, with 2023 being disastrous for Marvel Studios and Disney finding itself on the infamous list of the biggest box-office losers.

By now, it’s widely acknowledged that the MCU has encountered a challenging period, notably with the dismal performance of Marvel Studios in 2023, leading Disney to feature on the list of major box-office flops.
Consequently, Iger disclosed plans for a substantial reduction in output, with a shift towards producing only 2-3 movies annually along with two shows.

Abigail is the third vampire movie from the Universal Monsters brand in the past year, the film scaring up $34.7 million at the worldwide box office these past few weeks. That gives it a higher worldwide gross than both The Last Voyage of the Demeter ($21.7 million) and Renfield ($26.4 million), and it’s also the most critically successful of the three vampire movies.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her positive review here on Bloody Disgusting, “Radio Silence’s ballerina vampire movie is a bloody blast.” Her review continued, “It’s savagely inventive in terms of its vampiric gore, offering a thrill ride with sharp,...

While Steven Spielberg might hail superhero movies as Oscar-worthy, the likes of Martin Scorsese and Anthony Hopkins have gone on to criticize Marvel and DC flicks and even deemed them not cinema-worthy. Although each actor has a right to have their own opinions regarding different genres of cinema, fans have disliked how big names in Hollywood have time and again belittled superhero flicks and the actors who work in them.

Over the years, fans have waged war against such opinions, and comic book actors have defended such movies. And now, even Walton Goggins has joined them after Ray Winstone recently called out the excessive use of green screens in superhero flicks.

2023 may yet be remembered as the year the superhero movie died. Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" was released in February 2023 and was the first notable comic book-based bomb of the year. The film was notoriously re-jiggered throughout its production, with massive and expensive SFX being finalized up to the last minute. The official budget ballooned to $200 million, although separate reports have pegged the price tag as being closer to that of Disney's notorious box office misfire "John Carter" (which cost $263 million to make). "Quantumania" still grossed $464 million, but that's considered low for a Marvel movie.
Throughout 2023, more bombs dropped as superhero movies either lost money or were considered disappointments. "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," "The Flash," "Blue Beetle," "The Marvels," and "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" all tanked, and while many went to see "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3," it felt like the last kick in a closing series.

Michael Douglas wanted to have a “serious” death scene in 2023’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and requested his character be killed off.
As the actor promoted his Apple TV+ series Franklin, Douglas opened up about the Marvel film in which he played Dr. Hank Pym. Ahead of the third film in the Ant-Man saga, the actor said he asked for his character to die.
“This actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas said on The View. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects.”
He continued, “But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up.”
