Unlike The Job, which I could only barely forgive with The Authority, The Signature, and The Choices after The Hero barely tried to remedy the issue, The The Void was self-aware in a good way. It was a cool story about Gumball and Darwin trying to rescue a forgotten friend from the first season, and Mr. Small had a surprisingly good role in this episode with them. It also leads to an arc with another forgotten background character starting with The Nemesis.
