Hungarian Folk Tales was made by the time when hungary was an socialist country.
So the Kecskemét film studio needed a concept, but they could not afford a new cartoon storyboard. Then in Marcell Jankovics's mind came up an amazing idea: What if we made a cartoon about Hungarian Folk Tales? And the idea was a big succes in Hungary.
The cartoon itself features a lot of Hungarian symbol. The intro itself is a reference for the Hungarikum logo (i think), and its looks really nice. The cartoon has only 100 episodes, because Kecskemét film studio wanted to end the series with a nice number. It is still watchable by now, even for kids. But the english translate is not as enjoyable, as the Hungarian one, but its alright.
