Seasoned actor Rajesh Khattar, who plays Vardhan Roy, a paraplegic character in the web series ‘Karm Yuddh’, spoke about the challenges he faced while portraying a specially abled personality on screen.
He said: “It becomes quite challenging to play a specially-abled character as we actors normally use our bodies as tools to enact. Small movements like a hand gesture, style of walk, or even a shoulder shrug, convey a lot about what the character is going through, but when you are stripped of all these, then all you are left with is the face.”
Directed by Ravi Adhikari, the series stars Satish Kaushik, Rajesh Khattar, Ashutosh Rana, Paoli Dam, Ankit Bisht, Pranay Pachauri, Soundarya Sharma, Chandan Sanyal, and others.
“In Vardhaan’s case, he could not even use his face, so all I was left with was the eyes to express. The entire gamut of emotions he was going through...

Guilty Minds(Amazon Prime Video; 10 Episodes)
Created & Directed by Shefali Bhushan; Co-directed by Jayant Digambar Samalkar
It is not as if this series blows your mind off with its legal wisdom. Nor is it only about getting the courtroom sequences right. Both in place, Guilty Minds sets out to score points for being able to hijack our attention for ten episodes. Not all of it is equally engrossing. But the storytelling even when faltering and fumbling to cram in too many social issues(including an utterly unnecessary child-abuse end-game) never ceases to be compelling.
Primarily, Guilty Minds works because it doesn’t try to penetrate too far into the minds of the perpetrators. It is all done on the surface level, but with immense care and concentration, so that an impression of focused narration and uninterrupted tension is created even when the plot meanders into the characters’ personal lives which...

OTTThough the series takes its time to hook the viewer, it makes for an engaging and realistic courtroom drama that doesn’t fall back on cliches.Sowmya RajendranGuilty Minds, created and directed by Shefali Bhushan with Jayant Digambar Samalkar as co-director, is centered on a principled woman lawyer in Delhi, Kashaf Quaze (Shriya Pilgaonkar), intertwining her personal and professional experiences. Given the stereotypical representations of Muslim characters, particularly Muslim women, on screen, Kashaf comes across as a breath of fresh air. She’s neither a terrorist in training nor an oppressed woman looking to be ‘liberated’ from her burqa. Just the ordinariness of her character is startling when it shouldn’t be. The first season of the web series, spread over 10 episodes of around 50 minutes each, tracks Kashaf’s cases that range from a woman actor who makes a #MeToo allegation against a supposedly feminist director to a security officer...

Sidharth Malhotra, the star of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video Original Shershaah, has revealed that the inspiration for taking on the role as the heroic Captain Vikram Batra came from a meeting with Vikram’s real-life twin brother, Vishal Batra, five years ago.
Shershaah, an original war drama on the true-life events of the Kargil War between India and Pakistan in 1999, tells the story of Captain Vikram Batra, a celebrated Indian army hero who selflessly lost his life whilst saving a fellow soldier during a war which would etch itself into Indian history. At just 24, Vikram became a symbol of the patriotism and heroism associated with India’s triumph against the odds against the Pakistani army who took up a far more advantageous position at higher ground and were able to fire down at vulnerable Indian forces. Despite this, the Indian army were triumphant in claiming victory and Captain Vikram...

“Dad, I am gay.”
What if your son came and told you that one day? How would you react? Would you be able to look beyond your own ego into your child’s troubled world and embrace it, and him?
First-time director Rikhil Bahadur weaves together a tale in a spick-and-span upperclass household where homosexuality has no place. In fact when it shows up like an intruder the parents choose to call it a ‘phase’
If only….
Mihir (Pranay Pachauri, making a remarkable debut) troubled in his inability to be “normal” finds himself blurting out the truth about his sexual orientation at the dinner table.
(All major family confessions in our film are made while eating, unless you are Zoya Akhtar.)

Check out the new song ‘Bolenge’ from the film “Timeout” in the voice of Amit Mishra. The song is just an average from the album and Deepak Ramola’s lyrics also fails to impress.
Time Out is directed and written by Rikhil Bahadur and produced by Viacom 18. The film introduces three fresh faces – Chirag Malhotra, Pranay Pachauri and Kaamya Sharma. The synopsis of movie states, “Years of friendship, laughter and love shared between two brothers faces the music when a 14-year-old boy is confronted with the complexities of a simple relationship.”
