The Blazers were at the bottom of the Western Conference last season, and would love to start the 2024-25 campaign with a win over Golden State. You can watch the game in Northern California on NBC Sports Bay Area and on the Rip City Television Network in Portland. Billie Eilish — the massively influential music performer who’s consistently topped the Billboard charts and repeatedly won Grammys and Oscars — has signed, along with her brother and collaborator Finneas O’Connell, to WME, ending their relationship with Wasserman Music. “While grateful to their former live booking agents at Wasserman, Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell have opted to have film, TV and music handled by the same agency, WME, moving forward,” an Eilish spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter. (Eilish and O’Connell had been with WME for film and TV since January 2023.)
Neither WME nor Wasserman responded to requests for comment.
The move was first reported by Billboard and comes after the Daily Mail published an extensive Aug. 1 article about Wasserman owner Casey Wasserman’s alleged sexual misconduct during a period of years involving a series of women, mainly subordinates at his firm as well as others who worked for him, while still married.

LeBron James is taking less so his Los Angeles Lakers can do more.
The 20-time NBA All-Star reached agreement today to play on a contract below the maximum level he was eligible to sign for. The hope is the Lakers can avoid salary cap restrictions down the line, ESPN first reported.
James signed a two-year extension worth $101.35 million. He could have taken a $104 million max deal, according to the media outlet.
The Athletic reported the new contract also comes with a player option and a 15% trade kicker.
James reportedly wants the Lakers to acquire an “impact player,” according to his agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports. So far, that hasn’t happened, as the team swung and missed in its efforts to entice Klay Thompson or DeMar DeRozan in free agency.

Travis Kelce may have big plans beyond his football career, including starring in television shows and movies.
Recently, he commented on swirling rumors and fan theories that he’ll have a role in Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix.
The Adam Sandler sequel film was confirmed last month, with much excitement surrounding the project, including potential guest stars in the cast.
While the Kansas City Chiefs star was already successful on the football field with his statistical achievements and Super Bowl rings, he became more of a celebrity due to dating a particular singer.
Travis’s romance with Taylor Swift became highly publicized, not only because of headlines but also because she attended multiple games throughout the season, including the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers.

There is a snippet of “The Illiad, or The Poem of Force,” Simone Weil’s 1940 essay about the blind poet Homer’s Trojan War epic, that has always stuck with me: “The progress of the war in the Iliad is simply a continual game of seesaw. The victor of the moment feels himself invincible, even though, only a few hours before, he may have experienced defeat; he forgets to treat victory as a transitory thing.”

Hope you like fall/winter sports! We finally got some details on Max’s plan to stream live sports. Initial reports of the add-on package being free were correct — but for a limited time only.
The Max Live Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports tier will launch in the U.S. on October 5 and it will be free — for exactly 148 days. (It would be 147 if not for the coming leap year.)
The starting point is timed to give Max subscribers two days to download and install the add-on before Major League Baseball’s National League Division Series begins October 7. The NHL’s regular season begins three days later, and the NBA returns two weeks after that.
Come March 1, 2024, the sports add-on will cost $9.99 per month — just in time for live streams of the Men’s Division I NCAA Basketball Tournament, when March the lamb turns into March the lion. Yes, it’s Madness.

Skip Bayless has taken a jab at Charles Barkley after the former NBA star called the Fox Sports analyst an “idiot.” In return, the Undisputed co-host called Barkley a “clown.”
“Still chuckling over a clown calling me an idiot,” Bayless tweeted.
The tweet from Bayless after Barkley’s coverage of The Match earlier this week where Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson faced off Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in a golf competition. Barkley took a swing at Bayless in a nod to Shannon Sharpe leaving the FS1 show and getting a contract buyout from the sports network.
“He’s the best tight end, it’s between him and Gronk as the best ever. And I don’t want to leave out Shannon Sharpe,” Barkley said. “I want one of those jobs where I can get a buyout for working with an idiot.”
Barkley later joked, “What do you think Ernie?...

The latest installment features Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce facing off against Golden State Warriors stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

With the writers strike sowing doubt about long-term scripted entertainment, and the overall advertising market still in a downturn, Warner Bros. Discovery and other major media companies are now leaning into a form of entertainment that has proven to be resilient: Live sports.
And it is a particularly strong moment for sports at Wbd, which is fresh off the March Madness basketball tournament, at the beginning of the MLB season, and smack in the middle of the NBA and NHL playoffs.
“Our strategy in many ways is very different from other players, right? We’re not into tonnage, we’re really about picking and having the most premium sports out there,” says Luis Silberwasser, the chairman and CEO of Wbd Sports. “Whether it’s on TNT or TBS, or TruTV, it just it creates a cultural moment, right? So when these games are happening on primetime, people come to us.

Laura Harrier is officially engaged! On Sept. 20, the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" star announced that she and her partner, Sam Jarou, are set to marry after dating for almost three years. "Yeah. Exclusive: Rtg Features (Alaskan Nets) and Msm (The Last Dance) have tapped David Charles Rodrigues (Neymar: The Perfect Chao) to direct a new feature doc about the high-scoring NBA trio of Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin—collectively known as Run Tmc—and how they set the stage for the present-day dynasty of the world-champion Golden State Warriors, led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
Led by Hall of Fame coach Don Nelson, Run Tmc showcased “Nellie Ball” and ushered in the modern NBA. While the two brief seasons that Hardaway, Richmond and Mullin played together from 1989-1991 didn’t yield any championships, they birthed life-long friendships. Billed as “the most fun fun sports doc of all time”, the as-yet-untitled feature will be a three-man weave combining basketball, hip-hop, the Bay Area and late-’80s/early-’90s nostalgia.
Mason Gordon will produce for Msm, with Rtg Features acting as the studio.

Taking down the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals in the Massachusetts metropolis last night, the Golden State Warriors cemented their dynasty with their fourth championship in the past decade.
Now well ensconced in the pantheon of basketball, the big win for Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and their teammates, plus coach Steve Kerr may be all the sweeter after the past two seasons when it looked like the shine was off the Bay Area team. Celebrating with trophy in hand on the floor of the Td Garden in Boston on Thursday, the Warriors and New England born team bosses Peter Gruber and Joe Lacob were gleaming with pride and exhilaration.
Having weathered rough ratings seas over the past two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, ABC must be feeling pretty victorious, at least in the short term. They had the most watched show of Thursday’s primetime,...

Firmly establishing his legacy as one of the all time greats and shaking off the lingering asterisk that is Kevin Durant, Steph Curry led the Golden State Warriors to their 4th NBA championship since 2015, defeating the Boston Celtics on the Celtics’ home turf in a riveting game game 6 of the 2022 NBA finals.
The Warriors are the second team ever, after the Lakers, to win the NBA title by defeating Boston at home. With tonight’s win, the team now has 7 titles.
In the end, the Warriors won 103-90, denying Boston the chance to pull ahead in their decades-long rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers.
It’s the total reversal of a brutal few years for the Warriors, which dominated the 2010s with championship titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018, only to flame out in the 2019 finals against Toronto when Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson were sidelined by injury. The Golden State Warriors had a new player out on the court ahead of the team's March 8 game against the Los Angeles Clippers, and he was…Jackie Moon? Well, sort of. Will Ferrell dressed up as the character from his 2008 movie Semi-Pro and joined the Warriors for a warm-up at the Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif. Donning his Flint Tropics uniform, the actor practiced guarding Klay Thompson, shooting free throws (in Moon's underhand "granny style") with Stephen Curry and even sank the ball from half court at the Chase Center. So, how did the Warriors go about recruiting Moon, er, Ferrell? Coach Steve Kerr explained how it all came to be during a post-game press...

With the NBA still on the outs with China and Nike hit with Chinese backlash over Xinjiang, it might seem that “Space Jam: A New Legacy” has two serious fouls against its chances of entering the world’s largest film market.
But signs indicate that Beijing may uniquely embrace the “Space Jam” star LeBron James in a way that could actually give the film an assist, despite China’s ongoing spat with the league and James’ lifetime Nike deal.
The Malcolm D. Lee-directed film debuted in U.S. cinemas and on HBO Max on July 16. If it ever releases, it will hit China at least a month later, significantly depressing returns.
The NBA’s China troubles date back to 2019 when Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted in support of pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong, infuriating Beijing and leading state broadcaster CCTV to banish the league from its airwaves.

It took 25 years, but Space Jam is finally getting a sequel, while Escape Room gets a less long awaited sequel after just 2.5 years. Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 basketball classic that mixed NBA players with Looney Tunes icons. The film will release theatrically in the United States and on HBO Max on July 16.
