When Paramount+ canceled Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies after a single season last month, it seemed like new fans would never get a chance to watch the show.

At the time of the cancellation, it was revealed all episodes of the Grease prequel would be purged from Paramount+, a move that's becoming all too familiar to fans of canceled streaming series.

After fans and creatives hit out at the controversial decision, it seems the first -- and only -- season will continue to be found thanks to a digital release.

The series is now available to buy on the iTunes store and Amazon, and that's not all:

A DVD release has been confirmed for November 7, meaning you can own a physical copy of the show.

We're also getting over 30 minutes of special features as part of the DVD release, taking us further into the Grease-verse than before.

The creator of the Paramount+ series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies says she is “devastated” that the series is not only canceled but will be removed from the streaming service.

Earlier Friday, Paramount+ canceled several of its original series, including Pink Ladies as well as Star Trek: Prodigy, Queen of the Universe and The Game. The streamer is also taking the series off the platform as a content write-down.

Reacting to the news, creator Annabel Oakes wrote on her Instagram Stories: “In a particularly brutal move, it is also being removed from @paramountplus next and unless it finds a new home you will no longer be able to watch it anywhere. The cast, my creative partners, and I are all devastated at the complete erasure of our show.”

Oakes thanked the “beautiful fans” who have engaged with series and reminded them that “the music will remain even after the show is taken down.

Paramount+ has canceled a slew of its originals including Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy, Queen of the Universe and The Game and is taking the shows off its platform as it becomes the latest media company to take a content write-down.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies has been canceled after one season, Star Trek: Prodigy will not be going forth with its previously announced second season, The Game has been canceled after two seasons and Graham Norton-hosted reality series Queen of the Universe has been axed after two seasons.

All of these titles will be removed from Paramount+ with the studios planning to shop some of them to rival broadcasters and streamers.

The company will take a content impairment charge and is expected to reveal the financial impact at its next earnings.

Paramount+’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies episode eight opens with breaking news. Teenagers are out of control, what with their big hair, loose morals, and rock n roll music! And now the kids at Rydell want to play the devil’s music at their school dance. The horror!

Tippy St. Clair, the President of Rydell PTA, tells a local reporter that she strongly opposes this dance. However, the Pink Ladies believe change is necessary, while class president Buddy (Jason Schmidt) declines to be interviewed.

The reporter questions whether this could be the end of the world as we know it. As the episode concludes, fans may share those same concerns.

Paramount+’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies episode seven opens with Richie (Johnathan Nieves) striding through Frosty Palace, bruised face shocking Rydell students celebrating the play. He stops within inches of Buddy (Jason Schmidt) and it seems like we’re about to witness a fistfight. But, no. Instead, we’re treated to a flashback to yesterday – the day before the play.

The flashback kicks off with Shy Guy (Maximo Salas) working out at a gym, pummeling punching bags, before sliding away from that scene to show Gil (Nicholas McDonough) serving up sandwiches at a deli counter. Gil turns his mom down when she suggests he take a few dollars for himself. He’s a good son and wants to help her out. Aww, how sweet!

Episode six of Paramount+’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies finds Jane (Marisa Davila) not quite sure what to do after kissing Buddy. Buddy (Jason Schmidt), on the other hand, can’t stop thinking about that kiss.

Jane suggests they keep their relationship a secret for now and admits she’s confused. They have a lot to sort out, including her recent breakup with Richie. Buddy’s super supportive and agrees, even offering to help show her the ropes as class president.

Meanwhile, Cynthia (Ari Notartomaso) and Lydia (Niamh Wilson) are enjoying rehearsing Romeo and Juliet, in particular the kissing scene! Rehearsal is really just a ruse to kiss. Finally, they don’t even bother with the lines and just kiss. (We stan Cynthia and Lydia!

Netflix has given a series order to The Corps (the working title), based on Greg Cope White’s The Pink Marine memoir. Described as a comedic drama, the 10-episode season has Miles Heizer (13 Reasons Why), Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), Max Parker (Vampire Academy), and Liam Oh (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre’s The Notebook) on board in starring roles.

Andy Parker (Tales of the City) is writing and will executive produce and serve as showrunner. Television icon Norman Lear, Brent Miller, Rachel Davidson, and Scott Hornbacher are also executive producing, with Peter Hoar (The Last of Us) attached to direct and executive produce the first episode. Greg Cope White is writing and producing.

Another new series from Norman Lear is coming to Netflix, but this time around the King of Sitcoms is tackling drama. The streaming service has greenlit “The Corps,” the working title of a new comedy-drama starring Vera Farmiga, Miles Heizer, Max Parker and Liam Oh.

Set in the 1990s, the drama will follow Cameron (Heizer), a high school student who is bullied for being gay. He decides to join the Marine Corps along with his straight best friend Ray (Oh) during a time when being gay in the military could mean jail time. Rydell students are gathered for an assembly to learn what to do in the event of a nuclear bomb as Paramount+’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies episode five begins. Some seem to take the topic seriously, but Richie (Johnathan Nieves) is more interested in what’s happening that night. He and the T-Birds plan on setting off fireworks at the drive-in, while Jane (Marisa Davila) confesses she has a feeling of impending doom.

Paramount+’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies episode four kicks off in Jane’s bedroom with the Pink Ladies having a sleepover. Unfortunately, their night of makeovers and hanging out turns into an evening of worrying about what will happen Monday at school after they learn they’re being blamed for Buddy’s broken arm. The school newspaper has a scathing article blaming the Pink Ladies for injuring Rydell’s quarterback.

Cynthia (Ari Notartomaso) points out the newspaper’s run by Mr. Daniels and that he and Olivia (Cheyenne Isabel Wells) have a history. Jane (Marisa Davila) approaches the touchy subject very carefully and asks for more details. Olivia confesses they were in love.

Paramount+’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies episode three introduces a new character to the mix. Hazel (Shanel Bailey) is an intelligent, introverted Black teenager who doesn’t fit in after transferring to Rydell. She’s an academic whiz who’s set her sights on attending college. However, she’ll first have to survive Rydell High School to do so.

Hazel breaks out in song to share her feelings, describing the promise of greener grass and cleaner streets – a promise that thus far hasn’t been kept. Still, she keeps her focus on the stars and realizes that despite all the changes, the sky remains constant.

“The stars, they still shine. Orion says hi. Everything’s changed, but I’ve got the same sky,” belts out Hazel.

Paramount+’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies episode two begins with phones ringing all over town. Moms interrupt their household chores and day drinking to spread the news that the girls at Rydell have gone crazy. There’s even a new girl gang at the high school! The horror!

Poor Assistant Principal McGee’s phone won’t stop ringing with moms complaining and demanding action be taken. She promises she’ll get right on it.

Paramount+’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies is set four years before the events of Grease and tells the origin story of the Pink Ladies. Episode one, “We’re Gonna Rule the School,” introduces the new key characters while paying homage to the long-running Broadway musical and 1978 feature film.

It’s the start of Jane’s second year at Rydell after moving from New York, and she’s entering the 1954-1955 school year with Big Man on Campus Buddy (Jason Schmidt) at her side. Jane (Marisa Davila) isn’t sure why Buddy wants to be with her, given that she’s not exactly popular, and as we meet the couple, they’re parked at a secluded spot making out.

Buddy’s super happy she helped him plan a pep rally, and Jane’s hoping she can use it as a launching pad for a run for student council.

We love returning to beloved universes that feel familiar but have new stories to tell.

Prime Video's A League Of Their Own was a terrific example of taking the framework of the source material and transforming it into something that feels relevant to modern audiences and uplifts voices that were not always given a platform in the eras being depicted.

Similarly, Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies focuses on the outcasts, the nerds, the ambitious, and the women who don't feel like conforming to the status quo -- or, because of who they are, haven't been allowed.

Why shouldn't they band together and create something new and special to celebrate each other?

Review: My expectations for Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies were very low. I have an appreciation for the classic feature film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, as well as for the Michelle Pfieffer-led sequel. The years have not been kind to some elements from Grease, but that has not stopped people from attempting stage productions and even a maligned live version on Fox. Now, as the streaming wars continue to mine their intellectual property for any potential series, the Paramount+ prequel series Rise of the Pink Ladies aims to correct some of the less diverse elements of Grease for a new generation of fans.

“Grease” fans hungry for a cool slider or hopelessly devoted to fries will have a chance to indulge via a pop-up version of the film franchise’s Frosty Palace on Thursday, April 6, and Friday, April 7. Paramount+ has partnered with Popsugar to take over Mel’s Drive-In on Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood for the promotion, timed to the upcoming launch of the new series “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.”

It’s unclear whether Danny Zuko’s preferred order (a double Polar Burger with everything and a cherry soda with chocolate ice cream) will be available, but the two-day interactive event will include 1950s-era music and decor, as well as “twists on familiar diner fare” and photo moments. “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” merchandise will also be given away and customized on site.

Before there was Sandy and Danny, there was — well, Rydell High was still pretty musical. But the Pink Ladies were just finding their way. In Paramount+’s new series, fans are set to see the beginning of Rydell’s coolest female clique, and how it was originally created specifically for the outcasts.

The newest trailer for the series, set to premiere on the streamer in April, came during Monday morning’s episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” accompanied by the four original Pink Ladies themselves.

In the footage, we see the women who would become the inaugural Pink Ladies getting bullied, shamed for their sexual activities and even denied membership from the T-Birds, solely based on gender — and they’ve had enough. Watch it below.

Are you ready to witness the rise of the Pink Ladies?

Paramount+ debuted the full-length trailer for Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies this week, and it features all the singing and dancing you'd expect from a project set in the Grease universe.

The clip debuted Tuesday on The Drew Barrymore Show during "Drew's News" with Drew Barrymore and co-host Ross Matthews, along with special appearances by cast members Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, and Tricia Fukuhara.

Truthfully, the series looks like a movie, and the plot seems like something that can be told in around two hours, so unless there are some changes along the way, the show might not stand the test of time.

The Grease franchise -- sans Grease 2  and those pesky live editions -- are near and dear to fans, so expectations will be high to set a show in that universe.

The teaser trailer for Paramount+’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies shows off the girl gang and showcases very Grease-y dance numbers. The original series is set to premiere on April 6, 2023 and will delve into the formation of the gang in the years before the events in Grease.

Apparently, "Grease" is still the word at Paramount+ because an all-new show based on the hit stage musical and its beloved 1978 film adaptation is heading to the streaming service later this year after originally being set up at HBO Max in 2019. But rather than follow the star-crossed students made famous by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, the 10-episode series will focus on the origins of the Pink Ladies, the girl gang made up of Stockard Channing, Dinah Manoff, Jamie Donnelly, and Didi Conn in the first movie (and led by an up-and-coming Michelle Pfeiffer in the underrated sequel).

Your chills ought to be multiplying because “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” has a premiere date. The “Grease” prequel musical series will kick off Thursday, April 6, Paramount+ announced Monday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. The subsequent nine episodes of the season will be released weekly.

The streamer also dropped a teaser trailer (watch above) with a first look at the “original girl gang,” the T-Birds and new versions of their iconic jackets.

During its presentation at the Television Critics Association’s 2023 winter press tour, Paramount+ debuted new teaser art for the third and final season of “Star Trek: Picard,” which premieres on Feb. 16. During the panel about the series however, the team behind the series didn’t seem so sure that this would be the end.

“Who knows?” executive producer Alex Kurtzman said when asked about the ending of the series, with star Patrick Stewart saying that if the show could “maintain the work quality” of the first three seasons, he would be open to reappearing. He also noted that the storylines of the final season intentionally “leave doors open.”

The series stars Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, who he played for seven seasons of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd also star.

Besides writing and running the upcoming Grease prequel that will air on Paramount+, Oakes will also direct an episode of the musical series based on the iconic 1978 film.

The streamer on Monday announced the cast for the 10-episode series.

The project stars Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, Shanel Bailey as Hazel, and Madison Thompson as Susan.
