If there's a constant, all-encompassing rule to the universe, it's that absolutely nothing is built to last. If all matter is doomed to the inescapable fate of entropy, and every living thing eventually dies, then what hope do such lovely intangibles as love, desire, and dreams have?
Well, to quote that ersatz Disney prince, Vision, "a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts." Love, dreams, and wishes are beautiful almost because of the fact that they can't always come true; it's the hope, the having of these wishes, that makes life worth living more than merely the attainment of them. Walt Disney and the studio that still bears his name have been a proponent of this principle for Disney (the man's) entire life and Disney (the studio's) existence to date. And now that the studio has reached the milestone of sticking around for 100 years, it's only natural that they'd wish to...

Chris Pine has admitted he was a bit nervous to perform opposite Ariana DeBose in the upcoming Disney animated film Wish.
Though the actor showed off his vocal cords in 2014’s Into the Woods, he recently told Entertainment Tonight, “It’s just not something I do on a daily.”
“When you’re singing opposite Ariana…it’s a big deal,” Pine added. But when DeBose learned her singing partner was doubting his ability, she had nothing but praise for him and his talents.
“He can sing! He can absolutely sing,” she told Et. “When I found out that I was cast in this film, I was like, ‘Oh!’ I mean, did you see him in Into The Woods?… I think Chris is one of those examples of not understanding just how talented he is.”
The Oscar winner went on to tease fans that they’re going to be surprised once...

Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the Los Angeles premiere of Walt Disney Animation’s latest film “Wish” on Wednesday night was set to be a star-free affair — well, save for the literal star on which the movie is based.
But just before 5 p.m., the union announced that, after 118 days, the strike would come to an end as of 12:01 a.m. Pt on Thursday.
Of course, that meant the animated movie’s cast — including Oscar winner Ariana DeBose and Chris Pine — weren’t allowed to make a quick change into their red carpet finest and hustle over to the El Capitan Theatre for a screening set to begin at 7 p.m., but the mood was jubilant nonetheless.
With the film serving as a celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary, the studio pulled out all the stops for the pre-premiere party on Hollywood Blvd., launching a “Wish” drone show in...

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disney Music Group today released the new song “Welcome to Rosas,” performed by Ariana DeBose and the talented cast of Wish. Now available on SiriusXM’s Disney Hits Channel 302, YouTube, Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, and all digital service providers, “Welcome to Rosas” is the third of five songs being revealed as part of a weekly “Wish Wednesdays” music campaign ahead of the film’s launch in U.S. theaters on November 22. Check out the video for the song above!
Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy®-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice penned seven original songs for the film. “I would describe the songs as fun, emotional and heartfelt,” said Michaels. “We had to cover a lot of ground for Wish lyrically, so a lot of the songs are rhythmically whimsical and intentional.” This “is the first song you hear from the movie,...

After 100 years of making animated film musicals about talking animals, princesses, classic literary characters, superheroes, and even space pirates, there's not a whole lot of ground that Disney has never covered before. With the upcoming "Wish," however, the House of Mouse will ring in its centennial by focusing on the very idea of wishes. It's a motif that's appeared time and time again in the studio's work, yet it's rarely interrogated. What even is a "wish," really? Who decides which wishes come true and which ones do not? And if wishes can change the course of one's life, what does that even mean for those whose greatest wishes are never granted? It's a real existential conundrum, the further you go down this rabbit hole.
No doubt, you'll be shocked to learn that Disney hasn't fashioned "Wish" as an Ingmar Bergman-esque rumination on these questions and what they say about the human condition.

Chris Pine isn’t a singer but he tries his best to handle a Disney tune with “This Is The Thanks I Get?!” from Wish. The studio released a minute-long clip of Pine’s animated character, King Magnifico, performing the song. As an added bonus, Disney also released a behind-the-scenes video of Pine singing alongside clips of King Magnifico.
Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice wrote “This Is The Thanks I Get?!” as well as six additional original songs for the family-friendly animated film.
“We just had a blast with it,” said Wish director Chris Buck, commenting on Pine’s new villain song. “The visuals are terrific — he’s the King and he feels like nobody respects him. It’s been a while since we’ve had a good villain song, so Julia and Ben just went for it.”

The universal inevitabilities of starting a new relationship are captured strikingly by Director Colby Day in his one-shot film Lead/Follow. Day’s short began life as a play he created as a graduate fresh out of NYU and when he moved to LA to pursue filmmaking, it made logical sense to translate it for his first creative venture on the West coast. What makes Lead/Follow so gripping is how Day differentiates it from the play, turning the story into a dance. The couple in question, played by Della Saba and Sam Nelson Harris, venture through the stages of a relationship beginning with infatuation and obsession before the inevitable reveal of personal baggage. It’s broad in concept but Day and his actors make it feel personal. Dn is proud to Premiere Lead/Follow on our pages today and are joined by Day for a conversation below where he...

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight is a Dreamworks animation series based on the popular and hilarious movie Kung Fu Panda. With Jack Black and Rita Ora.
A really entertaining animated series suitable for the whole family which has known how to adapt television rhythm to the characters of Dreamworks movies and has managed, with the voices of Jack Black and Rita Ora, a delightfully entertaining delicacy with all the necessary ingredients.
Although it does not have the speed of the movies and does not seek spectacularity, it is a series that rests on the attractive personalities of the characters and the funny things and sense of humor in the ingenious dialogues and has an entertaining storyline, which is attractive and above all, lots of fun.

Last year, Apple TV+ debuted the first season of the Rose Byrne-starring drama, “Physical,” about San Diego mother Sheila Rubin (Byrne) and her desire to build an aerobics empire in the 1980s. The series had many of ’80s-set show staples, including a colorful wardrobe. Alongside that, it was a personal story for series creator Annie Weisman, who felt that San Diego and the ’80s were often portrayed as idyllic places which she wanted to subvert. The first season received mixed reviews from critics, with several pointing out that Sheila’s voice-over narration, coupled with her character’s eating disorder, were anxiety-inducing and indulging in disordered eating stereotypes.
Season 2 feels like a course correction with a desire to embrace the “autonomy” Weisman found interesting about women and aerobics in the 1980s. Sheila is working to tailor herself into a lifestyle brand, but everyone else in her orbit is working on themselves,...

Warning: The following podcast contains spoilers from the season one finale of AppleTV+’s dramedy series Physical, “Let’s Get Together”

Ahead of this week’s finale, Apple TV+ has renewed the Rose Byrne-starring comedy “Physical” for a second season. Additionally, creator Annie Weisman has signed an overall deal with Apple TV+.
Set in the idyllic but fragile beach paradise of sunny 1980s San Diego, “Physical” is a half-hour dark comedy following Sheila Rubin (Byrne), a quietly tortured, seemingly dutiful housewife supporting her smart but controversial husband’s bid for state assembly. But behind closed doors, Sheila has her own darkly funny take on life she rarely lets the world see. She’s also battling a complex set of personal demons relating to her self-image…. that is, until she finds release through the unlikeliest source: the world of aerobics.
In addition to Byrne, “Physical” stars Rory Scovel, Dierdre Friel, Della Saba, Lou Taylor Pucci, Paul Sparks, Ashley Liao and Geoffrey Arend.
“Physical” is produced for Apple TV+ by Tomorrow Studios (an ITV Studios partnership). Created,...

Aerobics enthusiast Sheila Rubin this week gets Physical on behalf of husband Danny’s political campaign. But will her splashy mall stunt bring (a sweaty) heat to his campaign… or douse any spark it had left?
The 1980s-set Apple TV+ dramedy opens its finale this Friday with Sheila and Bunny (played by Rose Byrne and Della Saba) leading a rousing, well-attended group aerobics class at the local mall’s center court, all as a supportive Greta (Dierdre Friel), a frankly impressed Danny (Rory Scovel) and a… something… John Breem (Paul Sparks) all look on from the sidelines.

The 1980s are a decade that’s been mythologized and romanticized to death, usually by men. That alone sets Annie Weisman’s “Physical” apart, and it is more than enough to recommend watching it. But what Weisman’s story does isn’t just examine the way women were spending a decade usually boiled down to big hair and cocaine — although that’s well-represented in the series. It also looks at how the oft-perceived frivolous things women were doing in the era often led to more power than anyone could realize.
Sheila Rubin (Rose Byrne) is an ’80s woman trying to have it all: perfect home, perfect husband, and perfect body. Unfortunately, all three are in various states of falling apart, or at least they are by Sheila’s standards. Her husband, Danny (Rory Scovel) has just lost his job as a professor and has aspirations to join local government. But that takes money,...

The new Apple TV+ series Physical opens with verve. It is 1986, and we are in the dressing room of a TV studio where a woman — who has her back to us for this whole opening sequence, but whom we’ll soon get to know as Sheila Rubin (Rose Byrne) — sits quietly in front of the makeup mirror, psyching herself up with Heart’s “Straight On” playing on her Walkman. She then (in a mostly unbroken take) struts out to the stage to record the aerobics workout show she apparently hosts.
