Jojo Siwa is letting her actions speak for themselves. This week, the 17-year-old posted a TikTok video singing to Lady Gaga's hit song "Born This Way." At one point, the teen mouthed the lyrics, "No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgender life, I'm on the right track baby, I was born to survive." Her thousands of fans suspected this was Jojo's way of coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. After all, the teen routinely expresses herself through dance and music. The speculation about her sexuality later went into overdrive when Jojo participated in a video shared by Kent Boyd, a member of the LGBTQ+ TikTok group, Pride House. In the clip, the group and Jojo...

Disney is making online video production a major priority, and as first reported by Variety, the Mouse House’s latest initiative in the web space is a series of short films. The films, which are collectively referred to as Free Period, will launch across the Disney Channel’s digital distribution network, including its over-the-top apps, its website, and its YouTube channel.
For Free Period, Disney turned to kid-friendly filmmakers, including several who previously worked on Disney Channel TV shows and original movies. The resulting films all feature tween and teen protagonists, but in terms of the genres they cover, they are quite versatile, ranging from comedy to romance to fantasy to sci-fi.
The first of the 12 short films to see release is also called Free Period, and it comes from Kent Boyd, best known as one of the stars of the Disney Channel Original Movie Teen Beach High. The film...

A review of tonight's Veep coming up just as soon as I'm selling a young adult fiction novel about an alternate timeline... Well, that was not what I was expecting. At all. To the point where I briefly wondered if HBO had played us all for suckers and aired the Veep series finale without telling anyone in advance. They haven't, by the way. Not only was the show renewed back in April, but I've confirmed with someone at HBO that the renewal (which came with similar orders for Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley) wasn't an elaborate ruse to keep people from realizing the show was about to end. Veep will be back next year, but with a huge difference: Selina won't be the president anymore. Nor will she go back to being the vice-president. She will be an ex-potus, for however long the series runs past next season. I...

This week's "upfront" presentations, where the TV networks touted their 2015-16 slates to advertisers, told us a lot about what we''ll be seeing this fall -- and in the next couple of years, for that matter. What went unmentioned, of course, is what we won't be seeing.
It's not just shows that have been canceled, including some that have been on the air since forever. It's also some seemingly indispensable performers and even entire genres of TV fare that are disappearing. Here are some of the things you'll be missing on broadcast TV in the near future.
"American Idol" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." Yeah, we still have one more season of "Idol"' which Fox is pretending is a victory lap instead of a last-gasp cash grab. Is anyone going to be sorry to see it go? Is anyone still entertained by the witticisms of Ryan Seacrest, the sparkling repartee among the judges,...

I just knew [name redacted because it’s a huge spoiler so you’ll have to wait to read it after the jump] was up to no good!
I’m talking about Sleepy Hollow‘s Frank Irving, of course, who this week reveals himself to be every bit as much in Henry’s pocket as the contract he unwittingly signed in blood would have you believe.
Makes sense: When have you ever gotten out of paying a lawyer something he or she is owed?
In related news: Katrina, get yourself together! Just because you dress like Bad Willow doesn’t mean you have to act like her!
Let’s review what happens in “Spellcaster.”

Since its premiere at Sundance, Richard Linklater’s Boyhood has been garnering Oscar buzz and rave reviews. The film could score nominations for best picture, director, actor and more, but after submitting three songs to the Academy for consideration in the best original song category, the film could add another nomination. Two of the songs were written by Ethan Hawke, who could garner a best supporting actor nomination for his portrayal of the father. If Hawke receives a best original song nomination for one of his songs, he will join a short list of actors who have scored nominations for songs since 1994.

The Prohibition Era drama returned on Sept. 8 and our favorite bootlegging gangsters were back to wheeling and dealing and yes, murdering.
Season Three of Boardwalk Empire dealt with Nucky Thompson’s (Steve Buscemi) transition from seedy politician to full-blown gangster. And after vanquishing his latest enemy, Gyp Rosetti (Bobby Cannavale), Season Four appears to be a wide open expanse of possibility. So what happens next? Let’s find out!
Nucky Thompson’s New Digs
“New York Sour,” the Season Four premiere of Boardwalk Empire, shows a Nucky who has clearly learned from his mistakes. He used to revel in being a public figure — the man with the red carnation — but he’s finally realizing that popularity has made him vulnerable. Instead of living at the Ritz Carlton on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, he’s retreated to a hotel on the outskirts of the city.

Plus, Ross Lynch chimes in: Would he hop back onto Brady’s surfboard for round two?
With hot ratings (8.4 million tuned in for the premiere) and an even hotter cast (ladies love Ross Lynch), Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Movie is destined to spawn a sequel — if not a full-fledged High School Musical-style franchise. Moved by a passion for dance, singing and acting, young Hollywood starlet Mollee Gray is taking the Disney world by storm. In a recent exclusive interview, Mollee talked about her latest film project Teen Beach Movie and all the fun she had bringing her character Giggles to life while working on the beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico.
How did you get involved with Teen Beach Movie and what drew you to the role of Giggles?
Mollee: I was doing a pilot with Disney and I had a role on that as a spunky cheerleader, so one of the casting directors at Disney, Judy Taylor, invited me to audition. She said it was basically already casted, but they had a couple roles left. So I went and I ended up getting it. Then they flew me within a week, after I got done finishing the pilot, to Puerto Rico to start work on it.

We’ll start with the surprising news: Wayne Brady? A very satisfactory So You Think You Can Dance judge. His vaudevillian humor and instincts dovetail nicely with the required theatricality of Sytycd contestants, so I was happy to hear him offer praise and criticism in that regard. He was certainly more capable of analyzing contestants than the blankly jovial Minnie Driver, who — in case you forgot — was a judge on this show. So strange.
The final day of auditions brought with it a few thrilling characters, including a few who narrowly missed my Top 5 readout. Among the also-rans: Courtney Thurston earned herself a disqualification from this list by choosing Celine Dion‘s “The Power of Love” and patting her heart repeatedly to illustrate The Power Of Love. "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 2 runner-up Travis Wall has choreographed for the Oscars, is a two-time Emmy nominee and now he's the star of his own reality show on Oxygen, "All the Right Moves." Oh, and he's only 24.
Travis went from being a contestant to a choreographer on "Sytycd" before starting his own dance company, Shaping Sound -- which is the subject of "All the Right Moves" -- with fellow "Sytycd" alum (and Season 1 winner) Nick Lazzarini, as well as Teddy Forance and Kyle Robinson. The four friends and roommates "work together, have their lives taped ... and start getting real" on the new series, which premiered on July 31.
"All the Right Moves" returns this week (Tues., Aug. 21, 10 p.m. Et on Oxygen) with its second episode, which will continue to follow Travis, Nick, Teddy, Kyle and the rest of the dancers in the fledgling Shaping Sound company (including...

After a groan-inducing two-week hiatus, the glorious So You Think You Can Dance returns tonight for its Top 14 week. This season, the terpsichorean series lost its Thursday night results show, forcing major format changes that include 1) performances and eliminations within the same episode, 2) new "bottom three" rules, and 3) a finale that will crown two winners, one male and one female. And you know what? I think it's working out great so far. Here are the five biggest perks of the new system.
1. Cat Deeley works best under this pressure.
Why is Cat Deeley the greatest host on TV (besides, perhaps, RuPaul)? Because she has that natural Dick Clark-ian awareness of pacing, timing, humor, seriousness, and contestant sympathy. In the old format, Cat was responsible for introducing a myriad of guest performances and reading tons more teleprompter feed. Now, she's forced into exhibiting only her finest traits: helping along repartee between contestants and judges,...

Before I came to write about the great world of Bollywood, I was a professional ballet dancer for many years. It was my first love. So when I discovered Bollywood, the dance sequences were one of the things that made me fall in love with the genre. Since I am a dancer, one of my all time favorite shows is the reality dance program, So You Think You Can Dance (Sytycd) on Fox network here in the Us. You can imagine how excited I was when I first saw a Bollywood number on the show in Season 4. I was ecstatic and so it seems was the audience. Since then the Bollywood numbers have thrilled audiences and I hear will be seen on the 9th season, which is airing now on Wednesday nights. A couple of weeks ago I got the amazing opportunity to chat with the choreographer behind those great Bollywood numbers,...

Fox Tadd Gadduang and Sasha Mallory on “So You Think You Can Dance”
Who will be crowned America’s favorite dancer?
Judging from the comments here and the rest of the blogosphere, people seem to have little doubt that it’s going to be Melanie.
There’s an opening group number to “Wanna Get Hype” by District 78. They’re in bondage/futuristic looking outfits and big hair and leap around a lot. It is kind of interesting when they crawl on their heads.

Talk about a season going Fast! I feel like the auditions were just yesterday. We have had so much fun watching all the talent. And fun at the judges’ table as well.
Speaking of judges, guest judge Christina Applegate was funny and so easy to get along with. So You Think You Can Dance 2011 eliminated Ricky & Caitlynn tonight. Tonight's elimination show kicked off with a dance routine from the final six dancers. Then hostess Cat Deeley hit the stage to intro the judges, and talk a bit. After that, Sasha did a solo dance, followed by Caitlynn and Melanie to lead into the first break. After the break, they showed scenes from "National Dance Day." Then Tadd hit the stage for his solo, followed by Marko and Ricky to lead into another break. After the break, past dancers Kent & Lauren performed a special dance routine, choreographed by Travis Wall. Then Cat recapped Sasha,Caitlynn, and Melanie's performances from last night.

It doesn’t matter who made the So You Think You Can Dance Season 8 finale, executive producer and head judge Nigel Lythgoe declared during Thursday night’s results-show telecast: “The only winner is dance.” Roll your eyes all you want, but the man kind of has a point, doesn’t he? As we come to the end of a sensational summer of hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, ballroom, and not enough offbeat stuff like African jazz and Bollywood, it’s time to put your hands together one more time, as the glamorously attired Cat Deeley instructed, for the week’s evicted hoofers,...

This has been a really surprising and refreshing season. Too bad I’m talking about the guest judges rather than the dancers. Last night, Christina Applegate offered up a nice mix of compliments, criticism, and technical know-how. As it were, her diligent research and thoughtful comments were pretty lost on a boring, unremarkable night. Other than Melanie’s solo and Sasha’s contemporary with Kent, the stand-outs were few and few between. Was this the lamest Top 6 ever? Or were you pleased with how the dancers performed? Do you think last night’s snoozefest will be redeemed tonight with some unexpected D4YL performances?...

Melanie, Sasha, Marko, and Tadd. We’ve all pretty much known for the last several weeks that they’d be the final four dancers standing at the end of So You Think You Can Dance‘s eighth season, and Wednesday night’s Top 6 performance show most likely sealed the deal.
But that doesn’t mean the evening was void of the unpredictable or the unexpected. Melanie finally stared down a hard-hitting hip-hop routine, and looked completely comfortable doing it (no matter what Lil C had to say about it). Tadd showed his dirty side (mmm hmm) while hanging from a chandelier.

Earlier today, I teased my exclusive first-hand look at the early morning rehearsals for tonight’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance with some ridiculously cryptic clues. I’d promised not to spill any big details until after the show had aired on the west coast — who am I to stand in the way of the “fairness” of reality TV call-in competitions — so instead, I had to get all ambiguous.

The final six contestants took to the stage on 'So You Think You Can Dance' (Wed., 8Pm Et on Fox), giving us yet another strong night of performances. But one performance early in the program had the judges all choked up, including guest judge Christina Applegate.
Sasha Mallory took to the stage with last season's runner-up, Kent Boyd, for a contemporary piece that simply wrenched at the heart strings. Sasha has always been a brilliant technical dancer, but Applegate did a great job of summing up the difference between technical brilliance and brilliance.
She explained that she sees dancers who can do all these things technically perfectly and "I don't care." But to Sasha she said, "you put your finger against a wall and you break my heart."

"So, do you think you could interview Travis Wall?" We've been getting that request a lot around here, so thanks to everyone who pushed for it. We're happy to deliver!
Travis Wall is just 23-years-old, which is easy to forget when you consider what he's already managed to accomplish. Dancing all his life, he starred in a nationwide Dr. Pepper commercial when he was nine. He was performing on Broadway in a revival of The Music Man at 12. But perhaps his biggest break as a dancer came in 2006, when then 18-year-old Travis competed on the second season of So You Think You Can Dance.
If nothing else, you probably remember that gorgeous (and Emmy-winning) Mia Michaels routine he performed with Heidi Groskreutz called The Bench. EW.com recently ranked it as #2 on their list of the 15 greatest So You Think You Can Dance routines.

Eagle-eyed viewers of last night’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance noticed a brief audience shot at the end of the show featuring several alumni from past seasons. I personally caught a glimpse of season 5′s Kayla Radomski, season 6′s Kathryn McCormick, and season 7′s Robert Roldan and Kent Boyd, who miraculously still has not been fed past midnight and transformed into a gremlin. And, oh yeah, I also saw Alex Freaking Wong.
Alex, you may recall, is the supernaturally talented contestant from season 7 who occupies two of EW’s Top 5 Sytycd routines of all time, including the No.

Tonight is the season eight premiere of So You Think You Can Dance. And if you believe the commercials, the talent is better than ever before. Given the quality of dancers last season and the prior years, we do find that a little hard to believe. But knowing what a great vehicle the show is to expose these otherwise unknowns to millions of fans, it only makes sense that the b-boys, tappers, krumpers and ballerinas are crawling out of the woodwork to get on the show. So while we wait to see how this year's dancers measure up, here's a list of our favorite Sytycd routines to date.

In season five, the runner-up from season two, Travis Wall, returned to Sytycd to make his debut as a choreographer.

Forget beautiful leaps and graceful steps! Finalists Lauren, Robert and Kent tell us they had a food fight in their apartment to celebrate becoming the final three!
Lauren Froderman, Robert Roldan and Kent Boyd, the final three contestants on the seventh season of So You Think You Can Dance, have dazzled us week after week with their gravity-defying lifts and flawless performances — but don’t mistake their gracefulness for maturity! When these young dancers step off the dance floor they are anything but refined — in fact, they’re down-right childish!
“This is going to sound crazy, but this past week – I can’t believe I’m talking about this – Lauren, Kent, and I had a food fight in our apartment,” 20-year-old jazz dancer, Robert Roldan, who took third place, told HollywoodLife.com exclusively backstage after the season finale Aug. 12. “We threw eggs at each other, Dr. Pepper,...
