Those in need of a shot of testosterone for Christmas just might make do with “American Renegades,” though it’s unlikely this knucklehead adventure will do much better Stateside than in the various territories it’s played over the last 18 months. Release-delayed from the start, the international co-production offers a particularly dumb kind of gung-ho Ugly Americanism that would have seemed odd for a primarily European enterprise when filming started in early 2015 — and seems even more so given political shifts since.
Having so far purportedly earned back just a tiny fraction of a budget said to be in the high eight figures, this tale of Navy SEALs seeking hidden Nazi gold during the Balkan Wars a quarter-century ago was a terrible idea on many levels. Still, it’s smoothed over to an extent by the sheer glossy expense of big if uninspired action-movie packaging. EuropaCorp is launching on 10 U.S.

“Do you have any idea the shit storm that you have created?!”
I’ve got a new trailer here for you to watch for an entertaining heist action thriller that revolves around a team of Navy SEALs. The film is called American Renegades, and it’s inspired by a true story that follows a team of Navy SEALs in 1995 as they attempt to solve a long-forgotten mystery while uncovering an immense treasure of Nazi gold at a bottom of a lake in war-torn Serbia.
The movie seems to be filled with lots of fun, over-the-top action that audiences will enjoy. If they’re into that kind of thing. I don’t know, I think the movie looks like it will be a blast! It doesn’t hurt to see J.K. Simmons being a hard-ass in it!

"The only thing more dangerous than the mission is this team of renegades." EuropaCorp USA has debuted a brand new official trailer for the action heist thriller titled Renegades, formerly known as The Lake. This was originally set for release in early 2017, and the first trailer debuted in 2016, but it's just now getting to theaters this fall - apparently. The film tells the sort-of true story of a team of Navy SEALs who try to find long-lost Nazi gold at the bottom in a lake during the Bosnian War in the 90s. The eclectic cast includes J.K. Simmons, as well as Sullivan Stapleton, Ewen Bremner, Sylvia Hoeks, Diarmaid Murtagh, Charlie Bewley, Clemens Schick and Dimitri Leonidas. They're totally overselling this now with all the big action, guns, tanks, and wise-crackin' American patriotism from these elite SEALs. Whatever works. Here's the new official trailer (+ new poster) for Steven Quale's American Renegades,...

It was only a matter of time before someone remade Three Kings. Admittedly, this isn't technically a remake of anything since it's a pretty different story but the concept is the same: a group of military guys break all the rules to make themselves rich.
Co-written by Richard Wenk and Luc Besson, American Renegades unfolds in 1995 Bosnia with a team of Navy Seals who decide they're going to dive into a Bosnian Lake, in the middle of a war, to recover $300 million dollars in gold stolen by the Nazi's during WWII and thought to be submerged in a town which was purposefully flooded.
Basically, it's just a lot of backstory to set-up a bunch of military guys trying to get rich during a war.
American Renegades stars Sullivan Stapleton, Charlie Bewley and J.K.

Five Navy SEALs, $300 million in lost gold, one incredible mission – what could possibly go wrong? Quite a lot, as the explosive first trailer for crime caper Renegades attests.
Placing the Oscar-winning J.K. Simmons in the role of a no-nonsense army chief – seen here barking orders in a manner that evokes memories of Whiplash – Renegades takes place in 1995 Sarajevo, where a crack team of SEALs fly off the radar in a bid to recover a stash of lost Nazi gold from the icy depths of the Bosnian lake. Complicating matters is the fact that they’re deep within enemy territory, setting the stage for nail-biting chase sequences, firefights, and plenty of explosive set-pieces.
Hatched by Taken‘s Luc Besson and Richard Wenk, EuropaCorp is the studio behind the action-thriller, and even from the reveal trailer alone, it’s clear that Besson and co. are looking to tap into a similar over-the-top...

Hard to believe that July is already upon us, but before we all take off for some summer shenanigans over this long holiday weekend, here’s a look at all the great VOD titles coming our way this month, including one of my favorite films I’ve seen in 2016, Mickey Keating’s brilliant Carnage Park, which is being released by IFC Midnight.
Marauders, the latest from Steven C. Miller (The Aggression Scale, Silent Night) is also making its VOD premiere on July 1st, along with Magnet Releasing's Satanic, and Gravitas Ventures wants us to indulge in some Bachelor Games on July 8th. The haunting and beautiful Japanese animated film, Belladonna of Sadness—something all genre fans should experience at least once in their lifetimes (it’s amazing)—arrives on VOD on July 12th, and the revenge thriller Angels and Outlaws will be released on July 15th.

Studio Babelsberg’s co-production of the upcoming Captain America sequel and Steven Quale’s action film The Lake are to benefit from new German funding specifically targeted at VFX studios.
The new opportunities came after the Munich-based regional film fund Fff Bayern extended its dedicated international co-production funding programme to include support for VFX producers based in Bavaria.
According to Ilse Aigner, Bavaria’s Minister for Economics and Media, Energy and Technology, the additional funding would support local companies “in this difficult international competitive market”, bolster Bavaria’s position as a VFX hub and, simultaneously, benefit the overall sector as the measure will bring additional productions to Bavaria.
VFX studio Trixter was awarded $495,000 (€450,000) for the virtual shoot of Captain America: Civil War in order to begin work on the production from the end of August.

Deadline is reporting that J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) has joined the cast of Luc Besson's Navy SEALs action thriller The Lake. It will not be a large role for the recent Oscar winner but no one is probably better suited to play a Rear Admiral than he right now. Joining the cast of leads with recent addition Sullivan Stapleton on the ground in war-torn Siberia will be Charlie Bewley (Twilight) and Diarmaid Murtaugh (Sons of Liberty). Simmons has a smaller role as the Rear Admiral and leathery boss to the SEALs who doesn't exactly approve of what his team is doing but supports them nevertheless... Bewley is playing the soulful Stanton who has a love interest (yet to be cast) and daydreams about what life would be like outside of...

As Juliette heads in a different direction, Rayna learns her mother’s death may not have been an accident!
The lives of our favorite singers got a whole lot more complicated on the Oct. 16 episode of Nashville. Maddie (Lennon Stella) was the ultimate drama teen, Teddy (Eric Close) joined Peggy (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) in crazy town, and Scarlett (Clare Bowen) had a tough time dealing with her newfound fame. Let’s dig in!
It was about time that Nashville addressed the Rayna-Maddie-Deacon situation; it was only the biggest revelation of last season! On tonight’s episode, we saw the fallout of Rayna’s (Connie Britton) truth, and how Maddie was dealing with it.
Maddie actually behaved like a normal teen would — with a little extra baggage. She was mad (rightfully so), teary-eyed, and angsty. So Rayna tried to lift her spirits by inviting her and Daphne (Maisy Stella) to the Symphony Gala honoring her late mother.
