Prakash Nambiar was born and raised in Mumbai. He founded Kathaa Animations in 2001 and was instrumental in the creation of the immensely popular cartoon characters Hum Tum for the feature film of the same name by Yash Raj Films in 2004.
After a long stint in the animation industry, he shifted his focus on writing and directing live-action shorts and features. He has done over 25 short films for brands like Idea Cellular, Cadbury's and Tanishq. His first feature film 'The Perfect Girl' was released in 2015. It has garnered over 4.5 million views on YouTube garnering an amazing response in its Comments section.
He is the Creative Producer for the film 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect' directed by R. Madhavan and is directing a biopic on the legendary boxer 'Hawa Singh'. 'Rocketry - The Nambi Effect' opened to critical acclaim and went on to win the National Award for Best Film in 2023.
In 2020, he also released his debut novel - The Blunder Years : Memoirs of an Introverted Teenager
