Rbd has finally settled a lawsuit with their ex-manager Guillermo Rosas. On Friday, the Mexican pop group’s Maite Perroni, Christopher von Uckermann, and Christian Chávez issued a statement revealing the band has agreed to pay the former manager less than half of the amount Rosas claimed he was entitled to for their Soy Rebelde Tour.
“Today being World Rbd Day, there is no better way to celebrate it than by doing justice,” the group wrote. “Finally, after a year, this matter has concluded. The truth is on our side.

João Rosas’s film, depicting the lives of immigrant construction workers busily gentrifying the Portuguese capital, asks important questions
First conceived in the weeks leading up to the birth of film-maker João Rosas’s first child, this documentary portrait of Lisbon was initially intended to be a memento between father and daughter. What began as a record of private memories, however, soon expanded and metamorphosed, as the film takes in the unsung labour that undergirds a rapidly changing urban landscape. Here is an elegy to a vanishing city, whose history is being erased, brick by brick.
Diaristic in form, Rosas’s camera takes in the day-to-day of a construction site; here nearly all of the workers are immigrants, mostly from Africa and South Asia. Once home to a printing workshop, the building is now being torn down to make way for luxury condos. Flourishing in the aftermath of the financial crisis and the tourist boom,...

Following Strange World, Disney’s new animated feature – Wish – will not be getting a 4K disc release in the UK: just DVD and Blu-ray.
Released in a blaze of publicity at the end of last year was Disney’s latest animated feature, Wish. This one carried the added responsibility of celebrating 100 years of Disney, and while the film’s solid enough, I’d argue it was weighed down by the extra centenary baggage.
Still, it’s entertaining, and looks and sounds superb, which makes it prime fodder for a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray physical media release. However, its muted box office performance means that Disney has opted to limit its physical release to DVD and Blu-ray instead.
This was the same fate that befell Disney’s preceding animated feature, the terrific-looking Strange World. That didn’t ignite the box office, either, and had its home media release slightly restricted.

Walt Disney Animation Studios released its latest original film during the Thanksgiving holiday in the form of "Wish." In the lead-up to the release, it was presumed that Disney's latest was going to top the box office ahead of "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" and Ridley Scott's "Napoleon." That's not how things panned out. Instead, the animated musical had to settle for third place, coming in far below industry expectations. No two ways about it: in the early going, this is a rough start for a massive $200 million animated film. Be that as it may, it wouldn't be fair to count the movie out just yet.
"Wish" earned $19.5 million over the weekend and an estimated $31.7 million across the full, five-day holiday frame, per The Numbers. Disney opted to release the film mid-week on Wednesday to get in on the holiday bounty and, typically, that works out well.

Spoiler Alert: This story discusses major plot points for “Wish,” currently playing in theaters.
Disney’s animated feature “Wish” features over 100 nods.
As the animation studio celebrates its centennial year, “Wish” pays homage to classic Disney films from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to “Peter Pan,” “Sleeping Beauty” and more. Speaking with Variety, director Chris Buck explained they are “Disney nods” rather than easter eggs.
“We wanted to get the story to work first,” Buck says. “Once we had that, and we started going into production, we could start layering in all the nods.”
It wasn’t just fellow director Fawn Veerasunthorn and writer and Disney Animation chief creative officer Jennifer Lee helping to incorporate them. According to Buck, “every artist and every department was saying, ‘What if we tried this?'”
While some are more obvious than others, Buck teases, “There are so many that are truly hidden,...

This article contains spoilers for "Wish."
It's been 100 years since Walt Disney created The Walt Disney Company, which first produced short silent films like "Alice's Funnies." That film starred Walt Disney himself, in live-action, showing a little girl how he created his cartoons. The strange and anthropomorphic creations came alive on the screen in front of her in that ambitious early short, and after a day of behind-the-scenes magic, she dreamed herself into the cartoon world.
The events of the next century are much too voluminous to write them all down here but needless to say, Walt Disney's company underwent many changes. Original characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy helped make the studio an industry titan, and feature films like "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and "Cinderella" cemented its box office clout. Disney's theme parks literally changed landscapes. And by the time the 100th anniversary of those original cartoons came around,...

Who could ever forget Disney’s classic animated film Pinocchio and the song that opened the fairy tale, “When You Wish Upon a Star,” sung by Cliff Edwards, the voice of Jiminy Cricket? The 1940 animated film is true Disney cinematic magic. That is not the case, however, with Disney’s latest animated film Wish which pays tribute to classic Disney films, including Peter Pan, Bambi, and of course the aforementioned Pinocchio, but pales in comparison.
Wish is a fairy tale lacking engaging characters, memorable songs, and any sense of true magic.
The soulless film opens with a voice-over by Asha (voiced by Ariana DeBose), a 17-year-old native who belts out the song “Welcome to Rosas” which serves to explain the legend of the island (called Rosas). After the loud, energetic number, Asha is off to interview for...

If there's a constant, all-encompassing rule to the universe, it's that absolutely nothing is built to last. If all matter is doomed to the inescapable fate of entropy, and every living thing eventually dies, then what hope do such lovely intangibles as love, desire, and dreams have?
Well, to quote that ersatz Disney prince, Vision, "a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts." Love, dreams, and wishes are beautiful almost because of the fact that they can't always come true; it's the hope, the having of these wishes, that makes life worth living more than merely the attainment of them. Walt Disney and the studio that still bears his name have been a proponent of this principle for Disney (the man's) entire life and Disney (the studio's) existence to date. And now that the studio has reached the milestone of sticking around for 100 years, it's only natural that they'd wish to...

The baby goat Valentino is going to be one of the most popular characters from Disney’s new animated movie Wish and you might be wondering who voiced the role.
The goat is given the power of speech after lead character Asha places a wish on a star, which then falls from the sky to help her on her journey.
Valentino also accompanies Asha on her quest to give the people of Rosas their wishes back after learning King Magnifico has no plans to grant most of them.

Ariana DeBose stars in the new Disney movie Wish as the lead character Asha and she performs a beautiful song called “This Wish” near the top of the film!
This is the big “I want” song that sets the tone for the movie and pushes Asha on her journey to help the people of her city Rosas get their wishes back.
Wish is an all-new musical-comedy welcoming audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

So most of the big animation studios have sent us their big 2023 features already. Last weekend Dreamworks sent out those music-lovin’ Trolls into the multiplex, while Sony “kicked off” the flood of flicks early this Summer with another trek across the Spider-Verse, followed quickly by the fine folks at Pixar with their Elemental. Yes, they’re still a Disney “brand”, but what about the big “kahuna, the “Mouse House” themselves? Though they suffered from a major stumble with Strange World last Winter, they’re bouncing back in a big way. After all, it’s the official 100th anniversary, so this is a return and in many ways a tribute to, the fantasy themes that were such a big part of those original full-length films. Thinking about it that way, the title makes a whole lotta’ sense because the plot of many of them centered around a Wish.

Long-time Disney music arranger and orchestrator Dave Metzger is finally getting his “Wish.” After two decades and orchestrating “Tarzan,” “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Frozen,” Metzger is composing his first full animated feature, “Wish.”
Speaking to Variety during scoring session breaks in early September, Metzger says getting the call was amazing. “I’ve always done a lot of composing, but it’s always been as the unknown composer or the additional music person,” he says. But after 25 years of being that additional music person, Metzger wondered if the window on getting his composing credit would ever become a reality. “I had reached the point where I wasn’t sure,” he admits.
A phone call from Matthew Walker, VP of Music at Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios changed that. Metzger says, “He said he was considering me to be the composer for ‘Wish.’”

Weddings are a time when people set aside differences and put on brave faces in support of the bride and groom. But there are also times when the bride and groom’s actual wedding is the source of tension for the family.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in a grand ceremony on May 19, 2018. As it was later reported, William had voiced concerns about his brother rushing into things with Meghan which Harry did not take well. In addition to the dustup between the siblings, there was some friction between Meghan and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) over the flower girls’ dresses.
