Newsweek is reporting that Mauro Ranallo, announcer for WWE Smackdown Live as well as boxing and Mma organizations, has left the company. Last seen on WWE television on March 7th, speculation has run high as to the reason why Mauro had been off the air. Some speculated it was due to his bi-polar disorder, which Mauro has been open about. Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, one of the preeminent wrestling news organizations in the country, has been adamant since the story broke that the reason for Mauro leaving was due to bullying from Jbl. Citing the March 13 episode of Bring It To The Table, starring Peter Rosenberg, he cites that Jbl's verbal jabs at Mauro for winning the Best Announcer Award from the Wrestling Observer were cause for Mauro to leave. Mauro had this to say to Newsweek about his departure.

Just over an hour ago, Daniel Bryan took to his official Twitter page to break the news that due to medical complications, he has been forced to retire from wrestling.

The Yes man started his journey to the top of the wrestling mountain in 1999 when he joined Shawn Michaels’ training school. In the decade that followed he’d wrestle across the world in Japan, the Us, Mexico and became a legend in Ring of Honor before signing with WWE in 2010.

Initially, he was part of the Nxt game show format and when he debuted on Raw with the Nexus, he got fired for choking Justin Roberts with a tie, although he’d be brought back a few months later at SummerSlam of that year.

Over the course of 2014, wrestling fans have seen more releases and departures from WWE than any other year in recent memory. The WWE Network has forced WWE to cut back on costs, so it was only a matter of time before undercard guys such as Brodus Clay, Yoshi Tatsu and Jtg finally hit the bricks. SummerSlam has been one of WWE’s “big four” Pay-Per-View events since it first took place in August of 1988. At that time, WWE had already aired four WrestleManias and they figured they could add SummerSlam as the PPV that followed it about four months later. It was a smart move right off the bat because it allowed WWE to continue certain storylines from WrestleMania or begin new angles. With Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble also in place, fans had four major events to look forward to every year.

Now that we live in an era where there’s a PPV every month, an event like SummerSlam could seem less important just because there are so many shows. However, WWE has done a great job of making it feel special after all these years because SummerSlam is generally regarded as one of the best PPVs of the year.

Kenta has officially signed with the WWE; his signing coming as part of a Hulk Hogan ‘contract announcement’ angle at the WWE Live Event in Osaka, Japan on Saturday. Hogan was the special ambassador who officiated the contract signature, with Jimmy Hart also taking part in the proceedings. A WWE statement now confirms that Kenta will train at the WWE Performance Centre in Florida, later becoming a part of the Nxt roster.

“Kenta is an incredible performer who brings the crowd to its feet when he steps into the ring,” said Paul Levesque, Executive Vice President, Talent, Creative and Live Events. “WWE’s signing of Kenta reflects our continued dedication to creating a diverse roster that appeals to our global fan base.”

With his recent triumph at WrestleMania XXX, Daniel Bryan has become one of the biggest and brightest stars in the wrestling industry. However, long before he signed with the WWE, Bryan had already made a name for himself as one of the most talented wrestlers in the game, with four star matches all over his resume. By the time he debuted on WWE television in early 2010 as a “rookie” on Nxt, Bryan had already been involved in more high caliber matches than many on the WWE roster at the time. When Brock Lesnar did the unthinkable and ended Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak, it left everyone in the arena, and everyone watching from the comfort of home, shocked and dismayed. Going into it, most of the WWE fans believed that Lesnar was going to end up being just another victim on Undertaker’s long list. Surely of all the people Undertaker has faced at WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar, a part-timer who comes and goes as he pleases, wouldn’t be the one to end the streak. Not even after Lesnar hit the third F5 did anyone believe he would get the three count.

But he did. When the referee hit the count of three, the fans didn’t know what to make of it; they were left in a confused state where every second felt like an hour, and it wasn’t until Justin Roberts declared Brock Lesnar the winner...

“You’re either Nexus or you’re against us,” was the motto of the original Nexus group, led by Wade Barrett. In what may have been one of the most shocking debuts on WWE Raw, eight Nxt rookies made their way to the ring on June 7th, 2010, to sabotage the main event of the night, and destroy everything in its sight.

Wade Barrett was the first to make his way down the ramp and cause a distraction during the match between WWE Champion John Cena and Cm Punk. From there we saw the seven other Nxt rookies make their way to the ring through the crowd, and over the barricade. This Nexus group would first attack Luke Gallows on the outside of the ring, followed by Cm Punk. All eight members would surround the ring, and methodically plan their attack on WWE Champion John Cena, who didn’t stand a chance.

WWE have been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism in the past few weeks even though it is louder than normal, some fans have been giving the company stick ever since it changed its rating from TV-14 to a PG rating back in 2008. While there are reasons for genuine complaints at WWE for “watering down” its product to change its target audience, the PG rated product has still produced plenty of good moments.

The recent Raw in Chicago provided WWE’s greatest pay-per-view event in months and it was just an episode of Raw. Thanks to the company fearing the “Hijack Raw” movement stemming from a combination of the missing hometown hero Cm Punk and general displeasure with the current product, WWE put on a fantastic show with very little not to enjoy. The Shield has come into the WWE with a bang, and they sure are fun to watch. I’ve been a big fan of everything I’ve seen of Seth Rollins aka Tyler Black, although admittedly I haven’t seen a ton of his stuff. Last night, on WWE Monday Night Raw, we learned that The Shield would take on The Undertaker, Kane and Daniel Bryan next week.

From the way things are going, The Shield could cement themselves as the biggest legitimate threat in the WWE in a long time. They have already established themselves with serious wins over the likes of John Cena, Sheamus, Ryback and Randy Orton. In the past 5 years or so, stables in the WWE don’t last very long. They either disappear quickly (The Corre) or get put to the side as a joke (3 Man Band). It’s interesting to see where this will go or end up, because they’re looking good so far.

Last night’s Monday Night Raw had one of the most incredible crowds in WWE history. I was lucky enough to be there. Whether it was the crowds response to an overall average WrestleMania or the electricity of the post-Mania show, this crowd was buzzing throughout the entire night. To be a part of it is something I’ll remember the rest of my life.

The WWE legend, who passed away after suffering a blood clot, will be laid to rest in his home state Alabama.

William Moody, better known by his stage name Paul Bearer, passed away at the age of 58 from a blood clot on March 5. The WWE announced his sudden death by releasing an official statement: “Moody made his WWE debut in 1991 as the manager of The Undertaker and went on to become a memorable part of WWE over the course of the next 20 years. Our deepest condolences go out to Moody’s family, friends and fans.”

Paul’s funeral will take place 10 a.m. March 9 at the St. Vincent Catholic Church in Mobile, Ala. The WWE star, best known as the spooky manager/”funeral director” for the wrestler The Undertaker, will be laid to rest after the ceremony at Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Heyman talks about the history that was witnessed at Night of Champions on Sunday as Cm Punk successfully defended his WWE Title against John Cena. The crowd boos Heyman as he admits the finish was controversial and says everyone is talking about it. Heyman calls out referee Chad Patton to the ring and out he does.

Heyman shows an image on the big screen of Cena pinning Punk with the bridge. Patton agrees that he made the right call last night. Heyman says he and Punk commend the referee for making the right decision. Heyman says a fan uploaded footage to YouTube of the pinfall but Cena enforced it to removed earlier today.

Justin Roberts is in the ring and introduces WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart to a huge pop from the crowd as he makes his first return in a WWE ring to Montreal for 15 years, since the infamous WWE Survivor Series 1997.

The crowd eventually calms down and allows Bret to speak. He thanks the fans for getting him through one of the darkest days of his life. WWE Champion Cm Punk’s music hits and out he comes.

Punk talks about Bret’s book and Punk says he doesn’t have the ego to ever write a book about himself. Punk asks what would have happened if he had wrestled Bret at the Survivor Series instead of Hbk. Bret says it wouldn’t have mattered because the fans know Bret would have tied up Punk like a pretzel in the Sharpshooter.

The show opens with Michael Cole on commentary by himself. He shows us pre-Raw footage where Jerry Lawler’s music played but he did not come out for commentary. Justin Roberts is in the ring and introduces the World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and out he comes. He talks about Chicago and says it’s time for Alberto Del Rio’s party to end. Last night’s WWE Raw SuperShow results from the Us Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Fans are still pouring into the arena as the show begins to air because of a fire that took place in the arena earlier. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler then introduce footage of the Raw set catching fire after a pyro glitch!

Cole begins the show with a video package look back at last week’s Raw 1,000th. The video runs for 5 minutes (well they do have 3 hours to fill every week now!) before WWE Champion Cm Punk makes his way to the ring with a good reaction.

Punk says he had a Raw moment that was bigger than most people’s WrestleMania moments last week. He needs to explain why he did that to The Rock. He says when Raw went off the air last week he had a bad taste left in his mouth.

On the 6th June 2010 7 relatively unknown names shocked the world of professional wrestling to its very core. The winner of Nxt season 1, Wade Barrett showed up on the stage during the John Cena Vs Cm Punk main event, much to everybody’s surprise. Then suddenly the rest of the Nxt rookies appeared around ringside. All of a sudden they charged the ring and laid waste to everybody in site.

Last night’s 1,000th episode of WWE’s Money Night Raw comes from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri with Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler on commentary.

The show kicks off with a new intro. Another video then plays that looks back at some of the memorable moments from the past 1,0000 episodes, including some of the saddest moments in the history of the show such as Eddie Guerrero’s tribute night. The video plays for four minutes with lots and lots of clips.

Vince McMahon kicks off the show from the middle of the ring. A “thank you Vince” chant starts and Vince welcomes us to Monday Night Raw and then introduces D-Generation X and the music plays as Shawn Michaels and Triple H comes to the ring.

WWE Money in the Bank PPV results from the Us Airways Center, in Phoenix, Arizona.

The pre-show for the PPV begins with Zack Ryder backstage with Santino Marella. Damien Sandow walks in and says he will win the World Heavyweight Title contract in the Money in the Bank ladder match ladder tonight.

a) WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth defeated Hunico & Camacho in a non-title match. Truth dropped Camacho on his head for the pinfall.

Josh Matthews talks to Chris Jericho backstage who says he will be considered The Greatest of All Time after his performance in the Money in the Bank match tonight.

Daniel Bryan is interviewed backstage and asked about the wedding proposals on Raw. Bryan says Aj is his future wife, not his ex-girlfriend and that she is an honest and caring woman. He will emerge tonight with the WWE Title and with Aj’s heart.

Justin Roberts welcomes John Laurinaitis to the ring.

He says Cena embarrassed him last week by calling his names, so he lost his temper and went into a fit of destruction. Laurinaitis says Brock Lesnar injured Cena’s arm and last week he injured his pride. He will finish the job at WWE Over The Limit and that the WWE Board of Directors welcomed the match as tough but fair. Laurinaitis asked that Cena not be here live tonight so he can have therapy on his injury and no excuses when he loses at Over The Limit.

Laurinaitis says Cena will be here live via satellite for an interview with Michael Cole later. Cena will apologise for making fun of his voice and he explains how he was injured whilst working in Japan and...

Last night’s WWE Raw results from Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.

The show opened with a look back at John Cena vs Brock Lesnar from WWE Extreme Rules and Cena’s much talked about post-match comments.

Justin Roberts introduces John Laurinaitis who walks to the ring smiling. He says Extreme Rules changed WWE in one night and he did for People Power. Fans should thank him for bringing in the most dangerous athlete in WWE’s history, Brock Lesnar. Out Lesnar comes.

Lesnar shakes Laurinaitis’ hand and is booed. Lesnar says he brought the pain last night, just as he said he would. Laurinaitis speaks but Triple H’s music plays and out he comes in a suit.

Triple H shakes the hand of Laurinaitis and offers Lesnar his hand and he takes it. Triple H says he is here to do what Johnny doesn’t have the guts to do.

The Big News: Triple H declined The Undertaker’s WrestleMania offer but received a message from the Deadman who insisted that their feud was not yet over. Meanwhile Chris Jericho cut a lengthy promo labelling everyone and Cm Punk in particular as Jericho wannabes before winning a six pack challenge against his upcoming Elimination Chamber opponents to guarantee that he will be the final entrant inside the unrelenting structure.

Triple H came out to start the show. First of all he confirmed that last week he was about to fire John Laurinaitis and now hopes that the board will see fit to get rid of a man who has no redeeming qualities. At the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view, Daniel Bryan was crowned the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, to the chagrin of some and to the surprise of almost all. Moments earlier, Big Show had just beaten an injured Mark Henry to claim the belt, before a vicious attack from The World’s Strongest Man left Show down and out, granting Bryan the chance to sweep in, cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and take the belt from Big Show’s giant paw.

It was a shock, not least of all because Daniel Bryan had said all along that he would cash in his briefcase at WrestleMania, determined to have his moment on the biggest stage of them all, and to do the honourable thing and make sure his opponent could see him coming.

WWE’s official website has announced that former Diva Lilian Garcia is to return to WWE as a full-time announcer on the SmackDown brand. WWE.com have a new video on their site with Garcia that was taped backstage from last night’s Raw in Tampa, Florida.

Garcia then confirmed the news on Twitter;

“Yes! It’s true!! All happening so fast! I am returning to WWE as the SmackDown Announcer!! So excited!! And video trailer out tomro! Big wk”

Garcia debuted with the WWE in August 1999 and became a staple of the new WWE for the next decade and she was certainly easier on the eye than Howard Finkel!

By 2009, Garcia became the first WWE diva to stay with the company for a decade and on the 21st September edition, just one month after 10 years since her debut, she announced her last edition of Raw from Little Rock, Arkansas.

WWE Raw Review - 28/11/11

The Big News: Cm Punk defeated Alberto Del Rio to defend the WWE title, Roddy Piper tried to slap some emotion out of John Cena on a special edition of The Piper’s Pit and Daniel Bryan shut up Mark Henry with a kick to show his mettle for their upcoming World Heavyweight Championship Steel Cage match tonight on Smackdown.

In a Nutshell: A good night for pure wrestling fans with nearly 40 minutes of in ring action.

Piper’s Pit with John Cena opened the show. Piper talked about how his career was defined by crowd energy whether they cheered him and made him do good things or booed him and made him do bad things. With that in mind he called out John Cena and showed him the difference between the positive reception that greeted the names he dropped in Austin, Bret and The Rock...

WWE 12 will finally hit stores on Tuesday (in the U.S.) and on Friday (in the U.K.) and after some stellar reviews in the last few days, I don’t remember being this excited about a wrestling video game in years. IGN’s 9.0 scoring review mentioned the gameplay was ‘No Mercy like’ several times and there is actually a combat system here that makes sense and isn’t just a flashy presentation with no substance to the graphics. But then they still have the graphics and all the cool modes and the first time, Thq’s video game franchise feels like it belongs on the shelf alongside the mastered EA sports franchises of FIFA and Madden. IGN overall called it ‘amazing’.

Over the past few months, Thq have teased us as to what wrestlers will be included in the game and now on the eve of release we have a final figure.

The Big News: In something of a game changer it was established that Rock and Cena would now face Miz and Truth in a standard tag bout at Survivor Series. Meanwhile Punk vs Del Rio was teased for the WWE title and Kevin Nash hospitalised Triple H with a couple of brutal sledgehammer shots.
