If you’re unfamiliar with Nathan W. Pyle’s Strange Planet comics, they usually go something like this: Two unnamed balloon-headed aliens engage in a brief chat about whatever they’re doing. The activities themselves are usually mundane — hiking, snacking, petting a cat. What’s odd is the way they talk about them, with a frankness that so much of human language and culture has been designed to avoid.
“We have things but we have hidden them,” a couple announce to guests entering their just-cleaned home. “Now feel completely helpless,” a dentist tells a reclining patient. Suntans are “star damage,” a kiss is a “mouthpush,” tea is “hot leaf liquid.” The cleverest strips turn the banal alien, and occasionally tap into the bigger fears undergirding all these deceptions and distractions: “Life will be full of unpleasant sensations,” a parent gently reprimands a child refusing to eat their “leaves” (i.e.

Updated with statement: After a story this week from Deadline’s sister publication Rolling Stone detailed allegations against Oscar-winner F. Murray Abraham, the actor has issued a statement on the matter, the text of which Deadline has confirmed with his representative.
“This is a sincere and deeply felt apology,” reads Abraham’s statement.
It goes on to reference Lionsgate’s decision last year not to bring him back for Season 3 of Mythic Quest. “Though never my intention to offend anyone, I told jokes, nothing more, that upset some of my colleagues and as a result lost a great job with wonderful people.”
It continues, “I have grown in my understanding from this experience, and I hope they will forgive me.”
Previously on April 19: The Mythic Quest team will be one key member short, with F. Murray Abraham leaving the series before it returns for Season 3.

Almost one year to the day that F. Murray Abraham‘s sudden and mysterious Mythic Quest exit was announced, a new report claims the 83-year-old Oscar winner was fired from the Apple TV+ series due to sexual misconduct.
According to TVLine’s sister pub Rolling Stone, the White Lotus actor was at the center of two alleged incidents at Mythic Quest, the first of which resulted in a warning (to steer clear of one of the series’ female cast members) and the second of which led to his dismissal.

F. Murray Abraham’s sudden exit from “Mythic Quest” last April was due to sexual misconduct complaints, according to a Monday report from Rolling Stone.
Although the exact nature of his behavior was not detailed, a production source said that Abraham was “given a warning and told to keep away from some of the show’s actresses.” After a second complaint, series creator and star Rob McElhenney opted to let him go, Rolling Stone reports.
“It’s a bummer to not have Murray in this season,” McElhenney told Variety at the time of saying goodbye to Abraham’s character, sci-fi author C.W. Longbottom. “But we recognize that C.W. is a beloved character and obviously a huge part of the show. So, we made sure that we have a really fitting tribute to him. We definitely address it in a big way.”

Mythic Quest Spin-Off Mere Mortals Will Have 'A Lot Of Interplay' With The Original Show [Exclusive]
The world of "Mythic Quest" is expanding. This week, Apple TV+ shared the news that the wild gaming industry comedy about a video game company led by dysfunctional genius duo Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) and Ian (Rob McElhenney) has garnered a spin-off, "Mere Mortals." The new eight-episode series will also be set within the world of "Mythic Quest," and will apparently take inspiration from the show's critically acclaimed one-off episodes, telling specific stories about Mq fans, players, and even employees at the company.
This week, I spoke with series co-creator Megan Ganz about the new show, which will be headed up by "Mythic Quest" writers John Howell Harris, Katie McElhenney, and Ashly Burch (who also plays Rachel in the flagship series). "It's really early stages," Ganz said. "All I can say is that it's going to be run by three of our best writers from the 'Mythic Quest' room.

Mythic Quest Co-Creator Megan Ganz On Poppy And Ian's Big Origin Story Episode [Exclusive Interview]
"Mythic Quest" has done it again. The Apple TV+ series about a team of dysfunctional video game designers spends the majority of each season as a geeky, raucous workplace comedy, but at least once per season, it switches gears completely. In one half-hour detour per year, without fail, the show morphs into a character-driven tearjerker.
In its debut season, the show gave us "A Dark Quiet Death," a magnificent one-off starring Cristin Miloti and Jake Johnson as a couple who fall in and out of love while creating the video game of their dreams. Season 2 shared the origin story of F. Murray Abraham's C.W. Longbottom (Josh Brener in flashback), a writer who was never quite able to live up to his own expectations for himself. Now, in its third season, the show has just delivered yet again with "Sarian," an episode that shows audiences how Ian (Rob McElhenney...

Mythic Quest is getting a brand new offshoot, Apple TV+ announced Thursday.

Warning: Spoilers follow for the Season 3 premiere of Apple TV+’s “Mythic Quest.”
With F. Murray Abraham traipsing off to Sicily — he’s in the latest season of “The White Lotus” — he won’t be seen walking the halls of “Mythic Quest” as the critically acclaimed comedy returns for a third season this Friday on Apple TV+.
Abraham played C.W. The popularity of online gaming communities is at an all-time high, but it's not often that we think about the real people who bring the games we love to life. Created by Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" fame, the Apple TV+ series "Mythic Quest" tells the stories of the folks responsible for the hours of entertainment and escapism enjoyed by millions of players across the world. Set at the headquarters of an extremely popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (Mmorpg), "Mythic Quest" explores the lives of a team of programmers, testers, and executives while they grapple with the gaming industry and how their personal lives intertwine.
The series has already released two seasons and a fantastic pair of early pandemic-era quarantine specials, and with season 3 just around the corner, now is the perfect time to catch up on all things "Mythic Quest.

David Brittlesbee (David Hornsby) can never catch a break. The underappreciated executive producer of the game Mythic Quest is played by writer and executive producer David Hornsby, and while Hornsby's series is consistently one of the best Apple TV+ has to offer, Brittlesbee seems trapped in an ever-turning wheel of fortune, with his nemesis, Brad (Danny Pudi), turning the crank.
"Mythic Quest" returns this week with its third season, and it's one that sees a lot of changes coming to Mq headquarters. When "Mythic Quest" returns to Apple TV+ this week for its third season, the creative minds behind the show's massively popular video game will be tackling something new: their own company. "Mythic Quest" season 2 ended with the gamer geek version of a mic drop when Mq's egotistical creative director, Ian, left his baby behind to head into uncharted creative waters with lead engineer turned co-creative director, Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao).
The pair make a hilarious and engaging odd couple, one whose roller coaster of a creative partnership often feels as passionate as a romantic relationship, for better and worse. In the new season, they've left Mq behind to form GrimPop, a new company housed in a sterile, futuristic white office space held together by game tester-turned-programmer Dana (Imani Hakim). Together, the trio form what may not exactly be a dream team, but is certainly a team with big dreams.

"Mythic Quest" season 3 is almost here, and a new trailer for the Apple TV+ gaming industry comedy just dropped today. From the looks of it, the team at Mythic Quest -- and Ian (Rob McElhenney) and Poppy's (Charlotte Nicdao) new company, Grimpop -- are just as entertainingly dysfunctional as ever, only now with 100 more Joe Manganiello. And 100 less F. Murray Abraham.

The first trailer for "Mythic Quest" season 3 is here, and it looks like the show's about to enter uncharted territory – and maybe some hilariously charted territory, too. The Apple TV+ workplace comedy will return in the fall for a new batch of episodes that sees cocky fantasy Mmorpg creative director Ian (Rob McElhenney) and stubborn former lead engineer Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) heading out on their own to co-create the game Poppy wanted to design last season, without having to compromise with corporate overlords.

Apple today unveiled a first-look teaser for the third season of its critically acclaimed workplace comedy Mythic Quest, which is slated to premiere on Apple TV+ this fall.
The series created by Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Megan Ganz follows a group of video game developers tasked with building worlds, molding heroes and creating legends, but the most hard-fought battles don’t occur in the game — they happen in the office. While its second season watched as the company’s creative director Ian Grimm (McElhenney) and co-creative director Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicdao) departed to pursue their own venture, today’s teaser promised that this decision has actually “changed nothing.”
This time around, Ian and Poppy will continue to navigate the gaming world and their partnership at the newly formed GrimPop Studios, with Dana (Imani Hakim) being forced to play mediator to her bosses’ incessant bickering. Back at Mythic Quest, David...

Key creatives behind Invasion, For All Mankind, See and Mythic Quest stopped by Comic-Con today to tease the upcoming seasons of their Apple series—with Foundation‘s David S. Goyer chiming in via an onset video.
Speaking on behalf of the former alt-history space race series, recently renewed for a fourth season, was co-creator and exec producer Ronald D. Moore, who teed up “fairly seismic events” to come as the series winds down toward its Season 3 end, which will “propel pus in ways large and small into Season 4.”
Repping alien takeover series Invasion was co-creator, writer and EP Simon Kinberg, who equated the show’s upcoming season to “Act 2 of a movie where sh*t goes crazy.” Whereas Season 1 served as “the build” to the invasion,” he continued, “the second is the full-on action of the battle for Earth that I had always wanted for the show.”

Apple TV+ is heading down to San Diego Comic-Con for the first time, with a huge spotlight on its genre series including See, Severance, For All Mankind, Mythic Quest, Invasion and Foundation.

I love making lists. Plenty of critics bemoan their annual duty of ranking the year’s best TV shows — and rightfully so. Indignation is the only rational response to being asked to weigh your personal subjective opinions against professional objective analysis in order to winnow 500 new programs into a hierarchical list of the 10 “best “shows. If your picks are too predictable, did you dig deep enough? If they’re too obscure, are you too far removed from popular culture? And can any one person really have seen every top-tier series released over a 365-day span?
But lists, especially Top 10 lists, are also a gift. Not only do they provide an excuse to look back and organize your thoughts on the year that was, but they help audiences find more, better TV — whether it’s by discovering diamonds in the rough or giving hastily labeled pebbles a second look. The ubiquity...

Apple TV’s ambitious sci-fi epic Foundation, premiering this Thursday, brings Isaac Asimov’s seminal trilogy to screen almost 70 years after the first novel was published.
The 10-episode first season centers on Dr. Hari Seldon (played by Jared Harris) and his efforts to preserve the future of civilization after predicting the fall of the Galactic Empire. David S. Goyer, who created the show and serves as showrunner, worked to ensure that the visually stunning series — which spans an entire millennium — didn’t feel like another Star Wars, which itself drew inspiration from Asimov’s books.

It might be time to find the broom because a possible sweep is on the horizon. Jason Sudeikis, star and co-creator of Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso,” is on track to win all five major TV acting awards for one season for his portrayal of the show’s leading man, a relentlessly positive American football coach who takes over as manager of a failing Premier League soccer team. Should the former “Saturday Night Live” star succeed in sweeping the awards for the show’s first season, he will become just the fifth person in history to complete the difficult feat, and he’ll be the first man to do it.
Sarah Paulson first completed the sweep by winning the Television Critics Association, Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice and Screen Actors Guild Awards during the 2016-17 season for her turn as Marcia Clark on FX’s limited series “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

You better “believe”! “Ted Lasso” continues to pull in numerous awards nominations.
