The Critics Choice Awards are making a big move, finding a new home on E!, after previously airing on The CW since 2018.

Despite the network change, one thing remains the same: Chelsea Handler is back as host for the third consecutive year.

The Critics Choice Association (Cca) announced the news, revealing that the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards will air on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

The event will feature a one-hour preshow — typical for E! — giving fans a chance to catch the red carpet buzz before the ceremony kicks off.

This year, viewers can enjoy the entire experience without changing channels, making it an all-in-one event for fans of the glitz and glamour.

Chelsea Handler is heading back to E! as she’s returning to host the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, airing Sunday, Jan. 12.

The 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards will have a new broadcast home, teaming up with E! and Peacock for the 2025 awards show. Comedian, television host, and bestselling author Chelsea Handler, who absolutely crushed it hosting the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, has agreed to return as host.

“Returning for the third year to host the Critics Choice Awards has been made even sweeter knowing it will now air on E!,” said Chelsea Handler. “I feel like I’m returning to my birthplace.”

The awards show will air live on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 7pm Et/Pt on E!, and will be available to stream the following day on Peacock. The star-studded event returns to the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica for the 2025 ceremony.

The awards, which will mark their 30th anniversary in 2025, will air on E! on Jan. 12. The Critics Choice Association struck a new deal with the NBCUniversal-owned cable network after the past seven telecasts aired on The CW.

The Hollywood Creative Alliance has ended its defamation lawsuit against the Critics Choice Association, as both sides announced Friday that they had reached an “amicable agreement.” In a joint announcement between Cca CEO Joey Berlin and Hca CEO Scott Menzel, the two sides said that the Critics Choice Association will once again allow its members to also be a part of the Hollywood Creative Alliance.

Also, Berlin has joined Hca’s advisory committee to “provide guidance on the best practices in awards show production and not-for-profit organization management,” and Hca has agreed to advise Cca on “best accessibility practices at its events.”

In January, the Hollywood Creative Alliance (which was formerly known as Hollywood Critics Association) sued the Critics Choice Association after that org told its members that they had to resign from the Hca in order to stay members of the Cca.

Exclusive: The 2025 Critics Choice Awards will not be airing exclusively on the CW. The broadcast network has opted not to renew the awards show’s current option for next year, sources tell Deadline. However, it is still possible to see the ceremony on the CW in 2025 as the network is looking for a path to continue to carry it, shared with another network or a streamer, I hear. There was a similar arrangement for the 2022 Critics Choice Awards, simulcast on the CW and TBS.

The 28th Critics’ Choice Awards took place on Jan. 15 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, and stars from television and film hit the red carpet.

Members of the Critics Choice Association (myself included) showered lots of love on the bizarre yet entertaining Everything Everywhere All At Once. Everything Everywhere topped the list of the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards film nominees, picking up 14 nominations including Best Picture, Best Comedy, Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), and two in the Best Supporting Actress (Stephanie Hsu and Jamie Lee Curtis) category.

Steven Spielberg’s most personal film to date, The Fabelmans, earned 11 nominations and finds the filmmaker back in the race for Best Director and Best Picture. Michelle Williams earned a Best Actress nomination, and Paul Dano and Judd Hirsch took spots in the Best Supporting Actor category. The film’s lead actor, Gabriel Labelle, is nominated in the Best Young Actor/Actress category.

Everything Everywhere All at Once leads the film nominations for the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards, which were announced on Wednesday.

The film starring Michelle Yeoh earned 14 nominations, including best picture, best comedy, best actress for Yeoh, best supporting actor for Ke Huy Quan and best supporting actress nominations for Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert were nominated in the best director and best original screenplay categories as well.

A star-studded lineup is set for the Critics Choice Association’s fifth annual Celebration of Black Cinema and Television, taking place on Monday, December 5, at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
