The next time you go to tell someone to know their role and shut their mouth, you might want to think again, lest The Rock drops a legal People’s Elbow on you. That’s right, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson now owns the intellectual properties and trademarks for an extensive series of one-liners, quips, nicknames, and more. What do you think about th–It doesn’t matter what you think about that!
In new filings, it was revealed that Tko Group Holdings made the IPs and trademarks part of a deal that named The Rock a member of its board of directors. So, what’s included in that contract? Pretty much everything you would have ever associated with Dwayne Johnson’s in-ring persona, including monikers The Rock and Rocky Maivia, the name he made his 1996 debut under. There are also other names associated directly with the icon, such as The Brahma Bull,...

Dwayne Johnson now officially owns title to the sobriquet “The most electrifying man in sports and entertainment.”
The actor and entertainment mogul, who broke out as a WWE star two decades ago, has gained rights to a number of nicknames, insults and catchphrases from his time in the ring in the 90s and early 2000s — including “Candy Ass,” “Jabroni,” and “If you smell what The Rock is cooking.”
The transfer of the intellectual-property rights to the names and phrases to Johnson comes under his deal to join the board of directors of Tko Group Holdings, the company formed by Endeavor that merged WWE and the UFC.
As announced last month, Johnson has the rights to his famous ring name, “The Rock.” In its 10-k filing Feb. 27 with the SEC, Tko revealed two dozen additional names and taglines — previously the property of WWE — that are now in Johnson’s control.

The Biggest Party of the Summer (or whatever they are calling it now) is upon us, and this year’s card is a pretty hefty one. The Undertaker returns to seek revenge on Brock Lesnar, John Cena will continue his run to Ric Flair’s record by rolling over Seth Rollins, Cesaro and Kevin Owens will have the match of the night and Titus O’Neill will come in like a house on fire.
The opening bout of any pay-per-view is vital, as it sets the tone for what is about to come. So what of the 27 SummerSlam events of history? What matches opened these shows, and how did they fare in setting up the rest of the night? There have been some classics, there have been some duds, but they’ve all served a purpose.
Here are the 27 opening matches of previous SummerSlams, carefully ranked from best to Chris Benoit.

2004 was a pretty bad year all-round for WWE. Business was falling and, creatively, the company was definitely struggling. Worse, for hardcore fans, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were supplanted as champions by Triple H and Jbl and then shunted back down the card, never again to truly enter the main event scene.
2005 was a much better year for WWE. Deciding to focus on elevating promising up-and-comers like John Cena and Batista, WWE was preparing for the future. It was a decision that definitely paid off, since Cena and Batista continued to headline WWE for years to come.
In the ring WWE produced more great matches in 2005 than they did in 04. Highlights included the brutal and bloody Hell in a Cell match between Batista and Triple H, the first two PPV outings between Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels and the lengthy series between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero.

Tna gets a lot of flack for taking talent WWE has fired. But they definitely don’t get the appreciation they deserve for building their own stars. Guys like Bobby Roode, Aj Styles, James Storm, Austin Aries, Samoa Joe, Magnus, and Eric Young have all been to the top of the mountain in Tna and have been great main eventers. Granted, some of the talent have made it big on the indies but Tna helped make them a household name and made them more familiar to the mainstream wrestling audience.
Tna also has a knack for taking a talent WWE has, some would say, misused, and make them into something you want to see. Take EC3 for example. Relegated to being a low card guy in WWE, he comes to Tna and shows he is worthy of the main event slot and worthy of a World Championship. Taryn Terrell...

This was a special week in WWE, as I’d heard something I thought I’d never hear again: Rene Dupree and Orlando Jordan’s names spoken on TV! Good for them!
In other wrestling news this week, Nxt: R Evolution has already embarrassed the yet-to-air Tables, Ladders and Chairs and (sigh) Stairs. If only Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville had been working in a stairs match instead then we would have seen a real classic!
Meanwhile, The Ascension had their first vignette on SmackDown. Too bad they lost all of their most recent matches in Nxt. Is that how promotions work? And on SmackDown, we finally got a glimpse into how wrestlers prepare for matches as John Cena had two pieces of paper with the words “Game Plan” written on them. Good thing the heels didn’t steal that and learn all of their secrets like…um…...

It was another crazy week in the wide world of wrestling. Adam Rose turned his back on a man in a bunny costume, Cesaro was fed to Ryback, and Renee Young decided to dress up as a zombie Native American for Halloween, because being insensitive in WWE is always a good career move! If you don’t believe me, just ask Michael Cole (calling Josh Matthews a gay slur on Twitter), Jbl (once insinuated the former governor of New Jersey who is a homosexual likes little boys) and Michael Hayes (Vince McMahon’s favorite old-school racist). Renee, I thought you were different!
In the most confusing and horribly dated statement of the week, Michael Cole said that The Bunny “Twerking” looked like Charlie Chaplin. How does that make any sense? Do Cole and Jbl have a weekly competition to come up with the more outdated entertainment reference? Hey guys,...

Watch and critique How I Met Your Mothers's gay jokes, Dolph Lundgren's still scary, what is Ana Wintour wearing, and what is J.J. Abrams up to?
The New York Post has a somewhat schizophrenic report from the premiere of James Franco’s Saturday Night. The report says a reporter asked something about James’ sexuality, and his publicist freaked out, but later James was joking about it with Will Forte, who he made out with on Saturday Night Live. I’m prone to thinking James could care less what people think about him.
AfterElton.com reader Jc tips us to a new song by The Temptations called “Change Has Come” that opens with an inclusive message on race, creed, and sexual orientation. Considering their market and age, it’s pretty cool, and you can listen here.

Plus, a surprise director for Avengers, Bill O'Reilly does right when he doesn't have to, Toy Story 3's Ken gets detailed, and Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure!
April Fool's Day Disclaimer: I've done my best to separate real news from fake news today, but well, sometimes it's not completely obvious. Below the Video Meme you'll find a brief roundup of some of the pranks the net has seen today.
I haven’t watched (professional) wrestling since age 4. I remember a faux gay wedding making the news a couple years back, but on Monday night, we arrived in the ring in true form. Bisexual wrestler Orlando Jordan hit the ring as part of Spike TV’s Tna Impact. Openly bisexual since 2006, this was his first major outing on television. You can watch the episode at Spike.TV. Kudos to him, Spike, and the WWE – it was handled with as much grace as anything in professional wrestling.
