[on why he initially trained as a policeman] The only shining light in my family was my uncle. He was head of the foreigners police in Berlin and he prevented my then budding racism. He knew a lot of Turkish people and dragged me along through their shops in Kreuzberg. I thought this was great. He was an idol for me. I thought if I became a policeman I could become as cool as him.
