Update: It looks like Christopher McDonald was right about Adam Sandler working on the script for Happy Gilmore. Sandler’s fave co-star and longtime pal Drew Barrymore confirmed, in a clip from today’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, that the sequel is indeed happening. “I want it. I need it. And I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison,” says Barrymore, adding later, “I’ll just say this, from my source, that it is in process.”

Barrymore famously starred with Sandler in three movies, The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates and Blended. The two have remained close over the years, with Sandman frequently turning up on her show. While he’s mostly focused on drama recently, including the recent Netflix film Spaceman, Happy Gilmore 2 would likely be warmly received by fans, especially if co-stars Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen return.

It is these stereotypes and tropes that are often played on when bingo is shown on the silver screen or portrayed in television shows. This has led to some of the best scenes from some of the best-known movies, including:

Cocoon

As a classic of its time, Cocoon followed the story of a retirement community that has been infiltrated by aliens that are giving the residents a new lease on life. The protagonists, Joe, Ben, and Arthur, are swimming in the pool one day when they come across alien lifeforms that harbour the power to rejuvenate themselves.

In 1979, Peter Falk and the late great Alan Arkin made the perfect odd couple in the classic action comedy The In-Laws. It even spawned a not-bad remake with Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks in 2003. The difference between those films, and a bit of an attempt to do something similar in the cleverly titled The Out-Laws, which starts streaming on Netflix today, is that those movies were genuinely funny –particularly the Arkin-Falk teaming. But this one, also a kind of Meet the Parents on steroids, relies far too heavily on nonstop and incessant action scenes to carry us through its 95-minute running time.

The fault here does not lie with its cast, which is pretty impressive overall. Basically this is a comedic vehicle for Adam Devine, who not only stars but also helped develop the Ben Zazove and Evan Turner script as well as producing with Happy Madison’s Adam Sandler and Allen Covert.

Meeting your partner’s parents can be challenging. Regardless of your confidence in your relationship, a wrong move with the parental units can spell disaster for your future. For Adam Devine‘s Owen Browning, he never banked on his fiancee’s parents being accomplished bank robbers. This hurdle is a tricky jump for Owen, a by-the-books bank manager, and all-around goofball. The only reason Murder Mystery 2 or even its predecessor exists is as a star vehicle in the most literal sense of the word. The recipe is simple: Sign Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, put them in glamorous locations with lots of action and schtick, and then set it loose on a global platform – Netflix – that can easily sell these kinds of recognizable shenanigans in all points of the world. It worked in 2019, and it works again now, only this time with the action and stunts so ramped up they almost overtake the plot, such as it is. The template and characters were firmly established in the original which had our stars caught up in a murder in which they were suspects, but eventually save the day before the entire cast of characters wind up dead in the process.

In the film, which hit the streamer on June 8, Sandler plays a basketball scout who finds a remarkable player, with a rocky past, abroad and brings him to the U.S. without his team’s approval. The critically acclaimed film is directed by Jeremiah Zagar and also stars NBA player Juancho Hernangómez, Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Kenny Smith, Anthony Edwards and Tobias Harris. Adam Sandler brings his love of basketball to the screen in the new Netflix original film “Hustle,” a trailer for which was released by Netflix on Tuesday morning.

In the film, Sandler plays Stanley Sugarman, a travel weary scout for the Philadelphia 76ers who dreams of being a coach himself one day but is stuck on the road searching for unknown talent. His search takes him to Spain where he discovers Bo Cruz (NBA player Juancho Hernangómez), an incredible streetball player with a troubled past. Together, Sugarman and Cruz aim to prove that underdogs can come out on top.

The inspirational drama is directed by Jeremiah Zagar (“We the Animals”) with a screenplay by Taylor Materne (“NBA 2K20”) and Will Fetters (“A Star Is Born”).

Netflix released a teaser trailer for Adam Sandler’s basketball movie “Hustle,” premiering on the streamer on June 10.

Produced by LeBron James, the film follows a washed up basketball scout (Sandler) as he discovers a star athlete (Juancho Hernangómez) with a rocky past on the street ball courts of Spain. Back in the U.S., the pair struggle against all odds to prove that they have what it takes to make it in the NBA.

The skit, part of Barrymore’s new talk show “The Drew Barrymore Show,” finds the pair right where they left off at the end of the beloved rom-com. Lucy (Barrymore), who has Amnesia, begins every day with a videotape from her husband, Henry (Sandler), explaining everything she needs to know about her life.

But in the year 2020, reality feels suspiciously like a sci-fi movie.

The story follows a New York cop (Sandler) and his wife (Aniston), who become prime suspects in the murder of an elderly billionaire while vacationing in Europe. Arterton is starring as an actress with a secret, while Stamp is playing the billionaire tycoon who is murdered, and Kani will portray his best friend.

Also joining the cast is Shioli Kutsuna (“Deadpool 2”), David Walliams (“Little Britain”), Adeel Akhtar (“The Big Sick”), Olafur Darri Olafsson (“The Meg”), and Dany Boon. As previously announced, Luke Evans and Luis Gerardo Mendez are also on board.

French comic Dany Boon and Gemma Arterton are among a raft of talent to join Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston and Luke Evans on the Netflix comedy Murder Mystery, which commences production this week.

The ensemble cast includes Luis Gerardo Mendez, Shioli Kutsuna, David Walliams, Adeel Akhtar, John Kani, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Terence Stamp.

Filming has kicked off this week in Montreal and will take place in locations throughout Europe ahead of a 2019 worldwide release.

Many eyebrows were raised when comedian Adam Sandler was signed by Netflix on a three-picture deal in what was the subscription services biggest deal at the time. The company has expanded even more since he signed, but the marriage between the two has been a happy one thus far.

While critics haven’t been particularly forgiving with Sandler’s Netflix roster so far (The Ridiculous 6, The Do Over and Sandy Wexler, the latter of which debuted earlier this month) and as such the star has now extended his deal which will see the star make a further four films for them – and he may have secured his next film. Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are set to star in Netflix's The Week Of, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The Grown Ups actors will reunite in the comedy directed by frequent Happy Madison collaborator Robert Smigel, who co-wrote the script with Sandler. It centers on the week before a wedding in which their characters' kids get married. The film will begin production in Long Island, New York this summer, and debut on Netflix globally in 2018.

The “Lawrence of Arabia” of half-assed Adam Sandler comedies, “Sandy Wexler” is an epic period piece that spans 10 years and 131 minutes of mildly amusing mediocrity before climaxing with a Rob Schneider cameo where he plays a Middle Eastern man in full brownface — it’s awful, and yet it’s almost objectively Sandler’s best movie since “Funny People.”

Of course, quality has never been a very useful metric for measuring Sandler’s work, and that’s especially true now that we’re knee-deep in an eight-picture Netflix deal which guarantees that, for the foreseeable future, we can expect new Sandler films to arrive with all the predictably of seasonal allergies. Once upon a time, he was a cottage industry — now, he’s an assembly line.

But if “Sandy Wexler” is only the slightest bit funnier than “The Do-Over” or “The Ridiculous Six,” the third of Sandler’s streaming offerings is...

He’s not made this one alone. He’s reunited with The Do-Over director Steven Brill for a start, and he’s co-written the screenplay with Paul Sado and Dan Bulla. In terms of casting,, you’ll find Jennifer Hudson, Rob Schneider, Kevin James, Arsenio Hall Terry Crews and Lamorne Morris picking up paycheques on this one.

The film will land on Netflix in April, and we’ve got a trailer and a synopsis.

Netflix isn't the only one Adam Sandler is working for now as the comedian and his Happy Madison Productions label have signed on to write, produce and star in a new untitled animated project for Stx Entertainment.

The company is currently developing an animated motion picture based on the beloved Uglydoll toy brand, this will Not be that but it is expected to be a family targeted IP. Sandler's two "Hotel Transylvania" films have generated more than $825 million worldwide.

Adam Fogelson, Chairman of the Stx Entertainment Motion Picture Group, says in a statement: "As we continue to grow our company, the family arena is of critical importance to Stx Entertainment and we are tremendously excited to have Adam Sandler and Happy Madison developing projects with us for the global animation market. Bleecker Street to partner with Netflix to distribute Cary Fukunaga’s Beasts Of No Nation theatrically.

Netflix has announced that the rollout of its original film initiative will begin with Beasts Of No Nation, the new film written and directed by Cary Fukunaga (True Detective, Sin Nombre) starring Idris Elba (Luther, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom).
