Richard Clement

He was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to screen-writing.

In 1975, set up independent production company WitzEnd with long-term writing partner Ian La Frenais and producer Allan McKeown. In 1988, it transmuted into SelecTV, which in 1996 became part of Thames Television.

Writing partner of Ian La Frenais for his entire career, beginning with British television's The Likely Lads, continuing through cult films like Otley, The Commitments and Across The Universe, and continuing to (as this is written in 2020) the year 2017.
