Shucked, the pun-filled, corn-fed comedy that surprised critics (favorably) and early on seemed destined to become a sleeper hit, will play its final performance at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre on Sunday, January 14, 2024, producers have announced.
Shucked, which received nine Tony Award nominations last spring and eventually won one (for featured actor Alex Newell), began previews March 8 and opened April 4. When it closed on January 14, it will have played 28 preview performances and 327 regular performances.
Producers Mike Bosner and Jason Owen announced the closing. The musical will begin a North American tour in Fall 2024, with productions planned for London’s West End (at the Cameron Mackintosh Theater beginning winter 2025) and Sydney, Australia, (Spring 2026 with producing partner Suzanne Jones).
Producers reportedly have floated the idea of finding another Broadway venue after the show vacates the Nederlander, but finding a house in what looks to be a crowded Spring season will be tough. Still,...

In 2023, anti-drag laws are being debated in at least 14 states, including Tennessee, the first to officially ban “adult cabaret performances” — which includes male or female impersonations — in public spaces or in the presence of children. But in 1980, drag formed the centerpiece of a new ABC sitcom.
Bosom Buddies is notable for being the first big break for Tom Hanks, then 24, and paired him with relative newcomer Peter Scolari, then 25. They played Kip Wilson and Henry Desmond, respectively — two pals who assume female alter-egos named Buffy and Hildegard in order to live in an affordable women’s hotel in New York City. The show was conceived almost by accident by Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett, the duo behind a raft of 1970s hit sitcoms including Happy Days, Mork & Mindy and Laverne & Shirley.
Buddies was pitched to ABC as a male version of the latter, reminiscent of “a sophisticated Billy Wilder comedy.

It's time to say goodbye to the Tanners...again. After five seasons, Fuller House is ending its run on Netflix, with viewers once again saying goodbye to the beloved Tanner family. Guess we know what happened to predictability now? The successful sequel series premiered in 2016 and centered on a grown-up and recently widowed DJ (Candace Cameron Bure) moving back into the old family home with her three children along with little sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and childhood Bff Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) by her side for support. Sound familiar? Helmed by the same creative team behind the hit '90s series, including creator Jeff Franklin and executive producer Robert L. Boyett, the series also...

Netflix has released first teaser for the revival series Fuller House, and this time with actual people. The entire cast (aside from the Olsen Twins) came together for this one, showing just how full this house will be again.
I grew up on the original series, which I’m sure is still watchable today when compared to the insufferable Disney garbage we’re given, so it’s pretty surreal to see that living room and hear that music again.
The new episodes will focus mainly on D.J., Kimmy Gibbler, and Stephanie as adults. Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, Lori Louglin, and the one and John Stamos are poised to make guest appearances on the Netflix sitcom. Series creator Jeff Franklin is executive producing the revival alongside Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett. Remember those names from the end credits of nearly every episode? Of course you do.

Could Michelle Tanner make an appearance on Netflix’s “Full House” sequel series “Fuller House,” after all? Maybe, according to Ted Sarandos. “The Olsen twins are teetering whether or not they’ll be around,” the streaming service head said during his panel at the annual Television Critics’ Association’s summer press tour Tuesday. Sarandos walked that comment back a bit after the session, saying, “There’s a bunch of stunt opportunities with them for the future if they want to.” The revival’s producer, Robert L. Boyett, had announced in May that the Olsens would not appear on the new show.

At the beginning of April, rumors circulated Netflix would bring back the classic TV show Full House. Now, those rumors have been confirmed. Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show on April 20, 2015, actor John Stamos said Netflix would revive Full House as a spin-off dubbed Fuller House.
Stamos revealed Fuller House will start with an hour-long episode resembling a reunion between the main characters, and then launch into a spin-off for the remaining 12 episodes. Fuller House will center around D.J. Tanner-Fuller (played by the returning Candace Cameron-Bure), now a widowed veterinarian with two young boys and another one on the way. Netflix subscribers may soon be able to watch more of the Tanner family’s life in San Francisco. The streaming video-on-demand service is reportedly planning a new season of the classic TV show Full House.
According to TVLine, sources close to Netflix revealed the streaming company is almost ready to order 13 new episodes of the hit Full House, which ran from 1987-1995. The show’s revival could be dubbed Fuller House, and would reunite many of the original cast members as recurring or guest roles (John Stamos may even produce the show). Full House’s show creator Jeff Franklin would executive produce the new Netflix version, along with the show’s original executive producers Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett.
Netflix and Warner Bros. reps declined to comment on TVLine’s story. Additionally, a Netflix spokesperson told Variety the report about a new Full House season is “just a rumor.

Have you been dreaming of a world with Full House in it? Well, in the words of Michelle Tanner…

According to TV Line, Netflix is super close to a 13-episode order for Fuller House to follow the continuing adventures of D.J. Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler (Candace Cameron Bure and Andrea Barber)! John Stamos, Bob Saget, and Dave Coulier will make guest appearances, and the original creator, Jeff Franklin, and executive producers Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett are onboard, too!
While it’s not likely Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will appear as Michelle, maybe there’s a place for Michelle’s childhood bestie Denise (played by Jurnee Smollett — Jussie‘s sister!) so that the Smollett family resurgence and TV takeover can be complete.
To make your hearts even fuller, Bure says she loves hanging out with Aunt Becky aka Lori Loughlin.
