Their stated goal is to uphold the law of the land and put the bad guys behind bars, but every TV fan knows that our favorite small-screen cops, detectives, and agents — as well as their colleagues who semi-officially serve in crime-fighting capacities — have a duty to increase pulses and raise the temperatures of whatever rooms they enter.
We recently wrapped up a 64-player bracket tournament for male law-enforcement types — won by NCIS‘ Tony Dinozzo — and since we’re equal opportunity oglers/romantics, we figured we’d better construct a similar showdown for their female counterparts.

"...It's not easy being a teen like 'Duncan'. His mom wants him to pay more attention to his homework, while his dad -- a 120-foot, fire-breathing 'Kaiju' from the depths of the earth -- wants him to follow in his monstrous footsteps. Duncan faces trials by fire from two worlds -- in one, overcoming his father's challenges to prepare for the Kaiju throne; in the other, coping with life in a new high school. Ultimately, Firebreather is a story of a boy choosing between two different paths put before him by his parents. Through it all, only Duncan can determine his own future..."

Wow -- that was one filled-to-bursting "Chuck" on Monday (Oct. 11). Between the return of Generalissimo Goya, Chuck's big conversation with Ellie, Casey owning every scene he was in, the Awesome statue, Morgan and Alex ... you get the idea. Lots and lots of stuff going on.
All of it, though, came back to relationships, and all of them had significant developments. So let's break it down.
Chuck and Sarah: After the not-proposal of last week, Morgan tells Chuck that he and Sarah are "crap communicators" -- which, really, no argument here. Aided by self-help guru Dr. Fred's latest book (side note: Why would there be a book signing at the Buy More?), Chuck initiates a series of "useful" but occasionally very silly conversations, bringing up Sarah's defenses and her essential fear of commitment: "Why do we always have to talk and change things? Why can't we just be?"
They each...

Oh, Chuck. I come back to you week after week looking to have my mind blown by unlikely sources. I had hoped that "Chuck Vs. The Coup D'Etat" would make up for the stagnant indecision of last weeks' "Cubic Z," but it sadly offered up nothing more than a distracted, if lightly entertaining relationship piece.
There's an important moment early on during the power-couple's trip to the Costa Gravan palace, wherein the jilted wife of Armand Assante's Generalissimo speaks of her impending coup as a return to socialism against capitalism. One wouldn't expect Chuck to create extensive discourse about such a charged political issue, but boiling down the conflict to relationship troubles speaks volumes about the show's well-documented problems.
It's not that Chuck and Sarah are a bad couple; Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski practically bleed chemistry. But whereas the will they/won't they drama long hindered the show's ability to create original storytelling,...

When Armand Assante returns to Chuck on this fall's fourth episode, he won't come back alone.
As Premier Alejandro Goya, Assante will be lucky enough to have Tia Texada on his arm. The 38-year-old actress, who recurs as Shay on ABC Family's Huge, will portray Goya's wife on the NBC hit, a woman named Hortencia.
The character will be in possession of a key secret and we'll meet her when Chuck and company visit the Premier's island in his native Costa Gravas.

One month away from the season 4 premiere, a featurette of "Chuck" is released to tease on what will happen to Chuck and Morgan. Some scenes taken from the last season when Morgan finally found out that Chuck is a spy are inserted before creator Josh Schwartz explains the quality of bromance between them.
Schwartz revealed the reason why Morgan was let into the world of spies, saying that the relationship was so crucial in the first season that the only thing that would get them in the same screen would be to reveal the secret to Morgan. Joshua Gomez who plays Morgan chipped in, "I'm like a [Spider-Man's girlfriend] Mary Jane now, which is odd."
