Everyone’s politics is up for discussion these days and Mark Ruffalo is no exception.
The Marvel star is not one to shy from a fight, either as the Hulk or as himself – and especially in the political arena.
With 2024 election nearly upon us, Mark is revving up his efforts to encourage his followers to get involved and more importantly, get informed.
But what exactly are Mark Ruffalo’s politics? He’s taking swipes at republican nominee Donald Trump one minute and the next, he’s calling out Democratic governor Gavin Newsom.
Whose side is he on?

Winter may never come — if HBO’s release schedule continues to gestate at a glacial pace.
That’s among the running gags in the Saturday Night Live Cut for Time sketch titled “Blonde Dragon People,” which pokes fun at the network-streamer and its star prestige series House of the Dragon. In the six-minute-long video, a group of friends become increasingly confused with the show’s short runtime and long shooting schedule, extraordinarily similar-sounding names and continuity errors.
Dorgos, Dormos, Dargomos, Dorgon and Dorman are just a handful of the names that confuse the group, which comprises SNL stars Andrew Dismukes, Heidi Gardner, Devon Walker and newcomer Jane Wickline.
As they watch the show’s recap — as played by Chloe Fineman, Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang and a heavily accented and nonsensical James Austin Johnson (clearly parodying Matt Smith’s Daemon Targaryen in Hotd) — the friends start to lose track of plot points,...

Updated, with governor signing additional legislation: California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed two bills today designed to give greater protections to performers and others over the use of their digital likenesses during their lives and to their estates.
Newsom signed the legislation at the Los Angeles headquarters of SAG-AFTRA, which has been one of the major champions of the new laws.
“We’re making sure that no one turns over their name, image and likeness to unscrupulous people without representation or union advocacy,” Newsom said.
Ab 1836 expands the scope of the state’s postmortem right of publicity, including the use of digital replicas, meaning that an estate’s permission would be needed to use such technology to re-create the voice and likeness of a deceased person. There are exceptions for news, public affairs and sports broadcasts, as well as for other uses such as satire, comment, criticism and parody and for certain documentary,...

Sometimes you just have to let sleeping dogs – or One-Eyed Willy – lie. Next year, The Goonies will be celebrating its 40th anniversary. But don’t expect a sequel to The Goonies, as one is neither in development nor being considered, according to two cast members from the original 1985 movie.
Word about a sequel to The Goonies has been swirling about the rumor mill this past week, but both Corey Feldman (“Mouth”) and Martha Plimpton (Andy’s best friend Stef) have sent those misconceptions to walk the plank. As Plimpton wrote on Instagram, “People, there is no Goonies 2 script, there is no one ‘attached’, Spielberg is not directing, it’s not real,” before encouraging people to vote. Feldman (who has been against the idea since Richard Donner’s death), meanwhile, posted on X earlier in the week, “2’Sday, Is #GOONIES2 Real?! EVERY1 Is Asking…I Can Officially Tell U 100% No! I...

Although Goonies never say die, there are few other words to describe the hopes for a potential sequel.
Corey Feldman and Martha Plimpton, who starred together in Steven Spielberg‘s The Goonies (1985), recently responded to reports that a sequel to the beloved movie is in the works with the original cast expected to return.
“2’Sday, Is #GOONIES2 Real?! EVERY1 Is Asking…I Can Officially Tell U 100% No! I Hav No Info That A Sequel Is In The Worx,” wrote Feldman on X, promoting the long-awaited premiere of his 2004 film The Birthday.
Plimpton also shot down the news while using the opportunity to engage fans in their civic duty. “People, there is no Goonies 2 script, there is no one ‘attached,’ Spielberg is not directing, it’s not real,” she shared in a post on Instagram. “What Is real is Check Your Registration And Vote!!!!”

The Goonies is a 1985 adventure comedy about a bunch of kids trying to save their homes from foreclosure; they succeed after an unlikely series of events involving pirate gold, organized crime, and of course, friendship. The movie stars the likes of Sean Astin (who went on to be Sam in The Lord of the Rings), Josh Brolin (who went on to be Thanos in the MCU), Ke Huy Quan (who won an Oscar for Everything Everywhere All At Once), Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green and Martha Plimpton. The cast have agreed in the past that a sequel seems pretty much inevitable, but it hasn't happened yet...or has it?
No!...I think. The Sun spread a rumor earlier this month that the cast were reuniting for sequel all these years later, and cast members are now denying it in the strongest terms...while at least one of them pulls for it to happen.

Sad news for fans of “The Goonies” as a viral report claiming a sequel to Richard Donner’s 1985 classic is in development is not true. At least not at this time. The Sun claimed earlier this month that “The Goonies 2” would be filmed next summer with many of the original cast returning, but actors such as Corey Feldman and Martha Plimpton members shut down the report.
“People, there is no ‘Goonies 2’ script, there is no one ‘attached,'” Plimpton wrote on Instagram. “Spielberg is not directing, it’s not real. What Is real is Check Your Registration And Vote!!!!”
Feldman added in a post on X (formerly twitter) that he had “no information” whatsoever that a sequel was in development.
It appears one would have to go back to 2014 for the last time there was serious buzz about “The Goonies 2” being developed. Variety reported at the time that...

It didn’t take long for The Goonies to become a classic staple in cinema history. Who knew an adventure-comedy about a bunch of kids living in the Goon Docks would become such an important and nostalgic part of many lives? According to numerous reports in UK tabloids, the greenlight has been given for a sequel to the 1980s classic The Goonies.
Considering this has been on the cards for many years in Tinseltown, we like to take this news with a pinch of salt. However, according to The S*n and ‘its sources’, “The plan is to start developing the ideas for the follow-up next summer, with a possible release date of 2026 or 2027.”
“The original is so culturally significant, Warner Bros’ knows they have to get it totally right.
“Major stars will likely come back but the possibilities of where to take the sequel are endless.”
If the story is true, production is likely to commence next summer for a 2026/2027 release.
For our part, we recently spoke to Joe Pantoliano about the idea of a Goonies sequel, and how the original film has endured. His answer is below, at the time-stamped link.

Exclusive: Legion M, a fan-driven film production and distribution outfit behind films like SXSW audience award winner My Dead Friend Zoe, has just raised $5 million from 15,000 individual investors.
It is the company’s largest fundraising round, both in terms of the number of investors and the amount raised, and is slated to close on October 11. The influx of investors brings the company’s total count to almost 50,000.
The news comes a day after a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign for fall title The Apprentice offered yet more evidence that newer models of film financing appear to be increasingly viable.

Live-show veterans Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss just came off a very strongly rated Democratic National Convention — more than 26 million people tuned in Thursday night to watch Vice President Kamala Harris accept the presidential nomination.
The Emmy-decorated pair (Kirshner executive produced; Weiss directed) fashioned a four-day event marked by both flash and substance. Though the DNC veterans don’t typically choose the issue-oriented speakers — this year that fell largely to political consultant Stephanie Cutter and her team — Kirshner and Weiss have a huge hand in crafting the show’s feel and influencing the messages that reach us. They also devised that viral Lil Jon roll-call moment.
With the convention over, The Hollywood Reporter caught up with the pair on what they’re proud of, what they’d do differently and that Beyoncé rumor that wouldn’t go away.
The DNC felt a little different this year — the energy, the glitz.

This year’s DNC, celebrating Vice President Kamala Harris’ historic presidential nomination, was hosted by Tony Goldwyn, Ana Navarro, Mindy Kaling and Kerry Washington, with each star emceeing one night of the event. The four-day convention featured performances by Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Patti Labelle and other major musicians; surprise appearances by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, who gave a speech urging those who are registered as independent like herself to vote; a daytime panel moderated by Julia Louis-Dreyfus; and more.
Besides the noteworthy political figures who made an appearance at the DNC, including President Joe Biden and Harris herself, these are the recognizable names who have been spotted at events around the convention.

The only hope of stopping the beast is a motley crew comprised of a disgraced paleontologist, his unhinged amusement park security guard co-worker, an old flame, and a no-nonsense local celebrity chicken farmer.
The cast includes Capes, David Shackelford, Sandy Martin, Caitlin McHugh and Sean Astin.

The speeches from Barack and Michelle Obama were the highlight of the second night of the Democratic National Convention, but also the first-of-its-kind, well-produced ceremonial roll call, set to a DJ’s jam.
In the arena lit with color changing blinking lights, there was Lil Jon, taking off in a surprise rap when Georgia was called to cast its votes for Kamala Harris; Sean Astin paying homage to Rudy as Indiana announced its tally; and Spike Lee appearing with the New York delegation as its governor boasted of the Empire State’s supremacy.
Then there was Wisconsin, a key battleground state, and its governor, Tony Evers, surrounded by delegates wearing cheesehead hats. As he started to trumpet his state, telling the arena that he was here “because I’m jazzed as hell,” he tripped up in announcing the tally for Kamala Harris.

On what was a raucous, joyous night inside the hall, the roll call at the 2024 Democratic National Convention set social media abuzz with the innovative use of a live DJ and music to introduce each state and territory.
During night two of the Chicago convention, DJ Cassidy took on the role of setting up each state and territory with short intro music, as each representative got a chance to talk up their home before declaring their delegates. The song choices ranged from expected (“Empire State of Mind” for New York, “I’m Shipping up to Boston” for Massachusetts), to some truly inspired choices (“Raise Up” by Petey Pablo for North Carolina and “The Way I Are” by Timbaland for Virginia).
Stealing the show, though, was Georgia, which flexed by having Lil Jon perform “Turn Down for What” live inside Chicago’s United Center. In his surprise performance, he rapped the...

“This election is going to be close,” Michelle Obama told the Democratic National Convention tonight in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois of the rough race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The former First Lady has pretty finely attuned political antenna, but on the second day of the DNC her speech tonight was a landslide winner.
Don’t believe us, believe the 44th President of the United States. Or as Barack Obama said Tuesday at the top of his own speech before Democrats and the viewing world: “I’m the only person stupid enough to speak after Michelle Obama.”
On any other night from any other speaker, the words “Hope is making a comeback” would have been the line of the night. But that was just an obviously uninhibited Michelle Obama’s warm up as she offered strong support to Vice President Harris and her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Update, 6:15 Pm: “To everyone in Chicago and across America, thank you,” proclaimed Kamala Harris tonight from Milwaukee as Democratic National Convention almost unanimously declared the Vice President their party’s White House nominee in a rockin’ ceremonial roll call.
In a new unconventional twist, the convention went split screen and then a cut to the VP and running mate Governor Tim Walz at a packed rally in the Wisconsin city proved the first look at the candidate on Day 2 of the DNC.

About a month ago, Netflix released a video marking the halfway point of filming on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. Now, showrunner Ross Duffer has released a new cache of images giving us a behind-the-scenes look at things are going. It's captioned "Weeks 28-30." About a month ago, at the halfway point, it would have been Weeks 24-27. That means Stranger Things has roughly 20 weeks left in its filming schedule, which could take it into mid-January of 2025.

We've just said goodbye to House of the Dragon for a couple of years until the third season comes out, but fantasy fans don't have to wait long for the next show on their watch lists. Amazon Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns with its second season later this month, and all eyes are on the Tolkien adaptation to see where the story goes next. It might not have been as big of a hit as the Game of Thrones spinoff, but The Rings of Power received generally positive reviews in its first season, even if fans of the source material were unhappy with changes.
Ahead of the show's return, GQ got to go behind the scenes at a film studio in England to speak with the cast and crew about the upcoming sophomore season. Through conversations with showrunners Jd Payne and Patrick McKay...

As the American political landscape drastically shifted and the Democratic party breathed a sigh of relief when President Joe Biden ended his re-election bid, his successor’s campaign swiftly began to take shape. Many elements seemed familiar from past election cycles — the canvassing and relentless emails or text messages, or both. But a July 29 evening gathering on Zoom presented something new in the presidential campaign cycle when it brought, as one famous speaker put it, a “rainbow of beige” men that counted nearly a dozen A-list Hollywood celebrities and major political figures among them to raise funds for Vice President Kamala Harris’ nascent campaign.
The “White Dudes For Harris” Zoom meeting was a feel-good, self-aware round-robin of famous L.A.- and D.C.-based men alternately talking about Harris with great passion (Sean Astin’s passionate speech stood out on this front); being a white dude (Jeff Bridges, “the Dude” himself,...

About 10 months after its last strike ended, there was a very familiar scene outside Warner Bros. today as SAG-AFTRA kicked off picketing against the major video game companies — in this case, WB Games Inc. And there were some familiar faces in attendance.
SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland told Deadline from the picket line that he was “disappointed and…frankly, a little bit angry” that the companies had not taken the threat of a strike by voice-actors and motion capture performers seriously.
Also on the picket line were stalwarts Joely and Frances Fisher, Sean Astin and a few attendees in cosplay.

Update: The White Dudes for Harris X account is back up.
“After a groundswell of complaints to Elon Musk from the White Dudes for Harris community, our account was reinstated & we’re allowed to post again,” the group said this afternoon.
Ross Morales Rocketto, key organizer of the group, wrote that it was “funny” that after the call on Monday night, which raised more than $4 million for Kamala Harris’ campaign, “Elon Musk suspended our account as I got hundreds of insults and memes from white supremacist bot accounts that are still active.”
Previously: A White Dudes for Harris online rally raised more than $4M in donations in a matter of hours but then saw its X account suspended, prompting concern from organizers.
Among those to contribute to the virtual You Tube event were J.J. Abrams, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Groban, Sean Astin, Michael Kelly, Josh Gad, Jeff Bridges and Mark Hamill.

Updated: A White Dudes for Harris online rally raised more than $4 million for Kamala Harris’ campaign, as a mix of vice presidential hopefuls, labor leaders and Hollywood celebrities sought to capitalize on the new Democratic enthusiasm with a bit of a twist.
On the virtual You Tube event, J.J. Abrams chipped in a $50,000 match, while figures like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Groban, Bradley Whitford, Rory O’Malley, Paul Scheer, Adam Conover, Sean Astin, Michael Kelly, Lance Bass, Tim Daly and Josh Gad appeared. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the appearance of Jeff Bridges, “The Dude” in The Big Lebowski.
“I’m white, I’m a dude and I’m for Harris,” Bridges said.
The viewership reached about 65,000, while more than 190,000 tuned in at some point, organizers said.
“I can see her being president,” Bridges said. “A woman president, man, how exciting.” He cited her stance on women’s rights and her stance...

Jeff Bridges, J.J. Abrams and Mark Hamill were among the Hollywood figures who joined Monday night’s “White Dudes for Harris” Zoom fundraising and organizing rally.
The event, which is being broadcast on YouTube, has raised more than $3 million to date for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

“I’m excited, man!” Bridges added.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Abrams promised during the call to match $50,000 raised from attendees.

The Goonies, which was released in 1985, was an adventure comedy that went on to become a cult classic. Based on a story by Steven Spielberg, the film also served as a stepping stone for young Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, and Ke Huy Quan to become big stars in Hollywood. One of the key characters in the movie was Lawrence ‘Chunk’ Cohen played by actor Jeff Cohen.

Frank Herbert once said there is no real ending. It’s just where you stop the story. This is perhaps ironic given the author famously wrote six Dune novels without ever coming to a final satisfying conclusion to his millennia-spanning saga. But then knowing when and how to stop has always remained an elusive challenge for storytellers, even when they’re working at the height of their craft.

Starring Sean Astin, Ali Larter, Madison Wolfe (The Conjuring 2) Brec Bassinger (CW’s Stargirl), Gavin Warren (Night Swim) and Skai Jackson (Jessie), The Man in the White Van delves into the harrowing experiences of Annie Williams (Wolfe), a spirited family girl, whose carefree existence is turned upside down as she finds herself stalked by an ominous man in a white van. Prone to exaggeration, her parent’s disbelief in her tales of being followed, lead to a terrifying Halloween nightmare.
“The Man in the White Van is a flat-out frightening story with an incredible ensemble cast, and the teams behind it have produced a film that’s both visceral and topical,” said Michael Arrieta,...

Goonies never say die! But we’re still interested in what else they have to say. And this will all come true for die-hard fans of The Goonies, as a feature-length documentary on the making and legacy of the 1985 adventure favorite is currently in development through a Kickstarter campaign. With less than two months until the campaign ends, none other than Mikey Walsh, Sean Astin, is calling for any remaining support there is and ensuring he’ll take part.
Posting on social media to promote the documentary – currently titled Life After The Goonies – Sean Astin wrote, “I enthusiastically support this Goonies documentary. I hope you all can donate a few bucks so it can get made. I can’t wait to participate. I can’t wait to see the interviews she’s already done…in particular with Richard Donner our Director. I’ve never seen it. Only a couple days left on the campaign…...

A down-on-his-luck coach or mentor assembling a bunch of underdogs and taking them to glory has to be the most common sports film template. Daniel Hanna, happens to be a mix of both of these kinds. Naturally, it appears to be conventional and familiar, but that doesn’t mean it’s not rewarding. In many ways, this genre itself is like a comforting cheeseburger. If it’s done right, it’s always going to work, and it certainly doesn’t matter if you’ve had it thousands of times before. This film is a profound example of that. It is, obviously, inspired by this real person, Greg Townsend, and his incredible story. Matthew Modine (Dr. Brenner from Stranger Things is how most of you know him) plays the part,...
