"Sounds like you need to own up to some of the things you've done." Cleopatra Entertainment has released an official trailer for a film titled Making a Killing, a crime drama from filmmaker Devin Hume. The film is about three morticians who get caught up in a web of greed and deceit, involving buried treasure and a tangled love affair, in this modern day crime mystery that is, apparently, based on a true story. Michael Jai White stars in this as Officer Hudson, along with Mike Starr, Jack Forcinito, Sally Kirkland, Aida Turturro, and Christopher Lloyd. This looks crazy weird and wacky and totally low budget, not really in a good way. The best part about this is Michael Jai White, who looks like he's having all kinds of fun in this role with the cowboy hat and all. But this film really looks quite awful, thankfully the trailer is free to watch.

Throughout the month of December, we will be highlighting a film a day that has some tie into the holiday somehow. Some titles will be obvious, others won’t be. Some films will be good and, again, others won’t be. However, we think all titles are worth your time whether to give you chills inside your home or to make you drink more eggnog until you puke laughing.
Ten shopping days before Christmas, and people are being attacked by zombies, but we better not use the zed word because no one else does. Two cops roll up on some deadheads and one tries to gnaw on Jackson’s (Andy Hopper) foot. Thankfully his partner Frank Talbot (Jack Forcinito, not Lon Chaney) shoots his toe off and kills the zombie. Hustle back to Jackson’s second floor apartment and Frank’s wife, Sarah (Nadine Stenovitch) is there fighting off more zombies.

Silent Night, Zombie Night Legendary scream queen Felissa Rose, who so memorably played Angela in both Sleepaway Camp & Return to Sleepaway Camp, tackles the zombie sub-genre of horror as a gun totting bad-ass who blows out some zombie brains in Sean Cain's (Someone's Knocking at the Door) Silent Night, Zombie Night. The film, which co-stars Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2), Lew Temple (The Devil's Rejects), Andy Hopper (Before Turning the Gun) & Jack Forcinito (Breath of Hate), premiered back around Christmas of 2009. Now it appears that Silent Night, Zombie Night has distribution and will be making its way to DVD, finally!
Coming to DVD on Sept 20th in the Us and Canada, Silent Night, Zombie Night takes place a week before Christmas as a viral outbreak turns the citizens of Los Angeles into the walking dead. On the brink of severing ties with both his wife and longtime partner, L.

With director Sean Cain busy putting the finishing touches on Breath of Hate, he also checked in with Dread Central to give us an exclusive look at the brand new poster for the flick, designed by Jason Beam.
When asked about the current production status on the project, Cain said “We are about to sign a few amazing artists to have songs in Breath of Hate, and then we just have to finish up the 5.1 mix. All of this should be finished by the end of this month so our rep has been busy working on securing distribution for the film in the meantime. We’re aiming for a limited theatrical release as well.”

I just finished screening this movie entitled Silent Night, Zombie Night from director Sean Cain. The film co-starred legendary scream queen diva Felissa Rose along with Jack Forcinito, Andy Hopper, Nadine Stenovitch, Lew Temple, Vernon Wells, Sara Tomko, Luke Y. Thompson, Ricardo Gray, John Karyus, Domiziano Arcangeli and Tim Muskatell. Silent Night Zombie Night takes place a week before Christmas, as a viral outbreak turns the citizens of Los Angeles into the feral undead. On the brink of breaking up with both his wife and partner, L.A.P.D. officer Frank Talbot finds himself trapped in a apartment with them. As death closes in, they try not only to survive, but work around the fact both men love the same woman. One thing kept popping up in my mind as I watched the film, the three leads of this film definitely have the presence, the charisma, the acting chops,...

Director/writer: Sean Cain.
Sean Cain has been interviewed here regarding this project, and Silent Night, Zombie Night is heavy on the dramatic, light on the action and character driven (interview here). In other words, Sean Cain is so comfortable with this genre that he manages to add some soap opera elements to a post-apocalyptic world. How is that for confidence?
Silent Night, Zombie Night gets the ball rolling fairly quickly, with a random zombie attack in a quiet driveway. The blood flows, the baseball bats fly, toes get shot off and then the viewer is put right smack in the middle of a three way love story involving characters Frank (Jack Forcinito), Sarah (Nadine Stenovitch) and Nash (Andy Hooper). Silent Night, Zombie Night is only partially a horror film and mostly a drama.

It's hard to believe Dread Central readers that it's been about 3 1/2 months since I posted my last video production blog for the upcoming twisted horror flick Breath of Hate, but here we are in January 2010, and I thought what better way to move forward into a new year than by giving you an exclusive look at some more behind-the-scenes shenanigans from the set.

Sin City is suddenly becoming a genre town. The Blacklist Film Festival brought their indie flavor to Las Vegas; Live Evil hit the Sci-Fi Center; and the Fangoria Trinity Of Terrors took over The Palms.
Now William Powell’s comic shop and grindhouse theater hosts the Las Vegas premiere of Sean Cain’s Silent Night, Zombie Night (which we last covered here). The event, celebrating independent cinema, Christmas and zombies all in one night, takes place December 5 at 8 p.m. and costs $5.
Cain, who Fangoria calls a “Indie Horror Specialist,” will be on hand for a Q&A and autograph signing session after the film, as will producer Wes Laurie, and co-stars Chris Gabriel (”One Long Day,” “Devotion,” “S4″), Chad Clinton Freeman ("Killer Biker Chicks"), Luke Y. Thompson (”Wicked Lake,” “Mad Cowgirl”) and Sean Decker ("Alluvial"). Dread Central's Heather Wixson, aka The Horror Chick, will be hosting the event.

The Horror Chick Heather Wixson took a brief vacation so there was a delay in all of her Breath of Hate goodies. But fear not; she's back, and we've got Day Eight right here for you!
On the eighth day of shooting, the set was filled to the brim with lots of new and familiar faces, including Sleepaway Camp actress Felissa Rose, who was about two weeks away from her due date while working on set. She was such a trooper, she even allowed herself to get tied up for a scene in the back of The Horror Chick's car. We also got to meet a few more of the "bad kids" including Selma (Monique Parent) and Cleb (Ricardo Gray), and director Sean Cain took his turn at doing some of the behind-the-scenes footage himself. Prepare to see Heather run from the camera!

Welcome back, Dread-ites, to The Horror Chick Heather Wixson's video production blog for Breath of Hate - Day Five. Who knows what mayhem lies ahead!
The cast and crew are headed up to a Malibu mansion to finish out the rest of the shoot. This first day in Malibu was mostly scenes with Jason Mewes so it gave Heather a chance to roam around the mansion and give everyone a taste of the good life (because I know you won't ever see me living in mansion, not in this lifetime anyway!) We also check in with director Sean Cain and see just how much he appreciates his hard-working crew.

Hey, Dread Central fiends! Welcome to Heather "The Horror Chick" Wixson's production video blog for Day Three of Sean Cain's Breath of Hate.
On this third day of filming Jason Mewes was on set to shoot some of his first scenes with the rest of the cast at Sonny's house. We got a taste of our first kills on set (but we won't be showing you that because then we'd ruin the movie for you!), and the cast/crew of Breath of Hate got a surprise visit, too.

Sean (Silent Night, Zombie Night) Cain, director of the upcoming Hammer Films/ArsonCuff Entertainment horror feature Breath of Hate, tipped Dread off today of his casting of actor Jason Mewes. The Clerks and Feast alum will star in Breath of Hate alongside the previously announced Ezra (Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2) Buzzington and Felissa (Return to Sleepaway Camp) Rose.
"Audiences know him as the foul-mouthed Jay in the Kevin Smith movies, but he’s got a sweet side that’s the perfect counterpoint to the darkness in our story,” says Cain. “His character is a gamer nerd who falls for an escort. It’s through his love that he brings her back from being a walking suicide.”
Also joining the cast of Hate, which revolves around (according to the PR) “a young woman in the escort business who, on her last job, is confronted by a trio of escaped mental patients...

Fango got the scoop from director Sean Cain that Jason Mewes has joined the cast of his latest feature, Breath Of Hate (which we last reported on here). “His character is a gamer nerd who falls for a escort,” Cain says; that escort is the film’s heroine, who is terrorized by three homicidal asylum escapees on her last job.
“It’s through his love that he brings her back from being a walking suicide,” Cain continues. “Audiences know Jason as the foul-mouthed Jay in the Kevin Smith movies, but he’s got a sweet side that’s the perfect counterpoint to the darkness in our story.” Mewes’ Jay also made an appearance in Scream 3, and the actor’s genre credits additionally include R.S.V.P., Feast, The Tripper, Netherbeast Incorporated, Bitten and the upcoming Silent But Deadly. Breath Of Hate, scripted by Wes Laurie and produced by him and Cain,...

As a child and teenager I became interested in horror films from the first time I saw Gunnar Hansen swing a chainsaw, at Dennis Hopper, in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2." Unknown to me at the time there was and additional world full of the undead, pin-headed villains, and demon possessed girls who were each anxious to scar my perceptions of reality. Now, I will soon get the chance to replay the trauma of my youth in 2010 when Wes Laurie puts the final ink on his dark screenplay for "Breath of Hate."
Envisioning a world gone awry "Breath of Hate," will sear my memory again as cultists from a psychiatric ward, terrorize the innocent and destroy hope for a happy tomorrow. In Wes Laurie's new script there will be dark comedy, romance, and for horror fans lots of thrilling goretastic sequences. Blending several genres together with a focus on characters...

Looks like the crew over at Velvet Hammer Films are close to a premiere for "Silent Night, Zombie Night," with the first teaser available for zombie horror film fans. Set during Christmas time the film, appropriately, will see a late 2009 release date. Involving a three-way love story and streets of blood this low budget film offers more than the typical zombie film. Check out the first trailer below and an excerpt from a previous interview with director Sean Cain.
A synopsis for "Silent Night, Zombie Night," below...
A week before Christmas a viral outbreak turns the citizens of Los Angeles into the feral undead. On the brink of breaking up with both his wife and partner, L.A.P.D. officer Frank Talbot finds himself trapped in a apartment with them. Filmmaker Sean Cain got in touch with Fango to provide us with a few exclusive production pics from the final day of shooting on his recently wrapped undead flick Silent Night, Zombie Night. You can see ’em below, along with the new key art (by Jason Beam) and a rather gory teaser trailer for the indie feature, which we last reported on here; he also shared the word on his next feature.
Cain, who’s currently editing Silent Night, Zombie Night (which stars Vernon Wells, Jack Forcinito and Nadine Stenovith as a trio terrorized by the ghouls), will be present at this weekend’s La Weekend of Horrors (sharing a table with Live Evil producer Mark Terry), and tells us that the film’s trailer “will run right before the 8 p.m. Saturday screening of director Jay Woelfel’s Live Evil, as well as looping at our table.

Don’t let the title Silent Night, Zombie Night fool you. While writer/director Sean Cain is clearly paying homage to the campy 80s slasher flick Silent Night, Deadly Night, there’s nothing campy about his latest film.
“Snzn is really the story of three people who emotionally fall apart and come together during a zombie pandemic,” explained Cain. “So while yes, the movie is about zombies, it’s really about these three people dealing with their own issues during a horrific ordeal.”
Taking place a week before Christmas, Snzn is about a viral outbreak that’s unleashed, turning La citizens into the feral undead. While facing the devastating effects of the outbreak, Lapd officer Frank Talbot (Jack Forcinito) is also faced with the decision of whether or not to leave both his wife Sarah (Nadine Stenovitch) and his partner Nash (Andy Hopper).

It’s early December 2008 and in the a.m. when Fango arrives on the set of writer/director/producer Sean Cain’s Silent Night, Zombie Night. And while there isn’t, at first, much to distinguish this seldom-traveled area of North Hollywood, CA from similar areas of the San Fernando Valley, a certain house on the corner—and its copiously blood-splattered facade—let this scribe know he’s in the right place.
A Velvet Hammer Films production, Silent Night, Zombie Night is shooting day six of a scheduled 12 days, and Fango’s on hand not only to document the carnage being unleashed on the mixed-use...
