The Night Agent received an early season 3 renewal last month, and the cast is already coming together. Genesis Rodriguez is now in talks to join the new season of The Night Agent in a series regular role.

Details on her role are being kept under wraps, but The Night Agent season 3 is slated to start shooting in Istanbul at the end of the year and continue in New York in early 2025. Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent is “a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centering on a low level FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office.” The series stars Gabriel Basso, Luciane Buchanan, Hong Chau, D.B. Woodside, Eve Harlow, Sarah Desjardins, and more.

Ahead of The Night Agent Season 2’s January 23 premiere, Genesis Rodriguez (Lioness) has entered negotiations for a role in the hit conspiracy thriller’s third season, Deadline can reveal.

Reps for Netflix declined comment. While specifics as to Rodriguez’s part are under wraps, we hear that she’ll be a series regular. As Deadline previously reported, production on S3 is set to kick off in Istanbul at the end of this year, with a New York shoot to follow in 2025. Netflix announced the show’s Season 3 renewal in October.

Coming off the back of several underwhelming episodes, the final episode in Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King season 2 had some big boots to fill. While Yellowstone went down as one of the finest Western pieces that Kevin Costner has been a part of to date, it is also the project that earned him quite a bit of controversy when he decided to leave it. However, the tenth episode seems like a backdoor pilot for an upcoming series based on the Texas ranch. If that is indeed the case, Taylor Sheridan seems to have forgotten the important message at the core of Yellowstone, and here is what it means for its future.

John’s death would happen eventually because of the sad fact that no one cheats death, but because of a dispute between Kevin Costner and the show, the death occurred prematurely.

Part two of Yellowstone’s fifth season has sparked outrage from fans after the sudden death of Kevin Costner’s character, John Dutton.

Two years after the last episode of the show was aired, the fate of Costner’s character was quickly revealed, as the episode began with Kelly Reilly‘s Beth Dutton and Luke Grimes‘ Kayce Dutton finding out that he had been shot and killed.

Initially, the death appeared to be a suicide, but it was later discovered that lawyer Sarah Atwood murdered John.

Although Costner confirmed his departure from the show last spring, fans were still taken aback by how his character left.

Yellowstone Season 5 resumed after a nearly two-year hiatus earlier this month, and viewers were dealt a massive blow in the midseason premiere when Kevin Costner’s John Dutton was killed off.

Taylor Sheridan’s super successful “Yellowstone” has been compared to “Dallas,” the grandaddy of primetime soap operas, often enough. So why wouldn’t Sheridan take a stab at his own Texas-set, oil industry melodrama?

“Landman” is that. And what’s pleasantly surprising about this Permian Basin blend of big business brinkmanship, family conflict and horrific on-the-job accidents is that it’s so damn funny.

Most of the laughs are intentional, too. A rich deposit of them should be credited to star Billy Bob Thornton, who can deliver astute lessons in petrochemical economics one minute then tell a bartender “I quit drinkin’, I’ll stick with beer” the next. The “Goliath” and “Bad Santa” star maintains exasperation in his drawl throughout and doesn’t waste a second resetting tone from heartfelt to pissed off to sarcastic, reliably punctuating all of it with redolent cusswords.

Is Landman any different than anything Taylor Sheridan has previously made? My answer is no. In the first two episodes of Landman, you meet a fixer named Tommy Norris, who’s basically an old and grumpy version of Mike McLusky. Yes, Landman is set in a different world that explores a whole different profession, but what else? And I am sure the locals and the die-hard fans of Sheridan won’t agree with me, so I’ll keep those opinions to myself for now and move forward with the recap of the Landman premiere.

Meet Tommy “Tom” Norris

So, Tommy’s the man to call if you need someone to make deals with unsavory types. He isn’t the blue-collar type. He doesn’t beat around the bush, and he likes to hunt in the wild. Tommy speaks plain and simple, sometimes too blunt, but that’s the local lingo.

Taylor Sheridan is proving that he is the big boss with every new show he creates. When he’s not speeding through scripts for the Zoé Saldana-led ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ – which, believe it or not, he works on solo, like no writer’s room needed – he’s rounding up ‘Yellowstone,’ overseeing its spinoff ‘The Madison’ and even creating a “human” show that matches Billy Bob Thornton’s character. Sheridan is eating a lot of Paramount’s money, but you can’t say he doesn’t deliver.

Taylor Sheridan has done it again. His new series Landman on Paramount+ drops viewers right into the rough, risky world of Texas oil, as only Sheridan can.

To be clear, critics will not love this show. Just as they have overlooked other Sheridan works like Yellowstone and Tulsa King, they will downplay Landman’s entertainment value and the messaging within it. Don’t let that stop you from taking this ride.

In the first two episodes, we meet Tommy, played to the hilt by Billy Bob Thornton. Tommy knows the oil business inside out and isn’t afraid to use that knowledge to get what he wants.

Landman Season 1 Episode 1 wastes no time getting into the action. Tommy deals with everything from drug traffickers to family drama. It’s a world where money and power rule; Landman reveals the cost of getting to the top.

Right from the start,...

Over the years, I’ve lost track of how many “Yellowstone” spinoffs Paramount is actually making. There are the prequels “1883” and “1923” (originally titled “1932”); the upcoming sequel, “The Madison” (formerly “2024”); and then there’s “6666” and “1944,” both of which are still in development. Eventually Taylor Sheridan is going to run out of numbers, but until then, his ever-expanding Taylorverse shows no signs of slowing down.

Still, he’ll have to excuse me for assuming “Landman” — a modern western set in West Texas about a no-bullshit oil company fixer who has a daughter with oddly sexualized daddy issues, a son doing the dirty work to be just like his old man, and an awkwardly inserted country-rock song for every awkwardly forced joke about millennial snowflakes — shares more than a writer, director, executive producer, and creator with “Yellowstone.”

But officially, at least, that’s all that connects the new Paramount+ drama...

In an interview with The Direct, co-creator Christian Wallace confirmed plans for a potential Season 2.

“As long as there are stories to tell, I would love to keep telling them,” he said. “And I think we really just skinned the surface on our first season, and that’s saying something because they cover a lot of ground.

Drilling for oil is one of the most controversial and profitable ways to make a living. After 25 years, Ali Larter still isn’t used to filming intimate scenes, but she appreciates the new era of safe on-set environments.

The Landman star recently opened up about working with the Paramount+ series’ “amazing” intimacy coordinator Mam Smith on her scenes with co-star Billy Bob Thornton, noting that she finds on-set intimacy “terribly uncomfortable.”

“It’s awful. I wouldn’t even say it’s easier when you’re 19,” Larter told Yahoo Entertainment after making her whipped cream-clad breakout performance in 1999’s Varsity Blues.

“You know, at this point, I’ve carried two babies,” she said. “So, I’m like, if you still want to see it, let’s go.”
